URGENT - java.lang.OutOfMemoryException

Hi, I am having problems with a simple JSP-based application which is deployed on Oracle Application Server 10g (version 9.0.3.1). When only 1 person is logged on it works fine, however when more than 1 person attempts to log on the following error is displayed:
Server error: java.lang.OutOfMemoryException
<<no stack trace found>>
The Java heap stack trace on the application server is set to 512MB, and the Home Page is pulling about 2000 records and displaying them in an HTML table. Any help would be greatly appreciated as the deadline for this project is a few days away. Thanks

It seems that an even larger memory setting can not solve prevent this OutOfMemoryException. The reasonable way out is to reduce the memory usage of your application..
The first thought that occurs to me is that you do not have to pulling all 2000 records from the database at one swoop. You can query the database on demand. A human being can hardly take a serious look at 2000 records on one page. Ask the user to provide more restrictions on their search. Split the result across several pages. Then make the more restrictive query. (Think of google, a query can return millions of matches. We only see the first ten normally.)
When only 1 person is logged on it works fine, however when more than
1 person attempts to log on ...you can cache the html output in strings somewhere, say, in pageContext with application scope, the first time the client access your page. Next time, just output the strings. Then no matter how many persons are viewing the same page, the memory usage will hardly go up. This applies to the case when the content of the output does not change much.
You may find other ways to reduce the memory usage. Good luck!

  • URGENT: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError

    Hi all,
I'm calling a particular method which in turn calls a native method. But this gives an error:
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ifjapi90 in java.library.path
But just before the method call I set the System property java.library.path with the location of this file. After that i also print the same which is satisfactory. But it still gives me an error.
The following is the console output:
    ==========================

Please help. This is quite urgent.
    Regards,
    Naveen

This did not help. I loaded the library using
System.load but it still gives the same error. Is
there no way I can set the System property
    java.library.path after startup?
Did you provide the complete path to the library using load()?
If you did then I would suggest using java.io.File to test that path for existence before calling load() to see if it is correct.

  • Java.lang.OutOfMemoryException during JSP compilation

    Hi,
hunting down a problem at our customer's site, I upgraded our test server to WebLogic 8.1SP6 from SP5, just on the hunch this might have influenced the problem. What I ended up doing was a complete wipe of our SP5 installation and making a fresh SP6 setup.
That was a very interesting experience. Lot's of changes. APP-INF/lib working, Windows service creation working. Interesting.
However, the application failed a few pages inwards with an OutOfMemoryException during JSP compilation. I upped the JVM's memory with -Xms and -Xmx, but it still fails. It didn't with SP5, with all settings at their defaults.
              Anybody an idea?

How did you resolve this problem? I got same error          > ever since upgraded server from sp5 to sp6. Thanks in

The thing I found is that the startWebLogic.cmd and startManagedWebLogic.cmd scripts (which is where I did the memory settings) are not used at all if you're using managed servers. If you want to adjust memory, it has to be through the settings for that server in the WebLogic console, which is a pain, because you cannot enter one field and have WLS provide defaults for the rest. It's a all-or-nothing. When I finally got them right the managed server process correctly used the new settings and the problem disappeared.

  • Urgent - java.lang.NullPointerException when deploying a WAR file

    Hello
I am trying to deploy a WAR file on 9iAS rel 2 using the Enterprise Manager. On the web page, I provide the .war file along with application name and url mapping. When I click on deploy, i get an error back which just says java.lang.NullPointerException. There is no stack trace.
Until now, I have been working on my own PC using tomcat, and the war file works fine in tomcat.
I am presuming that there will be a log file where more information will be available, but I do not know where the log file is kept. The Oracle 9iAS is installed on Solaris.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Jay

    Problem Solved
The problem was the web.xml file which contained some elements that are only valid for servlet 2.4 (used on tomcat) but not on 2.2(used in oracle).

  • HtmlDataTable rendering is resulting into java.lang.OutofMemoryException

Requirement is such that thousands or records are to be displayed in data table in single page without pagination.
--> JSF data table while rendering consumes lots of heap memory which is throwing out of memory exception.
--> If we renders some limited rows in data table that is getting rendered but its not releasing memory once the page is rendered.Data table is in bean in session scope ( tried it with request scope but its not making any difference.)
--> State saving method is "Client".
--> Cant increase heap size due to some limitations
Anticipating solution which can help to release memory once data table is rendered or if possible consumes less heap while rendering objects.

here we are not manipulating those rows we just display the records, and while displaying it consumes lots of heap memory ....may be internally jsf apis for data table is creating some objects.......
Need to have solution so that we can avoid using server memory.................i think putting that bean in application scope wont be effective...... or please provide detail description of how it will resolve our problem..... i hope u got the problem

No, the "-g" version just means it has the debug flag turned on when they compile it.
Your problem is CLASSPATH and how to set it properly.
Use the -classpath option on java.exe when you run. Read the javadocs on the tools to find out how.

    Note:
I'm not sure where the In-Process report server is looking for the classpath. I added them in all possible classpaths ans none of them worked.
This is an urgent issue in our team. We are migrating from 10g oracle application server to fusion middleware 11g report server. This functionality is working in 10g report server but not in 11g due to classpath issues.
Please let me know if additional info needed. Please respond.

    Hi,
Thanks very much for responding. I added my jar file(customdest.jar) as you have suggested to setDomainEnv.sh. Now the In-Process report server just hangs when I try to bring it up through em and I don't see any errors in the log files. Any ideas where to look for errors? The jar files were created for 10g , we are just migrating them to 11g. I have setup the trace at highest level still don't see any error in rwserver_diagnostic.log.

Thanks in advance.First of all, java.lang.class does not exist. Just java.lang.Class.
    1. Read the content of a file into a byte[]
    2. Use defineClass method from ClassLoader in order to get the Class object (you can use the system class loader obtained by static method ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader() )

  • Urgent :-Need Help in DOtnet Dll integration with CFM 8. for error "java.lang.NullPointerException"

    Hi Everyone,
I am trying to intergrate Dotnet DLL with coldfusion. The basic perpose of this DLL is putting value in cache.
My code is working fine on my local machine but it giving me problem on live server.
    It is throwing "java.lang.NullPointerException" error.
    Description of task:-
    DLL:-
    made in : Dotnet 3.0
    Functions:-
setCache:- setting a string into cache.
    getCache:- getting value from cache.
ClearCache:- Clearing all value from Cache.
    Local Machine:-
    OS: window server 2003
    Coldfusion version :MX8
    coldfusion Product level:-Developer
Result:-Task is working fine.No error what so ever.
    Live server:-
    OS: window server 2003
    Coldfusion version :MX8
    coldfusion Product level:-Standred
    Result:-Task is throwing error "java.lang.NullPointerException"

Thanks for your response, but surely if the .NET Services was not running how can CF instantiate and dump the object with all the correct methods?
Anyway for some strange reason there is no Coldfusion .NET service in my services control panel even though I am running CF8. I have since downloaded the .NET service installer, run it and done a restart but I can still see no such service and the error continues?
I am running CF8 Dev on IIS 6 – Window XP pro and here is debug

I cant notice any difference between the old classpath settings.
Could somebody help me out in this issue
    Thanks
    manoj

    Hi Manoj,
    I had the same problem.
This is what worked for me:
    I'm running Win2k.
So, in C:\WINNT\system32 I found the following files
    javac.exe
    javaw.exe
    java.exe
I removed them all, since I have the jdk pointed in the right classpath in my environment variables.
Once this was deleted. It worked fine!
    I hope this helps.
