I've been caught in this for 2 days, please help, it's been

I have a preloader movie that loads a movie called
rotando6.swf
the problem is that on the main stage I have only a movie
called sphere,
I need the preloader to load rotando6.swf but also to load
frame 2 of the movie sphere...
The preloader movie has this segment of code:
_root.MyExternallyLoadedSWFMovieHolder.gotoAndStop("Play");
stop();
Play is the name of frame 2. The problem is that since Play
frame is inside the sphere movie, the code is not working.
How can I have the above code lode rotando6.swf but also load
the Play frame (frame 2) inside the sphere movie.
I really really need help
what's sphere have to do with your target movieclip? what's
frame 2 of whichever movieclip have to do with the frame labelled
"Play"?
if the target movieclip is sphere and frame 2 is labelled
"Play", and you really mean that you want to play frame 2 of
rotando6.swf, you must wait until loading of rotando6.swf is
complete before executing your goto method.

Go to frame, play a few then load movie?
I am working on a continously playing banner that has 5
different movies. there is a navigation bar below with 5 buttons,
one for each movie. There is also a puase/play button so you can
stop the animation and resume it. What I cant figure out is how to
actionscript the buttons. I need them to jump to a particular frame
in the current movie, play a specific set of frames (the outro
animation sequence), then load the appropriate movie.

watching the animation, Movie #1 ends and loads Movie #2 and I am
on Movie #1 but I decide I want to jump to movie #4 (there are 5
movies altogether), I click on the button for Movie 4, it then
jumps to the frames I labelled to play the outro, then loads Movie
4.
So in one scenario I can watch all 5 movies in sequence. At
the end of each movie is the frame:

difference is that my "slide show" plays continuosly (will
autonmatically go to the next "slide") whereas you have to choose a
link on the bottom on the the micron.com one to go to another
slide.

Most of my movie loads in frame 0

I try to put a preloader on my movie but (according to
"simulate
preloading" most of the items loads on frame zero (yes 0) ...
so the
preloader appears only *after* most of it has been loaded. Is
there a
way to go around this.
Explanation.:
The _root contains :
Frame 1: a preloader
Frame 3: some components, a holder_mc which in turn contains
a page_mc
containing serveral other Movie Clips. The entie thing is
approx 500Kb.
When I simulate download on Flash8 (AS 2.0) most of the
loading (approx
350 Kb) is done before my preloader (in frame one of the
root) has a
chance to appear.

However, a simpler solution is just to abandon QT in favour of the free, open-source player VLC, which plays just about everything natively without further downloads.

I need to know how to down load movies,from my DVDs, onto my hp computer and then down load them onto my iPad
I read the thread question differently than you did I think. I did not think the DVD in question was a commercial DVD. However, you have much more experience in this discussion board than I do. You probably have seen this question many times and assumed (apparently correctly) that it was a commercial DVD.
I was answering the question based on it being a DVD created within a work/home environment that is needed to be put on the iPad. I have been toying around with that exact process in the past week. Work training videos etc, that I have created, put on DVD then downloaded to my iPad for travel and display.

When we play movies how do all our moves show up on Apple TV, The digital copies of DVDs we bought don't show up. Why when we play movies some start to play automatically and others have to load for 2 hours? They both show they are on iCloud.

Hi everyone,
I'm running After Effects CS6 (11.0.4.2) on a MacBook Pro 2.8Ghz with 16GB RAM (Mac OS 10.9.4)
As a test, I created a 3 and a half minute Sequence in Adobe Premiere CS6, and then imported this into After Effects CS6, and placed it on the AE timeline.
This footage involves a couple of 1920x1080p footage movies, some psds and a large number of JPGs exported from two videos arranged as a sequence in two layers in Premiere, one on top of the other. So all in all for a Premiere / After Effects file I'd say it's reasonably heavy.
I then did a RAM Preview with Multiprocessing switched off - the 3 and a half minute sequence loaded into RAM, taking about 1min 30seconds, and played back in realtime at 25fps. This worked fine with 3,4,5 and 6 GB RAM available to other applications in the Memory Preferences. All things considered I think this is quite good. I can make changes, reclick the RAM Preview icon and my changes load into RAM and it previews ok.
My only 'complaint' is how long the RAM Preview takes to load up the whole thing.
I've been reading up on Multiprocessing and decided to try this to see if I can speed up the time it takes my RAM Preview to load up.
So I looked at some recommendations from Adobe and read information on various forums including this one.
My settings in the Memory Preferences are currently
• 6GB reserved for other applications
• Reduce cache size when system is low on memory - unticked
• After Effects Multiprocessing - ticked
• Installed CPUs (processor cores) - 8
• CPUs reserved for other applications - 6
• RAM allocation per background CPU - 3GB
• Actual CPUs that will be used - 2
This combination takes about 25 seconds to load up my 3 and a half minute sequence which I thought was pretty amazing.
I then pressed the stop button and then the play button - so now just playing the sequence briefly.
And also added a new layer - into the timeline - just a simple shape.
Then I tried a RAM Preview again.
I found I could load up part of the sequence but not load the whole thing into RAM.
I kept trying to get a RAM Preview and got this message
"After Effects error: RAM Preview needs 2 or more frames to playback" which seems to prevent RAM Preview from working.
Eventually I quit and restarted After Effects and the problem went away temporarily and then came back when I tried again.
I tried various changes to the Memory Preferences - trying 3GB available for other applications. This gave 13GB of my 16GB RAM to After Effects.
This made it take slightly longer for the After Effects error to appear but it still appeared.
I tried ticking Reduce Cache size in the Memory Prefs - the After Effects error still appeared, so having read this is supposed to make the issue better I now leave it untucked, but as far as I can see ticked or untucked, it makes no difference, the problem remains.
I've since tried -
Making 2,3,4,5 and 6 CPUs available for other applications.
Changing the Background RAM allocation per background CPU to 0.75GB, 1GB, 1.5GB, 2GB and 3GB
Lots of combinations.
But in the end, I always get the "After Effects error: RAM Preview needs 2 or more frames to playback" error.
It might take less or more time for the message to show up, depending on the combination of settings, but in the end I always got the same message appearing.
And I notice that I can RAM Preview less and less of the timeline. i.e. it becomes more blue than it does green and will load in only a small section of the timeline as opposed to the whole thing.
Reading further, I tried Edit > Purge > Image Cache and Edit > Purge > All Memory but still get the error message.
I also tried ensuring there were no other applications running e.g. Safari or Chrome or Firefox. And certainly not Photoshop or Premiere etc.
Reading even further, I tried two Memory management applications - 'Memory Clean' and 'Purge.'
Neither has had any effect - the After Effects error still appears.
Then I went back into the Memory and Multiprocessing Preferences.
I unticked Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously. And now the RAM Preview loads the whole 3 and half minute sequence in entirety, taking about 1 and half minutes to do so. It's working as perfectly as if I'd just quit and re-opened the application.
Then I went back into the Memory and Multiprocessing Preferences.
I reticked Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously.
The chose Edit > Purge > All
And tried a RAM Preview again. It loaded up in 25 seconds, but then, as previously, the error message came.
I tried Edit > Purge All - no effect.
And I tried going into the Media and Disk Cache Preferences and clicked Empty Disk Cache - still the problem remains.
I understand from my reading that After Effects CS6 11.0.2 was intended to fix this issue but I'm on 11.0.4 and as far as I can tell, I still have it - assuming it's the same thing.
As far as I can see, not using Multiprocessing allows me to work without these errors but take a bit longer to load the RAM Preview.
However I'd like to be able to use Multiprocessing as it seems it can potentially speeds things up quite a lot. I realise I could just not use it and AE would work, but I'd rather be able to make use of a feature of the software if possible, especially if it will speed things up and make optimum use of the my computer's hardware.
I've downloaded a trial copy of After Effects CC 2014. I'm still testing it but as far as I can see the RAM Preview error appears in this version of AE as well, but can take bit longer to show up in my experience.

JohnYou need to have much more RAM reserved for other applications and more CPUs reserved for other applications. Your current settings are crippling your performance.

AE CC 2014.1.1 the plague of "ram preview needs 2 or more frames"
As i said abot Premiere CC 2014.1, for me AE CC 2014.1.1 is the worst version of this sw ever on my system. Specs:
i7980x
GTX680 4GB
24GB ram
Asus P6T deluxe mobo
2 SSD Intel, one for AE cache
I'm experiencing continuos crash from AE. I'm on a big project, as always, and performance is terrible. After a bit of time of working AE became terribly slow. The "blu" bar under the preview window start load again and again. I move the mouse, loading, i scroll the window, loading, press caps lock to stop the preview....loading. This is the sympthon. After this kind of wierd performance i know that my ram preview will not start again. The infamous message will pop up and doesn't matters what i do, purge, format ram or whatever. the only way is to close AE and reopen it.
Now...i'm using AI files or PSD files, so i've to run AE and Photoshop or AI all toghether....after some minutes...the bar loading, the performance slows down and the message pop up again.
The ridicoulous fact is that when i render the project i have the ram usage at 19% and cpu usage at max 60%. So my renders are really long (about 10hr for 2 minutes of animations), but my system is sitting there doing nothing. Really odd...i can use 12GB of ram and half of the cores at this point, doesn't matter for AE performance...Right! It's got a little bit worse... After the 'RAM preview needs 2 or more frames' window I purged then restarted and all was back on track for about 5 minutes, then it happened again and then the following series of warnings have locked AE in a cycle of warnings...

The file is 'just' a series of After Effects solids with masks (about 40), rigged together with Duik IK (not the puppet tool thing just the one that links layers together) and some wavs for the sound file.
Like I say I've probably done hours of lipsyncing over the last 15 years with far far heavier files (using HD footage and a far bigger comp with psd files) and I certainly haven't had this kind of persistent problem and it's only since I installed CC2014 last week...

Remove loaded movie after new loadMovie has been loaded
i need to unload a movie once the new loadMovie is fully
loaded because once i click on my button to do so, my current
loaded movie goes away & the screen is white until the new
loaded movie is loaded. (i hope that made sense)well I've done it a few ways successfully.

Drawing order of curve behind loaded movie
Hi,
I'm having an issue with the draw order of curve that's drawn
using Actionscript. In terms of the order of execution of the
function call, I have a SWF loaded first using the loadMovie
function. Then I call the curveTo function with certain parameters
to try to draw a curve on top of the loaded movie. However, the
strange behavior is that the line is hidden behind the movie clip.
I've used swapDepths, but it wasn't working for me. Also tried
using the createEmptyMovieClip function with a depth number
assigned, but didn't do the trick. Any suggestion?1. there's no reason for an onEnterFrame loop.
2. there's no reason to use any setInterval() functions in the code you showed.
3. you should be using the same function to load your swfs. if some logic is needed to position, for example, the different swfs in different locations, the logic should be in that function.
ie, you should be using something like:

I found a sample video from your brand model camera and have tested it in my Premiere Elements 10 on Windows 7 64 bit.
The sample that I test
AVCHD video compression
.swot audio compression
.mov file extension wrapper format
1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 progressive frames per second
I set the Premiere Elements 10 project preset =
NTSC
DSLR
1080p
DSLR 1080p30 @ 29.97
I imported the video (saved to my computer desktop) into the project via the program's Get Media/Files and folders. What I imported had the gspot readout out as show in the following screenshot
This video on the Timeline displayed with perfect video and audio at play back in the Edit Mode monitor. No green video.
Since you are using Premiere Elements 10, I believe that we need to focus on the video card, especially if your video card is from NVIDIA. If so, the answer may be to roll back the video card driver version rather than to assure that you have the latest video card version. Please check out the following

Whenever I load a movie clip into the target and test my
movie, the loaded movie clip always loads in the bottom right. I
think this is a registration error but I am not sure how to fix it.
My target is 835px by 635px, same as the movie clip I want to load.
Any help would be much appreciated.Position the blank movie clip in the top left corner where
you want to have
the external movie clip loaded.
Note that if the external movie clip has dynamic content
creation via AS or
different content size on higher numbered frames you may find
it will show
content to the left and top of the blank movie clip because
initial size is
not detectable. In particular if you are loading Flash movie
that you
created that you used a third party tool such as xCelsius. In
this case you
need to MovieClipLoader and once the onLoadInit event fires,
manually
position the blank movie clip which is passed as an argument
for coding
convenience.

Unable to load movie playlist?
I'm really starting to regret Upgrading to Director 11. I
didn't have any of these issues going from MX to MX 2004. All I'm
trying to do is make a simple projector work on a Mac and it's one
issue after another. Not to mention all this after updating a whole
boat load of Xtras 11 requires.
The new one is this;
Unable to load movie playlist. Does the INI file exsist? It
must contain a section '(Movies)' with an entry
'Movies01=pathname.dir'.
I've already read a couple of other forum post with the same
error message going on with others but can't find certain files
required to make the fix like the 'Projec32.skl',
and I don't know how to read, let alone make an .INI file.
I'll mention I got this error after updating to Shockwave 11
EVEN though I was not publishing a Shockwave movie.
I know I just need to include a certain file on my CD when I
burn one because all works great on the desk top, but I'm throwing
darts trying to figure out what the CD burn is missing.
So to make a long story short does anyone know what I might
be missing?
I'm new to making director movies for the Mac, and even using
a Mac so I might need it spelled out a little more for being a
novice.

PS I tried making a Mac Projector from my PC with no good
results either.This is a very frustrating problem. I have run into it as well, but can't tell you exactly how I solved it, its been a while since I've seen it. It does have something to do with the length of the path to your projector when its published. I would suggest moving your movie as close as possible to the root of the drive, you may even want to restart to ensure all the internal variables have been reset and then republish the movie.
If you publish the movie from your authoring location and then copy the projector to a cd or the desktop the path length seems to be built into the projector at publishing. So that does not solve the problem. It is fairly easy to get a long path name - c:/mylocaldrive/documents and settings/yourusername/yourprojectsfolder/yourprojectname.dir has a path name length of 100 characters! I realize you are on a mac, but the same rules apply.
I also might be mistaken with the maximum path length. Perhaps its 128 characters?
Has anyone else run into this error?

Need Help Loading SWF in a FLA
I simply want to call a swf into an existing fla. I have
tried everything. When dragging the timeline, you see the swf. When
you preview, it is not there. Background - I have an exisiting fla
that contains the image background for all. I want to set a
transparent carousel menu on top of the background that is in the
fla and leave the existing background and lower objects in place.
The carousel.swf will need to call java and an xml file on the web
server.....all external to the "summed" final. If I could layer
flashed in DW, then the problem would also be solved. Please be
detailed, I am obviously not a developer.although I'm not certain why you would not just 'place' the
background 'image' on the stage in the fla (probably because you
wish to change it dynamically down the road) - you need to 'load'
the swf, not 'place' it within the other file. you do this with the
MovieClipLoader class.
with the swf that you wish to load in the same directory as
the swf of the carousel file, place something like the following in
the first frame, on a layer called actions, in the actions panel: -

which works fine when i load the movie in firefox by itself.
The problem comes when I load the movie via the index movie.
If the new movie with the loadvars is loaded into level 9,
how do I reference it?
_level9.newsMov.myData.newsVar doesn't seem to work... any
other ideas?
