URGENT: OVD 11g SQL Adapter?

Hi all,
I have a requirement to have OVD 11g talk to MY SQL backend. Is there a connector/adapter available out of the box for OVD 11g? If so, can you please give the links to documentation? If it is not available, can someone throw light on building a custom connector/adapter for OVD11g? This is very urgent.
Thanks,
Mahendra.

I think there is a template for MySQL 5.x adapter in OVD 11g. Not 100% sure though. Even if there is not, you can use the "custom" database adapter template, which will work. Here is the link which describes the adapters in OVD: http://www.art2dec.com/documentation/docs/fmw11g1114documentation/oid.1111/e10046/basic_adapters.htm#CHDFCEAE
Read the section on "custom url" for database adapters and you would be good. You will have to place the required sql jar files in the OVD lib path as well.
Hope this helps. Let us know.
PS: Do not write "urgent" in public posts for people who are volunteering to help for free. :-)

  • URGENT: OVD adapter

    Hi All,
    I have below requirement:
    Our OID 11g has entry cn=SeedRoleGroups,cn=Groups,dc=oracle,dc=com. There is one entry under this called cn=SeedRoleGroup9,cn=SeedRoleGroups,cn=Groups,dc=oracle,dc=com. This entry has cn=RoleGroupD,cn=Roles,cn=DomainA,cn=Domains,dc=oracle,dc=com as uniquemember.
    In the RoleGroupD entry cn=RoleGroupD,cn=Roles,cn=DomainA,cn=Domains,dc=oracle,dc=com it has unique member uid=admin, cn=users, dc=oracle,dc=com which is a user.
    Now I want to have the entries in OVD 11g as shown below:
    cn=AggregatedGroups will contain the SeedRoleGroup entries, but will also show the users as uniquemembers.
    i.e.
    cn=AggregatedGroups
    cn=SeedRoleGroup1
    cn=SeedRoleGroup2
    cn=SeedRoleGroup9
    uniquemember=cn=RoleGroupD,cn=Roles,cn=DomainA,cn=Domains,dc=oracle,dc=com
    uniquemember=uid=admin, cn=users, dc=oracle,dc=com
    Can someone throw light how to achieve this? I have tried with join adapter and it is showing only entries of cn=SeedRoleGroup9,cn=SeedRoleGroups,cn=Groups,dc=oracle,dc=com which has uniquemember as cn=RoleGroupD,cn=Roles,cn=DomainA,cn=Domains,dc=oracle,dc=com but I also want user uid=admin, cn=users, dc=oracle,dc=com as uniquemember in the same cn=SeedRoleGroup9....
    Can this be achieved using Join adapter? If so please help with Join Rules.

  • OVD 11g - How to do Join in DB Adapter?

    I must be missing something but for the life of me I cannot see where in the OVD 11g administrative user interface (i.e., ODSM) I can set a join condition between 2 tables in a single database adapter.
    In the 10g Eclipse based interface there was a panel between the selection of tables and the mapping of LDAP attributes to columns that allowed me to provide join conditions between the selected tables. For example I could add HR.EMPLOYEES and HR. JOBS to the adapter and then tell the adapter to do a join on EMPLOYEES.JOB_ID=JOBS.JOB_ID.
    I have crawled through the admin guide and stared at the new 11g based web interface for creating/updating the adapter and for the life of me I can't see where or how to specify this join condition within a single database adapter instance? Did that get dropped somehow in the conversion from Eclipse to ADF? If so am I going to have to 'backdoor' the join via the adapter.os_xml file?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi, Did you find a solution? I am looking to doing a simple join between 2 tabls too and do not see any way of specifying it in the DB adapter..
    Thanks!

  • Need to create OVD 11g java plugin to process data inside DB Adapter

    Hi All,
    I have OVD 11g setup and I have created one Database Adapter which retrives the database(sybase) values. The values present in DB contains white spaces at the end. So when this DB adapter displays the search result, it contains the white space as some special characters ,E.g(India_/_/_/). I cant do any modification in the DB. So I have to write a plugin which I need to add to the existing DB Adapter. The plugin should trim the white space in the value that we received from DB before it is displayed in the client. Even I am new to OVD plugin creation. help me with some sample code of this kind. I have code through API guide and plugin developer guide which confuses a lot saying lot of chain concepts and etc. So help me with basic implementation points where I can intercept the data received thro DB adapter and I can trim the white space and I can pass to the client.

    Thank you, that's very helpful.
    Creating an virtualattribute plugin with
    ContainerDN = "ou=orgTree,dc=org"
    ReplaceAttribute = supervisor = { cn=%supervisor%, ou=orgTree, dc=org }
    now populates a supervisor entry with supervisor being the RCU_OIM:ACT.PARENT_KEY value.
    However, that value is an integer, pointing the the key of the parent. Can I resolve the key to be SELECT RCU_OIM:ACT.ACT_NAME from RCU_OIM:ACT where RCU_OIM:ACT.ACT_KEY = %supervisor% ?
    Do I need to create another adapter, and perform a join? If so, can I use the same adapter? ie: the data that I need is all in the ACT table, so creating another seems a bit excessive.
    Thank you.

  • RDN of the join Adapter in OVD 11G

    Hi,
    In OVD 11G for a Join view adapter, the RDN on the join Adapter is from the primary adapter by default.
    Is there any way to configure the Join adapter so the RDN on the join adapter is from the RDN of the non-primary adapter.
    Any helps on this is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • Calling Foreign JMS in SOA Suite 11g JMS Adapter

    Hi,
    Just want to get some guidance in the implementation of Foreign JMS in WebLogic 10.3.
    I followed the creation of the Foreign JMS Server using this document:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/apirefs.1111/e13952/taskhelp/jms_modules/foreign_servers/CreateForeignServers.html
    I am trying to connect to a remote Weblogic 10.3 JMS queue but cannot get pass the JDev wizard stage.
    I need to call the foreign JMS via the Fusion 11g JMS Adapter but cannot lookup the destination from the JDev wizard. My composite will produce a message that will end up in the remote queue.
    Has anybody got this to work? Is this supported in JMS Adapter? I've read quite a few using MDB to call the Foreign JMS but not JMS Adapter.
    Regards,
    Robert

    Please refer to the following document that shows how to access remote wls jms queues and topics. This is the preferred way when accessing remote wls destinations.

  • Notice update or delete in Database via WCF SQL Adapter

    Hi Folks,
    i try to notice any changes in a database table via SQL Adapter: so i check for a special column wich contains '0' for new datasets and '1' for those i already copied via BizTalk.
    This works fine as long as you only insert datasets, update or delete is not recocnized...
    Whats the best or possible way to react on these actions too?
    Thanks for your Ideas!

    Hi,
    I am shure there are many different approaches so here is what I have in mind:
    In case you need to react to deleted rows in your original table you need a sub table to trigger your biztalk for datasets that do not exist any longer.
    In this table you need 2 colums:
    first one to correlate to your original data row (id),
    second one to hold the status: For ex. 0= new, 1=update, 3=deleted
    Then you need a
    Trigger event on your original table that sets the status for the modified data id in your new table.
    You can then poll on this sub table as you already mentioned in your question.

  • How do you configure a WCF-SQL adapter to write data from a SQL2012 "always on" database?

    Hi All,
    I have a BizTalk environment. I have to write the data from BizTalk to the database which is configured using ALWAYS ON availability group.
    I use WCF-SQL adapter to write the data. My question is this setup a supported?

    The answer is NO.
    Refer: Can
    I use a BizTalk WCF-SQL send adapter with a SQL 2012 Always on Database?
    A snippet quoted below.
    In summary (in order of preference):
    Disable AlwaysOn Availability Groups / Mirroring on SQL server if you need to connect to this SQL server which has this enabled
    Disable transactions and implement logic to be able to handle duplicates .
    Disable transactions and handle the duplicates or lost messages with custom logic (e.g. Send twice and compare and implement error handling). You need to write your own DTC handling this which
    is probably very complicated.
    Disable transactions and live with risk of duplicates or lost messages without handling duplicates.
    Refer: SQL Server AlwaysOn feature does not support MSDTC transactions.

  • Jdbc-odbc java error using SQL adapter in o9iASWireless

    I've used the SQL adapter in the previous releases of wireless without any problem. Most of the time I would use it for all the wireless PLSQL applications in the Oracle database and it works very OK.
    I have also used it to connect with a SQLserver database to try out some queries. In this case I would use the standard JDBC/ODBC bridge driver from SUN.
    In release 2.0 I can't connect with this SQL Server database anymore.
    I've added a system DSN to the ODBC configuration of the Windows 2000 server. This will give access to a internal SQL server database via TCP. A password username is required.
    When I try to add a SQLservice in the service designer using the SQL adapter I will use the following parameters:
    JDBC connect string: JDBC:ODBC:<DSNNAME>
    JDBC driver: sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver
    un: <username>
    pw: password>
    Query (without ';'): select count(*) from <tablename>
    Minimum number of Database connections in the pool 5
    Maximum number of Database connections in the pool 100
    Increment size for the connection pool 1
    Idle Timeout (in minutes) 30
    Now I get the following error:

    I got the error 'java.lang.ClassCastException: sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcConnection' in my log and tried to find out the meaning of this error at java.sun.com. It's stil not clear what exactly causes the error but it looks like a data formatting error.
    java.lang.ClassCastException
    (Thrown to indicate that the code has attempted to cast an object to a subclass of which it is not an instance. For example, the following code generates a ClassCastException:
    Object x = new Integer(0);
    System.out.println((String)x); )
    Is it just a data formatting problem or has it something to do with the JDBC/ODBC driver version of the JDK from the appliction server release 2.0.
    I remember that I was always able to connect to the SQL server database with previous releases also with a count query. I've also used JDK 1.3.1 with o9iAS release 1.0.2.1.
    Any suggestions for a solution?

  • Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I 1Z0-051 Question

    i bought the OCA Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide (Exam 1Z0-051) and i am not sure do i have to read the whole book ! or just go through the exam objectives table ? because the book covers lots of topics that's not in the exam and i am kind of tight on time if any one had the book or used it pls help
    To make it more clear i have a table in the book that shows each exam topic with page number next to it Like this:
    Restricting and Sorting Data
    [ ]      Limit the rows that are retrieved by a query Pg:104
    [ ]      Sort the rows that are retrieved by a query Pg:136
    [ ]      Use ampersand substitution to restrict and sort output at runtime
    Using Single-Row Functions to Customize Output
    [ ]      Describe various types of functions available in SQL Pg:170
    [ ]      Use character, number, and date functions in SELECT statements Pg:177

    Yes indeed. Practice at work (and elsewhere) is the best way to learn and ro reinforce learning.
    However, the more you read, the more you will be exposed to ideas and variations. Eventually you will find that many of the books have errors in various places. You will be winning when you are able to read and identify the errors AND explain why they are errors.
    The way your original question was written implied that you were after the minimum effort to pass an exam. Your last reply implies a different, and better, attitude.
    My suggestion therefore is to concentrate on the actual examples, but as quickly as possible expand to areas of interest. Explore as much as you possibly can, but make it a 'learning exploration' byut asking yourself questions and then investigating what the answer is.
    Also note that in Oracle nearly every answer has an exception. The best of the best know this and try very hard to understand when things go according to plan and when (and why) expections occur.

    java.lang.ClassCastException
    Thrown to indicate that the code has attempted to cast an object to a subclass of which it is not an instance. For example, the following code generates a ClassCastException:
    Object x = new Integer(0);
    System.out.println((String)x);
    Is it just a data formatting problem or has it something to do with the JDBC/ODBC driver version of the JDK from the appliction server release 2.0.
    I remember that I was always able to connect with the SQL server database with previous releases also with a count query. I've also used JDK 1.3.1 with o9iAS release 1.0.2.1.
    Any suggestions for solution?
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    The old deprecated SQL Adapter (consider switching to the new WCF-SQL!), does not hold any option for disabling DTC when communicating with a remote SQL Server. Not that it is ever a good idea to disable transactions when using BizTalk Adapters, BizTalk
    is only a reliable engine as long as all the protocols behave in a transnational manner.
    I have experienced DTC problems where DTCTester.exe said everything was fine, but DTCPing.exe still reported a problem. Can you run the DTCPing test both ways (BizTalk -> SQL and vice versa).

  • SQL adapter

    I've used the SQL adapter in the previous releases of wireless without any problem. Most of the time I would use it for all the wireless PLSQL applications in the Oracle database and it works very OK.
    I have also used it to connect with a SQLserver database to try out some queries. In this case I would use the standard JDBC/ODBC bridge driver from SUN.
    In release 2.0 I can't connect with this SQL Server database anymore.
    I've added a system DSN to the ODBC configuration of the Windows 2000 server. This will give access to the internal SQL server database via TCP. A password username is required.
    When I try to add a SQLservice in the service designer using the SQL adapter I will use the following parameters:
    JDBC connect string: JDBC:ODBC:<DSNNAME>
    JDBC driver: sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver
    un: <username>
    pw: password>
    Query (without ';'): select count(*) from <tablename>
    Minimum number of Database connections in the pool 5
    Maximum number of Database connections in the pool 100
    Increment size for the connection pool 1
    Idle Timeout (in minutes) 30
    Now I get the following error:
    2/8/03 2:27:59 PM ERROR : [ApplicationServerThread] webtool.common.PtgErrorLog.outputError(PtgErrorLog.java:28)

    After using the production version of wireless (9.0.3) I still can not use the jdbc-odbc bridge in the SQL adapter. It used to work with the 1.1 releases.
    I still het the class cast exception:
    6/11/03 11:52:04 AM ERROR : [ApplicationServerThread-7] webtool.common.PtgErrorLog.outputError(Unknown Source)

    Does anyone has suggestions? I still use the parameters above.

  • Polling using WCF SQL Adapter

    Hi - I have to develop this in BizTalk
    There is a table in SQL database where BizTalk needs to poll the data using WCF SQL Adapter.
    How and what query/stored proc do I need to write ?
    and how about polling interval should I mention.
    Is there any detailed blog or link which clearly explains this, will be helpful
    MBH

    The first thing that you should remember is that the most effective way of getting data from SQL would be if you could remove the records after reading them. This was something that the native SQL Server adapter supported. For WCF-SQL, the way to achieve
    this is to
    Create a SP which is what you will specify as the execute statement for your adapter. This SP would, on the basis of TOP 1, get the ID, read the record and delete it. Then it would return the read data. You will generate schemas for this SP and deploy them
    for subscribing to the received messages.
    You will create a query that returns the count of records from the said table which you will use as the polling query. This will ensure that the adapter uses this on the configured interval to see if data exists. If it exists, it would use the execute statement
    (invoking your SP) to get the data.
    There is an option to keep executing the SP while data is available. This ensures that if more than ONE record is inserted into your table, all the records would be picked up after the first polling interval (as opposed to poll, pick-up one, poll and then
    pick up the other, etc.). Be careful while setting the polling interval (you cannot go beyond 1 sec) since this depends on your SQL servers ability to process the data.
    With regards to documentation, I'd refer you to
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd788532.aspx - Polling SQL Server by using the WCF-SQL Adapter.
