Urgent - Report Column based on LOV - Value not found in LOV

Hi All,
Recently, we have upgraded to HTMLDB 2.0 from HTMLDB 1.5.
I have a SQL report. One of the columns is based upon LOV - Display as Text (Based on LOV, does not save state).
For the "Ids" of the report, it should display the corresponding "Names" from the LOV.
But, for the cases, where no record exist in LOV for some Id, then it is directly showing the Id instead of "-" (which i have specified in Display Null Text) in the report column attributes.
Before upgrade, it was working fine.
Any idea where is the issue.
Please help.
Thanks in advance,
Monika

Hi,
Can anybody help me in sorting out this issue please.
For your reference, i have made a test case on
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=20451:4:3519837362944582:::::
Here, there are 2 tables
1. MY_EMP_COUNTRY(emoid, empname, cntry_id)
2. MY_COUNTRY_LOOKUP(id, name,active)
LOV is created on table 2
select name d, id r
from my_country_lookup
where active = 'Y'
And, on the page a SQL report is created
select empname, cntry_id
from my_emp_country
where, cntry_id is based upon the LOV.
Since, in lookup table, cntry_id = 4 is set inactive, it is not picked up by the LOV and hence on the report instead of showing the NULL text it is showing the cntry_id (4).
The attributes of report column cntry id -
Named LOV = CNTRY_LOV
Display Null = YES
NULL text = -
Display Extra Value = YES
Am I missing anything.
thanks,
Monika

  • Bug: Report Column based on LOV character string buffer too small error

    When using a column type of "Display as Text (based on LOV, does not save state)" with a result set that is rather large causes a character or string buffer too small oracle error.
    See the below page for an example.
    The example page below has a single report off a table called "HUGE_TABLE" which has two columns: display and code
    Code contains a number between 0 and 100000.
    Display contains the number in code appended to a block of text.
    When I display the report with no Display As Text (based on LOV does not save state) it displays fine.
    If I make the "Code" column display as text based on LOV and make the LOV
    "SELECT display, code FROM huge_table"
    I get the error you see on the page.

    Thanks.

    Thanks for your help Scott.
    So from what I've gathered from my own tests and the discussions you linked me to the LOVs based on SQL queries are being converted into "static LOV" strings before being used.
    As such they are limited to the PL/SQL VARCHAR2 max size of 32767
    Which means given the static reduction of the string 'STATIC:' that we have 32760 characters left.
    Which is where your SUM( LENGTH( display ) + LENGTH( return ) + 2 ) comes in.
    In short, if:
    sum( length( display ) + length( return ) + 2 ) + 7 > 32767
    would evaluate to true then you have a problem. :)
    I'll use this to track down my problems and switch them over to inline queries.
    Thanks.

  • Report headings based on Items: values not substituted in BI Publisher

    That is, custom column headings such as "&P7_HEADING_X.".
    They show up fine as the item values in the browser report, but as the literal ("&P7_HEADING_X.") in BI Publisher output to Excel, Word, etc.
    I've noticed that PL/SQL based headings pass through all right. I can probably use this as a work-around. Is there a way to get BI Publisher to do the item value substitutions ?
    I am working with Application Express 3.1.0.00.32 on apex.oraclecorp.com.
    I've just been introduced to BI Publisher (like today). All I know about it is that you get to it through the Print Attributes panel.

    Mike said: "I am assuming that you are just using the default download and I use the "&." notation in the column headings so it should pass over to word, or excel."
    Yes, this is it. But, when the column headers pass through BI Publisher, they are not substituting (like you said, they "should" but they don't). I wind up with an Excel (or Word, or PDF) file where the column headings are all '&P7_HEADING_01.', '&P7_HEADING_02.', etc.
    Again though, all I know about BIP is that it hooks into APEX by way of the Report "Print Attributes" panel. And, I'm not even so sure about that; there's no indication what's doing the "print" serving behind the scenes.

  • Color report rows based on a value in that row

    I would like to Color report rows based on a value in that row.
    For examplle with the "EMP" table:
    I would like job=MANAGER to be red and job=CLERK to be green etc etc
    The other example I found only had the option of one color either the highlight or the default color.
    I am looking for a way to do multiple colors.

    Hi,
    In the row template, you can use #1#, #2#, etc to indicate where a field in the report needs to be output. This does not have to be plain text - ie, you can use it within style tags if you like.
    So, take a query like:
    SELECT EMPNO,
    ENAME,
    DEPTNO,
    DECODE(DEPTNO, 10, 'green', 20, 'red', 30, 'cyan', 'white') BG_COLOUR
    FROM EMPYou get columns 1=empno, 2=ename, 3=deptno and 4=bg_colour. In the row template, you can then do:
    Before Rows setting (sets up the table):
    <table>
    <tr><td>ID</td><td>Name</td><td>Dept</td></tr>After Rows setting (closes the table):
    </table>Row Template 1 (used for ALL rows):
    <tr style="background-color:#4#;"><td>#1#</td><td>#2#</td><td>#3#</td></tr>Then, for every row, the colour that has been calculated using the DECODE function will be used in the style tag to colour the background for the entire row.
    How you determine the colours is up to you. I've used DECODE here, but you could use a field on the DEPT table to hold this and use this in your SQL statement.

  • Dispaly or Hide a column based on Prompt Value

    Hi All,
    How can I Display or Hide a Column based on Prompt Value selected?
    On my dashboard I have a Report/Request and a Dashboard Prompt.
    Dashboard Prompt has three values, say: *'A', 'B' and 'C'*.
    And my report/request has three columns named *'Field1', 'Field2'* and Field3'.
    What I am trying to achieve is that whenever user selects prompt values as *'A' or 'B'* all the three fields on my report named *'Field1', 'Field2' and Field3'* should be displayed, however whenever user selects prompt values as *'C'* only fields named *'Field1' and 'Field2'* should be displayed.
    Thanks,
    Deepak

    Hi Bhavna,
    I tried using View Selector, however I am not able to achieve the required functionality with that.
    I created a Request with 3 columns in it, then I switched to criteria and added another table to that. The new table automatically got the similar 3 columns used in the first report. Now when I tried to delete one of those columns from the new report, it also got deleted from the first report.
    All the views are dependent, changes made to one are reflected in other.
    Can't figure it out, where am I going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Deepak

  • How to (un)hide report columns based on checkboxes?

    Hello,
    I have a simple report that selects 4 columns from a table.
    I would like to create 2 check boxes (at the report level, not at the row level) corresponding to 2 of the 4 report columns: When they are checked, the corresponding columns are visible. When they are unchecked, the corresponding columns are NOT visible.
    Two questions:
    1.
    This would require submitting the page automatically upon (un)checking either check box. How do I do that?
    2.
    I have attempted to use the Conditional Display properties of the report columns with hard coded values, but they don't seem to work whether the Show property of the columns is on or off. Any idea why and how to get around it? (I am using 3.2. Could this be a bug that has been fixed in 4?)
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    I can not find post where I have explain how sample works.But here it goes:
    You need load jQuery in page template or page HTML header if you are not using Apex 4.
    Create new blank page. In my case new page id is 70.
    Create HTML region to new page called Columns. Use wizard defaults
    Create hidden item Px_REPORT_REGION_NAME. Use wizard defaults.
    In my case hidden item name is P70_REPORT_REGION_NAME .
    Create computation before header for hidden item. Computation Type "Static Assigment".
    In computation write name you like use to your report. My case I did write "Employee report".
    Create SQL Report. In region title place your hidden item like
    &P70_REPORT_REGION_NAME.In my case I did use query
    SELECT *
    FROM empCreate check box. In my case it is called P70_SHOW_HIDE.
    Use from LOV query
    SELECT heading,
      display_sequence
    FROM APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_RPT_COLS
    WHERE application_id = :APP_ID
    AND page_id          = :APP_PAGE_ID
    AND column_is_hidden = 'No'
    AND region_name        = '&'||'P70_REPORT_REGION_NAME'||'.' -- Change P70_REPORT_REGION_NAME to your hidden item name
    ORDER BY 2Place to report region footer
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function hideCol(pThis){
       var lRepId = '#report_data_#REGION_ID#';
       var lCol   = pThis.value;
       if(pThis.checked){
         $(lRepId + ' td:nth-child(' + lCol + ')').show();
         $(lRepId + ' th:nth-child(' + lCol + ')').show();
       }else{
         $(lRepId + ' th:nth-child(' + lCol + ')').hide();
         $(lRepId + ' td:nth-child(' + lCol + ')').hide();
    </script>Edit checkbox item and place to HTML Form Element Attributes
    CHECKED onclick="hideCol(this);"Your report template most inner table tag must have id attribute
    id="report_data_#REGION_ID#"Then you have result like this

  • Limit columns based on variable value

    Gurus,
       My requirement;
       User will enter a value "A" in the variable and based on the value i need to limit
       the columns in the output. for example in the query designer i have 6 fields in
       Rows, in Free Chars i have the field with variable which user will enter. if the value
       entered is "A" only 4 fields should appear on the report else if value is "B" only
       the other 2 fields should appear.
       Is there a way accomplish this...please suggest
    Thanks with points in advance...

    Geni,
    Are u using the Excel based Analyzer as your Front End?
    If so you can run a small VBA (on event SAPBEXonrefresh) that will hide columns based on the value of the cell that displays the value of the variable that the user is setting.
    See code i posted in Re: How do I make cells "0" and not blank for an example.
    Is this what you are after?
    Hope it helps,

  • Value not found in allowed list of options for field...

    Hi,
    I'm using RIDC on UCM 11g in order to checkin contents.
    UCM hosts different projects.
    I've the following problem: if somebody (from a different project) insert a new Information Field (e.g. xAnnoPubblicazione) of type Integer - Option List - Select List Validated and it does not make a default value for this field, when I perform checkin using RIDC, it fails with the error:
    "oracle.stellent.ridc.protocol.ServiceException: Content item 'UCMRE010132' was not successfully checked in. Value not found in allowed list of options for field 'xAnnoPubblicazione'.
    How can I solve this issue? what's the recommended way?
    Thank you very much.
    Best regards,
    S.

    In the database language, you have created a NON NULL column and you are trying to insert a record with NULL value to the column. Of course, it cannot work.
    There are three options:
    - do not declare the field as NON NULL (that is, you option list has to contain 'blank' as a possible value)
    - provide the value on insert
    - provide the default value

  • UJK_VALIDATION_EXCEPTION:Property value not found

    Hi All
    I am getting below error when executing script logic.
    UJK_VALIDATION_EXCEPTION:Property value not found.
    I got Entity and Intco as properties in my dimensions (entity and intco dim).
    *WHEN Z_PARTNERCO
            *IS <> PCC_DEF_CC

    *ENDWHEN
    Any ideas

    Hi Satish,
    that a script works on BPC MS, doesn't automatically means it also works on BPC NW.
    Since you don't specify the dimension Z_COSTOBJECT nor Z_PARTNERCO in the XDIM_MEMBERSET, the logic will try to fetch the properties for all members of these dimensions. When you don't maintain the properties for all members the logic will not work.
    I advice you to make a specification in your XDIM_MEMBERSET for the dimensions Z_COSTOBJECT and Z_PARTNERCO so you know that the properties are maintained for the selection you try to fetch, or you have to maintain the properties for all members of your dimensions Z_COSTOBJECT and Z_PARTNERCO.
    But first i would suggest that your try the logic in the logic tester integrated with BW.
    Run transaction SE38 in the basic screen of BW and than run UJK_SCRIPT_LOGIC_TESTER.
    This will give you a possibility to run your script in a simulation, this way you can test the script first with only one member from which you know the properties are maintained to see if it works.

  • Column based on LOV in a classic report

    In a classic report i want to display a value coming from an lov, based on the value of a column. I can't seem to make this work however, not even on apex.oracle.com. I too am on apex 4.1.
    What i've tried is to set the column to display as text, based on lov. I've tried named static and dynamic lovs, and tried to supply an own lov definition, both static and dynamic. Even apex_item doesn't seem to work.
    As a test, i has set this up on apex.oracle.com:
    Classic report:
    Region source:
    select status, descr, apex_item.text_from_lov(status, 'lov_status') status2
    from
    select 15 status, 'test for status 1' descr from dual
    union all
    select 30 status, 'test for status 2' descr from dual
    union all
    select 45 status, 'test for status 3' descr from dual
    Column attributes for column status:
    Display As: Display as Text (based on LOV, does not save state)
    List of Values -> Named LOV: LOV_STATUS
    LOV_STATUS (shared components -> lists of values):
    this is a static lov, with these values:
    15;'Status One'
    30;'Status Two'
    45;'Status Three'
    60;'Status Four'
    (which could also be used as a non-named lov like: STATIC2:15;'Status One',30;'Status Two',45;'Status Three',60;'Status Four')
    Both column status as status2 simply keep displaying their value, and not the 'display value' i'd expect coming from the lov.
    I could use decode or case, yes. But using an lov keeps it cleaner, especially when there are more than 3 or 4 values, and could be reused in more reports.
    Am i using or doing this wrong?

    Hi Tom,
    revert the order of your LOV items ( so first description and then ID ),
    like for example :
    STATIC2:'Status One';15,'Status Two';30,'Status Three';45,'Status Four';60
    That does the trick ( tried it ).
    If you want to see an example check page 2 of the only app on apex.oracle.com

  • Sorting report by column based on LOV problem...

    All,
    I have an issue with a report I have written.
    I have an LOV based on a sql where which returns an ID as a return value and a CODE as a display value.
    Lets say the LOV returns the following results:
    Return, Display
    1, V
    2, A
    3, T
    When I click on the item column heading to sort the report based on that column the records are in the order 1, 2, 3 and not A, T, V.
    So it looks like it is sorting the results based on the return value and not the display value.
    Is this a feature of displaying items based on LOVs in reports and then sorting on them or am I missing something.
    Hopefully, someone can help me out here as it is driving me mad.
    Regards
    ChrisR

    Chris,
    This didn't change in 3.1 and that is definitely not a bug but a feature. The solution I
    propose is a simple workaround for the special cases of LOV display columns or columns
    where you have an image but still want to do sorting.

    My requirement:  if I'm selecting Date parameter value as '2013-xx-xx' I should only able to see Year column 'Calender2013' and rest of the years should hide. Similarly If I'm selecting Date parameter value as '2014-xx-xx' I should only able to
    see Year column 'Calender2014' .
    Appreciate your kindly help.
    Afan

    Hi Afan,
    According to your description, you want to only show the selected year on your report, right?
    In this case, you need to get the year from the date parameter using the expression below
    =Year(Parameters!Date.Value)
    And then use the expression below to get the year from Year_Name field.
    =Right(Fields!Year_Name.Value,4)
    Then add a filter to the dataset to filter the data like below
    Expression:=Year(Parameters!Date.Value)
    Operator:=
    Value:=Right(Fields!Year_Name.Value,4)

  • Manipulating report column based on another column value?

    Here is what I am trying to do.
    1.     I have a report region which has 2 columns.
    2.     Both the columns are setup as links to navigate to a different page. I am using <img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#e2.gif" alt="Edit"> for link text report item attribute.
    3.     The value can be either in column 1 or 2 but not in both the columns at the same time.
    4.     If the value is existing in column1, the column 2 should display as null, which I have trouble with. I can see the images even though the value is null.
    Appreciate if you can let me know how to achieve this?
    Edited by: user552288 on Jul 15, 2009 7:45 AM

    Could you please post the current query which you are using?
    Instead of using the image display attribute in the report attributes column, can you include that part of the query.
    Something like:
    select
    (case when col1!=NULL then <img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#e2.gif" alt="Edit">) else 'NULL' as Column1,
    (case when col2!=NULL then <img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#e2.gif" alt="Edit"> ) else 'NULL' as Column2
