You can place the xslt code and xml file in a single folder, zip it an import it into PI as an external definition. I think this should work

Thank you for your reply.    But my requirements are such that they need to be independent, and not be in the same imported archive (ie ZIP file).    In my case the XSLT code is a standard product that is the same across multiple installations,  but each installation may required some installation specific cross reference values that would be maintained in the XML file.    So I need them separated so if I make updates to my XSLT and distribute it, I do not wipe out the installation specific settings that have been made to the XML file.

    I checked the reference that you cited (XSLT Transformation).   The reference omits discussing how to use xlst document() function within a stylesheet.  I think that probably means that feature of xslt technology is not directly available through LiveCycle.  When I find a workaround, I'll post an update...for the user community that might encounter the same issue.  Thank you for your response and insight.  Regards, jb1809

    I'm trying to use an external xml document in an xsl transform that's used in a Transform activity in an 11g BPEL process:
    <xsl:variable name="plants" select="document('plantTransposeLookup.xml')/plants"/>
    I need to load up the document to use it in a lookup to get replacement values for a key.
    This works fine in JDev, but not when I deploy it to the server.
    The error I get when I run it is:
    The XPath expression failed to execute; the reason was: javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: XML-22021: (Error) Error parsing external document: 'no protocol: plantTransposeLookup.xml'.. Check the detailed root cause described in the exception message text and verify that the XPath query is correct.
    I've also gotten:
    The XPath expression failed to execute; the reason was: javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: XML-22021: (Error) Error parsing external document: 'Unsupported feature: 'document(''), when stylesheet built using InputStream, Reader'.
    I've also tried using the ora:doc function:
    <xsl:variable name="plants" select="ora:doc('plantTransposeLookup.xml', 'plants')"/>
    ......but this doesn't work in JDev and is also erroring off on the server with:

    In OSB, document() function needs absolute path of the XML file. So if you want to access the XML document for lookup, you need to put the XML file on the server itself and use the path of the XML file.
    Although this is not a correct approach for managing lookups in OSB. The resource of XML Document type are not to be used for such use cases. What you can do is create a XQuery which can server as DVM.

    If you dont want to use XQuery and want to rely only on XSLT, then within the same XSLT document create a separate template which can store all the lookup data.

    Can someone send me some sample code for using function modules CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_HEADER and CHANGEDOCUMENT_READ_POSITIONS?  I'm specifically looking for changes that occured to the standard price field in the material master (MBEW-STPRS) and I need to pull the most recent price change for a given material.  I'm not sure how to write the code efficiently since I don't have a date to pass (again, since we're looking for the most recent change.)

  • Use of document function in XSL

    We have an existing XSL document which uses a separate XML document for mapping of enumerated values. So in the XSL document, we have a line in our XSL as follows:
    <xsl:variable name="enum-doc" select="document('enumerations.xml')"/>
    Followed by a load of:
    <xsl:key name="a-name" match="//enum[@name ='a-name']/enumeration" use="@value"/> etc.
    We would like to use the existing XSL in BPEL. Is this possible? We have been able to deploy the mapping XML file with our BPEL process, but the XML mapping file is not beinig picked up by our XSL, so in our output we have a lot of missing enumerated values.
    Any suggestions?

    We managed to resolve the problem (We were using the wrong namespace in the XML mapping file).
    So to confirm, it is possible to use the document function in an XSL transform within a BPEL process.

    Formatting a disk always erases all the data on it. Your only option is to back it up elsewhere and restore it once formatted.

    Sorry, perhaps I should have been clearer! The function that I picked just to test what you need to do just happened to return a string that contains SPAN tags with style attributes. The actual function code is:

  • HT2518 which program can I use to open a Word file that is formatted for use ONLY on a PC?

    I hve a word doc that is formatted only for use on a PC. I cannot change the file at the request of the sender. Is there a way to open and fill out the word document on a mac. I used to have Parrelles which allowed me to do so but no longer have this program. Specifically the word document has pre-programmed drop downs in the form. They do not function, nor allow me to type a word into the field.

    There is no such thing as a Word file formatted only for a PC.
    You need a copy of Word to open it (Word for Mac), it may also work with Open Office and Libre Office, these are free to download.

    Firefox uses this format to access shared files on a local network... file://///host/path eg file://///computername/sharename/MyDocs/filename.txt.
    This format is different from the standard form file://host/path that is used on other browsers eg Windows, Chrome.
    This means that Firefox does not give me access to shared files when I have coded the standard format URI into my local HTML documents. Why is Firefox different or non-standard.

    How can I generate such output using XSL. I even tried <xsl:key> but its not working fine. Can anyone have any ideas for generating such output using xsl.

  • Best external hard drive format for use with mac and windows?

    This is more of an apple operating system combined with windows operating system question, but being that my OS will upgrade an fluctuate there is not option to choose in the operating system section.
    Anyways to the question(s)
    This whole prbolem came about when my computer started having issues, I want to back it up and whether I can continue to use my laptop or not I will still be owning an apple in the future. I went to buy a hard for back up and got told that it is not as easy as one would think to transfer files from mac OS to windows OS and vice versa. I have a mac, my boyfriend has a windows computer; we share files. Mostly I just copy his files, but once in a while I give him files too. I have read up and talked to people and only found one solution so far to format the external drive to fat 32 or exfat. I think only mac has the exfat option, but works well between both OSs, correct me if I am wrong.
    What is the difference between fat 32 and exfat?

    I still do not know which format would be the best. That is so that I can use it easily between mac OSX and windows. Is FAT32 the only true option? How limited is it? I heard it is limited to 4GB file size for windows and 32 GB for Mac. Are there other sources I have not found with more concrete information on the limitations of this format?
    I really do still need this information and I need to back up my drive before I can take the computer in for service.

    I want to instal a program onto an external hard drive for use on both mac and windows. The program supports both mac and windows.
    My plan is to get an external hd and partition it in half. One half i will format mac os extended and the other i will format ntfs. I'll instal the mac version on the mac partition and the windows version on the ntfs partition.
    This should work i'm thinking, yes? I.e. when i plug it into windows it'll run the windows installation no problem and when i plug it into the mac it'll run the mac installation no problem?

    An easier solution might be to just connect the drive to a Windows PC and format it as FAT32. Both Windows (98 and higher) as well as Mac allow full read/write access to FAT32 formatted drives. No need to download any drivers, etc. It just works.
    Yes, this solution is not perfect, but none are. The free NTFS drivers for Mac are not most efficient drivers for speed/performance, the HFS+ drivers for Windows are not cheap, and have their own performance issues, and FAT32 has the limit of file sizes over 2GB (or is it 4GB now?) not supported. No one solution is perfect, but for the many one is better than the others, but it all depends upon their circumstances which is "better".
