URLPortlet with dynamic HTML pagenames

I'm apologize for the long message.
We've built the set of portlets (>10) using provider.xml and URLPortlet. With this we have succeed to load fixed name files from the application server. Those portlets are shown on PageA, PageB and so. All those pages are called from separate menu portlet (not sure is it navigation bar or menu portlet, not big deal anyway).
Provider.xml defines corresponding set of portlets as follows: PortletA calls FileA.html, PortletB calls FileB.html, etc. Like this:

Those portlets are called as pages as follows: http://simba/pls/portal30/url/page/PageA, http://simba/pls/portal30/url/page/PageB and so on.
All this works fine so far.
The FileA.html calls a set of html files and/or jpg-images located in same directory as the parent file. Child files are named like FileA_123456.html, FileA_126523.html, FileA_129834.html referring to FileA.html, FileB_120934.html referring to FileB.html and so on. Those files are converted to url link as follows: http://simba/pls/portal30/url/page/PageA/FileA_123456.html, http://simba/pls/portal30/url/page/PageA/FileA_126523,html and so on.
The last one doesn't work. The URLPortlet doesn't accept wildcards at all. So, while applicating the url http://simba/pls/portal30/url/page/PageA/FileA_123456.html the result is as same as applicating the plain http://simba/pls/portal30/url/page/PageA.
I think the URLPortlet doesn't accept parameter passing and wild cards in provider.xml at all. Is this correct? As far I know, the source code of URLPortlet is not public (jar archives includes only class files).
Is it possible to implment this by modification of default_mit.xsl or provider.xml? Or do we have to write the whole application from scratch?
We can't embedd html-files in to database in this phase. We can't either combine all FileA files to one flat file, like FileA.
Names like FileA, FileB etc. are fixed but the names of child files, like FileA_126523.html are not fixed (number varies).

Problem still living...
Source code is available in the same package. We have to make this modification by ourselves.
Provider.xml doesn't accept wildcards but we are going to use .../pls/portal30/schema.package.procedure?param_name=param_value URL to call modified urlportlet procedure.

Need help with dynamic html

I am a Microsoft J++ developer, but am switching to Sun technologies. The first application that I need to work on is an application that does a great deal of dynamic HTML. I originally wrote this application under J++ but I need to convert it to Sun Java. The methodology J++ used for dynamic HTML (extending DhDocument) appears to be duplicated (somewhat) with Swing. I need a little push start here, I seem to have a mental block. My application must run in the client browser, so I believe an applet is the way to go, but I can't figure out how to manipulate HTML from an applet through Swing. Can someone point me to a simple Applet that, say for example, changes the value of a text box that is predefined in the HTML, I would greatly appreciate it. That should get me past this mental block so I can go on with the conversion. I have successfully added textboxes with Swing through my Applet, but I need to manipulate HTML elements that already exist. That's where I'm stuck.

Here's the code I come up with. It doesn't work. I get a javascript exception on getWindow. I have never used the JSObject before. Can you give me any advice on what I am doing wrong?

Help with Dynamic HTML

I find myself generating dynamic html within servlets like this:

This is trememdous strain on my wrist and brain.
Is there any other way to generate dynamic html easier than writing it by hand inside the servlet?

Yes there's a much better way. Just try it with JSP Java Server Pages. It's similar to php or asp, but with jsp you can also use java code in it.

Better way to take Comet requests and respond with dynamic HTML?

Hello folks,
When my servlet writes back inline plaintext/XML in response to Comet requests, it only takes 10-20ms.
When I have it use RequestDispatcher to return a processed JSP page, it never takes less than a full second.
(I am on localhost with Tomcat 6.20 using the connector org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11NioProtocol)
Now I am a servlets newb, but I thought JSP's are essentially servlets. So there should be a way to run my Comet servlet and then have it call my JSP in serial and only double the processing time.
Is there a faster way than RequestDispatcher to process a JSP page and send it to the client from my servlet?

If you understand HTML and CSS well enough to just write it in Notepad, you are light years beyond most beginners here. Understanding the code is usually the steepest curve of all. Think of DW as a really advanced Notepad with color-coded editing and a visual preview of the code. With that I would recommend doing your coding in Dreamweaver and use Fireworks/Photoshop to optimize your graphics for the web and export those pieces, but not code (HTML or CSS).
If you feel the curve is too steep at first and your job needs to be finished, stick with what you know.

It is possible to create HTML page with dynamic content. One way would be creating hidden field (e.g. P1_HTML on page 1) with dynamic HTML and on button click you redirect to page 2 and pass P1_HTML item value to item P2_HTML on page 2. On page you must have PL/SQL region. You can then render your dynamic HTML with code:
htp.p(:P2_HTML);

Has anyone got dynamic version support to work with the HTML converter?

I have tried this for some time and followed all the guidelines, but it still don't work. Could someone post the HTML-code for a working applet that is converted with dynamic version support ?

Can't create dynamic html elements with jsp????? important

I am having problem creating dynamic html elements with jsp tags, i have tried to use EL and java scriplet, both of them don't work.
i am trying to create dynamic menu in my "rightMenu.jspf", based on, if user has logged in or not.
some like this!

some simple text menu here
</jsp:if>
but it is not working. it simply loading all and images with in statement, regardless of whether user has logged in or not. i think some how if statement is not working properly.
"validUser" is a session bean, which is not creating at this point, it will created when user will log in successfully. and also this session bean does not exist at the page, where i am trying to check that .
Is there any way to create dynamic values in jsp. It is really important, is there any body who help me in this matter. i would be really grateful.

HTML Coding Issues with Dynamic Sites

I am trying to create a button using the sliding doors technique and I think I have the correct css, but the issue comes with the HTML.
Here is the CSS:

How to create dynamic DataTable with dynamic header/column in JSF?

I am having problem of programmatically create multiple DataTables which have different number of column? In my JSF page, I should implement a navigation table and a data table. The navigation table displays the links of all tables in the database so that the data table will load the data when the user click any link in navigation table. I suppose the Getter method is only called once when the JSF page is loaded for the first time. By calling this Getter, columns are dynamically added to the table. However in my particular case, the dynamic list is not known until the user choose to view a table. That means I can not call loadDynamicList() in the Getter method. Subsequently, I can not execute the for loop in method "populateDynamicDataTable()".
So, how can I implement a real dynamic datatable with dynamic columns, or in other words, a dynamic table that can load data from different data tables (different number of columns) in the database at run-time?

ABAP WebDynpro app calling Transaction iview with Dynamic Parameters..?

Good day!
I need to code a call to a transaction (with dynamic parameters) from an Abap WD application. It appears that to achieve this, the app needs to call a new portal transaction iview, passing the parameters in the call..?
This should ideally be via a Sapgui for Windows, but Html also an option (does it matter with regards to the method used?).
Kindly assist with advise/instructions, idealy with sample code extract to illustrate (new to Abap WD)...

InContext editing error: This region contains content with dynamic behavior added..

We just set up a web site with InContext editing following the procedures in Business Catalyst documentation to do that. But now when we go to the administration section of the site, and turn on InContext editing, it won't let us update the text. We receive an error message:
"This region contains content with dynamic behavior added..."
Does anyone know what causes this problem, and how to fix it?

InContext Editable (ICE) regions can only contains static areas like text and static assets, it cannot wrap around javascript – populated areas or dynamic content like slideshows. (most likely causing the error)
ICE can edit only static page content such as regular HTML content. It cannot edit any element that is dynamically updated for example a div (or another element) which is manipulated (created or its contents are modified) by JS– populated areas or dynamic content like slideshows. It cannot edit menus, content holders or content outputted by system modules or tags either.
By default, on a page that has no ICE editable regions defined the editor attempts to find any regions you might want to edit and if possible make them editable. If it does not find the correct regions you want to edit you will need to explicitly define some editable regions.

Display Dynamic HTML beside Flash Chart in Chart Region

I have a vertical 3D flash chart with some categories I,II,IV... on x-axix. I have to show a legend beside the chart dynamically depending on the categories displayed like (I - PC, II - TV, IV-Laptop....) First I tried to do this with static data. I modified, Region Source of Chart region to include the legend. I am successful to create a table & put some static html code. Now I want this to be dynamic.
I found that with shotcuts I can put dynamic HTML code. I created shortcut with PL/SQL & successfully displayed them in a 'HTML REGION WITH SHORTCUTS', but I want that in Chart Region, not as a separate region. Shortcut is not working in Chart region.
How can I achieve this? Is there a way to call a process or substitution string or some thing from Chart Region to display my legend dynamically beside the chart.

Can you please give any hint how this can be achieved? If I keep the dynamic legend as HTML with Shortcut region, the width & height are not matching with the chart region as it is dynamic. Also, I am unable to combine both 'chart' & 'html with shortcut' region to look like one region. So I am looking for options to insert the dynamic html in to chart region.

In the above code snippet I have added ${portalCommonComponents.contentIdForDetailPage} which will return the Content ID dynamically. The reason why I have used this approcach is that as per the requirment there are lot of detail pages.
Everything is working fine but sometimes it's throwing exception for load cache.
Please suggest is there something wrong with this approach, if so suggest me some alternative solution using single Content Presenter Taskflow to display in multiple pages by assigning content ID dynamically.

Dynamic Text Feild with Dynamic Scroll Bar

I have a Dynamic Text Feild with a dynamic Scroll bar.
It loads a simple ASCI text file with some html formating.
but I still can not manage to get the text to format.
The biggest problem with the format is a big space between
paragraphs.
I am not sure why but I think the Frame must need a var to
render to html.
Can anybody help please?

My text had the following, similar but no parsing string.
I guess
yourstring.split("\n\r").join("\r").split("\r\n").join("\r");
takes out the carrage returns or <br>?
I notice the one I had just say's String.
I assume that would be the text that is the string?
