USB Film Playback on 40BV701

I have a Toshiba 40BV701 LCD TV, I put films on a USB Pen drive, sometimes the TV will play the film, sometimes it sees the film but can't play it, sometimes plays the film but with no sound, I can't seem to get any details about what specific formats the TV will play back correctly, anyone?

  • Toshiba L4353 39" - USB Movie Playback Problem

    Hi,
I recently bought a Toshiba L4353 39" smart tv, the usb playback does work but i keep having this really annoying problem,
basically i'm watching a movie file and everything is fine and then for no reason the playback of the file stops and i'm back at the my content screen, this has happened on multiple films and have tried a few different HDD so i can only assume it's the TV, help?
    Thanks, Martin

Did you test the movie playback using an USB flash memory stick or just USB HDD?
Does this issue appear playing movies supporting different file format?
In the [user manual page 89|http://www.toshiba-om.net/LCD/PDF/English/L4353-323950-English.pdf] you can find information about the file compatibility
Please check if the movie files are encoded properly and use the supported video and audio codec

  • Can't get Behringer Xenyx302 USB mixer playback; record works [SOLVED]

I just installed Arch Linux and can't get my USB audio mixer to work. When using it on Windows, it acts as an external sound card, and works great! But for some reason, when I tell KDE Control Module to change the sound card to PCM2902 Audio Codec, and click OK, it just switches back to Juniper HDMI Audio. I can't get it to stay. If I click Apply, and switch Sound Device to Recording instead of Playback, the meter registers sound from my microphone! (Which is plugged into the mixer.) So the mixer is at least half-working... but it's the less important half. Any ideas?
I have PulseAudio and pulseaudio-alsa installed. I'm not sure if KMix/KDE is using PulseAudio, though, or if it's using ALSA. Not sure how to find that out.

To be specific, here's the alsa-base.conf I created
EDIT: This is incorrect, don't use this

    options snd_usb_audio index=0

EDIT: Oh, and after restart, that alsa-base.conf doesn't seem to have fixed anything. Let me try tweaking it to be more like your example... Okay, looks like the only difference is sda_hda_intel has two values for index. Made it 2,3 but I don't think that'll change anything for this.
    EDIT2: Nope, nothing

  • Frustrating - freezing film playback problems

Ok, first of all I should say that I was one of the many I saw on these forums who was having big problems with the 10.6.8 OS with my Mac, the too numerous to count problems of freezing/crashing/hanging being one of the reasons I recently downgraded to 10.5.8 (archive and Install). So far, it seems to have been running a lot better, but I will be working back up to the 10.6 (maybe not 10.6.8 though) maybe starting today. I may return to the forums to add my voice to the 10.6 problems very soon i predict...
However, one problem (which was also there with 10.6.8 and became another reason to downgrade) is that all my downloaded films/series were suffering from incredibly frustrating freezing problems (most of them are avi. files) - I can't complete a full episode or film of anything. The film will reach a point, and freeze - for many minutes or so long, sometimes I have waited 20+ mins, that I simply exit the application. Initially, I thought this was maybe a VLC problem, but this also happens with films I burned to DVD many months ago (and which I have enjoyed countless times without any problems with playback before). The film will reach a certain point (often the same point) and freeze and not continue. Skipping forwards/backwards does nothing as does moving the slider around. The same happens in Quicktime (maybe even worse). Sometimes the critical freeze is preceded by moments of stuttering playback, but these more often than not go back to normal after a few seconds, a minute or so (still annoying though). The only option I have left is to exit the player. Same thing all the time. I had never experienced this problem before on the Mac (well, before 10.6.8 that is) and now all of a sudden both my burned DVDs and my downloaded film/series are suffering these problems, I'm close to tearing my hair out.
It can't be corrupt files because, as I said, burned DVDs that were working fine and I played without problems so many times before, are suffering this problem too, although they tend not to freeze and never recover, they do freeze for many seconds and sometimes a couple of minutes. When I thought it was a VLC problem, I went through all the options there (deleting the preference files, resetting the cache, getting the latest version, uninstalling and redownloading) and no joy. I have reset the PRAM (two chimes on startup is it?) ran verify disk, repair disk, verify permissions, repair permissions - I downloaded Onyx and did all this again and again till I was going insane. When I thought it was maybe a lack of disk space, I bought an external hard drive and now have 77GB free on my Macintosh HD and still this happens. I had thought that archiving and installing 10.5 would mean that this problem, like the many other problems I was having with 10.6.8, would correct themselves, but this is now a major frustration for me. When I can't enjoy films I have downloaded or films burned to DVD, when I have so many many times in the past, it makes me mad. This is a basic feature of any computer - Mac or PC surely?
What on earth is going on, can anyone help me please? I feel like I'm going mad here.

I am no tech-head as well, so please help!

    HI MGD:
    Welcome to discussions!
What type of media did you use? Verbatim DVD-R 4x or less seems to work very well.
Len Goff (iDVD Guru)often suggests this:
Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the DVD. File/Save As Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. If you hold your mouse cursor over the pop-up it says: "Select a slower speed to work around burn failures," so select 4x or slower for best results. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • N95 8gig films playback problems

After downloading a film and transferring it through nokia video manager, everything is working well but when the process is finished and I watch the movie back on my phone, after about 30 minutes of playback the picture frezzes or screen goes grey but audio continues, this is with every film i transfer.......
    Can anyone help?????????? NOKIA??

This is a known bug in the nokia video manager. No one knows when it will be fixed.
You won't get help from nokia here as this is a user to user support forum. If you want a comment from nokia about the issue use the "contact us" link above.
If you google around you can find plenty of free video conversion software such as "super" by "erightsoft".

  • IMOVIE exported film playback problems

Once exported the mp4 movie plays but freezes after approx 10s! is something corrupt? once freezes the rest of the 15min movie wont play even if fast forwarded past the freeze point! HELP PLEASE THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE BY TOMORROW MORNING!! AHHH

50g is about right for ProRez. I'll bet you're using the HQ version but you probably don't ned it. If you transcoded all ofyour footage to ProRez on input, changing it to HQ for the export gains you nothing. Try it again at one of the lower quality ProRez codec options.
It was exporting to my external hard drive via Firewire, and playing back from
the same drive. It's obvious now that due to the size of the file my Macbook Pro was struggling to cope.< </div>
That is an incorrect presumption. It's not the file size that is choking your MBP, it's the bitrate of the codec and the overhead required to move it from the drive to your screen.

  • Delay on audio playback with FiiO e10 USB DAC

    Hello,
My USB DAC playback is not working correctly. When I start the playback of any music stream, it takes a while (around a second or less) before I actually hear anything. The problem also occurs if short silent periods are present in the audio file/stream. The only way I can listen these problematic files/streams without the skipping is by keeping the master channel active all the time by playing some other audio along with problematic stream.
I have had this problem on openSUSE 12.3 too, and I was not able to solve it there either.
On Windows 7, however, this very same problem occurs only if I choose to use any of the 24 bit audio depth settings for the DAC.
Here is a screenshot to demonstrate the Windows scenario:
    http://s10.postimg.org/xzwx302jd/fiio_delay.png
I have been trying out various things things without success, such as:
    From Arch's PulseAudio wiki:
    - Glitches, skips or crackling
    - Setting the default fragment number and buffer size in PulseAudio
    - Laggy sound
    - Realtime scheduling
Here is some general information about my current Arch system and sound settings:
    OS: Arch Linux x86_64

    WM: KWin
    DE: KDE
    Processor Type: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz
    Sound settings: ALSA + PulseAudio
This problem did exist even before I installed Pulseaudio.

Yes. It did exist even before I installed pulseaudio.
emeres wrote:Check different resolutions, sample rates and channels. Try to determine the lowest buffer and period size, that the DAC accepts.
If by this you mean this, I went through that guide and it did not make any difference.
I found out that sometimes some audio formats, such as wav or mp3 do not produce this flaw. I gathered stats about this here. VLC was used for playback and displaying the information. Amarok behaves similarly.
emeres wrote: You probably load snd-usb-audio module with no options. Try loading it with "nrpacks" using different settings (default is 8, try 1, 2).
I am not sure if this is the way to do it, but I followed this guide and added file: "usbsound.conf" to "/etc/modprobe.d/". usbsound.conf has line: "options snd_usb_audio nrpacks=2". I tried changing the nrpacks to various values and booted after every change, but it did not make difference to the audio skipping.
What could it be that .xm (and every other tracker music format) and .ogg files are not playing like mp3 or wav?
Sorry for delayed reply and about that image

  • Iphone 4s usb audio crackling and popping

hi my iphone 4s crackles and pops when listening to music using usb audio playback in my car
my ipod is fine just the phone that does it
anyone know of a fix ??

The system in your car is probably not designed for use with an iPhone. The radios in the iPhone can put out quite a bit of interference. If the system is not designed for it, this can result in very poor audio quality. Try putting the phone in airplane mode and see if the problem persists. If it goes away, then it's a compatibility issue with your head unit.

  • HP Slatebook 14 Android USB Audio

    Hi,
Can someone tell me if my USB-DAC HRT Musicstreamer II+ would work with Hp Slatebook 14 Adnroid laptop 4.3 jelly bean? Both has type-A usb plugs and I can provide power to DAC from another source if this laptop can't provide it.

    Thank you for your answers.

    Hey @HKI15 ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand you're looking for information on compatibility with a USB sound card.
It has proved difficult to find detailed specifications for the device to really give you a direct answer. According to the information page it only lists Windows, Mac, and Linux using the Audio Class 1 drivers that are pre-installed in their operating systems.
This doesn't really mean that it won't work, but it might not work. For any USB device to work on the Android operating system it requires 2 things: The host device needs OTG support (which the Slatebooks do) and the software needs to support the hardware. This means you may not be able to use the USB audio playback option natively on the system, but should be able to find some apps on the Play Store that can do it.
My best answer I can give you is: Try it and see what happens!
    Thanks.

  • JVC Everio HM330 HD Camcorder - Editing Software?

    Hi guys!
Just got a nice new JVC camcorder that will be just fine for what I need (filming basketball games and practices) BUT the good old software included is only for PCs (discriminatory or what!). What I was wanting to know from the wise people on this forum is whether I will be able to edit the footage that I download via iMovie 2010, or whether I will need some additional 3rd party software? If that is the case, any suggestions?
Lastly, why won't JVC (or other manufacturers for that matter) do us a favour and include the software that makes life easier for us???
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
I work for JVC and would like to help. You have several good questions.
Basically, with Apple, we figure you already have outstanding editing software on your computer, so there is no need to provide basic editing software on our part. What we do need to do is make sure your JVC will work with the software that comes with your computer--iMovie--and we do that. Simply connect the camcorder via USB, select "Playback on PC" from your camcorder's USB menu, and launch iMovie. From there it is very easy to select the video clips you wish to import.
I should note that contrary to some other posts on this thread, if you have a GZ-HM330, you do not have a camcorder that records MPEG2 video with a .mod file extension--you have a high definition model that records AVCHD video with a .mts file extension. Not that it matters that much. iMovie '08, '09 & '11 will handle either format with equal ease. The only thing to be careful about is that with AVCHD (.mts), your Apple computer needs to have an Intel processor. Pretty much any Apple in the last 3 years qualifies.
    I hope this is helpful.

  • After upgrade to 4.1 connection to radio doesn't work

My car radio has a usb connection to my Iphone 4 and it allows for charging and audio to play through the USB cable. After my upgrade to iOS 4.1, the audio no longer works properly. It will play sound for 5 to 10 seconds and then it will stop for about 1-3 seconds and then start playing again. It continues this cycle non stop.
It worked perfectly before my upgrade to 4.1....Well actually 4.0.1 didn't work. 4.0.2 worked perfectly...and now 4.1 doesn't work.
Any advise as to how to fix it?
If it matters...this is my radio.

Another with the same problem, AVH 3100-DVD Pioneer headunit, just updated to 4.1 and am getting frequent random audio dropout when playing audio.
Have confirmed it is only with USB audio playback, happens on car stereo stated and with Magnasonic alarm clock w/ dock adapter.
Checked w/ Pioneer the firmware I have on my headunit is up to date based on SN#. And have done a full DFU restore, fresh ripped tracks from CD in AAC and still occuring.

is AV output only for DVD player ? , i need support for USB video playback on external monitor and tv tuner on aux in to be played on external monitor..
It seems to me that dvd player is only for internal & external monitor..

    Hi frrros,
    Welcome to the Sony Community!
Please try to reset your unit back to default. Kindly check this manual on page 15 on how to reset your AV center.
Note: Pressing the reset button will erase the clock setting and some stored contents.
Important: Please check here for the compatible Bluetooth devices for this unit.

  • VH to iMovie to iDVD?

    Hello,
I will put this as simply as I can..
1: I have is a recording from satellite which I put onto DVD.
2: I have then opened/added the disk within VisualHub and and chose the DV option.
3: Then I opened it within iMovie to edit it and then the finished project is then shared to iDVD.
4: Within iDVD I then create the add a theme etc and then choose burn to disc which actually works fine.
5: Playback on the dvd player is fine but the picture is very grainey and looks like a VHS type of recording. Is the big loss of quality to do with extracting via VH and passing it from iMovie to iDVD?
6: The original was recorded from some of my sky+ recordings and is pin sharp.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers
Oh one other question is how would I transfer the video from iDVD to USB for playback on my DVD?

+can I still download iMovie 06 and is the 09 part of iDVD ok to import the finished movie?+
You can no longer download iMovie6 from Apple, but you might be able to get it elsewhere, buying iLife 6 on ebay or something. You can try here: http://www.macrumors.com/2009/01/27/imovie-hd-6-no-longer-available-for-download /
Yes, iDVD versions 8/9 (the same thing, different numbers) works great with iMovie 6.
If you do extract the footage, you have to expect a quality loss. If you don't have iM6, you can still do it for iM9, You might try it this way, recommended by AppleMan, who is pretty knowledgeable about iMovie 9:
+I have found I get the best results when I use MPEG Streamclip (which is free). You also have to install the Apple QuickTime MPEG2 Playback Component which costs about $20. Once you install the QuickTime MPEG2 Playback Component, you don't have to interact with it, but MPEG Streamclip needs it.+
+Insert your DVD in your drive. If DVD player runs automatically, shut it down. You should see your DVD as an icon on the desktop. Open it is a finder winder. You should see a folder which has VOB files.+
+Open MPEG Streamclip and drag these VOB files into Streamclip. If it offers to fix timecode breaks, say yes. You can do the VOB files one by one if you want to deal with shorter clips. Or, you can drag all the VOB files at once and create one long clip, or use streamclip to separate them into smaller clips.+
+In Streamclip, select File/Export using Quicktime and choose Apple Intermediate Codec. You may want to check "Deinterlace" in this step. Try deinterlacing and see if you like it. It depends on your final target media as to whether this will help.+
+Now you should have MOV files in Apple Intermediate Codec which can be imported into iMovie.+
+If you want, you can create a folder under iMovie Events and export these clips from MPEG Streamclip directly to that folder. The next time you open iMovie, it will generate thumbnails.+
Hope this helps. I don't know how to get iDVD projects to play in a DVD player via USB connection. You probably should post that as a new topic. Do a search first, as I think someone else has asked that same question. Simpler solution? Burn a disk and play that.

  • Encoding to Blu-ray is destroying my black levels - what am I doing wrong?

I need to burn a short to Blu-ray for a screening coming up, but every time Premiere/Encoder/Encore finishes the disc, the black levels look nothing like what I saw in my project timeline OR in Encore's preview window. The blacks are soft, grey, with way too much detail in them. Research has led me to believe that my issue has something to do with the color values of my project going from 0-255, but that Adobe Media Encoder will automatically shift that to 16-235. Or something. I don't know, all of this is new to me in the last 12 hours.
I did miss around with the Levels effect in Premiere just to test this hypothesis, and when I bumped the black output levels from 0 to 16 in the timeline, it did replicate the difference that I was seeing in finished blu's.
I've scoured all the settings in Premiere and Encore for a way to control the black levels going into/coming out of Encoder, but cannot find anything. Someone please tell me what stupid thing I overlooked so I can make this movie look right.
For reference, my source video is:
    DSLR .mov footage, 1920x1080, 23.976
And I'm exporting to Blu-ray using the following settings:
MPEG 2 (also tried H.264, same result)
    NTSC
CBR (movie's only 22 minutes), but I've also tried VBR 2pass at 40mbps max, 35mbs target, and 25mbps minimum.
    Profile: 5.0
Max render quality, maximum bit depth, max everything.
    Running Premiere Pro Cs5.5

You are correct. Depending on a host of technical factors (none of which are visible or controllable in the GUI) the raw footage that is sent from Premiere to AME for encode can be in the range 0-255 (PC) or 16-235 (TV). Rendering at Max Render Quality should have it come in as 16-235 always.
If you encode for TV the encoder will scale the range down - making it less contrasty - ie what you're seeing) or simply clamp the values so that anything below 16 is clamped to 16 and above 235 is clamped to 235.
You said that you have your TV connected to the PC via HDMI. Can you put the reference monitor on that display and confirm that the blacks are the same as the video seen inside PPro? If so your TV is configured correctly.
Next use the 3 way color corrector (NOT "Levels" or "Brightness and Contrast" - they are clamped to the 16-235 range!!!!) to blow the image out from 16-235 to full range (check in the vectorscope or YCrCb waveform to confirm it's full range - ie WAY past the 100% squares in the vectorscope).
Check on the TV and it should not show the greater gammut. If it does it means that your TV is doing full-range.
this is all a bit late for your showing but I hope it can help.
    Anyhow off that tangent...
I would recommend you export a h.264 clip to a usb stick if your standard home-use blu-ray player has usb stick playback.
Put that stick in your blu-ray player or Samsung TV if it can do it too, and see if it'll play back with the right blacks.

  • ITunes Backup Time Capsule

I just recently bought a Time Capsule and have been able to backup all my files, photos and music. The majority of my music is on an external hard drive that appears to have been transferred but I still have to keep my external HD plugged in the USB to playback my music. Can someone help me and tell what I am doing wrong? The main reason for buying the TC is to get rid of my external HD. I am not the most savy computer guy so I apologize for asking what may seem to be a silly questions. Thanks!

It depends on what your goal is for the TC and your external harddrive.
You are correct in thinking the TC will replace the external drive for backup purposes however the TC is not designed to be a replacement for temporary storage.
That being said I use the TC for a few unintended purposes. I do store files for network transfer from one machine to another and it works perfectly. I also run two iTunes libraries solely off of the TC which is not entirely recommended. There are a few issues. You can stream music wirelessly fine with two computers streaming at the same time and even one streaming video while another streams music. I have however run into issues when someone is streaming music and another person is writing files to their iTunes library. Even to the extent of it killing my wireless signal all together and having to unplug the TC to return to a working state.
If you could clarify your goal in using the time capsule then I might be able to help you a little more based on my experiences. Also of note is that you can connect your USB drive to the time capsule instead of your computer so you don't have to continually reconnect it all the time.
