Use an incoming video feed as camera source for Adaobe Connect

We are looking for a way to use an incoming video signal -
say, from a Skype video chat - as the "camera source" for an Adobe
Connect webcast. So instead of using the attached webcam, the host
of our meeting would be able to broadcast the Skype video stream.
We need to be able to do this in real time, to ensure we stayin
sync with a separate audio channel (being delivered outside of
Adobe Connect).
Anyone have any idea how to do this? Thanks in advance for
any help you can provide.

Another option for external video is a USB video capture
device. These have been around for some time, and let you connect
composite or S-Video sources to your PC. Works great with Connect
Pro. The box in front of me right now is an Airlink 101 model. I
use Firewire (IEEE1394) input from a professional camcorder for
most of my sessions, in order to get the best quality video (that
then gets squashed by the compressor ).

  • Live video feed from camera and other PC

    My Mac Pro is being shipped as we speak. I'm new to this, and not up with all the lingo so please bear with me. I'm hoping you all can help me figure out what I'm trying to accomplish:
    I currently VJ (Video Jockey) with certain software on a PC and send that video mix out (DVI or VGA) to a Plasma TV. I just bought a Canon A1 camera and a Mac Pro w/FCP studio. How can I mix the live video feed of the Canon with the video feed from PC (preferably in HD)?
    I also want to be able to record and edit the footage from the Canon later.
    I was told by the guys at the Apple store that I could do this using FCP multicam. Is that true? I read a couple posts on here that say FCP is just editing software and can't do live feed. Then what is the purpose of multicam? Please help. Thanks-
    mac pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Two 2.66GHz Dual-Core

    The Apple people probably didn't understand that you wanted a live mix. FCP can't help you there.
    MultiCam is an FCP feature "post-switching" multicamera recordings for that live-to-tape look. It is fairly complex, and especially with only two "cameras" you would be muchn better to start off editing them on the timeline.
    As for a live switch you need a video switcher. Outside the realm of FCP, but http://bhphoptovideo.com is a great place to do research.
    Then if you're really serious you can record both feeds plus optionally the live switched output for further manipulation in FCP or elsewhere.

  • Using Oracle BI Server as a Data Source for Third Party Tools

    I have been researching how to use the Oracle BI Server as a data source for two days now. I have not yet found a solution to my problem.
    We have a remote user who is pulling data from one of our Oracle databases using automated tools. This data base is essentially being replaced by Oracle Analytics. However, we do not want this user to get at the physical tables of Analytics, rather, we want the user to be able to connect to the Oracle BI Server itself, and issue Logical SQL to pull data.
    Here are the requirements which I need to be fulfilled:
    1) The ability for a remote user to connect to the BI Server as a data source.
    2) The remote user must be able to do this on a Unix box.
    3) The remote user must be able to automate the process of issuing SQL to the BI Server. (Command line interface is preferable)
    4) The solution needs to be easily implementable, that is, this solution will be implemented many times over.
    I found many articles explaining how to set up a Windows box to connect to the BI Server in this way. However, these articles outline how to use tools like Excel and Microsoft Query to pull data from the BI Server. Our current user is using SQLplus.
    If possible, I would like the user to continue using SQLplus as the tool for connecting to and retriving information from our BI Server. I have tested using SQLplus many different ways to no avail. I have also tried using other tools, such as Oracle SQL Developer.
    Is there a program out there that will fulfill the needs I have outlined above? Or, does someone know of a way to use SQLplus to connect to the Oracle BI Server as a data source? Or, is there a series of solutions which will fulfill the needs outlined above?

    I agree it would be inefficient but only because you are using OBIEE for something it was not designed to do. You are basically asking for a "DB feed" and that should designed using PL/SQL, DB Links, Web Services or whatever is your entreprise standard to send data from one system to another. Using OBIEE for this seems a bad architecture decision to me.You are correct, the BI Server is not really intended to be queried like another Oracle Database remotely. However, the reason we are trying to do it this way is twofold:
    1) We want to enforce data level security.
    2) The BI Server has been fine tuned for high performance.
    Forcing the end users to go through the BI Server rather than directly to the physical tables or other sorts of systems built on top solves both of these issues.
    I think you are wrong. I don't see why SQLPlus should be able to query the BI Server. The BI Server can sit on top of many different DBs not just Oracle, even flat files etc. So you can't really expect the BI Server to able to translate all that into Oracle SQL output so you can query it using SQLPlus. The BI Server is not an Oracle RDBMS.You're right again. The BI Server isn't an Oracle RDBMS, and I have been wanting to treat it like one. From the data I have gathered SQLPlus can't query the BI Server.
    However, my research has led me to realize that the BI Server supports the JDBC API. Therefore, (I should have went down this route in the first place) one can use the JDBC driver provided by Oracle (bijdbc14.jar) to interface with the BI Server. There are many programs and applications out there that support the JDBC API and let us connect to BI Server the way we want to. Furthermore, these programs are mostly platform independent, as they are mostly written in Java.
    Lastly, from what I understand the NQCMD program can be installed on any platform as well (provided by Oracle). This is another option to connect to the BI Server as well.
    Thanks for your help and your comments as I went through this process of discovery.

  • Using an SAS2008 Cube as a data source for BI Publisher errors

    Hi All,
    I am trying to use a SAS 2008 cube as a data source for a report in BI Publisher. When I defined the data source under the admin section I gave it the following details:
    Data Source=ntsasqa01;Provider=msolap.3;Initial Catalog=WWPR_SMG
    With a username / password that has access to the cube.
    When I try and test the connection the OC4J instance stops running and the test does not finish or error. If I use the data source and then setup a report and then try and view data I get an error like the one below:
    /app/oracle/OracleBI/xmlp/XMLP/Admin/DataSource/msmdacc.dll (     0509-022 Cannot load module /app/oracle/OracleBI/xmlp/XMLP/Admin/DataSource/msmdacc.dll.
         0509-103 The module has an invalid magic number.)
    I am not sure if the error is related to the initial issue of not being able to complete the test.
    I need to find a solution though as I have to make use of MDX to access the cubes.
    Please could someone give me some advice.
    Thanks,
    Kim.

    Hi Kim
    1. SAS cubes are not currently supported - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10415_01/doc/bi.1013/e10417.pdf. Unless SAS cubes can use the MS drivers?
    2. If you try and pursue it you might check the permissions on the ddll in the error to ensure you have rights over it.
    Either way you are not supported with a SAS cube so you are kinda on your own. Sorry I dont use SAS so Im not going to be much help other than stating the obvious :0)

  • How do I use my iTunes on my desktop as source for NuVo Whole House Source?

    I have a new NuVo Grand Concerto whole house audio system and want to use my desktop iTunes as another "source" input. My NuVo "source" inputs accept RCA plugs and my house is smart wired. How do I bridge from my sound card, through the cat5, to the RCA plugs.
    NuVo does have an iPod dock, but I don't use an iPod. Accessing my library from my desktop seems so much easier than loading to an iPod and then sending it to the NuVo.
    Thx

    Well I am trying to avoid buying something that expensive, refurbished or not. And I don't want the iPhone to be the remote. I guess based on the solution you suggested, I want my iPhone to act like the Airport Express but only for audio transmitting, no video or photos or anything. I thought maybe there was even a Bluetooth method that could solve this, but I am finding that pairing my iPhone 4S with my MBP is not possible. Unless the problem has been solved?
    Any other solutions?

  • How to use two RFC models in one Data Source for a Interactive Form UI Elem

    Hi
    I want to use two RFC models (two Function Modules from a SAP Backend system) in one context node of a View Controller in order to pass it as the data source to a Interactive Form UI element. Can I use the data binding mechanism directly or have I to copy the data into a Value Node within the view controller.
    Thanks for helping
    René Morel
    SAP (Schweiz) AG

    Rene,
    You can create a local context node in component controller and copy the data from both the RFC's to this node, then bind it to the view controller. Then you can make this view context node as the datasource of the interactive form.

  • Using Bulk Scenario to Capture Data from Source for First time

    Hi,
    I need to setup ODI for a table between two Database. Genereally, I follow practice of importing oracle  dump of table into target database for the first time before delta capture preocess starts. However, this time there is space constraint at source system & we can not create the oracle dump as it will result into 120-130 GB.
    Is it possible to import these one time data into target Database via ODI Bulk Schenario. Does ODI have any timeouts set at the database connetion as this will take long running session to copy across such a huge data. Will it cause any time outs at Database.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks.

    Hi All,
    Thanks a lot for your responses. Moving ahead and trying out different things, i figured out that the EPMA/Planning had to be on the same machine as the ERPI. After installing EPMA/Planning on the same machine, the ERPI target application registration page started displaying all the applications created using the EPMA and i also successfully registered my target planning application with ERPI. But you know life is not that fair, right after the resolution of this problem, another problem appeared :(. While registering the target planning application, EPMA was by default selected as the Metadata Load method and i selected FDM as the data load method.
    After registering the application, i happily started adding the metadata rule as instructed in the knowledge document 951369.1 (Thanks user735469 for the reference), but when i clicked on the Add Dimension button, the next page gave an error stating There are no more dimensions remaining to be mapped under this application. and the dimensions drop down under the target application area was empty.
    According to this link http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/readme/fdm_11113_readme.html , this error can be fixed by clicking on the refresh button but i couldnt find a refresh button on the entire page. I tried refreshing the browser but to vain. I also downloaded and applied latest ERPI patch but still no positive results.
    Any idea why is this happening ?
    Desperately waiting for your help. :(

  • How  do I use an external FW drive as a source for Migration?

    I'm about to turn on my new iMac (intel)for the first time. Before I do, I would like guidance and advice on the best way to proceed to migrate (transfer) two specific users, internet settings, e-mail settings from a FW drive that had been established and bootable as Tiger on a powermac ( see my profile below). The situation is that the powermac is dead due to motherboard failure. Its drive was rescued and made into a FW external drive. Should this FW drive be connected before I start up the the iMac? And assuming the drive is recognized, should I use Migration assistant to transfer such key items such as only two of four users that were made on that drive, internet settings, and e-mail settings? Any other crucial items I should either "migrate" or copy from that external drive? I am not planning to try to migrate third party applications. I believe I can transfer data files using the usual move or copy methods. I am concerned about preference and other files that impact user settings that may require permission repairs. Finally, assuming all users will be migrated by the migration assistant, how do I remove one of them, once on Leopard?
    So, any all advice based on experience is greatly appreciated.

    poppijade,
    1) As I have given it, the rsync command would move the entire contents of the "Users" folder. You mention you have two users to migrate; the HOME folders associated with both would be moved. However, the command can be written to move just a singe HOME folder, if desired.
    The "chown" command does not rename anything. It is the change ownership command. Yes, it must be run after either a manual copy or use of rsync, at least in the case of your current move.
    2) The only reference for "rsync" is the set of "manual pages" that accompany rsync. You can view these using the "man" application at the command line. Type:
    <pre style="overflow:auto; font-family: 'Monaco'; font-size: 10px">man rsync</pre>
    then press <RETURN>. To view the next page, press the spacebar. To scroll line-by-line, use the arrow keys (you can go up or down). When you have read enough, press "q" to exit the man application.
    The manual pages for rsync are very comprehensive; some of the best I have seen. rsync, however, is a very powerful and potentially complex utility, so those pages are consequently daunting.
    Since this is your first time migrating users from one machine to another, I am going to recommend that you just use the Finder, in the "root" account, to move the accounts. Keep It Simple. That said, I am willing to help you use rsync, if you like. I would prefer to gather the necessary information from you, then I'll provide the exact command you need to run. I would post it here in a form that you will simply copy and paste into your Terminal window. In this case, though, I still want you to read those manual pages for rsync, so you'll at least understand in general what you're doing, what's going on when you run the command I provide.
    3) Your short name is how OS X (more specifically the underlying UNIX foundation) "thinks" of you. In point of fact, OS X (again, UNIX) references you by the "UID" number that is assigned to you, and then "maps" that number to your short name. For example, when the Setup Assistant is run (when an OS X machine is booted for the very first time), the first user that is created is assigned a UID of "501." Subsequent users that are created are assigned UIDs sequentially; "502," 503," etc. This happens automatically, and the short names that are chosen during the creation of those accounts is mapped to those numbers.
    When a user creates a file, or files are created for that user, those files are "tagged" with the user's UID. This is how OS X knows that a particular file is "owned" by that user, exclusively. This touches on why the "chown" command is required for any files that are migrated to a new machine by either copying in the "root" account or by using rsync. When using the Finder in the root account, the transferred files will be owned by root, and thus the ownership must be changed to intended user.
    rsync, on the other hand, transfers files with the old UID in place. Since the mappings between users' short names and their UIDs are machine-specific ("501" on machine A might be mapped to "fred," while the same UID on machine B is mapped to "george"), the chown command is required to insure that everybody ends up owning the right files.
    The quickest way to determine your short name is to look at your HOME folder. It is automatically named using your short name. You can also just open Terminal. The default prompt will include your short name. In order to determine the short names used on your old machine, just look in the "Users" folder from that machine. The HOME folders there will be named accordingly.
    4) When you use either of the methods I have suggested, either copying manually in the root account or using rsync, the result is as if you had not changed machines at all. Everything specific to your users will be in place on the new machine. Preferences will be in place for every application that you use, and they will not be over-written. Simply reinstall the application itself, and you will be right back where you left off. In some cases, one or more users might see the "question mark" icon in the Dock or Finder Sidebar for an application that has not yet been reinstalled, but those question marks will correct themselves when the app is installed. This is one reason why I recommend that you reinstall your third-party apps before the migration (in any case, these "broken" links are no big deal).
    Incidentally, the Microsoft Office suite is not necessarily outside the scope of this forum. Put simply, everything I have stated above still holds true for any files associated with MS Office. The Office suite must be reinstalled, but the files and data associated with the entire suite will already be in place.

  • Using an XML file as a data source for XI in NW CE 7.1 DS

    I am trying to set up a simple demonstration of XI capabilities by grabbing an XML file from one location and putting the data into WEI in and ISA 95 format.  I have set up my XML file (and schema) as an XML Data Source under ODA Data Sources.  However, I cannot seem to find how to access the data in my JEE application.  I was going to build a JPA file, but cannot seem to map the field data.
    I want to create a component in either WebDynPro or CAF perspectives that will utilize the XML file as input. I cannot find any examples either in SAP Support or by Google.  Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    TB

    OK - I got this working but in order to do this I followed some info from another post and changed the structure of the XML.
    Previously, it was structured as:
    <params>
    <param>
    <name>Test1</name>
    <value>Some Value</value>
    </param>
    <param>
    <name>Test2</name>
    <value>Some Value2</value>
    </param>
    </params>
    Now I have changed it to:
    <params>
    <param name="Test1" value="Some Value" />
    <param name="Test2" value="Some Value2" />
    </params>
    I also added the dod=true value into the JDCB url.
    Now, one of these circumstances fixed my issue (of which I am very glad) but I don't know which one :-) .... and I currently don't have the time to find out.
    I may investigate this further in the future (and post accordingly).
    Thanks,
    G

  • Using s SQL server as a data source for Project Siena (An AX SQL database more specificaly)?

    I cant seem to find this information on the internet yet so I figured I would ask my question here.
    I would like to pull data from a Dynamics AX sql database to use in a project siena app. I have heard that this is something that is planned for a future release of Siena but is there any way this can be done currently?
    Thank you

    Hi Philip,
    It's not supported in the current version. The following thread from Vijay outlines some of the features targeted for the next release:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/405aed19-21b8-4a36-bf45-b1d962567c3b/some-functionality-in-the-next-siena-refresh?forum=projectsiena. As you can see, it will include read/write over web services. So, if your data is exposed using services,
    you should be able to meet your requirements.
    Thanks

  • Outgoing video frequently freezes; incoming video ...

    Hello all,
    I am running Skype 7.3.32.101 on a PC laptop (64-bit, running Windows 7, HP Folio 9470m) with a hardwired Ethernet connection (per speedtest.net:  595.00 mbps download; 472.58 mbps upload). Although the incoming audio/video and outgoing audio feeds are quite reliable, we consistently have issues with the outgoing video freezing. Moreover, we generally experience this performance degradation when connected with a colleague who runs Skype on a Mac (and is often connected via wi-fi); this user has the same experience -- that is, her outgoing video and audio feeds, as well as incoming audio from us, are fine; only the incoming video feed freezes. Thoughts about what might be causing this issue? Relatedly, is the outgoing video feed that we can see in the bottom left corner of the interface pulled directly from our camera (a Logitech ConferenceCam CC3000e), or is it a reflection of what the other user is actually seeing (and, as a result, could be impacted by quality issues/wi-fi connection on their end). Hope this makes some sense.
    Thanks.

    Same problem here.  I posted a new support thread for it.  If I get an answer, I'll post it a link to it here.

  • Browser Crash when Selecting Camera Source

    I'm on a Mac with a Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor running OS
    10.5.5
    I've experienced this issue with Firefox 3.0.3, Safari 3.1.2,
    and Camino 1.6.4
    I've experienced this issue with websites: Adobe Connect Pro,
    Yahoo! Live, and UStream.tv
    Whenever I'm attempting to "allow" a website to access my
    camera and microphone in the Adobe Flash Player Settings, my
    browser crashes.
    I can adjust the settings within this Adobe pop-up window
    (for example, I can switch between camera/mic sources), but
    whenever I click "allow", the browser crashes.
    I don't have a webcam. I'm attempting to use "DV Video" as my
    camera source. My source is actually not a camcorder at all--but a
    DV deck.
    I got this to run stably for several hours the other day. The
    next day, I started getting the crashes. Now I can't get it stable
    at all anymore on this Mac Pro.
    I tried the same equipment on someone else's Mac Pro (same
    system as described above). It worked fine and appeared stable.
    Any thoughts?

    We have the same problem.
