Can someone post a command line example of how to compile to
a css file to swf for runtime skinning in flex ?
Thanks,

  • Using image from defalttheme.jar in CSS file

    Hello All,
    In JSF page we can access an image from the defaulttheme.jar, something like :
    background-image: ContextPath/theme/com/sun/rave/web/ui/defaulttheme/images/table/table_titlebar_gradient.jpgI want to move this from JSF file to my CSS file. can anyone tell me how can i do this?

    norsez, did you had a look at the Java Tutorial:
    Using the APPLET Tag
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/applet/appletsonly/html.html
    It says: 'You specify JAR files using the ARCHIVE attribute of the <APPLET> tag. You can specify multiple archive files by separating them with commas [...]'. I assume all listed JAR files are in the classpath then and you should have access to their classes.
    Let us know if it works!

  • How to connect the  flex and css file on the server..

    when i work on my system, i just give source="abc.css" in style tag but when i upload its not working...can someone help me?

    A common practice is to place the CSS files under <src><assets><styles>  directory in your project.
    Then, in your MXML file  you  use them :<mx:Style source="/assets/styles/common.css"/>
    When ready to publish to online server, you do as "Export release build" from your project menu.
    This will generate all you need files in the "bin-release"  directory in your project environment.
    You should upload all this content ( from the bin-release directory)  to your server.

  • JSF: Using own custom styles in skin css file?

    I have created custom skin by defining custom css file and implementing predefined ADF style definitions (aliases).
    Also, I need some other styles for use on specific parts i application, and my idea was to put these styles in same css file which is used in skin definition.
    For example:
    .footer_txt     {font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 9px; color: #FFFFFF}
    My intention was to use this styles in styleClass attribute of various
    adf faces components
    But after starting application, I can't find my additional styles in generated css file (pfmskin-desktop-10_1_3_1_0-ie).
    Looks like that css generator is ignoring any styles which are not ADF predefined styles?
    I was thinking that this is possible, because at the end of srdemo.css file (in SRDemo application) there is one part like this
    /* custom styles that I made up and set on the styleClass attribute of various
    adf faces components */
    .adfFacesDemoSearchPanelGroup
    width:100%;
    padding:6px 6px 6px 26px;
    background-color: #0099CC;
    I can put my styles in separate css file, but then I have to include this file in every application page...
    Is it possible to have custom defined styles in skin css file, and use them in styleClass attribute?

    Hi,
    skinning only works with the ADF faces skin selectors. There are plans to support custom selectors in a future version

  • Can I use conditional build tags in CSS files?

    I am using RoboHelp X5.0.2 and building CHM files.
    I use conditional build tags to output different Help files
    for the different products we have that all have similarities.
    In the past I have setup the CSS file to show headers, links
    etc in the color scheme we use to keep the look and feel of our
    branding. One of the new products uses a different branding color
    scheme.
    I was wondering if there is a way I can use conditional build
    tags in the CSS file so that when I build one type of help it uses
    header in one color and when I build another help it uses a
    different header color. Does anyone know how to do this? If it is
    not possible in my current version, is it possible in the latest
    version of Robohelp?

    [WORKAROUND ALERT IN X502]
    For .chm output, you could:
    1. In the Topics pane, select all the topics (click on one
    topic and press Ctrl+A).
    2. Right click in the highlighted area and select Properties.
    3. In the Appearance tab, select the different style sheet.
    4. Click Save.
    5. Generate the .chm file.
    6. (optional) Repeat steps 1-4 to revert to previous style
    sheet setting.
    Good luck,
    Leon

  • How can I specify a different css file for mobile browsers?

    I'm experimenting with updating our website to be "mobile friendly". I could use some help.
    We use a lot of static HTML landing pages for things like links from email ads, etc. What I'm trying to do is have 1 landing page so the content/html page is always the same, but the page will detect what browser/device you are using and then load a different css file depending on what it is. But, we don't want to have to load the style info from the PC version if you're not on a PC.
    What I'm doing now is specifying the media type in the css link, like this..
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" type="text/css">
    <link rel="stylesheet" media="only screen and (max-device-width: 480px)" href="mobile.css" type="text/css">
    What's happening is it's loading the main stylesheet first, and then the 2nd one changes some styles if you're on a device with a max width of 480 pixels (like an iPhone). But since it's loading the PC styles first, it's making some things look screwy.
    So, is there a way to say "If you're on a PC, load this stylesheet. If you're on an iPhone, load this one instead." .. without javascript? I don't trust javascript too much on mobile devices. I feel like this some simple little thing that I'm missing that will make it all automagically work.
    We don't want to have different content depending on the browser, just different stylesheets. Can anyone help?

    Hi
    Would it be better to do 2 different stylesheets, or just one big one and add a section at the bottom like:
    @media only screen and (max-device-width: 480px) {   .styles {whatever: styles;} }
    2 separate style sheets are recommended. The reason for this is that the Safari mobile browser, (as used in iPhone etc) will download any/all images specified in a style sheet even if they are not used or specified in a media-query rule, this is a know bug with that browser.
    I'm also having a new issue where the style "clear: both;" doesn't seem
    to be working right. I set up my top horizontal menu using float: left,
    and there's a lot of links so on the smaller screen it wraps, which is
    fine but now the wrapped links are floating over the page content...
    This is one of the reasons that floats should not be used in style sheets for mobile devices, the only exception I know of is for small typographical feature such as 'pull-quotes', (and never use float: right;). It is also recommended to include a menu at the bottom of the page, (or at least a link back to the top).
    It works, if I have the iPhone as portrait it looks great, but if I turn
    it to landscape, everything is zoomed in. But if I switch back to
    portrait, everything is the right size. Is there any kind of way to get
    the landscape to have the normal zoom level? I know I can do
    "initial-scale=1.0", but that is just for when the page loads, not if
    you change it afterwards...
    I have heard of only one recommendation to fix this and that is a page refresh on resize, but due to bandwidth limits now being implemented by many providers it is probably not a good idea, you could try setting -
    maximum-scale = 1.0
    as well.

  • CSS file compiled into SWF...

    Hello,
    I have a problem with all my css files in my Flex project. I
    need them to be compiled into SWF because its the only way to load
    and switch them at runtime.
    I use a ClassReference to a custom programmatic skin in the
    css file:
    skin: ClassReference(
    "com.someawsomepackage.util.manager.SkinManager" );
    MY PROBLEM is that I HAVE TO place the various css file in
    the ROOT folder of my project so that the compiler can find and
    compile this classreference along with the css.
    I would like to place the css files into a style folder...
    But I will get a compile error if I do so.
    Anyone has an idea ? thx !

    did you try compiling them manually from the command line using mxmlc?

  • Fonts in Runtime CSS compiled as SWF do not render with setFormatOfRange() but works with setStyle()

    Im having a requirement to load fonts at runtime and display them in a  RichEditableText, The text in the RichEditableText could have multiple  formats so I use the RichEditableText's setFormatOfRange() method to set  the font.
    I use a CSS compiled as a SWF to load the fonts, Fonts render when the font is set via the -setStyle() method as demonstrated in the code below
    Im using Flash Builder 4 with SDK version 4 to compile the app(Using the default Spark Theme).
    Below is the CSS file (fontCSS.css)- You might need to copy fonts from the Widows Font folder for this in a fodler named fonts,
    /* CSS file fontCSS.css*/
    @namespace s "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark";
    @namespace mx "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx";
    @font-face{
        src: url("fonts/Articulate.TTF");
        fontFamily: "Articulate123";
        embedAsCFF: true;
    @font-face{
        src: url("fonts/AGENCYB.TTF");
        fontFamily: "Agency123";
        embedAsCFF: true;
    Right Click on the CSS file, in Flash Builder 4 and select "Compile CSS to SWF".
    Run the MXML application below and you should see the issue Im trying to describe.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"

    here is the AS3 project code for your reference

            public var agencyFont:Class;
    We ve been wrecking our heads off to figure out a solution for this. Ultimately decided to post a question here.
    Your feedback will be highly appreciated.
    Below are  snapshots of how the 2 fonts are rendered
    Regards.

    Hi Alex,
    I did read through your blog the other day, This must have been thepost you were referring to,
    http://blogs.adobe.com/aharui/2010/03/flex_and_embedded_fonts.html
    The post is explanatory, but how would we implement this successfully wth code?
    A working AS3 code example of your explanation would be more than helpful.

  • Trying to dynamically load CSS for project at compile time via config XML file to select CSS file.

    I'm using the same code base to compile different versions of a project. Each project has different base fonts. I've created multiple css files that use the same style names. The idea being that in the code I reference the style names, then the loaded CSS determines which font (and size, color, etc) is used for each style name.
    The CSS files are compiling to SWFs, and those SWFs are referenced in config.xml files. Before compiling, I select the config file to use.
    I am loading the CSS SWF files via the StyleManager in the Application.mxml, like so:
      styleManager.loadStyleDeclarations( _contentData.elements( 'cssPath' ).@path )
    The path traces out correctly as:
    assets_embed/styles/project2.swf
    For some reasone I must include an fx:Style line in the Application.mxml file or no fonts are recognized. Example:
      <fx:Style source="assets_embed/styles/project1.css"/>
    If I reference the css for project one (as done above) then most, but not all, styles work. Some styles reference the fonts from the project 1 css, others properly use fonts from project 2 swf. If I point to the CSS for the project I'm compiling in the <fx:Style > tag then all fonts work, but that defeats the goal of using XML rather than code to identify the styles.
    So, why do I need the fx:Style line if the css is being loaded via StyleManager?
    Why is there "cross talk" between style definitions?
    Is there a better way to select styles at compile time?

    I read this quickly so I might have missed a detail.  I think your describing an issue with recent Flex releases that is described in the fine print somewhere.  If you don't have any fonts embedded in the main app and are only bringing in fonts embedded in CSS SWFs, you have to force-link the EmbeddedFontRegistry by adding something like this to the main app's script block.
    import mx.core.EmbeddedFontRegistry; EmbeddedFontRegistry;
    (Yes, "EmbeddedFontRegistry" is in there twice, once to define the fully qualified name, the other to create a class dependency to force the linking).

    Hi, thank you for your replies, I found out few things about my servlet, and its portability
    and i have few questions, although i marked this topic as answered i guess its ok to post
    I am using javax.servlet.context.tempdir to store my files in that servletcontext temporary directory. But i dont know how to give hyperlink
    of the modified files to the user for them to download the modified files.
    What i am using to get the tempdir i will paste
    File baseurl = (File)this.getServletContext().getAttribute("javax.servlet.context.tempdir");
    System.out.println(baseurl);
    baseurl = new File(baseurl.getAbsolutePath()+File.separator+"temp"+File.separator+"files");
    baseurl.mkdirs();so i am storing my files in that temp/files folder and the servlet processes them and modifies them, then how to present them as
    links to the user for download ?
    and as the servlet is multithreaded by nature, if my servlet gets 2 different requests with same file names, i guess one of them will be overwritten
    And i want to create unique directory for each request made to the servlet , so file names dont clash.
    one another thing is that i want my servlet to be executed by my <form action> only, I dont want the user to simply type url and trigger the servlet
    Reply A.S.A.P. please..

  • Add jar files and use those classes at the runtime

    Hi All,
    I need to add some jar files at the runtime depends on which the user selects where the jar file is located and i need to import those classes in other class for some functionalities . I could add jar files by using the URLClassLoader and Class.forName("myjar.myclassname") is also succeeded and i have no clue how to use those classes with in the jar file as i couldn't import those classes also in the source because the jar files are being added at the runtime(This leads to class not found exception at the compile time).
    I had found a complicated way of using those classes after being added at the run time as below.
       Class clazz = Class.forName(myClass);
                final Method method = clazz.getDeclaredMethod(requiredMethod, new Class[]{URL.class});
                final Object returned = method.invoke(clazz.newInstance(), new Object[]{request}); but, its really pain to use in this way in all the places.
    Does any of you have simpler suggestions on how to achieve this?
    Thanks,
    Venky.

    Thanks jschell. Yes, you are right. I had found that using reflection API is the only way to load classes at the run time. But according to our application using reflection makes the application little complex, so while start of the application or during other modifications, i am overwriting my jar file to the latest one using FileChannel class as below
          FileChannel ic = new FileInputStream("new.jar").getChannel();
          FileChannel oc = new FileOutputStream("old.jar").getChannel();
          ic.transferTo(0, ic.size(), oc);
          ic.close();
          oc.close();After this code is executed, our application totally uses the new jar file.It is little fast than using reflection. Is this a good idea?

  • Flex 3 CSS won't compile, HELP!!!

    As you can see in this image, design view finds the assets
    just fine, but it has compile errors. ->
    Flex CSS
    Foolishness
    Any suggestions???

    Flex's css stuff seems to freak out occasionally. I find
    doing a clean build or a restart of the app helps. If not, then you
    probably have some bug in your CSS that isn't obvious that throws
    things off. Try removing each section of CSS until you see which
    section is causing the problem, then narrow it down.
    Also, keep in mind that assets are relative to their files
    and that can be problematic at times, especially when going from
    dev to production.
    I generally have my folders look like:
    src
    views
    assets
    bin-debug
    lib
    etc...
    I have my style.css in the assets folder along with my embeds
    and I still include everything as ../assets/ because they are
    relative to the src/App.mxml that they were included in as opposed
    to the location of the CSS file I believe.

  • [svn] 3037: Update flex-config. xml files used by the team and qa webapps to use the {targetPlayerMajorVersion} token instead of a hardcoded player version in the library-path and external-library-path .

    Revision: 3037
    Author: [email protected]
    Date: 2008-08-29 06:54:15 -0700 (Fri, 29 Aug 2008)
    Log Message:
    Update flex-config.xml files used by the team and qa webapps to use the {targetPlayerMajorVersion} token instead of a hardcoded player version in the library-path and external-library-path. This will allow the correct playerglobal.swc to be located when the target player version is set in the flex-config.xml or passed to mxmlc or compc.
    Modified Paths:
    blazeds/trunk/apps/team/WEB-INF/flex/flex-config.xml
    blazeds/trunk/qa/resources/config/flex-config.xml

    Unfortunately I don't have the
    "org.eclipse.swt.win32.win32.x86_3.1.2.jar" file. On my computer
    the folder is not set up the same way (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex
    Builder 2\plugins) instead it is set up as (C:\Program
    Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 2\metadata\plugins) but I've looked in
    everything and that file just isn't in there. I've re downloaded it
    twice. Still not there. Is there anything else i can do.
