Use javascript value in SQL report

Hello,
I'm trying to do a report that must use the windows username as a filter. Something like
select *
from audit
where username = WINDOWS_USERNAME.
I have this code that retrieves it from the system
<script language="Javascript">
var WshNetwork = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Network");
var userName;
function getUsername(){
userName = WshNetwork.UserName;
return userName;
Does anyone know how can I use it?
Another possibility is having a application item that is populated in the onLoad event. Help please!

I'm going to show you how I implemented my solution:
I have in the login page a html region with the following code:
<script language="Javascript">
var WshNetwork = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Network");
html_GetElement('P111_USERNAME').value = WshNetwork.UserName;
document.write('<b>'+html_GetElement('P111_USERNAME').value+'</b>
</script>When the user clicks the button I have a computation that sets a application item with the value of the P111_USERNAME hidden field.
In all the others pages I reference the application item and it has the correct value.
Your errors should be because you are declaring the ActiveX object outside the function. Or it's just a security limitation of your IE.

  • OBIEE10G - Using column value in another report

    Let's say i have a very simple report (A) with just one column A1 that has a value X.
    Then i have another report (B) where i want to use that value X from report A, something like this:
    Year------Month----------Value
    2011------March-----------X
    Is this something possible to do?I've tried to use in column Value a filter base on results of another request where i get report A and column A1 (which has value X) but this doesn't work.
    Thanks

    Hey,
    It really is pretty much what i said but i'll try to explain with more detail my problem. I have a combined request where i have to do (besides other things) some calculations envolving knowing how many days and business days are in the month selected in the prompt. I can do this ok for the total of days in a month however i haven't been able to do this for the business days.
    My time dimension has an attribute that tells me if a day is a business day or not, so i can do a request where i count the number of business days for month and year prompted. That's my report A with column A which has value X (number of business days for a month).
    However, when i try to integrate this exactly same thing in my combined request the count of business days isn't working that's why i was asking if i can get into a column of report B the value of a column in report A. I would have this:
    Report B
    Year----------Month-------------Nr Business Days
    2011----------March--------------------21 (value of column A1 in report A).
    I hope i was my clear this time.

  • Calling JavaScript from a SQL report?

    I am using the HTMLDB_ITEM api's to build my report. I am trying to render a text item and append an image / hyperlink to the end of my textbox which links to a custom popup page.
    I have all this working but I need to use a JavaScript call html_GetElement to pass into the URL I am building in the link.
    e.g.
    This query works fine and my popup page fires passing the value 'ABC' into the element P323_PIN on the popup page 323.
    <br><br>
    SELECT HTMLDB_ITEM.text (01, NULL, 10, 25)
    ||
    '<ah ref="javascript:html_PopUp(''f?p=&APP_ID.:323:&APP_SESSION.::::P323_PIN:ABCD'');
    ">Link</a>' pin
    FROM DUAL;
    <br><br>
    PS the hyperlink tag has been broken so it will display in the forum.
    <p>I would link to replace this with the value (if any) that the user types into the textbox (01).
    Any suggestions as I cannot seem to concatanate the right value into my url string. I think it is due to the quotes but I cant see the wood for the trees at the moment.

    If the at line selections is getting fired then just use this option to call the url,
    REPORT  zkb_test4.
    DATA: v_str(60) TYPE c.
    AT LINE-SELECTION.
      DATA: v_url TYPE string.
      v_url = v_str.

  • Using - Partition By in SQL report

    Our users are having problem with the below formula on Reports. I am not sure what this means. Our Users told that they need
    (Tons Used/spread miles) * 2000 lb/ton = lbs/spread mile for their report.
    And I see the below formula being used by our developer. Not sure how to read it though. Can any one let me know the formula used in the below code could actually represent the above formula. Users are complainting as below
    from user ->column doubles or triples the amount if there are multiple records for the same truck/driver/beat/with the same amount for Dry Mat used and Spread Miles. If spread miles or the Dry Mat used is different if calculates correctly.

    SUM (ROUND ((NVL (sim_trip.dry_mat_used, 0)) /
    nullif(sim_trip.spread_miles_total,0) * 2000, 2 ))
    OVER (PARTITION BY sim_trip.trip_no,   sim_trip.dry_mat_code,        sim_trip.liquid_mat_code,
    sim_trip.dry_mat_used,      sim_trip.liq_mat_used,         sim_trip.spread_miles_total
    Yes, the code is basically implementing that formula. There's some code that hadles NULLs and rounds the amounts.
    This is the analytic SUM function; the keyword OVER right after the argument indicates that. The difference (here) between the two forms is that the analytic SUM will work without a GROUP BY clause; you can show details about individual rows and the groupd total on the same output row, without doing a sub-query and a join. The analytic PARTITION BY clause correspdons to the aggregate GEOUP BY clause. Since you are saying:
    ...   OVER ( PARTITION BY  sim_trip.trip_no
                    ,                 sim_trip.dry_mat_code
              ,                sim_trip.liquid_mat_code
              ,             sim_trip.dry_mat_used
              ,              sim_trip.liq_mat_used
              ,                 sim_trip.spread_miles_total
                 )the ratio on any given row will only include rows with the same values of all 6 variables. It's very suspicious that two of those varibales (dry_mat_used and spread_miles_total) are also in the argument. That's legal, but it's very unusual.
    Also, this is a sum or ratios, no a ratio of sums. That is, suppose, in some group, there are 2 rows. One row has 100 tons and 4 miles, while the other row has 100 tons and 1 mile. The formula you posted would repoert that as
    (100 / 4) + ( 100 / 1) =
    (25) + (100) =
    125
    and not
    (100 + 100) / (4 + 1) =
    (200) / (5) =
    40
    As you can see, there's a big difference. I don't know which one you want.
    Whenever you have a problem, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) from all tables.
    Also post the results you want from that data, and an explanation of how you get those results from that data, with specific examples.
    Always say which version of Oracle you're using.

  • Using constant values in SQL Loader control file

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where I need to migrate the data of 6 tables from MS Access into Oracle data base. I have written SQL Loader scripts so that I can create CSV files based on MS Access data and then migrate into Oracle. But in Oracle tables we have 4 common columns like Create_By, Created_Date,Updated_By and Update_Date, and those fields should be taken care by system. So, basically system should update login user ID and sysdate values in respective columns. My question here is, I do not have above mentioned common columns in MS Access tables. So, can I hard code those values in control file by saying
    Created_By CONSTANT user,
    Create_Date CONSTANT TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'),
    Updated_By CONSTANT user,
    Updated_Date CONSTANT TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
    Please let me know your valuable suggestions.

    You do it without it constant

    OR use to avoid extra ',' in datafile.

  • Using passed values in SQL statements

    Using Adobe Livecycle Designer 7, we wish to populate a pdf document with values from a MS SQL database. The values will change depending on the ID of the record called for.
    We can already populate the form using SQL (SELECT firstname FROM names WHERE id = 1), but we need to populate it based on a 'passed' value in a url (http://www.mysite.com/mypdf.pdf?id=1).
    When we try to include this into the SQL (SELECT firstname FROM names WHERE id = request.id) we get an error. Could anyone provide us with the correct syntax that will allow us to populate the form based on the ID passed in a URL?
    Many Thanks

    Hi all of you,
    I do have a problem with coding correctly a form I am designing sing the Adobe Livecycle . In one of the field, there is an underlying field that when you exit the first name field or the Middle Initial field or the last name, it should all pass the respective values to the underlying field which becomes visible on printout. I do have this code I wrote on the exit event, but do not understand why it it not working. Please, can anyone tell me why it is not working or help me out on a better way of making it work.

  • Pl-sql report with parameter

    Hi
    I have created report with region source as pl-sql. In pl-sql block, calling package where i am passing query. In query's where clause i want to pass paramter value which user had selected.
    There are two regions on page. On upper part, there is select list, on lower part there is report with pl-sql region but value of select list is not found in query. I am trying to access with bind variable, select list of item :SL_TEXT. But it is not showing any value in it.
    How to use select list value in query of report? Or let me know how to use parameter in pl-sql report which is selected in other region?
    Thanks in advance

    I am attempting to define the variable as a date variable through Oracle BI and yes it does use a colon to signal variable substitution.
    So thank you the first way you stated should work.
    The only problem I'm running into now I believe steems from the date format that column that I am trying to filter on. It is in what appears to be the worst format possible.
    Is it common for dates to be stored in a DD-MON-YY format? (e.g. 01-JAN-08) I thought we as a community had moved past that post Y2K scare. lol.
    When I set up the bind variable in BI it allows me to define the date format, much similar to the TO_DATE function but then it says (must be java date format). So I'm thinking that maybe DD-MON-YY is not a java date format.
    In that case is there a way to cast or convert my date format in the sql so that it is a supported java date format?
    Or should I just give up and pass it as a varchar2?

    I would suggest you pay attention to the base directory where the relative paths for @src and @href make pertinent value pointing to the desired resource.

  • Convert SQL*Report Writer V1 to Reports V6

    Is there an Oracle utility to convert the old SQL*Report Writer REPs to Reports V6 RDFs? Also, will Reports V6 for Unix be able to use our REPs from SQL*Report Writer V1?
    We are moving to a new server and updating our Oracle software. As a test, we are attempting to rewrite / convert some of our reports from our Unix platform to a test NT server. Once we get to the new Unix server and Oracle, we will have to convert the old REPs to the new Reports for Unix.

    You can convert SQL*ReportWriter v1.1 reports to Oracle Reports 2.5/3.0 and then to Oracle Reports 6.0. I know there is a migration tool that comes with 2.5, though I'm not sure about 3.0.

  • Passing sql report query field value to hidden item in javascript

    I have sql report which has in each row one html button. Let us say that query SHOULD look like (two columns, to be easy to get the point):
    select 1 SECURITY_ID
      , '<input type="BUTTON" value="Top10" onClick="javascript:Top10Click ('||SECURITY_ID||');" >' BTN
    FROM DUAL;
    function Top10Click (vValue) {
      html_GetElement('P31_PROCESS_VALUE').value = vValue;
      doSubmit('GO_BACK');
    } <br><br>
    where P31_PROCESS_VALUE is hidden item where i want to store value of row where click happened.
    <br><br>
    In every button i want to pass row value "SECURITY_ID" to Top10Click function for each row differently.
    <br><br>
    Problem is that when I place double qoute then js is not working, else js is ok but "SECURITY_ID" is passed as constant not as live SQL value.
    <br><br>
    Any help...THX!
    <br>
    Demo is on oracle:
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=26216:1
    Workspace entry:
    WK: FUNKY
    UN: [email protected]
    PW: qwertz

    I have tried to unify the solution, so it looks like:
    select 1 SECURITY_ID
      , '<input type="BUTTON" value="Top10" onClick="javascript:Top10Click ('||'&quot_X;'||SECURITY_ID||'&quot_X;'||');"  >' BTN
    FROM DUAL;change '&quot_X;' (remove "_X" part ... so it can be seen in HTML properly!

  • Fetch table value in BEX Web report using Javascripts, and assign condition

    Hi Gurus,
    I am currently using WAD 3.5. I need to change the web report to behave like below :-
    1. Default layout (Field A B C) with condition A & B activated.
    2. If the drilldown Field B and C is removed, leaving only field B alone in the report drilldown, deactivate condition A & B, Activate condition C & D.
    3. the above can be reversed where user drilldown field B & C into the layout, the condition A & B need to then be activated back.
    So I believe this can be done using Javascript. So my questions are below
    1.) How do i fetch table value for the navigationblock ? with navigationblock i am able to know what are the columns are in the drilldown (i will not display free characteristics, so ignore this part). how do i read the content of NAVIGATIONBLOCK_1 as shown in following code? using javascript.
    <P><object>
             <param name="OWNER" value="SAP_BW"/>
             <param name="CMD" value="GET_ITEM"/>
             <param name="NAME" value="NAVIGATIONBLOCK_1"/>
             <param name="ITEM_CLASS" value="CL_RSR_WWW_ITEM_NAV_BLOCK"/>
             <param name="DATA_PROVIDER" value="DATAPROVIDER_1"/>
             <param name="SHOW_FREE_CHARACTERISTICS" value=""/>
             <param name="SHOW_NAVIGATION_ICONS" value=""/>
             <param name="SHOW_FILTER_ICONS" value=""/>
             ITEM:            NAVIGATIONBLOCK_1
    </object></P>
    2.) After question 1.) is done, please advice how do i activate/deactivate the conditions? based on the fields found in above. Maybe I can use IF navigationblock_1 contain field A only, then set condition A & B , etc.
    <p><object>
             <param name="OWNER" value="SAP_BW"/>
             <param name="CMD" value="GET_ITEM"/>
             <param name="NAME" value="CONDITIONLIST_1"/>
             <param name="ITEM_CLASS" value="CL_RSR_WWW_ITEM_CONDITION"/>
             <param name="DATA_PROVIDER" value="DATAPROVIDER_1"/>
             ITEM:            CONDITIONLIST_1
    </object>
    I would appreciate if we can solve Question 1 first before proceed to 2.)
    Please advise. Thanks

    Hi JTi,
    what i have understood from your requirement is that you want to access the web item table_1 in javascript, you can get that as below:
    Add
    <span>
    tag before your web item and set its id to table.
    <span id = "table">
    <param name="OWNER" value="SAP_BW"/>
    <param name="CMD" value="GET_ITEM"/>
    <param name="NAME" value="TABLE_1"/>
    <param name="ITEM_CLASS" value="CL_RSR_WWW_ITEM_GRID"/>
    <param name="DATA_PROVIDER" value="DATAPROVIDER_1"/>
    <param name="GENERATE_CAPTION" value=""/>
    <param name="CAPTION" value="jezel"/>
    <param name="ONLY_HIERARCHY_NAVIGATION" value="X"/>
    <param name="BLOCK_SIZE" value="0"/>
    <param name="SHOW_PAGING_AREA_BOTTOM" value=""/>
    ITEM: TABLE_1
    </span>
    In javascript access it as :
    var mytable = document.getElementsById("table");
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

    But when I want to pass another value, all goes bonkers and instead of the value of the field being passed the literal text is passed.
    can someone look at my code below and see what may be wrong

    Hi Frank,
    You should close this parameters with single quotation. Try this -
    Select '&lt;a href="javascript:popUp2('''
    || 'f?p=&APP_ID.:950:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.::'
    || 'P950_TYPE,P950_CODE:'

    || descr
    || '&lt;/a&gt;' "Note"
    Hope this helps.

  • Need help with Javascript to get value of standard report column

    Hello All,
    Apex version 3.1
    I have a SQL Query (Updateable report) region where I need to do some validations using an OnDemand Applicaiton Process and javascript. For this validation I need to use the serial number and the item id from the same report row. The function is called when the serial number is changed. I can get the serial number easily because it is a Text field, however the item id is a standard report column (making it a text field or hidden gives me a checksum error, long story). How do I get the value for the standard report column in order to set the value for an Application item to be used in my Application Process along with the serial number? Here is my code below.
    <script>
    function f_ValidateSerial(pThis)
      // The row in the table
      var vRow = pThis.id.substr(pThis.id.indexOf('_')+1);
        //alert('Row is '+vRow);
      // Display the serial number
        //alert('The Serial Number is '+html_GetElement('f21_'+vRow).value);
    var get = new htmldb_Get(null,&APP_ID.,'APPLICATION_PROCESS=ValidateSerial',0);
    get.add('F101_SERIAL_NUMBER',html_GetElement('f21_'+vRow).value);
    get.add('F101_INVENTORY_ITEM_ID',+html_GetElement(?????+vRow).value);   // Here's where I need to get the item id to set application item!!
    gReturn = get.get();
    if (gReturn)
          alert(gReturn);
      if(gReturn)
          html_GetElement('f21_'+vRow).value = '';
    </script>

    Hi,
    Ok, No standard report column do not have name attribute-
    You can add one extra column to report that is your Item Id with different alias.
    Then change that column Display as to "Hidden".
    Now you have hidden input where is your Item Id. Than input have name and id.
    Regards,
    JariBut this puts me back to my initial problem. When making the column hidden I get the checksum error...
    Error in mru internal routine: ORA-20001: Error in MRU: row= 0, ORA-20001: ORA-20001: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process...
    The item id is NOT in the table which I am updating (I use a subquery to get the data) so I think it has to be a standard report column. Hidden and Text Item (which have an item id) all generate the checksum error.
    So I think I'm back to my original question. Given a standard report column on a row in a sql query (updateable report) region how do I get the value using Javascript?
