Use of before, secondary , after method in step type activity of workflow.

Hello,
Can anyone tell me any practical scenario where they encountered the use of these methods and how they implemented it?
Thanks
Minal

add a before method to display something to a user decision.
What is your requirement.

  • Step type 'condition' in workflow

    hai all.....
    I have got a problem while working with the step type 'condition' in workflow,i.e i want to check the values in internal table in my step type for example,whether the internal table is initial....please someone help me ..its very urgent...

    Hi Kiran,
    For the Operator 'NX' u need not enter any comparison value. U click on the condition in the condition step type . A window appears and u click on the internal table in expression 1 and the operator as 'NX' . It doesnt need a comparison value.
    Now u check this with the test data in the same window . U will have an icon in the bottom of window to enter test data and another icon to evalutate it . U check it with data and without data. It will work .
    In ur reply to Kasi , Ur answer is not at all related with what kasi asked for .U can check the initial property while the data is in workflow container itself . Instead u r passing the data from workflow container to task container and then to method container and then the processing has to take place in BO and again the reverse should take place .Which is Unnecessary .

  • Before(), after() method's precision in Date object?

    Hi all,
    I have two date objects and I am using the before and after methods for a decision process. I would like to know the precision of the above methods. Is the precision at the seconds, milliseconds, or nanoseconds level?

    What does this have to do with JDBC?
    java.util.Date uses milliseconds.
    java.sql.Data uses nanoseconds (which isn't going to matter unless something actually sets those.)

  • Is there a limit to step types? "Insert step" doesn't show all step types.

    Hello,
    I am observing a weird behavior with TestStand 2.0. As soon as the number of step types that i created goes beyond 60, I can't see some of the steps in the "Insert Step" pop up dialog. It doesn't show the arrows at the top and bottom, as usually, and only shows 53 options to pick, even though there should be 61 items. If remove the step type I created last, I get all of the step types available to be selected. On the other hand, if I open the same files in version 4.1, all of the types are shown. Is there something I can do with version 2.0 to get over this issue?
    Thanks,
    Sam.

    Sam,
    I tried replicating this issue in TestStand 2.1 and saw a similar problem, though not exact.  I had enough step types to make two columns in the Insert Step pop-up dialog, but some of the steps before it broke into a new column did not show up.  I could still access those though using the arrow keys.  After using the mouse pointer to highlight a step type, you can use the arrow keys to navigate down into the part of the list that isn't shown on the screen and hit enter to insert the step.  If you know exactly where your step should be in the list, you can select it and insert it, but other than that, there's no other way around it.  As you noted, this was a bug in TestStand 2.0/2.1 and it was resolved in a later version, so this is no longer a problem with current versions of TestStand.

  • Problem in Form step-type

    Hi Experts,
    I am new to workflow and exploring various step-types of it. I am using FORM step-type in my workflow.
    The container element is of the type EKKO and action type is CHANGE.
    When i execute the WF by giving a PO number and make any changes in the output and click on save and exit, the changes that are made are not getting reflected in the EKKO table.
    Do i need a separate code for updating the table?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Balu

    Thanks for the suggestion Arghadip.
    I was going thru a blog on WF step-types, in which it was mentioned that after pressing SAVE AND EXIT button , the data gets saved in the required table from which the container element is created. Hence i thought that additional code is not necessary.
    Could u plz tel wher exactly the code needs to be written.
    Regards
    Balu

  • Conflict between local and global step types

    I'm making some changfes in some previous programmed Step Types and I'm having conflicts. Is it posible to make global Step Types? I have some sequences that have another step type with the same name as the global and it appears the Type Conflict Dialog box. I'd like to use in all my sequences always global Step Types. Can I do this with TestStand 2.0.1?

    Hi again,
    For both Step Types A and B, I've inserted an "Edit SubStep" (inside Tab Substeps in the Step Type Properties). Those associated programs are written in LV. That means that when I insert one of my steps types in a sequence, if I click the right bottom, I have the possibility to make changes in this Edit VI and save those parameters in TestStand. I attach you the two Step Types that have the conflict, maybe you can see the problem. Have a nice weekend!

  • Retrieving teststand step type from labview

    Hi
    I am looking for help/advice about being able to read the type of step that has just been executed from labview. I am current using "Runstate.Step.StepType" and saving the result to a local variable that is being read from labview. The issue I have is the function does not return meaningful data. The function always returns "StepType, IID = {39B81800-2FE4-11D3-AFAC-006097B79EF5}" regardless of the type of step.
    Does anyone know of another command that will return the type of step i.e. Numeric, multi Numeric, string or Boolean.
    Many Thanks
    Dave

    See if this helps: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/2738
    It uses TypeOf() function and then stores the step type in local varaible.

    Hi Kasi,
    I can provide u a simple workaround for this...
    U can create another table within the workflow container of the same table type.
    name it as empty_<table>.
    Than within the condition step, u can simply compare the original table with the dummy empty_<table>.
    This should solve your issue

  • Changing Runtime View Object Settings Before and After Using Them

    Hi,
    I'm doing some VO coding at the moment and reading around the subject to get an idea of best practices.
    I stumbled across 2 blogs that are slightly contradictory:
    https://blogs.oracle.com/vijaymohan/entry/applyviewcriteria_design_timerun_time_view_criteria
    http://radio-weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2007/05/23/avoidActivationErrorsByChangingRuntimeViewObjectSettingsBeforeUsingThemNotAfter.html
    What is the best practice when programmatically using VOs? Should I do cleanup before/after when using them.
    Thanks
    Kevin

    John,
    I read it in an unofficial blog somewhere yesterday and I cannot locate it now!
    I'm reading some official documentation on this today:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/b31974/bcstatemgmt.htm#autoId37
    The example steps given in 40.8.2 seems to contradict the latter paragraph:
    Because many of the view object's instance settings are saved in the passivation state snapshot and restored on activation (as described in Section 40.5.1, "State Information Saved During Passivation"), it is not advisable to change any of these settings just after executing the view object+ if you won't be re-executing the view object again during the same block of code (and so, during the same HTTP request). Instead, change the view object instance settings the next time you need them to be different before executing the query.
    Steps 5 and 6 seems to be changing the settings after executing the view object.+
    Bottom line is I'm looking for best practice.
    Should I do this in a VOImpl method:
    //save original VO settings
    String originalWhereClause = this.getWhereClause();
    String originalOptimizerHint = this.getQueryOptimizerHint();
    String originalOrderByClause = this.getOrderByClause();
    String[] originalViewCriterias = this.getApplyViewCriteriaNames();
    //change VO where settings and execute query
    //restore original VO settings
    this.setWhereClause(originalWhereClause);
    this.setApplyViewCriteriaNames(originalViewCriterias);
    this.setQueryOptimizerHint(originalOptimizerHint);
    this.setOrderByClause(originalOrderByClause);
    Or is that all unnecessary?

  • Use After method in formatted date.

    Hello everyone, does anyone know how to use .after method in date without time included?
    My problem here is that when i use the .after method on dates it includes time, the result is that it is always true.
    import java.util.Date;
    public class CompareDateAfter{
      public static void main(String[] args) {
           Date firstDate = new Date();
           Date secondDate = new Date();
           secondDate = appointmentCheck.getAppointmentDate();
    DateFormat dateFormat = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd");
    dateFormat.format(firstDate);
    dateFormat.format(secondDate);
    if(firstDate.after(secondDate))
    System.out.println("Second Date is initialized before First Date");
    else
    System.out.println("Second Date is initialized after First Date");
    Example:
    Thu Jul 23 00:27:22 CST 2009 (i got this by declaring a new date) is always after Thu Jul 23 00:00:00 CST 2009 (i got this from the database with the original value of 2009-07-23).
    Thanks in advance, hope you can help me.

So you want to know what to do about it? What I would do is to set the hours, minutes, seconds, and milliseconds of your "new date" to zero. A Calendar object is the most convenient way to do that.

  • Hi, Just switched from CS6 to PS CC. I am used to using ACR in CS6 with it's preview checkbox in the upper  right-hand corner. I do not see that checkbox in PS CC. I see that they have added side-by-side, right and left and top and bottom before and after

    Hi,
    Just switched from CS6 to PS CC. I am very comfortable using ACR in previous versions. I liked to use the preview checkbox located in the upper right-hand corner to see before and afters. That checkbox is no longer in my version of PS CC. I see that they have side-by-side, top and bottom and right and left before and after options in the lower right-hand corner in this version. Is there anyway to get that legacy preview checkbox back so that I can use it?

  • How to use Time Machine before and after installing a new hard drive

    So basically I'm buying a new hard drive for my Macbook pro and I have a lot of files on my computer that I would like to save. I have never used Time Machine before so I need help on how to set it up before AND after installing the harddrive so my files get transferred onto the new hard drive. Thanks in advance

    wjosten wrote:
    Me, I would never use Time Machine to do this. What I'd suggest you do is get an exterior enclosure for your new drive. Then use either Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper to clone your existing drive to your new drive. Once done, verify your clone is bootable & all of your data present. Then swap drives & use your old drive for Time Machine backups(after erasing it). Then get another drive & exterior enclosure to regularly clone your new drive to.
    Unless he was swapping for a lower capacity HDD or to a lower capacity SSD, then the old drive would make a lousy Time Machine disk.  However, whenever I swap out a disk I do exactly what you do.  CCC to get the ol drive onto a new one.  Test by starting up to the new (but still external drive).  Then replace the internal drive.
    I usually just sell the old drive on eBay.  My Time Machine backup is always 2X the size of the internal drive, which I believe is a bit above recommendations, but works for me.  The price of large external drives is almost the same as smaller internal ones.

  • Can we call a method before and after Export operations in ADF 11g

    Hi,
    My problem is I have to execute a method before and after the export operation.Is this posible in ADF 11g
    Regards,
    Felix

    Hi,
    in response to a similatr post of yours, I replied
    1. Drop af:exportCollectionActionListener on a command button
    2. set the command button to display = false
    3. In your Java code, call
    ActionEvent ae = new ActionEvent(button);
    ae.queue();
    Everything you put before
    ActionEvent ae = new ActionEvent(button);
    ae.queue();
    will fires as a pre-trigger, everything after as a post trigger
