Use of global currencies in configuration

Our site would only like to see their information in the local currency. We have no need for multiple global currencies. We configured the ETL with nulls in the three global currency fields, but notice that all the out of the box dashboards are going against the balance_global1_amt field. Is it standard to have the base currency also defined as the first global currency or is there a parameter that controls which field is choosen (local, global 1-3)?
Any help would be appreciated.
Lyla

Yes, the default is GLOBAL1..you set this up in the DAC as needed and this is what is used by default in the OOTB RPD. So if you need your Local only..you can set GLOBAL to be the same as local. OOTB you cannot dynamically change the currencies (at least as of the current 7.9.6.x version)..you would need to customize the RPD to get this functionality. Hope that helps.

  • Configuring Global Currencies in BI Apps 7.9.6 for EBS 11.5.10 Source

    Hi All,
After reviewing the Configuring Common Areas and Dimensions section of the Oracle BI Applications document [Oracle Business Intelligence Applications Configuration Guide for Informatica PowerCenter Users Version 7.9.6 E14216-01|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14223_01/bia.796/e14216.pdf] I have a question regarding section +3.1.2 How to Configure Global Currencies+.
    Background
OLTP Source: Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10
    OBI Apps: Financial Analytics 7.9.6
We have 49 enabled Currencies and multiple Sets of Books (SOBs) each with a different Functional Currency and I am concerned with the limitations of the Global Currencies configuration within OBI Apps. From the documentation it states that:
Global currencies. Oracle BI Applications provides three global currencies, which are the common currencies used by the Oracle Business Analytics Warehouse. I'm keen to know if the 3 standard Global Currencies can be extended by adding further custom parameters in the Source System Parameters e.g. $$GLOBAL4_CURR_CODE, $$GLOBAL5_CURR_CODE, etc. and corresponding Exchange Rate parameters $$GLOBAL4_RATE_TYPE, etc.
From the documentation definition of Document, Local and Global currencies, the following configuration for the Global currencies does not make much sense:
    $$GLOBAL1_CURR_CODE (for the document currency).
    $$GLOBAL2_CURR_CODE (for the local currency).
$$GLOBAL3_CURR_CODE (for the global currency).Presumably these should be the 3 standard Global Currency definitions. If so, I want to confirm that the Document and Local currencies get picked up automatically depending on your EBS configuration?
Thanks for your time, all input greatly appreciated... and points duly awarded :-)
    Have a great day.
    Kind Regards,
    Gary.

    Hi,
The 3 Global currency codes are different from functional , local currency.
All the transactions are brought into the warehouse and there is no limitation to the number of currencies that can be brought in but for reporting purpose you want to convert all these transactions in multiple currencies to a single currency ...lets say US$ and at a monthly rate or GBP at a spot rate etc..
So in a nutshell the document and local currenclies do come in and there is no configuration needed but translation to a global reporting currency and the rates at which its converted is determined by what you provide in DAC.. the conversion is done by mplt_currency_conversion which is present in each and every fact mapping.

  • Q: changing Global Currency 1 in OBIA 11.1.1.7.1

We started configuring BI Apps 11.1.1.7.1 and are not able to change the Global Currency 1 (and 2-5) from USD to EUR (or anything else). Same applies for Global Currency Exchange Rate Type 1-n.
In the Edit Parameter Value dialog, no values are displayed, and no edit is possible, although the icon does not indicate that this is a read-only parameter.
Any idea's what we are missing.
    Thanks,
    Luc

We finally got this to work, by adding an Externally Conformed Domains:
In the Functional Setup Data Configuration and Load Plan Administration
    select Manage Externally Conformed Domains
    Configure Domain for E-Business Suite:
        Currency
        Conformed Currency Rate Type
After this we could select EUR as global currency 1.
There may be other possibilities, let me know if you managed to use alternative solutions.
    Best regards,
    Luc

  • Hi-Asset Balances in Global Currency

    Hi All,
Can any one tell how to take the asset balances in the global currency or Group Cuurency?
    Regards,

    SAP-Practice.

    Hi Raghavendra,
To get the asset balances report in group currency or global currency.  You may need to configure "Specify the Use of Parallel Currencies" in IMG.  Path: IMG --> Financial Accounting --> Asset Accounting --> Valuation --> Currencies.
I think this is the SAP Standard methodology for getting the asset report in different currencies.

  • Non-global zone network configuration

    Hi,
Zones are a new thing for me so please excuse me if this is a basic query... I have recently jumpstarted a system using a jumpstart script that was developed by somebody else. It creates two non-global zones and configures their network interfaces.
I have unplumbed one of the virtual interfaces for a particular zone because the IP address it was using is actually being used by another system on the network. However, when I reboot the zone, the interface is re-assigned the same IP address again. The IP address in question is not in /etc/hosts on any of the zones, and in the non-global zones the "hostname.<interface>" files do not exist at all. Also, the IP address is not in sysidcfg in any of the zones.
So basically, interface e1000g0:2 is being assigned an IP address that was configured by the jumpstart script, so perhaps the jumpstart script has placed that IP address in some file that is read when the zone is booting. I have even checked rc scripts just in case but I cannot find the IP address anywhere. Would anybody please be able to tell me where the configuration information could be coming from in this scenario (nsswitch.conf specifies only files).
    Thank you in advance...

    its in the zone config.
    zonecfg -z <zone in question> info
it should list a net address and physical device. you can then use:
    zonecfg -z <zone in question>
from here you can remove the net statements, or change the address if you want to keep using the net card in your zone.

  • How to report with local and global currency in Deliveries?

    Dear all,
i am working on a delivery scenario where i have in the datasource NETWR(Net value
    ), WAERK (Document currency).
I would like to be able to report with local currency and global currency.
Could you please help by explaining how to proceed?
    Thank you.
    Cheers

    Hi Gilo,
You have to check with the business on the following.
    1) What would be the key date of currency conversion? Is this any document date from the transaction ( Delivery Date ) or report execution date?
    2) What would be the target currency ? ( for local and Global currency ). Whether this can be determined at the time of loading or should it be based on user selection criteria?
    3) What is the exchange rate type that has to be used? ( for example 'M' ).
Once you have the answers to these questions, you can decide whether to do the currency conversion in the backend or front end in the report during runtime.
For example, if the user wants to input the target currency on selection variable and wants to use the exchage rate as of the report execution date, then this currency onversion has to be done at runtime.

  • OBIA - Global Currency Code

I have a question regarding the following parameters for OBIA:
    $$GLOBAL1_CURR_CODE
    $$GLOBAL2_CURR_CODE
    $$GLOBAL3_CURR_CODE
In the Configuration guide, it specifically states the following:
    $$GLOBAL1_CURR_CODE is for Document Currency
    $$GLOBAL2_CURR_CODE is for Local Currency
    $$GLOBAL3_CURR_CODE is for Global Currency
    Question:
    1. My initial understanding was that the 3 parameters are just 3 options of defaulting the global currency on the report. So am I correct? Or each Global Curr Code parameter has a different purpose? And it is so, what is the purpose?
    2. With the prior paramters in mind, is each Global Exchange Rate Type parameter for each Global Current Code? i.e. $$GLOBAL1_CURR_CODE is for $$GLOBAL1_RATE_TYPE
    3. Could user create their own custom Global Exchange Rate Type? i.e. I see Corporate, User, EMU, and 2 custom types --> 1. Average 2. Monthly
    4. In the Oracle Analytics Warehouse, how are all this being reflected? I noticed that the fact tables store all three exchange rates. How will these exchange rate be reflected on the report? Or it is meant for custom reports and custom conversion between those three exchange rates?
    Thanks in advance,
    Alvin

Bump. Any insight would be help. Thank you in advance!

  • Use of Global Properties in URL path of XML Query

I am trying to use global properties to define the URL of XML query:
    Globals.ImageFilePath&"SomePath/\File.xml"
but it does not like it. If I put the content of the Globals.ImageFilePath it works fine. What is the synatax for that?
I am using the XML query in a transaction within an image creation action block. When I try to define the URL parameter of the XML file as a link, it is not taken on account, and the image created has no data (it is empty). The URL is taken when defined on the Cofigure Object screen, but there I have the same problem to use the global variable parameter.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Vlad

As I mentioned in my first posting, yes, I can put the global variable of the link editor for the URL parameter, it evaluates well, but it is not taken on account by the query, and the image generated is empty. Obviously there is a bug here, so I am trying to find a work around to use the global variable on the Configure Object screen, where the parameter URL is taken by the XML query, but on this screen I can not use the global variable. It works only if I put the content of the global variable.
So, does anybody know if we can use global variables on a Configure Object  screen, or on the XML query URL field, and if so, what is the syntax to indicate global variable?
    Thanks again,
    Vlad

  • Using functional global variables to transfer data between touch screen device and other targets

    Hi,
We are currently developing a control system that will operate on a cRIO with a touch screen interface. During development we have been using functional global variables (FGVs) to handle most of the settings/data etc, however we have just realised that we may have an issue updating the data on the touch screen, and vice versa.
Previously we have implemented similar programs using shared variables, however we were wondering if there is anyway to implement FGVs in a similar manner, whether it'd be a combination of FGVs and shared variables.

    Software version: Labview 8.2.1

See this thread on LAVA about sharing FGV's across projects. THis should be extendable to cross paltforms (I believe).
You also may want to concider an upgrade to LV 8.5.1. We have found a number of performance related issues with LV 8.2.1 and RT.
If you decide not to upgrade, just remeber what I wrote (above) when you have reason to question the performance.

With session.setAttribute("name",object) you can store a Attribute in the session object.

  • How to use a global variable for reading a query resultset in JDBC lookup?

    Hi Friends,
Using JDBC lookup, I am trying to read from a table Emp1 using a user defined function. In PI 7.0, this function returns values of a single column only even if you fire a " Select * " query. I am planning to use a global variable(array) that stores individual column values of the records returned by a "select *" query. Need pointers on as to how a global variable can be declared and used to acheive the above scenario. Kindly explain with an example. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Amit.

    Hi Amit,
Sounds like a good idea but then you would need an external db and update the table in a thread safe way !.

  • Cannot connect azure file using IIS global.asax

We have been using Azure File with IIS 7.5. We use, in global.asax, a script that mounts azure file to a specific drive allowing our aspx application working with smb files.
It happens sometimes, when VM restarts, that mount operation fails showing the following error
[Exception: WNetAddConnection2 failed with error 1312]
MountShare.Mount(String shareName, String driveLetterAndColon, String username, String password) in e:\Siti\Condomini\CReport\App_Code\MountShare.cs:53
    ASP.global_asax.Application_Start(Object sender, EventArgs e) in e:\Siti\Condomini\CReport\Global.asax:14
Global.asax contains these lines of code
        void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e)
            String AzureUrl = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["AzureUrl"];
            String AzureUser = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["AzureUser"];
            String AzurePassword = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["AzurePassword"];
            String AzureLocalLetterDrive = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["AzureLocalLetterDrive"];
            if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(AzureUrl) && !string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(AzureUser) && !string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(AzurePassword) && !string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(AzureLocalLetterDrive))
                MountShare.Mount(AzureUrl, AzureLocalLetterDrive, AzureUser, AzurePassword);
How can i fix these error that happens randomly after VM restarts ?
    Thanks
    Francesco

    Hi Francesco,
You can create a persistent connection to an Azure File share so that after a VM reboots, the share will be available for your scheduled tasks, applications, or logged in user.
You could refer the following link for details on how to persist connection on IaaS VMs and Windows PaaS roles.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/windowsazurestorage/archive/2014/05/27/persisting-connections-to-microsoft-azure-files.aspx
Also error 1312 means 'A specified logon session does not exist. It may already have been terminated.', You might consider the code available in the blog to persist connections.

  • How to use functional global with a large amount of variables?

    Hi all,
I'm currently developping a LV program which control and acquired data from a device. Up to now I used global variables ( very conveniente to use for experimental parameters). But now my program is become to be too large and I have too much "global" variables to continue to use a global.vi.
I'm wondering if functional global can help me. If someone has an exemple of how use functional global with a large amount of variables...
    thanks

    I agree with Ben.
Using queues is better than a number of Globals or Action Engines (Functional Globals).  If you need to pass data to a sub-vi, you can simply wire the queue out to a queue control of a sub-vi, or a reference.  See attached example of passing data to a sub-vi using a queue.  The example is an extremely simple, undocumented tid-bit of code that sends the loop count to the consumer VI.
Run the main program called QueueProducer.vi.

  • Use of global data in transformation with parallel processing

    Hi,
In an upgrade I have a global variable in a routine in 3.5 in a transfer rule. The global variable keeps count of an ID.
The global variable is used in every data package, because the corrsponding infopackage is set to PSA only, where help says:
"If you select this processing option and then request processing is done serially during loading, the global data are maintained as long as the process with which the data were processed remains.
In 7.0 I also use a global variable to do the same thing, but an Infopackage is no longer available, because we use DTP´s now.
How can I store my global variable so that all parallel processing of the data packages use the same global variable? or can I set an option so that the DTP does serial processing, similar to the infopackage setting in 3.5?
As a workaround I increased the package size to a very large figure, but I would be more comfortable with a sounder solution.
    thanks

    Hi Max,
Try to declare your global variable in start routine. Among the lines:
$$ begin of global - insert your declaration only below this line  -
$$ end of global - insert your declaration only before this line   -
    Best Regards.
