Use of minimum, maximum and preferred size?

Hi,
What is the use of the three sizes (maximum size, minimun size and preferred size) of component and container?
And which class use them?

I read somewhere on this forum that most layout managers pretty much ignore these properties... just one of them would properly use it (don't know which one, I think it was one of the 'less-common' ones like Card or BoxLayout).
If somebody has more info I would wanna read it too!

ScrollPane fill width and preferred size

I suspect this is going to end up as a feature request, but does anyone know if there is an existing way to have a ScrollPane stretch its content if the available space is greater than the preferred size of the content, but also not shrink the content if the scrollpane is smaller than the preferred size of the content?
If we have this simple example:

    stage.show();
} When the window is big, our content pane is left at its preferred size with white space around it and no scroll bars showing. When the window is small our contentPane is still at its preferred size with scrollbars on it and no white space. Much as we'd expect.
If we add this line of code:
scrollPane.setFitToWidth(true);Then when the window is big then our contentPane is stretched nicely to fill the available space. When the window is small, the scroll bars don't kick-in (effectively scrolling is turned off) and the contentPane is shrunk to fit the available space.
What I'd rather have is when the window is small we get scrolling, when the window is big, we get stretching. Possible?

It is actually possible to do this in markup as well. For example, the following markup creates an observable array list and attaches a controller-based change event handler to it:

Minimum/Maximum Question

Hello everyone, I have a problem that I haven't been able to come up with a solution to. I'm running Lookout 5.1 interfaced to a GE Fanuc 90/30 PLC. I have a thermocouple input that I want to monitor. I want to setup an alarm that will be tripped if the temperature changed +- 2 degrees over a 24 hour period (running constantly 24/7). I thought of using the minimum/maximum objects but noticed it only tells you the min or max for the past 35 data points. Anyone have any suggestions at to how I can create this alarm? Thanks!!

I'm afraid you misunderstand the meaning of 35.
This object continuously calculates the max value for all the data from the last time you reset it. Everytime you reset it, the current max value will be stored to "maximum.1". It can store the last 35 max values.
You can test it by yourself. Connect a "waveform.random" to it and a pushbutton to "reset".
So, I mean you can accomplish what you want by min/max objects. Regarding the 24h period, you just need to reset it everyday.

I would appreciate it as kind of respect for forum participants if you would clean up your VI before uploading it (or images of its block diagram)…
That being said:
- Your inner while loops each run exactly twice. Replace them with FOR loops!
- Lots of unneeded operations, mainly induced by ExpressVI usage. Is there a reason to convert to DDT and immediately convert back to 1D array?
- You already calculate some Min/Max values. Ratio is just a division of two values…

You should post this into the LabVIEW forum rather than Real-Time since this isn't a Real-Time application. Your post will see more replies in the LabVIEW forum.
As far as your question is concerned, you can write the max and min from the respective loops to a local variable to send the data out of the loops to a third loop or just do the calculation in one of the loops. This would be ideal if you're trying to do this while the loop is running.

How to know if a MRP run element is using Quota Arrangement and lot size?

Two questions:
A) How to determine if a source is actually pulled from Quota Arrangement?
I am wondering if there is anyway from ABAP table or from Transaction (i.e. Purchasing Order) in which the source is pulled from a Quota Arrangement?
We use scheduling agreement, PIR and source list, and as well as Quota Arrangement for our purchasing.
I just want to know how, from system (table and transaction), to find out the source is from quota, not from PIR or others.
B) Quota Arrangement still can work properly if lot-size procedure's splitting quota indicator not Checked?
If my the lot-size procedure which I am using for a material does not activate the splitting quota indicator, it means split quota will not work during MRP run.
But does this also mean that quota arrangement will not be working for this particular material even if I have create a a quota arrangement object (via MEQ1) for this material?

If I want to use the split quota, it seems there is some pre-requisite.
If you go to MEQ1 and press F1's on the "Minimum qty split" column, and you will notice the following message.
Allocation by quota using splitting quotas is only carried out via a requirement planning run, subject to the following preconditions:
Through the appropriate entry in the field Quota arrangement usage (on the MRP data screen 2 or Purchasing screen) it must have been specified that a quota arrangement is to be applied in the planning run.
The indicator for the splitting quota must be set for the the lot-sizing procedure used for materials planning purposes in Customizing.
Hence, the quota arrangmeent still workable even if the lot-size does not have the spliting quota box checked?
Indicator: Splitting quota in short-term horizon
The indicator for splitting is used to determine that in the case of the selected lot size, the quota arrangement is to be applied using the splitting logic.
Use
If this indicator has been set, the lot is split up in the planning run according to the following formula:
quota for source X
Quantity for source X = --------------------- * requirement
sum of all quotas

Rows per batch and Maximum insert commit size

Have been reading various post to understand what the properties 'Maximum insert commit size' and 'Rows per batch' actually do and am confused as each have their own explanation to these properties. As far as I understood, MICS helps SQL server engine to
commit the number of rows specified to it and RPB is to define the number of rows in a batch?
In case I set the property to say RPB - 10000 and MICS - 5000, does this mean the input data is fetched in a batch of 10000 and each time only 5000 are committed?
What happens in case of RPB - 5000, MICS - 10000. Are the batches formed for each 5000 records and committed for each 10k records?
One post mentioned on RPB being merely a property to help SQL server device a optimal plan for data load. If this is true then why have the MICS property? Instead RPB can be assigned a value and engine decides on what is best load method it wants to use.

Hi Rohit,
Maximum insert commit size specify the batch size that the component tries to commit during fast load operations. The value of 0 indicates that all data is committed in a single batch after all rows have been processed. A value of 0 might cause the running
package to stop responding if the component and another data flow component are updating the same source table. To prevent the package from stopping, set the Maximum insert commit size option to 2147483647.
Rows per batch specify the number of rows in a batch. The default value of this property is –1, which indicates that no value has been assigned.

Minimum in and maximum out

In a table i have the following columns , all were varchar2 column and sample data
workdate 10/22/2009
in1 7:48:28 AM
in2 12:46:01 PM
in3 null
out1 12:14:30 PM
out2 null
ou3 null
I need a query which retrieves minimum in and maximum out in DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS format.
if any of the in columns is null mimimum in should be null
if any of the out columns is null maximum out should be null
if minimum in is null,then its value should be equivalent to maximum out
if minimum out is null,then its value should be equivalent to minimum in
if workdate is null both minimum in and maximum out should be null.
Please help gurus...

Getting maximum and minimum of all values in a result set

Hi,
I want to find the maximum and minimum of values of a column in answers. For example, suppose there are three columns x,y,z and 'x' has values 1,2,3. I want to display the result as:
x y z max(x) min(x)
1 y1 z1 3 1
2 y2 z2 3 1
3 y3 z3 3 1
I tried to use the Max and Min functions. But the result is displayed as
1 y1 z1 1 1
2 y2 z2 2 2
3 y3 z3 3 3
Any help is greatly appreciated.

where did you give this max and min ?
You need to type Max( column_name) in the formula of the column and dont choose the max function from the dop down of the "Aggregation Rule"
This should work...

I am using your software: CS6 InDesign Suiteon a PC using a Windows 7 operating system.
Due to eyesight issues, I need to have the menu bars of programs in easy-to-read font and picture size. Specifically, the menu bar across the top (File, Edit, View, etc.), and the menu bar on the left side with the graphic depiction of options.
In earlier versions of Windows (e.g. XP), whenever I changed the screen resolution on my computer to a lesser resolution in order to show the link icons on my desktop in a larger, more readable size, all the software programs, including yours, appeared on my screen with the menu bars in the larger font size that I needed.
However, in Windows 7, this is not the case. Even though I have selected the lowest resolution, making the icons on my desktop extremely large, I cannot read the options across the top menu bar of your program, nor the pull-down menu items that they contain. I cannot see the graphic depictions of options on the left side of the screen. They are all too small. How can I make your program increase the size?

CS6 is not high-DPI compatible/ enabled and that can't be changed. If you cannot6 make it work with your operating system means, then short of joining Creative Cloud and using newer versions there is nothing you can do.

How do I change the font and graphic size when using Firefox

I have recently switched from Windows to Mac. When resizing the window in Mac the font and graphic size do not follow -- they stay the same size and only more "white space" is created by increasing the window size. How do I get the graphics and fonts to adapt to the new window size or at least make the whole image bigger. I am using Firefox 3.6.12 and Mac OS10.6.5. Thanks for the help.

You can select to zoom the full page or only the text: View > Zoom > Zoom Text Only<br />
Firefox 3 can remember the zoom level site specific.

Set maximum matrix row and column size

I hope someone can help me with this. Is there any way to set the row and column size of a matrix control? I have not been able to find a solution. The only way I've been able to set the size is by resetting matrix to its previous state if the user inputs a value outside of the bounds I would like to set. This is done in the 'value changed' event case.
The matrix is large and therefore I cannot increase the size of the control to be the maximum size and then hide the row and column index controls. These have to be displayed.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Here's a quick and dirty way.
Simply hide the index controls and replace them with some fake numeric controls and set the data range accoding to your requirements.
In the attached example (LV8.0), the fake index controls are limited to 0..2, the array size is 5x5 and the displayed array portion is 3x3. Seems to work fine.
(Of course you could add a bit more code to set the limits automatically based on the various sizes.)
You could also make it more fancy and turn the entire thing into an Xcontrol.
