Use the html break tag or CSS?

I have one page on my site where the last two floated images caused problems. Because the text next to each one was not very long, the images got too close and broke the layout. I did a quick fix by inserting a few HTML break tags, but I'm wondering if it would be more professional practice to created an ID or CLASS adding more bottom margin to the paragraphs next to the photos??
http://www.keithpurtell.com/kthings/jack-vance.htm

You could add "clear:left;" or "clear:both;" to your "lft" class in the CSS. This would prevent the images from wrapping around each other.

  • Can I use the HTML created in Adobe Edge Reflow?

    Can I use the HTML and CSS code generated to create the webpage preview in Adobe Edge Reflow?

    Hi Joseph,
    After creating and saving your Edge Reflow project, you can use View-> Preview In Chrome. This will create your HTML and CSS in your project folder's "assets" directory.  While our goal with this code is to provide a way for you to preview and share your designs in the browser (not to output production quality code), you can do anything you'd like with the output.

  • Using the HTML SAP GUI inside the Enterprise Portal?

    Hello everyone
    In our company we plan to set up the SAP Enterprise Portal (NetWeaver 7.0). The first application we want to provide inside the portal is the SAP GUI that connects to our SAP ERP 2005 system via single sign on. Therefor two different approaches exist:
    1: Using the standard SAP GUI inside a portal iView. In this case every client pc needs the SAP GUI installed.
    2: Using the HTML SAP GUI. In this case we have to set up the integrated ITS in our SAP ERP system.
    Now I have some questions about the second approach. Is the functionality of the HTML GUI equal to the functionality of the standard GUI? If not, what are the restrictions? How high is the additional load on the network and SAP ERP system caused by the HTML GUI? Would you recommend this approach for a system with more than thousand SAP users?

    Hi Marc,
    At least if you consider using webgui, you should test the transactions properly as there are some issues for example with scandinavian characters and lines visible in lists of search helps.
    Also you might want to consider the limitations of the screen resolutions and space which the portal framwork already takes from the gui. This of course is a topic for both HTML/SAP GUI's.
    Kind regards,
    Ville

  • Embedding inline HTML data in XML using the mx:XML tag with < and >

    What is best practice for embedding HTML within the
    <mx:XML> tag? Programmatically, I can implement this
    successfully:
    [Bindable]
    public var xmlDP:XML = <component data="&lt;" />;
    However, I get the following error if I try to store the same
    data inline in an mx:XML tag, as such:
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="&lt;" />
    </mx:XML>
    Error #1095: XML parser failure: Unterminated attribute.
    If I change the MXML tag as follows, it works fine:
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="&amp;lt;" />
    </mx:XML>
    Unfortunately, I also can not source the mx:XML tag to an XML
    file which uses &lt; or &gt; codes, as it yields the same
    results. This leads me to believe that the <mx:XML> tag does
    not support the special character codes for < and >, but why?
    Incidentally, this code also gives a 1095 error:
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="&#0060;" />
    </mx:XML>
    This is causing an issue with my source data as it is not
    hand typed into Flex, and standard XML supports the &lt; and
    &gt; codes. I have tried a full HTML string, as shown below,
    but this also generates the error:
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="&lt;b&gt;Test&lt;/b&gt;"
    />
    </mx:XML>
    Many thanks for any input you may have!

    I’m generating the XML source file with
    Microsoft’s XML Notepad 2007. It will encode invalid special
    characters automatically. My understanding is that this is the
    proper way to handle the less than symbol in a XML string, that is
    to say using the &lt; code.
    With respect to the escape and un-escape methods, I am able
    to successfully implement these in AS, but not in MXML. This makes
    sense considering they are AS methods, but I was hoping to be able
    to do something like:
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="escape('<');" />
    </mx:XML>
    This gives the following compilation error:
    The value of attribute "data" must not contain the '<'
    character.
    As does using the escape character as such:
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="\<" />
    </mx:XML>
    Below is an example of what the escape character may be used
    for in AS:
    var myString:String = "\"";
    trace(myString);
    // result: "
    Likewise, I can escape the < character as such:
    var myString:String = escape("<");
    trace(myString);
    // result: %3C
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="%3C" />
    </mx:XML>
    trace(un-escape(xmlDP.@data));
    // result: <
    As you can see, using %3C and unescaping in AS will yield the
    correct result; however, this is not a practical method of
    representing the data in MXML as I would have to write an AS method
    to un-escape the XML string anyway, so I might as well just store
    the data in AS to begin with. I was hoping for a way to source an
    mx:XML object, without having to load it into ActionScript
    manually. Here’s an example of the functionality I would
    expect:
    <mx:XML id="xmlDP">
    <component data="&gt;" />
    </mx:XML>
    trace(xmlDP.@data);
    // result: >
    Only this does not work for the less than symbol. I’m
    assuming at this point that this is a bug in the Flex compiler.
    Thanks again for your help troubleshooting this one!

  • How to use the html:link with a arraylist

    Hi everyone:
    I want to display the data using struts html:link.
    I query the database and place all the data to javabean,later place all the javabean to ArrayList.In Action,I use the "request.setAttribute("lovetable",articlelist) to set request to jsp page.
    I want to pass a parameter "id" use the hyperlink so I can get the parameter when I click the hyperlink.
    But how to use html:link to display it?
    I use <html:link action="viewtopic.do" paramId="id" paramName="lovetable" paramProperty="id"/>,it can't work and Tomcat report error :
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: No getter method for property id of bean lovetable

         at org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet.serviceJspFile(JspServlet.java:295)
         at org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet.service(JspServlet.java:241)
    The lovetable is a ArrayList and it don't have a getter or setter method.
    How to use it pass parameter? :( Thks

    Thank you.
    I use the bean:define successful.And display all the data to jsp.My jsp code is:
    <logic:iterate id="love" name="lovetable">
    <bean:define id="idbean" name="love"/>
    <tr bgcolor="<%=color%>">
    <td><bean:write name="love" property="id"/></td>
    <td><html:link forward="viewtopic" paramId="id" paramName="idbean" paramProperty="id"><bean:write name="love" property="title"/></html:link></td>
    <td><bean:write name="love" property="name"/></td>
    <td><bean:write name="love" property="time"/></td>
    </tr>
    </logic:iterate>
    In Action : request.setAttribute("lovetable",articlelist)
    ResutlSet rs=.............
    List articlelist=new ArrayList();
    while(rs.next()){
    articlebean bean=new articlebean();
    bean.setName(rs.getString("name"));
    bean.setTitle(rs.getString("title"));
    articlelist.add(bean);
    The above code will work property.
    The Tag "html:link" need bean to work other than arraylist so I iterate all the bean out.
    The Tag "logic:iterate" need collection to work so I make Action return a List.
    right?
    Any idea? :)

  • [ADF] Having Difficulties in Figuring Out Using the af:selectInputText Tag

    This is my first time using the ADF tags.
    The <af:selectInputText> is an input component that can launch a dialog and automatically accept its return value.
    My pop-up is a data table that provides "code" and "description". And the selection made will be return to the parent page and the "code" will be populated in the input field.
    First, I tested if my data table can be constructed successfully. Yes, I am able to use the JSF <h:dataTable> tag to display without problem.
    Second, I have adf-faces-api-10_1_3_0_4.jar and adf-faces-impl-10_1_3_0_4.jar in my WEB-INF/lib directory.
    Third, my web.xml and faces-config.xml work well because I was able to render JSF tags.
    Fourth, I have created the adf-faces-config.xml file with its contents directly copied from the ADF Configuration web site. The adf-faces-config.xml is placed together with the web.xml and faces-config.xml files.
    Fifth, on top of my ***.jsp, I added
    <%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/EA10" prefix="af" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/EA10/html" prefix="afh" %>
    However, the IDE says that <af:selectInputText ...> is an unknown tag.
    Besides, for the value of the "action" attribute of the <af:selectInputText ...>, what is supposed to be filled for the "dialog:?????"
    and the compiler starts complaining that the "value" attribute in my <h:dataTable ...> has no value! But, my <h:dataTable ....> worked well before I introduced ADF.
    Here is my code in the ***.jsp:
         <f:view>
              <h:form>
                     <af:selectInputText label="Sex: " id="idInputText"
                       value="#{listOfValuesManagementBean.selectedGender}"
                    popupTitle="Sex Types"
                        action="dialog:????????????" windowWidth="300" windowHeight="200">
                       <h:dataTable id="gender" value="#{listOfValuesManagementBean.genderTypes}" var="genderType">
                            <h:column>
                                 <f:facet name="header">
                                      <h:outputText value="Code"/>
                                 </f:facet>
                                 <h:outputText value="#{genderType.code}"/>
                            </h:column>
                            <h:column>
                                 <f:facet name="header">
                                      <h:outputText value="Description"/>
                                 </f:facet>
                                 <h:outputText value="#{genderType.description}"/>
                            </h:column>
                       </h:dataTable>
              </af:selectInputText>
              </h:form>
         </f:view>

    I use IBM Rational Application Developer (RAD v.7)
    As you know that my JSF code had worked before I started introducing ADF tags.
    Now, I have resoved all the complilation complaints in my ***.jsp where I have the ADF <af:selectInputText ...> tag and all tags inside the <af:selectInputText ...> tag.
    But, I have the "Error 500: Cannot find FacesContext" in the browser when I run the ***.jsp.
    I believe it is in my web.xml file:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

  • Problem in using the f:attribute tag in JSF

    when I am trying to loop the JSF using the JSTL tag <c:foreach> I am getting the value as "Error:form_id0" .cold any one help me please

    Now with Unified EL - JSTL and JSF tags are supposed to work on one page.
    If you want to use Unified EL you need
    1) A container that is built on Servlet 2.5 / JSP 2.1 , and example of such a container is Tomcat 6.x
    2) Probably need to upgrade to JSTL 1.2 , and JSF 1.2
    3) If you're upgrading the container to Servlet 2.5 then web.xml should conform to Servlet 2.5 version.
    4) Use correct taglib URIs for JSTL 1.2 and JSF 1.2
    Read here: Summary of new features in JSP 2.1

    are using Weblogic 5.1. When I use the following statement, 6 articles are taken
    from the database, then sorted, which ends up leaving out the most recent articles:
    <cm:select contentHome="com.beasys.commerce.axiom.document.Document" query="<%=contentQuery%>"
    sortby = "creationDate DESC, headlineDate DESC" max="6" id="contentList" />
    I need to get ALL the articles for the sort, then just take the most recent 6.
    So, I know that I can use the following code and monitor the counter variable,
    "i". But, how do i do this to only display the top 6 items?
    <es:foreachinarray id="content" array="contentList" type="com.beasys.commerce.axiom.content.Content"

  • Problem in tree while using the HTML format in the lable

    DefaultTreeCellRenderer is not working properly if we pass the string as a html format inside the DefaultMutableTreeNode. Using the below code snipet you can cleraly identify the problem.
    Kindly compile &execute the below code.All the lable's will be painted properly according to the color code that i've mentioned.
    After that please uncomment al the DefaultMutableTreeNode variables corresponding to html tag representation and comment the already existing DefaultMutableTreeNode variables .
    someone please clarify me the things what is happening here?

    Then I guess the problems come with setting explicit foreground colours on the one hand and using html on the other, even when not specifying them in the html. Stick to one or the other, I suppose. I'm not a fan of using html in labels so I don't know what problems you might run into.
    I've got rid of setForeground in the renderer and set the font colour in html. Then it is stable:

  • How to use the ph:placeholder tag propery  (wlportal 4) ?

    hi,
    I created a placeholder with the help of ebcc. Next I loaded data into
    cloudscape database. This data is a pure html file. It contains Meta Tags
    like productCategory for example. My placeholder queries for this meta tag.
    But eveytime it gets the data from the database and diplays it, I can see
    the JSESSIONID at the page. Can anyone tell me, why the JSESSIONID is
    diplayed?
    It looks like :

  • Not to display the HTML markup tags in JSP

    Hi all,
    Im my struts FormBean i have a String variable which contains HTML tags ( e.g <P> this is a sample text </p><br>....)
    If the markups are not to be displayed in the resulting JSP, what should be done?
    -Seshu

    If I understand your question, and you want the value of the String variable outputed in the HTML, like showing HTML source, replacing '<' with "&lt;", '>' with "&gt;", '&' with "&amp;", and '"' with "&quot;" will do the trick and is XHTML-safe. (Replace the '&' character first)
