User input in the middle of the loop
How can I take user input in the middle of the loop and execute the rest of the loop?
FOR .. LOOP
User input…………;
Update with User input;
END LOOP;
Thanks in advance.

Forms has no mechanism like that where you can prompt the user for input.
An Alert is the closest thing, but alerts only accept three button pushes; no keyboard input is allowed.
If you describe what you need, someone might help you redesign your code so it appears to act like a looping process.
Edit: Thanks Andreas, your suggestion below is a good solution.

SSIS Package fails in the middle of the execution with some error
Hi ALL,
I have an SSIS Package which basically loops across various files and various sheets and loads that data into a SQL table.Lets say i have 50 files it loads randomly somewhere around 30 and suddenly fails in the middle with the following error
[Excel Source [1]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER.
The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel" failed with error code 0xC0202009.
I have no idea what this mean, i googled around and saw that i need to change the debugging properties from TRUE to FALSE, i did that but no use.
Can someone please explain me what could be the reason for this one to be happening and how can i get around this one?
Thanks.Hi Patrick,
The link you gave above helped me to achieve what i exactly want. I am using multiple processes to load the files now.
It really sucks that there is no solution for this one.But glad i am able to work it in different way.
Thanks a lot for your reply.
Not sure if its related
I've had similar error recently while working with ACE provider and these steps helped me to fix it

23" hot pixel right in the middle of the screen
I've just bought a 23" for photography. The problem is that there is a hot green pixel in the middle of the screen which makes calibration with my spyder2 calibrator an issue : It's hard to get around the calibration zone (which displays the color that read the calibrator).
And obviously the calibrator window is non movable...
Therefore the black read seems to be wrong, and I can see a subtle yet very annoying shift to the purples in the shadows, which for photography makes the whole 23" completely useless.
I've looked about the Apple license on this (before coming to that forum) and it seems that the only green pixel in the middle of the screen would not make it elligible for a replace.
So did I just spend 1150 euros for nothing ?
Thanks for any reply on this,
Raphael
new mac mini intel (also not working) Mac OS X (10.4.8)Hi-
You are not alone-BUT, at least it's not a dead pixel. A stuck pixel can be repaired (un-stuck) by .............Massage!
Yes, this is for real. It worked for me on my bright green pixel, 1 cm right of dead center.
Here are some links to "How To's":
http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Stuck-Pixel-on-an-LCD-Monitor
Some find success using a "software" method- basically a looped video flashing the monitor:
http://fixdeadpixels.uv.ro/fix-stuck-pixels.html
http://www.lifehack.org/articles/lifehack/how-to-fix-your-stuck-pixel-on-lcd.htm l
I have read reports, though, of the flashing monitor trick to cause more stuck pixels.
Other reports are of users both massaging and flashing at the same time.
So, you and your pixel don't have to be "stuck" with each other.......! -
Tty1-6 freeze in the middle of the boot process, tty7 and X works fine
I'm running Arch+KDE (and some alternative like xmonad as wm). I have the following strange problem:
Booting works fine, KDM starts, I can login, everythings works. However, although I can change to tty1-6 via ctrl+alt+f1...6 they are frozen in the middle of the boot process, here's exactly what I see after switching to another tty:

The curious thing is that everything works perfect in KDE, resp. tty7 ?!?what ever upgrade the software downloaded is the problem
You didn't mention this in your first post. Any idea what it was? Backups?
Besides that, this may be a fault in the video card, driver, or a screen fault.
Courtesy of BDAqua (if possible):
Take a screen shot & view that in Preview, move the Preview window around, if you see double lines it's a Video card/VRAM problem, if the lines do not move moving the pic around then it's the LCD or cable. -
How to invoke a java application in the middle of the process
In the middle of one process, I want to invoke a java application. After the java application, the process will continue and select a path based on the result of the java application. Which activity can be used to invoke a java application in the middle of the process?
ThanksBPM Changes:
1. Under 'External Resources' create a new resource of type 'Server Configuration'. Specify the host port and path of your servlet here. This will be invoked from your process. Lets name this configuration as 'myExternalConf'.
2. Create an interactive activity say 'InvokeMyApplication' in your process. The main task of this application should be external task. (Implementation Type = External)
3. Create the prepareMethod method say 'prepareExternal'. Set the arguments for this method as output arguments. These arguments will be available to you in your external servlet.
4. Create the commit method say 'commitExternal'. Set the arguments as input arguments. The external servlet will return these arguments back to the process.
5. Check the 'Use configuration' checkbox for your main task (external task). Select 'myExternalConf' here.
Servlet changes:
When the user executes your 'InvokeMyApplication' activity, he will be taken to the external servlet of your external application. You will be passed the currentActivity, currentParticipant, instanceID and one more argument (which I dont remember :( ) as url parameters.
1. In this servlet, open a PAPI/PAPI WS session for the participant passed to the servlet as url parameter
2. Use the currentActivity ( passed in url parameter), to call prepare method on this activity. This will return you with the arguments defined in 'prepareExternal' method.
3. Using these argumets, or otherwise, you can do whatever you want in this servlet. When done prepare the arguments to pass back to BPM.
4. call papiService.activityCommit and return the arguments.
5. Flow goes back to your BPM application
Some code that might help:
Servlet calling prerpare:
ProcessServiceSession papisession = null;
try{
papisession = initializePapi();
fuego.papi.Arguments args = fuego.papi.Arguments.create();
args = papisession.activityPrepare(activity, instanceId, args);
Map<String, Object> argsMap = args.getArguments();
return argsMap;
protected ProcessServiceSession initializePapi(){
Properties configuration = new Properties();
try {
InputStream inputStream = getClass().getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream("bpm.properties");
if(inputStream == null)
throw new IOException();
configuration.load(inputStream);
} catch (IOException ex) {
log.log(Level.WARNING, "Could not load bpm.properties", ex);
return null;
Servlet calling commit:
public void commitToALBPM(Map parameters){
try{
papisession = initializePapi();
fuego.papi.Arguments args = fuego.papi.Arguments.create();
Set s = parameters.keySet();
Iterator propNames = s.iterator();
while (propNames.hasNext()){
String key = (String)propNames.next();
String val = (String)parameters.get(key);
args.putArgument(key, val);
papisession.activityCommit(activity, instanceId, args);
catch (OperationException e)

How can I see my document in the middle of the page ?
Hi everyone,
I just downloaded the trial of i-Work but I'm in trouble with Pages. Indeed I would like to see my white document, on which I'm writting, in the middle of my page. At the moment it is on the left, with grey on the right.
And : 1- I don't want to have the whole page in white, that's to say I don't want to zoom in. 2- I don't want neither to put Pages'09 in the middle of my screen, surrounded by my background. 3- I don't want to use the full screen mode all the time. Actually, this is quite simple : I would like to have a presentation similar to Word (not because I can't forget Word, just because I feel more concentrated with this kind of presentation )
I checked the user's manual, and I couldn't find the solution. So could someone help me ? Is it possible to have the page of our document in the middle of the Pages' screen ?Sorry if I seem picky but I believe using the right words makes it easier to communicate. The document isn't showing in a page. The document page is in a window. The page is placed to the top and to the left in the window.
I also would like to have more space in the window on all the sides of the page. We can ask for it using this link: _http://www.apple.com/feedback/pages.html_ -
my Mac book air will not start up it hangs in the middle of the status bar when I turn it on and will not move.
Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
To restart an unresponsive computer, press and hold the power button for a few seconds until the power shuts off, then release, wait a few more seconds, and press it again briefly.
Step 1
The first step in dealing with a startup failure is to secure the data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to start. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
a. Start up from the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.” The article refers to starting up from a DVD, but the procedure in Recovery mode is the same. You don't need a DVD if you're running OS X 10.7 or later.
b. If Step 1a fails because of disk errors, and no other Mac is available, then you may be able to salvage some of your files by copying them in the Finder. If you already have an external drive with OS X installed, start up from it. Otherwise, if you have Internet access, follow the instructions on this page to prepare the external drive and install OS X on it. You'll use the Recovery installer, rather than downloading it from the App Store.
c. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, start the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
d. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
Step 2
If the startup process stops at a blank gray screen with no Apple logo or spinning "daisy wheel," then the startup volume may be full. If you had previously seen warnings of low disk space, this is almost certainly the case. You might be able to start up in safe mode even though you can't start up normally. Otherwise, start up from an external drive, or else use the technique in Step 1b, 1c, or 1d to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation.
Step 3
Sometimes a startup failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
Step 4
If a desktop Mac hangs at a plain gray screen with a movable cursor, the keyboard may not be recognized. Press and hold the button on the side of an Apple wireless keyboard to make it discoverable. If need be, replace or recharge the batteries. If you're using a USB keyboard connected to a hub, connect it to a built-in port.
Step 5
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
Step 6
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can start up now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
Step 7
If you've started from an external storage device, make sure that the internal startup volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Start up in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know the login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you start up in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, the startup volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 11. If you ever have another problem with the drive, replace it immediately.
If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the startup process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
Step 8
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select the startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.
Step 9
If the startup device is an aftermarket SSD, it may need a firmware update and/or a forced "garbage collection." Instructions for doing this with a Crucial-branded SSD were posted here. Some of those instructions may apply to other brands of SSD, but you should check with the vendor's tech support.
Step 10
Reinstall the OS. If the Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
Step 11
Do as in Step 9, but this time erase the startup volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically restart into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer the data from a Time Machine or other backup.
Step 12
This step applies only to models that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery: all Mac Pro's and some others (not current models.) Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a startup failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
Step 13
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. -

in the middle of the installation processing, this has appeared: "There is a problem with the windows installer package. A program is required for this install to complete could not be run." my question is, what is that specific program?
Let's try the following user tip with that one:

Strange small glyph in the middle of the screen when using LabVIEW 8.2.1
I've started noticing a strange small glyph in the middle of the screen when I am using LabVIEW 8.2.1.
Sometimes it is there, sometimes it isn't. Has anyone else seen this? Why is it there? Can I get rid of it?
(Just in case you think I am going crazy from too much LabVIEW I'll include a screen capture of it...)
Well that's it. I barely noticed it on my blue/ background picture. It seems to be there on my XP machine but not my Win2K machine.

strange glyph.PNG 1 KBIt's something from your video driver (If I recall correctly an NVIDIA).
LabVIEW creates somewhere off-screen a window with a size of 0,0. The driver detects this and as som sort of anti-spam moves it on-screen.

Aperture 3.4.4 crashes, on printing but also in the middle of the night
I've been experiencing quite frequent crashes on Aperture 3.4.4 while printing to Epson R3000 from my iMac. The Diagnostic Reports logs also show crashes in the middle of the night (01:37 am this morning for example) when nobody was using the system.
The Aperture Lbrary is on the main hard drive (with backups to Time Vault and an external HD).
The problem has occurred both before and after a system reboot.
Aperture has been relaunched and is printing again right now, but this is an irritating and re-occurring problem.
Can anyone advise? The latest crash report follows.
