User management API

Hello,
could you please tell me how I can create Groups and add users to, within EP, using the User management API ?
do you have a javadoc on the User management API ?
best regards,

Here's sample code for adding users to a group:
// assign individual user to a Group
String userid = "<unique-id of user>";
String groupid = "<unique-id of group>";
IGroupFactory grpFact = UMFactory.getGroupFactory();
// add the user
grpFact.addUserToGroup(userid, groupid);
// get rid of the user
grpFact.removeUserFromGroup(userid,groupid);
Note: the unique IDs are obtained by searching for the user or group. You can also use the appropriate factory (e.g. UserFactory)
The IDs look something like:
GRUP.CORP_LDAP_2.cn=developers,ou=groups,dc=sap,dc=corp
or
USER.CORP_LDAP.uid=i802895,ou=people,dc=sap,dc=corp
So:
String uid = "i802895";
IUser user = UMFactory.getUserFactory().getUserByLogonID(uid);
String uniqID = user.getUniqueID();

  • Accessing the user management API programmatically

    I am looking for the officially supported method that could be used to access the user management API via "curl" for CRX:
    There is a user management API described here:
    http://sling.apache.org/site/managing-users-and-groups-jackrabbitusermanager.html
    However, executing a command on CRX 2.2 such as:
    curl -u:admin:admin http://localhost:7402/system/userManager/user.tidy.1.json
    Only returns a message indicating that the contents have been redirected (without providing another URL).
    Using the Content Explorer in CRX shows the list of users at: /home/users but I am not sure if a curl command could access the user list via that URL.
    Any pointers on how this could be done are appreciated.  This is for a partner.
    Regards,
    Blair

    I am a co-worker of MorrellJ.  I am trying to do a change password request using the Jackrabbit User Manager with the REST URL /system/userManager/user/<username>.changePassword.json.  The problem I am having is that this request requires an oldPwd form param in the request.  The issue is that when I am trying to do this request it is in response to the user selecting "Forgot Password" so our logic has created a random password which we then email to the user so they can use that the next time they want to login.  We need to change that user's password in CRX so they can log in using it next time.  Since they haven't logged in there is no session, NOT the problem.  THE PROBLEMS, I don't know 1. how to use the userManager to get that user's old password, since /system/userManager/user/<username>.json doesn't appear to return the password and 2. if I could get the old password it most certainly will be encoded, some how, so I will need some decoding algorithm to pass it through in order to get the actual password to set as the oldPwd form param to my change password request.  Please let me know if you require any further explanation.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you, in advance, for your assistance.

  • User management API/get all the users for a group

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to get all the users and their associated groups with the user management API. The method DirectoryManagerServiceClient.findGroupMembers(GroupMembershipSearchFilter)
    returns all the users, great, but not the associated groups.
    TO get the users i use the oid of a "super group" and this "super group" contains severals groups. It's the information about these groups i need.
    I have read in the documentation of Principal Object that a search could omit
    the group informations for efficiency. How can i bypass this limitation?
    Thank you in advance for your help,
    Philippe Vandenhove

    Hi Philippe
    Our CreateUser component will allow you to create local users and groups.
    http://avoka.dnsalias.com/confluence/display/Public/Create+User+Create+Group
    LookupGroup takes a group name or id, and returns a list of all members. I'm pretty sure it recursively evaluates contained groups, but you'll need to check. If it doesn't, log a bug to support-at-avoka.com.

  • Service for User Management API

    Hi,
    I want to use the User Management service in the portal component.I would like to include the classes present in the package  com.sapportals.portal.prt.service.usermanagement.IUserManagementService.
    To develop the Portal component , I am using Netweaver Developer studio. The problem is How can I add the service User Management service to my particular project ?
    Any ideas.
    Thanks,
    Vivek

    Hi Darell, hi Vivek,
    > request.getService
    ... is deprecated. Use <i>PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources().getService</i>
    Vivek: To get this work, as usual you'll have to add com.sap.portal.usermanagement/lib/com.sap.portal.usermanagementapi.jar to your classpath as well as com.sap.portal.usermanagement to the SharingReference within portalapp.xml.
    Hope it helps

  • User Management API for unlocking/locking users

    Hello All,
    I am trying to develop an application where in a person should input the user id and check if the user is currently locked or unlocked. And also if it is locked, he should be able to unlock it. I want to know that, is there any UME API available for fetching the lock/unlock status and modifying it? I tried using IUsermaint but it does not returns the lock status. Any input on this? or may be a code snippet?
    Thanks in advance.
    Ameya

    The setLocked() method mentioned above takes 2 parameters, a boolean and an int.
    public void setLocked(boolean lock, int reason)
    boolean parameter indicates whether to lock or unlock user. In above snippet, I have given it as false which is to unlock user. To lock the users, mention the parameter as true.
    int parameter is to specify the lock/unlock reason.
    Check javadocs for more details

  • Find user management API in 7.1 EHP

    Hi,
    where can I find the file tcjeusermanagement~api.jar in a CE 7.1 EHP1 system?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kevin

    Kevin,
    Please use DCs instead of projects as usage of DCs supports a very good team oriented development.
    However, if you want to use projects and use the APIs then, navigate to the plug-ins folder where you have installed your NWDS.
    \plugins\com.sap.tc.ap_2.0.1.090311145431\comp\ENGFACADE\DCs\sap.com\tc
    \je\usermanagement\api\_comp\gen\default\public\api\lib\java
    You'll find the relevant jar file in this location. Establish a reference in the project build path (< Your Project > --> Properties --> Java Build Path --> Libraries --> Add Jars / Add External Jars).
    You'll now be able to access the APIs in design time.

  • User Management Service API javadoc

    According to the following document:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/f7/f289c67c759a41b570890c62a03519/frameset.htm
    I can use the User Management Service interface to check authorizations:
    "You can use the User Management Service to check the authorizations; there are various interfaces and methods available for this purpose."
    Where are these interfaces and methods documented? I searched help.sap.com for "User Management Service" but am not able to find the javadoc API documentation.

    Hey David,
    I must have misunderstood your question as I thought you couldn't "...figure out how to integrate these both elements through service link, with an agent and adapters." - Starter Edition has a reusable approach.
    I'm interested in understanding where the user management features of Starter Edition aren't quite making your grade. The requirements driving Starter Edition's feature set are as they pertain to the enterprise as a private cloud deployment. Given this environment, the two primary deployment scenarios SE addresses are 1) no external user account data source (no directory integration), 2) external data source integration using one of the three types of directory servers supported by Cloud Portal. Scenario 2 two supports user authentication only and user authentication and authorization.
    Scenario 1 supports user and organization management using Cloud Portal as the data source. Scenario 2 supports a pre-populated data source under the premise that enterprises most commonly have a existing directory services they desire to integrate with the solution, which is to say that an uncommon and not natively supported scenario is one in which the enterprise has no existing user account data source, but has idle directory services they would like for the solution to populate with new user accounts created through he solution. Certainly, such a scenario may be supported by extending the solution.
    Let me know how you come along.

  • Using User Management Engine API in Portal Application

    Hello,
    I actually develope a simple Portal Application, which print any User-Infos. Especially I need the date of the last Login. For this purpose I read the Article Using User Management Engine API - Portal - SAP Library where they use the library com.sap.security.api. In the articel they describe also, how to set DC dependencies. But this doesn't function for a Portal Component, because they do not appear in the Component Browser.
    So my question is, how get I the User Management Engine API referenced in my Portal Application, so that I can use the package com.sap.security.api. In the filesystem I can not find a JAR-File for the Development Componenten tc/je/usermanagement/api
    Greetings,
    Thomas

    HI,
    Getting the last logon date can be a small problem. There is a method called: getLastSuccessfulLogonDate, but that one is deprecated since NW 2004s.
    https://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW04S/SPS09/se/com/sap/security/api/IUserAccount.html#getLastSuccessfulLogonDate()
    In NW 7.3 the method is still there: Generated Documentation (Untitled), but even so, JavaDoc states that the value is not updated automatically
    "get last sucessful logon date NOTE: This attribute is not automatically updated during login."

  • EWS Managed API - 1. BindToItems returns ErrorAccessDenied error, 2. appointments created in one mailbox show up in others

    Hi,
    I know there are other questions about ErrorAccessDenied but they are not exactly describing my situation and all are pretty much old and mostly not answered so forgive me for creating my own.
    Also, wall of text coming so please bear with me.
    We have an application that synchronizes Exchange items into our internal systems. Items created on Exchange are stored in that system and vice versa of course with a lot of business logic and rules, etc. Application uses EWS Managed API and impersonation
    to access users mailboxes. Everything works fine but now we have this one customer that has a lot of strange things going on with main 2 problems mentioned in subject.
    1. To ensure both sides (Exchange and our system) are in sync we have a functionality that allows users to decide that items no longer existing on Exchange should be removed also from system database. Since in our record we store id of original Exchange
    item internal system simply sends us list of those ids to confirm items still exist. What application does is a BindToItems method call with BasePropertySet.IdOnly as requested property and depending on server response we notify internal system about state
    of items. There is some semi complex logic behind what exactly is done on system side but in general NoError and item returned means item exists, ErrorItemNotFound means item doesn't exist.
    For this one customer suddenly we started to receive ErrorAccessDenied and ErrorBatchProcessingStopped error codes which is very strange because seconds earlier there were events read from PullSubscribtion, items read from server, items created on server
    and bunch of other stuff going on which basically makes me sure that impersonation is working. For some reason during execution of this particular code ErrorAccesDenied is returned and it messes up whole BindToItems call.
    But what is really strange is that for first id in list of ids we get NoError and correct item returned, for second id we get ErrorAccessDenied, and rest of responses is ErrorBatchProcessingStopped. So is it really about credentials or there is some
    completely different reason AccessDenied is retuned? According to customer those items exist in user mailbox for whom those errors are showing up. It doesn't happen for all users, only for some - who have exactly the same configuration of mailboxes as rest
    (according to customer).
    2. For same customer another problem started to occur since 1st of January, at least that is a date when they noticed it for the first time. Again, it happens for some users and there is no scenario that would guarantee to reproduce it.
    When new record is created in our system or its data change it has to be created/updated on Exchange. With same impersonation as for problem described above I simply create new item or find existing item using id provided by our system, set item properties
    according to whatever was sent and save/update item on Exchange. Simple and it works in multiple installations without problems.
    But this customer reports that appointments created for one user show up in other users mailboxes which I find really strange because as far as I know when I impersonate [email protected] everything I do is executed in context of this one user only. So if
    I create appointment in his calendar I cannot create same appointment in userB's calendar without explicitly switching impersonation to userB. What is worth mentioning during our sync process we store on Exchange items bunch of custom properties that help
    us verify whole process and do various filters, etc. All of those custom properties are visible in outlook in that design form view or whatever it is called. And I have screenshot from user that claims to have one of those "not his" appointments
    and basically half of our properties is not there and some have no values while they definitely should have otherwise whole sync would fail and everything is logged as successful.
    Sorry for this wall of text but I really have no idea what can causing those strange problems so I tried to describe as much as possible without breaching NDA and such stuff. We added a lot of logging around areas where impersonation is changed, Exchange
    items are created/updated, etc. Logs show nothing, of course.
    So, for first issue: is it possible that items were moved on Exchange in such way that user still can see them but for EWS API call we get ErrorAccessDenied? I'm not sure where exactly could be such location because if id of an item would change we should
    rather get ErrorItemNotFound or even something about id being not properly formatted, right?
    For second issue: is it possible that there is something running on Exchange server and does some kind of simplistic mirroring of items between mailboxes? Customer claims there are no such things on server nor user side but can it be something that non-IT
    people wouldn't know? Like some kind of script that admins like to run to keep server healthy or something innocent but lethal for our scenarios? Anybody has any hints what we should even ask customer about to get closer to solution of those mysterious problems?

    Were you able to figure what was going on with your first problem? we're seeing the exact same issue with one of our customers.

  • Using Jackrabbit User Manager programmatically for changing passwords and getting user data.

    Sincerely,

    Does your response mean that until version 2.1.2 of Jackrabbit User Manager is released I cannot change the password without knowing the old password?
    No. It means that this feature is not available in version 2.1.0 of the Sling Jackrabbit User Manager bundle. It was added after that release. You have a number of options:
    Build the bundle from source.
    Use one of the SNAPSHOT bundles available from the Apache Snapshots repository.
    Use the release which is being voted upon now (https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapachesling-175/org/apache/sling/org .apache.sling.jcr.jackrabbit.usermanager/2.2.0/). (Note - we decided to use 2.2.0 as the version number rather than 2.1.2 as originally planned due to the scope of this release).
    Write a different servlet which performs the same actions.
    Meaning that being able to use either the credentials of the "Admin" user or using the credentials of a member of the "UserAdmin" group is not supported in the current released version 2.1.0?
    Correct. It was added after the 2.1.0 release.
      If I currently need the old password is there any Sling REST - Jackrabbit API call I can use in order to get the old password since using /system/userManager/user/<username>.json doesn't appear to return the password?
    -Mike
    The plain text password is not stored. And this should be considered a good thing.
    If you have questions about the development process we follow in Sling (or at Apache as a whole), by all means ask on the Sling users mailing list. It is reasonably well-established and we love to talk about it.
