User Management Service API javadoc

I can use the User Management Service interface to check authorizations:
"You can use the User Management Service to check the authorizations; there are various interfaces and methods available for this purpose."
Where are these interfaces and methods documented? I searched help.sap.com for "User Management Service" but am not able to find the javadoc API documentation.
Hey David,
I must have misunderstood your question as I thought you couldn't "...figure out how to integrate these both elements through service link, with an agent and adapters." - Starter Edition has a reusable approach.
I'm interested in understanding where the user management features of Starter Edition aren't quite making your grade. The requirements driving Starter Edition's feature set are as they pertain to the enterprise as a private cloud deployment. Given this environment, the two primary deployment scenarios SE addresses are 1) no external user account data source (no directory integration), 2) external data source integration using one of the three types of directory servers supported by Cloud Portal. Scenario 2 two supports user authentication only and user authentication and authorization.
Scenario 1 supports user and organization management using Cloud Portal as the data source. Scenario 2 supports a pre-populated data source under the premise that enterprises most commonly have a existing directory services they desire to integrate with the solution, which is to say that an uncommon and not natively supported scenario is one in which the enterprise has no existing user account data source, but has idle directory services they would like for the solution to populate with new user accounts created through he solution. Certainly, such a scenario may be supported by extending the solution.

Using User Management Engine API in Portal Application
Hello,
I actually develope a simple Portal Application, which print any User-Infos. Especially I need the date of the last Login. For this purpose I read the Article Using User Management Engine API - Portal - SAP Library where they use the library com.sap.security.api. In the articel they describe also, how to set DC dependencies. But this doesn't function for a Portal Component, because they do not appear in the Component Browser.
So my question is, how get I the User Management Engine API referenced in my Portal Application, so that I can use the package com.sap.security.api. In the filesystem I can not find a JAR-File for the Development Componenten tc/je/usermanagement/api
Greetings,
ThomasHI,
Getting the last logon date can be a small problem. There is a method called: getLastSuccessfulLogonDate, but that one is deprecated since NW 2004s.
https://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW04S/SPS09/se/com/sap/security/api/IUserAccount.html#getLastSuccessfulLogonDate()
In NW 7.3 the method is still there: Generated Documentation (Untitled), but even so, JavaDoc states that the value is not updated automatically
"get last sucessful logon date NOTE: This attribute is not automatically updated during login." -

User Management Service Item in Cisco Portal
Hello,
I am right now using the CIAC portal to perform simple tasks on my infrastructure and I would like to be able to add a user to a given group in AD.
I have done the TEO process (with group and user parameters) and it works.
I have done the service request (with the form, the fields, the category, etc.) and I can fill it.
But I cannot figure out how to integrate these both elements through service link, with an agent and adapters.
Does somebody knows how to do it? Or where I can find some step by step information to do it?
Thanks by advanceHey David,

Service for User Management API
Hi,
I want to use the User Management service in the portal component.I would like to include the classes present in the package com.sapportals.portal.prt.service.usermanagement.IUserManagementService.
To develop the Portal component , I am using Netweaver Developer studio. The problem is How can I add the service User Management service to my particular project ?
Any ideas.
Thanks,
VivekHi Darell, hi Vivek,
> request.getService
... is deprecated. Use <i>PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources().getService</i>
Vivek: To get this work, as usual you'll have to add com.sap.portal.usermanagement/lib/com.sap.portal.usermanagementapi.jar to your classpath as well as com.sap.portal.usermanagement to the SharingReference within portalapp.xml.
Hope it helps
Detlev
PS: Vivek, seems you overlooked my helping answers at /thread/27173 [original link is broken] ... -
Hi,
How do I expose the User Management Service as a webservice in Web AS 6.20 or 6.30? Thanks!
-VuHi Vu,
Is it relevant to expose UM service throught WS? Anyway you can do it using Portal WS. (see Enterprise Portal Perspective)
I think it should be better if you create your own Portal Service mapping the UM service and expose only the methods you want.

Hello,
I have a few questions to the User Management of the LiveCycle 7.0 products. Because there is no forum especially for UM and a documentation for the UM API comes with the SDK, I post my questions here and hope that somebody might be able to answer them.
My main problem is that I just need some users for testing purposes, so I would like to find a quick and easy way.
Is there a possibility to manually insert users in UM? I searched, but I haven't found one. The only possibilities I have found are
1. LDAP: I don't know much about LDAP, I have no idea how fast I can set up users here, and I don't have any Active Directory or similar to use LDAP with
2. JAAS: I haven't found any documentation how the JAAS interface needs to be configured, and I already crashed the installation in trying to use JAAS.
3. Write a custom service provider
Is there a possibility to configure LiveCycle UM to use the Windows OS users? How much effort is it to write a custom service provider which gets the user information e.g. from a file (remember it's just for testing, so need not be that secure) or from Windows OS? Has anyone already set up a custom service provider for the User Management? Do I have to set up authentication AND directory services or is authentication sufficient? Has anybody found the samples mentioned in the documentation 'Developing User Management Service Providers' (this relates to my other entry in this forum)?
Please, any help is really appreciated and urgently needed!
Thanks in advance!

Exposing Portal's User Management functionality via Web Service issue
Dear experts,
I am trying to create and deploy a web service that will tap into User Management functionality (UMFactory) of the Portal. I created a Java project with a Java class with one of the methods exposed via Web Service. Since this is a Java project and not a Web Dynpro project, a number of external jars and libraries, but I don't know how to add WD_RUNTIME and I am guessing that my problem is related to that.
When trying to run the application, I receive the following error message when trying to envoke UMFactory:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/tc/logging/Location

at com.hollister.getusers.GetPortalUsers.getPortalUsers(GetPortalUsers.java:75)

Please, help.
Thanks,

Where is the latest javadoc for Workflow Services API?
Hi all,
anybody knows where to get the latest javadoc for Oracle BPEL Process Manager
Workflow Services API Reference 10g Release 3 (10.1.3) ?
In the javadoc it is said that IWorklistService.getWorklistTaskDetails(..) returns IWorklistTask but apparently it returns a Task object.
Also, I saw some of the interfaces and classes are deprecated and replaced by classes in oracle.bpel.services.workflow package, where is the jar containing this new package?
Thanks a lot for the help,
santosoThanks for posing the question as to where is the javadoc for 10.1.3.1. Now, what is the answer?

Hello,
could you please tell me how I can create Groups and add users to, within EP, using the User management API ?
do you have a javadoc on the User management API ?
best regards,Here's sample code for adding users to a group:
// assign individual user to a Group
String userid = "<unique-id of user>";
String groupid = "<unique-id of group>";
IGroupFactory grpFact = UMFactory.getGroupFactory();
// add the user
grpFact.addUserToGroup(userid, groupid);
// get rid of the user
grpFact.removeUserFromGroup(userid,groupid);
Note: the unique IDs are obtained by searching for the user or group. You can also use the appropriate factory (e.g. UserFactory)
The IDs look something like:
GRUP.CORP_LDAP_2.cn=developers,ou=groups,dc=sap,dc=corp
or
USER.CORP_LDAP.uid=i802895,ou=people,dc=sap,dc=corp
So:
String uid = "i802895";
IUser user = UMFactory.getUserFactory().getUserByLogonID(uid);
String uniqID = user.getUniqueID(); -
Initiall SharePoint Server 2013 setup -- unable to manage new User Profile Service Application
During initial farm setup, creating an initial User Profile Service Application works fine. However, once it's created, I cannot 'manage' it through the Manage Service Applications page in central
admin.
I get a generic error (Sorry, something went wrong / unexpected error) with a correlation ID that doesn't seem to match any ULS log entries. (Yes, I merged logs from all machines in the farm.)
A Windows event log entry says:
A failure was reported when trying to invoke a service application: Endpoint Failure
Also frequent errors in ULS logs: (see below)
UserProfileApplicationNotAvailableException
User Profile Application Proxy failed to retrieve partitions from User Profile Application: Micro…
SPDistributedCache DataCacheException
I did notice that the file 'ProfileService.svc does not exist in SharePoint's web services app at the URL you see in the error. (below)
I also found it interesting that the event log error shows 1 active endpoint and 3 failed endpoints. I have 2 WFEs and 2 app servers. But I'm only trying to get the user profile service app running on the application
servers. I have deleted and recreated this service app several times under various names (deleted/recreated its app pool as well) and wonder if these other failed endpoints could be orphans from previous instances...
Any thoughts on how I might successfully create this service application? I've already been Binging my head against a wall long enough that I would have been better off reinstalling the entire farm... I may still
do that.
FYI, my farm came from a slipstreamed SP1 install package, and received the July CU after several other things were already configured, including the already-failed UP service application.

Abhishek MadanHi Abhishek,
According to your description, my understanding is that the User Profile Synchronization service stuck on ‘Starting’ or ‘Stopping’.
Please check whether you installed SQL 2012 Native Client (Pre-requisites) on SharePoint server. If yes, download and install SQL 2008 R2 Native Client from the below location:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/1/3/9138773A-505D-43E2-AC08-9A77E1E0490B/1033/x64/sqlncli.msi
From the SharePoint server ->control panel -> add/Remove programs , please confirm that the SQL 2008 Native Client is listed.
Make sure that the farm account is a member of the Administrators group on the server on which you are trying to start the User Profile Synchronization service, then restart the SharePoint Timer Service.
Set the FIM services to "Local System" before starting the service.
There is a troubleshooting for User Profile Synchronization Service start issues, please have a look at:

Setting Users for my managed services and application pools
I setup my SharePoint 2013 test environment and I developed an intranet site. Now inside my test environment I set all the application pool & managed services to use Farm user account for simplicity. Now I want to setup my UAT environment and I want
to follow the best practice for managing users and service accounts.
I have read the “Core Solutions Of MS SharePoint 2013” book, and it have listed the following table:-
First question. What is the difference when saying that the user “Must be a member of the Farm Administrators group” Or must be “Domain user account”?
Second question , when I first install SharePoint 2013 a lot of applications pools and managed services such as excel services , access services, Performance Point Service Application, business
data connectivity and Machine Translation Service will be automatically created , so which account they will be using and should I define separate accounts for each managed service ?
Third question. What is the recommendation for SharePoint 2013 regarding service accounts?, to use separate account for each manage service, for example one user for excel services , second user
for access services ,etc?
Fourth question. For example the documentation mentioned that the Required roles for the excel services is “Domain user account.”, but what permissions this domain user need to have ?
thanks for any help, and sorry so adding multiple questions inside the same post.Q #1: This means the user must be part of the Farm Admins group. Every user is a Domain User.
Q #2: Generally those should be using a single Domain User account in a single Application Pool to minimize memory usage and reduce unnecessary complexity.
Q #3: The less Application Pools the better. E.g. One account/App Pool for all Web Applications, one account/App Pool for all Service Applications, and then Central Administration is obviously separate.
Q #4: You don't need to specifically give this type of user any sort of rights
