User Message event firing

I'm not sure of the best way to program what I have in my head.
If I send a UI Message >10000 then the User Message event is going to fire for any and all of those messages.  This isn't much of a problem if it is a single callback VI that has a case structure to handle the different event numbers.  This is what some of the examples are showing in the Developer Zone.  My problem is that I will have several different VIs that will be handling User Messages.  If I want to keep the same Reg Event Callback structure is the only real way to do this with different VIs is to register multiple callback VIs to the same event and just have each VI only respond to the event number that it is interested in?  It seems to be a bit of a waste of CPU cycles if I have 5 different callback VIs and and 4 of them will get pinged on every event but not actually do anything.  I'm not going to be firing these messages too rapidly (~0.5-1s) but I can just envision one of my other programmers running a little wild with this concept and then we eventually find out that LabVIEW starts to get finnicky having 20 different VIs registered to the same event even if only 1 of them will do anything for any given firing of the User Message.

Hi,
You might call the AEs about registering multiple VIs. I don't know if that is possible. I've never seen it.
What is the problem with a single callback VI that has a case structure to handle the different event numbers? Can't you paste your several different VIs into the case structure? Do you have to process your events in parallel, are they overlapping, or can you process them all serially? That's the only reason I can think of to not use the case structure.
You can use the single callback VI case structure to convert the TestStand User Events to LabVIEW Dynamic Events and pass them to the LabVIEW Event structure that the Exit Event is in. And then put your VIs in the Event structure. Basically what that does is make the single callback VI a router that forwards the event messages to another handler.

  • How to access new data in User Message Event Callback?

    I am using the Simple LabVIEW OI as the model for my TestStand user interface.
    The sequence sends a User Message to the OI to request the string array of tests to run.
    But I am having great difficulty making this string array data available to the event callback VI.
    I do not want to use a global variable and so my unsuccessful method so far has been as follows:
    1. Use a Refnum to the Array and pass it into the Config Event Callbacks VI via the cluster
    2. The "Selected Tests" in the input cluster in the Config Event Callbacks VI is a generic Control Refnum
    3. This Selected Tests (at the bottom) is then bundled and passed into the User Parameter
    4. But how do I convert the Selected Tests Control refnum back into the original string array in the actual callback?
    Also if there is anyone that can suggest a better way of doing this then please let me know.
    The bottom line is - how to get the latest data into the event callback function when it is called?
    Many thanks,
    Ronnie

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Ray,
    The 'Selected Tests' array refnum is #4 in the cluster order and matches all the way through - so I think that's OK.
    In the final diagram above, I can get the Selected Tests cluster from the 'User Parameter', but it is still in the form of a refnum.
    My problem is a lack of understanding in how to convert this 'Selected Tests' refnum back to the original data type (a string array).
    Basically I want to get the string array from the 'Selected Tests' refnum.
    As you can see from above I tried to use a property node. I've also tried to 'cast' the refnum to a 'more specific class' by choosing 'Array' but it's still ends up as a refnum.
    I hope you see what I mean?
    Thanks,
    Ronnie

    Absolutely not, I wouldn't post such a large amount of code expecting people to read it. I indicated that I believe my error only lies within one of two classes, and that I highlighted the two methods with comments.
    I was told to create an SSCCE as you have mentioned, but I believe all of this code is necessary for the program to run properly, so I only provided it all for compilation purposes.
    I'll check the examples posted, and if I need to I'll see if I can change my methods to use the swing timer class as the first reply mentions, but I did not think this would be necessary.

    I have just figured out what my problem was, sorry it was quite a simple mistake. When checking for user input, I was immediately resetting the eventFlag or something afterwards. This meant the object would stop moving as it couldn't remember my last keypress. Thanks for your help, those tutorials are really good.

    U can have button on application toolbar.
    You just have to use the new pf status in your report program.
    You should copy the 'STANDARD' GUI status from program SAPLKKBL using transaction SE90 >Programming SubObjects> Gui Status.
    Execute this transaction to get to next screen. select status using checkbox. click on GUI Status --> Copy.
    Enter your Z program name and the name you what for this status - you can keep it as 'STANDARD' to be simple.
    Then you can edit the new status to add or delete buttons. This will also bring in the standard SAP ALV functionality.
    Have a look at below code for using the new status.

  • BPM 11g - Human task not removed when interrupting boundary event fired

    In BPM 11g (11.1.1.1.3), I am testing a message catch event on the boundary of a human task. It is set for interrupting, so it should, when the event fires, remove the human task from the work list and follow the flow out of the event. The event flow is being followed, but the human task is being left active in the user's work list. I would expect the human task to be removed when the interrupting boundary message event occurs.
    I think this is a bug, but would welcome any suggestions on how to solve it. Does anyone know if this works in the latest release (11.1.1.1.4)? We might upgrade pretty soon. Has anyone else tried boundary message events and gotten them to work properly in BPM 11g?
    Just FYI....in order to make the BPM message event occur and provide instance correlation, we had to add a mediator and BPEL correlation. We followed process documented in a previous post to do this (http://blog.andrade.inf.br/2011/01/implementing-correlation-in-bpm-11gr1.html). Thanks to whomever posted that...it got us a few steps further along!

    I do not think this is bug based on
    Oracle® Fusion Middleware Modeling and Implementation Guide for Oracle Business Process Management
    23.1.1 Understanding the Relationship Between SOA Composites and SOA Components
    "In a similar way, when an interrupting timer or message boundary event arrives to a user task, the BPMN process instance leaves the user task but the associated Human Task remains available. Because the interrupting timer or message boundary event arrived before the user completes the user task, the human task remains unfinished, and you can still access it thought the Worklist application. However running that human task does not have any effect on the BPMN process."
    This also gives us big trouble. I am looking for the solution.

    I want to execute specific code when the form is first time shown

    User will edit/delete/update data with various button clicks.
    I tried activate event on end component but it seems that it wont get
    fired at all. End components are enclosed in BorderContainer or Group.
    To test activate event I have used Alert.show only but popup is not shown
    when I select link button on penutimate linkbar.
    If I am doing something wrong please let me know as well please
    guide me which event shall I use so that whenever linkbutton is
    pressed on linkbar it will fire that event. In that event I can check
    whether it has been called earlier by checking some variable which
    will be null in creation complete and set in event fired when linkbutton is pressed.
    Thanks and regards

    I think 'creationComplete' is the closest event to what you are looking for.

  • First event fired to event structure

    Hi all,
       Does anyone know what's the first event being fired to the event structure on VI startup? I set a breakpoint on the event structure and it breaks. However i wasn't able to capture whats the event.
    My intention was simple; i have a table which list all the IO names and values. So during VI startup, i wan to populate the IO names first. Then in a timed-loop, the values are updated respectively. In this case, i don't need to "refresh" the table every time which waste time and resources.
    It something like the OnLoad event.
    Another way out is to register an user event, and have this event fired during application startup. But i wonder if anyone has a better way?
    Many thanks!

    Why don't you show us some code.
    Are the IO name static for the duration of the program? Are you using a regular table column or the "row header strings []" property for the IO names?
    If you want to write the row headers at the start of the program, place the code before the main loop containing the event structure. No event case needed. If you have a specific event to update the table headers if needed, fire the event once at startup using a signaling value property, again with the property node placed before the main loop.

  • Oracle.apps.wf.notification.receive.message event subscription

    Hi,
    I have created a custom test subscription for the above event.I have simply created a rule function which inserts values in a custom table to show that the event is being fired.
    I tested from workflow responsibility, and yes, event is being captured and values are being inserted in the custom table. Means, from test subscription, its working.
    However, now I am trying to respond an notification from email(actual testing of the event). The notificatoin gets processed, but my function is not being called. In other words, possibly my event subscription is not being fired, seeded one is working though.
    I checked WF_NOTIFICATION_IN table. The email responses are received here and their state also shows from 0 to 2 changing. Also, the DEQ_TIME column also has values.
    So the question is how to know why my subscription is not being fired?
    Thanks,
    Abdul Wahid

    One Update.
    I tried to fire some different event and registered this function with that.
    Its working with this event.
    Does that mean that oracle.apps.wf.notification.receive.message event is not being fired?

  • QT in html, events fired and movie internals doc

    Hi,
    The Javascript Scripting Guide says under "Executing JavaScript Functions From QuickTime", page 11:
    Wired actions can be triggered by user interaction, as a result of a frame in the movie being displayed, or as the
    result of arbitrary wired calculations.
    It also briefly describes (page 23) the matrix and rectangle properties, saying "You can use a movie’s transformation matrix to scale, translate, and rotate the movie image. For details on the transformation matrix, see Movie Internals."
    And the Rectangle is defined as "void SetRectangle(string rect)"
    Where can I find the reference to the events fired by QT automatically ?
    Where can I find this Movie Internals description ?
    I'm not very familiar with javascript... That's not a QT issue, but where can I find a description of the rect ?
    Many thanks

    Yes, you can navigate to other pages using buttons/code in an swf file.  And you can trigger an event as well, though I don't know if that's what you intended to say if navigating to another page is what you are really after.
    In AS3, to make a button work with code, you need to add an event listener and event handler function for it.  You might need to add a few (for different events, like rollover, rollout, clicking it, but for now we'll just say you want to be able to click it to get a web page to open.  In the timeline that holds that button, in a separate actions layer that you create, in a frame numbered the same as where that button exists, you would add the event listener:
    btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btn1Click);
    The name of the unique function for processing the clicking of that button is specified at the end of the event listener assignment, so now you just have to write that function out:
    function btn1Click(evt:MouseEvent):void {
       var url:String = "http://www.awebsite.com/awebpage.html";
       var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url);
       navigateToURL(req);

    ALTER USER를 실행한 사용자를 확인하는 방법(SYSTEM EVENT TRIGGER)
    ================================================================
    PURPOSE
    자신이나 또는 다른 user들의 password를 바꾸는 등의 alter user command를
    사용한 사용자를 확인하는 방법을 알아보자.
    Explanation & Example
    1. 사용자 정보를 저장할 event table을 생성한다.
    Create event table and users to store the alterations made:
    SQL> connect / as sysdba;
    create table event_table
    ora_sysevent varchar2(20),
    ora_login_user varchar2(30),
    ora_instance_num number,
    ora_database_name varchar2(50),
    ora_dict_obj_name varchar2(30),
    ora_dict_obj_type varchar2(20),
    ora_dict_obj_owner varchar2(30),
    timestamp date
    create user test1 identified by test1;
    grant create session, alter user to test1;
    create user test2 identified by test2;
    grant create session to test2;
    2. SYS user에서 AFTER ALTER Client Event Trigger 를 생성한다.
    Note: This step creates a trigger and it is fired whenever the user "test1"
    issues ALTER command (It can be ALTER USER or ALTER TABLE)
    SQL> CREATE or REPLACE TRIGGER after_alter AFTER ALTER on database
    BEGIN
    IF (ora_dict_obj_type='USER') THEN
    insert into event_table
    values (ora_sysevent,
    ora_login_user,
    ora_instance_num,
    ora_database_name,
    ora_dict_obj_name,
    ora_dict_obj_type,
    ora_dict_obj_owner,
    sysdate);
    END IF;
    END;
    3. test1 user로 접속한 후 test2 user의 password를 변경하는 작업을 실행한다.
    SQL> connect test1/test1
    SQL> alter user test2 identified by foo;
    4. test2 user의 password가 test1 user에 의해 변경되면 그런 내용을
    event_table 에서 확인할 수 있다.
    Now that we have altered the "test2" user password from user "test1", the
    event_table should have captured this details.
    Now Login in as sys and Query on event_table:
    SQL> connect / as sysdba;
    SQL> select * from event_table;
    ORA_SYSEVENT ORA_LOGIN_USER ORA_INSTANCE_NUM
    ORA_DATABASE_NAME
    ORA_DICT_OBJ_NAME ORA_DICT_OBJ_TYPE
    ORA_DICT_OBJ_OWNER TIMESTAMP
    ALTER TEST1 1
    T901.IDC.ORACLE.COM
    TEST2 USER
    13-JUN-02
    event_table의 내용을 조회하여 LOGIN_USER와 ALTERED USER 는
    ORA_LOGIN_USER와 ORA_DICT_OBJ_NAME column을 통해 확인할 수 있다.
    비슷한 방법으로 아래의 event에서 trigger를 생성하여 확인할 수 있다.

  • Event firing multiple times (et_Got_Focus)

    Hi,
    I just noticed while debugging my Add On code that the et_Got_Focus event which I have added to my event filters is triggered 64 times when I change a field value and then move to a different field.  This not only happens in the matrix when changing field values and tabbing through but also in the header fields.
    This has got to be a bug and it is not only slowing down the A/P Invoice form but it is potentially very dangerous to have an event firing 64 times when it should only be fired once.
    To test this all one needs to do is add the et_Got_Focus event to the event filter with the A/P Invoice form, then add a debug statement to write out the itemvalue properties and you will see once you edit a value and tab you will get 64 statements that are the et_Got_Focus event, BeforeAction false for the same field or column when it should only occur once.
    I have a very digrunted client that is very frustrated due to the amount this slows down data entry in the A/P Invoice.  I cannot get rid of this event because there is a particular field I am monitoring for the got focus event so I can stop it under certain circumstances.
    If anyone else has experienced this or knows how to resolve this please let me know.  I guess if I don't find out why this is happening I will post a CSN to SAP.
    Thanks very much,

    I have created two bundles that run on User Login and User Logout events. The login one works fine, and so does the logout one but at the incorrect time. On average the logout event bundle is fired about 40-60 seconds after login, whilst still logged in.
    I tried modifying the bundle to trigger on Zen Logout instead but the same thing happens.
    I have another two similar bundles that do the same, but for Administrator accounts rather than DLU+roaming profile accounts. The logout event also triggers while the user is still logged in.
    On both user types when I actually logout no further triggering of the bundle takes place.
    Can something else trigger this event other than a desktop logout? This is using ZCM client 11.0.0.41501.

    My guess is that it tries to run at logout, but cannot complete and then
    finishes at logon.
    Simply put, Setting an action at logout is rarely a good option since
    ZCM cannot control the logout/shutdown process.
    Anything with such a setting needs to be able to complete almost
    instantaneously.

  • RE: (forte-users) Posted Event Not Seen by EventLoop

    Hi,
    Event registration occurs when an event loop is activated. If your event
    loop is activated before your SO is ready and registered (Init must be
    finished) the event loop will be not registered for the event on your SO.
    This is a typical example of race condition. A race condition may occur when
    two or more processes execute simultaneously and the final result depends on
    which process finishes first. Please redesign your project.

    I have two classes & an SO in a given project.
    ManagerClass : object
    InterfaceClass : object
    ManagerSO : ManagerClass
    ManagerClass has the attribute
    theInterfaceClass : InterfaceClass
    InterfaceClass has the attribute
    theManagerClass : Manager Class
    The ManagerClass Init method performs a new on
    theInterfaceClass and then does a start task on a
    method within theInterfaceClass which starts an
    external connection listening on a port.
    The method also sets theInterfaceClass.theManagerClass
    to ManagerSO.
    A method gets called in the ManagerClass which writes
    to the external connection port within the
    theInterfaceClass and then starts an event loop in the
    ManagerClass to wait for notification.
    When the started task for listening on the external
    connection receives data, it calls a method within the
    ClassManager - theClassManager.CallMethod(returndata);
    The CallMethod actually posts an event within the
    ClassManager which the event loop started earlier is
    waiting on.
    The event does get posted, however, the event loop
    that was started never receives the event?!?!?
    There are no lower level event loops that
    should trap this event prior to this point.
    The call to perform the "write" on the external
    connection is done as a postregister in the event
    loop, so that the event is registered before a post
    for the event occurs.
    Am I missing something here?
    Thanks in advance for any light you might shed.

    Check if ManagerSO = ManagerSO.theInterfaceClass.theManagerClass
    Why does InterfaceClass call a methon the the SO? Why doesn't it simply post
    its own event, that the SO is registered for?

    Very curious to see answers to this post — I'm not getting a 'qt_ended' event in either Safari or Firefox (3.5.2). Nor were some of the other events firing (qt_timechanged comes to mind). Have noticed numerous messages on boards regarding troubles with the QT events, so I may just keep using my workarounds -- setInterval() monitoring loops.
