how can we find the simple information about :
for example a user scott has privilege to connect schema (like create session privilege he has) ...
like that i want know how many schema's connect privilege he has .... in wiich data dictionary we get this information and what is query ....
how to get this information ??????

In general, you would do something like
CREATE ROLE abc_read_only;
FOR x IN (SELECT * FROM dba_tables WHERE owner='ABC')
LOOP
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'GRANT SELECT ON abc.' || x.table_name || ' TO abc_read_only';
END LOOP;
CREATE USER your_user ...;
GRANT abc_read_only TO your_userYou create a role, grant the role SELECT access to all the tables in the ABC schema (you can extend this to grant access to views, functions, etc depending on the requirements), and then grant that role to your user.

User has no privileges on the schema when entering SQL Workshop

I installed Oracle Apex 4.0 and created a workspace in a new schema called APEX_TEST. Later on I reassigned the workspace to the existing schema TEST and then when an admin or developer user clicks on the SQL Workshop button this error appears :
Help
ORA-20000: User FARS has no privileges on the APEX_TEST schema.
The user still has access to the object browser or SQL Commands pages but there are no object or SQL result showing.
Did I forget to give a privilege from TEST to APEX ? If I can't resolve the issue I can create another workspace this is only a testing workspace.

I tried to match the APEX user default schema with the workspace new schema and still had the same error. The error appears even if I give access on multiple workspace to the user.
If I change them both to the APEX_TEST it works but the user cannot access the objects in the TEST schema without synonyms.
The best thing to do would be to create a new schema and start over again ou export/import the applications.

How to find the export schema's user privileges in originating database?

If you have acces to the database where export has been taken, you can use dba_user_privs view to find out.
Else, use imp with indexfile option to write the imp output to the file and look for it.

How a normal designer user gain RAU access privilege

Hi,
We have installed Oracle 9i Designer in our setup.Today we got a requirement that a normal Designer user wants to access Repository Admin Utility(RAU)(Normaly a repository owner alone have the permission to get into RAU).
What is the procedure to be followed to provide RAU access privilege while login in to Oracle 9i Designer as a Normal Designer user.
Help me to solve this call.

Why does a normal user require RAU permission? I think this is a dangerous thing to do. Unless you trust this person not to trash your repository (accidently or otherwise), in which case just give them the existing RAU password.
But I think you would be better off finding out what it is they want to do that requires administrator privileges and doing it yourself. In my experience it is quite easy enough to shag a designer repository when we know what we are supposed to be doing without allowing normal users to have RAU access as well.

I create a user in a Database using SQL developer,
so it is a Database User.
Now I want to give this user access to some table in
read , write mode and just let it to read some other

how i can do this ? SQL*Developer currently doesn't support security admininstration through the GUI, but you can use sqlworksheet to issue grant statements.

A schema is the collection of objects owned by a user. A user can exist without owning any objects.
If you are using XE, you might be better off using the XE GUI to manage this.

Hi, is it possible in oracle to create a new user having same access as that of SYSTEM user?

If not i would like to create a user having most of admin rights likes exporting and importing schemas and all.

How to find from the data dict if a user has read access on a directory

How to find "dynamically" if a user has READ access to a directory object.
I want to know if there is a data dictionary table that holds if a user/schema has read access to a directory object.
I know there is an dba_directories table and an all_directories table but they dont give information as to which user has read access granted to the directory.

Not so difficult.

How to set the user who can access to repository

I know we can create user and group in the tools->security.And if this users is belong to Administrators Group, it can access to RPD and do some modify..
Can we create group or user who can access RPD in some situation(like mentioned in HELP, A can access to repository on Mondays and Wednesdays, B can access to repository on Saturdays and Sundays) and how to set the privilege..

The example specified in Help is about restricting query execution on weekdays/weekends for a particular webgroup. Inorder to configure such access ,
Double click on the web group name -> Query Limits tab ->Click on Restrict button provided against the physical connection pool ->Select Allow/Disallow by selecting a particular time period.

Need help in giving user privileges

I have give a privileges drop any table,update any table,alter any table to the user HP_RMAN and when i checked it properly the user HP_RMAN is able to drop the system objects also.
SQL> conn system/gamesas;
Connected.
SQL> create table vik (name varchar2(10));
Table created.
SQL> conn hp_rman/pepsi01234;
Connected.
SQL> drop table system.vik;
Table dropped.
The hp_rman user is having the privilege like drop any table,update any table and alter any table and i need those privilege to the user hp_rman and it should not delete the system objects is there any way to set the privileges not to drop the system objects.

Ensure that users with the SELECT ANY TABLE privilege cannot access the tables that underlie the data dictionary by setting O7_DICTIONARY_ACCESSIBILITY = FALSE. This is the default setting

LDAP User Privileges

Dears,
wanna do integration CUCM 9.1 with Active Directory and what i know that the user should have "Read" Only privileges to do the integration
BUT:
1- I tried to do it with user has only Read privilges i got error login failure to ldap
2- I change the user privilege to be Admin then i could integrate with call manager
CUCM 9,1 Administration Documents Says:
LDAP Manager Distinguished Name
Enter the user ID (up to 128 characters) of the LDAP Manager, who is an administrative user that has access rights to the LDAP directory in question.

What exactly the right privileges for the user ??

Can you provide the distinguished user string and the search base string? Perhaps the user is outside of the search base hence requires admin rights to read it.

Hello, I need help! I'm now creating a system based in Java which I need to create a user privilege for security purposes. I need to create 3 kinds of users, 1st is the administrator and the 2nd is a viewer access which can only view the software but can't edit anything and the last 1 is the encoder view. Please help!!! java programs can not run without a jvm. there may be some compiliers that can compile down to native code but i haven't heard of any good ones. your best bet is to download installanywhere, there is a freeware version, and it will wrap up your program along with a jvm and generate an .exe file. Keep in mind that the exe that it generates just starts up the jvm and your program but it will appear to be like any exe.

Impossible to set up a TC with admin and users privileges

Sorry for my english first. I'm not an english speaker...
That's one week I'm playing with my Tc to try to set it up with admin and users privileges and and doesn't succeed to find a good way to do it....
What I want to do: set up my Tc so that I'm an admin and can do whatever I want in the folders of each user. I want the user to have access to one folder with their name. Let's say I would like to user my TC like a usual network drive or NAS.
What I discover: if I enable file sharing with accounts on my TC and define two users user1 and user2 with Read write privileges, user1 can see a folder user1 and put whatever he wants in it and there's a share folder for user1 and user2. BUT I cannot be admin on the TC when account filesharing is on. It means I cannot put anything in user1 folder beacuse I don't see user1 folder. It is just like if you have user accounts on TC you can just change the privileges but not defined an administrator. I'm able to see user1 folder for instance solely changing the filesharing back to secure shared disks "with time capsule password". If i do so I can see all the folders on the TC.
But it's very annoying because it means that each time I want to put a file inside the folder of one of my user, I have to restart my TC "with time capsule password", put the file, set it up back to user account and restart again the TC.... Not really practical!
Anyone got an idea how to use the Tc with user accounts (one admin and others users...)

I forgot to mention that I tried also another method: giving guest access to TC to my two users but there are several problems here: first they can only read (if not they would have the same privileges as me) what means they can put any document in the TC. Second, they see all the folders on the TC and the idea is that they can only see the shared one....

I'm using a Windows 8 laptop and I updated my iphone 4s software to IOS7 and of course my itunes needs updating, but when I go to update it is in vain because it comes up with the message that the installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory C:/Program Files(x86)/iTunes/iTunes.Resources/nb.Iproj.
and the installation cannot continue. I have tried changing the security permissions on this file which doesn't let me as it asks that I need Read Permissions etc...
Has anyone encountered this issue, I've looked online but nothing helps for my situation

If you can't delete the .lproj folders try renaming them or deleting/renaming a parent folder, i.e. \iTunes\iTunes.Resources or \iTunes.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
