User registration and editing posts

Hi everyone,
I have a site that people can register on and post there information.
I am using php and mysql.
I want people to be able to EDIT their information they posted but ONLY their information, noone elses.
the user registration works great and they are able to add their information.
Basically this is for a car club site, and car clubs can register and post their city state, chapter, and web address etc.
but alot of the people are messing up when they try to post their info and I am not sure how to give the poster the ability to edit their OWN information, if someone could help me out with this or point me in the right direction that would be great!

Notifications and Edited posts.

Would anyone know how edits of posts relate to notifications?
I have known times when I have written a post, then ten minutes later had to edit it as new information had come to light. The original post would be notified to the poster (presuming the service has been requested). But at what point does the edit take effect and is it seperately notified? e.g. My notifications are accompanied by a submarine sound so if someone edited a post I had interest in, would I hear a second submarine sound to alert me to the edit?
Perhaps the hosts will advise ... in any event grateful thanks to all who respond.

I've managed to resist the urge so far... (In that post, but not in this one!)
Actually for stuff like this it doesn't really matter, but when I've constructed a complicated list of tailored instructions for fixing a specific problem, then spot an error and correct it, there is always the nagging doubt that the other party might work from the email rather than the corrected post online.

Error Message, user exits, and editing disabled problem.

HEllo I recently had an assignment where I have to create a user exit with an error message. I had no problems with the error message but after an error occurs, with this line:
<b> MESSAGE ID 'ZSD' TYPE 'W' NUMBER '002'.</b>
the fields have become disabled and there seems to be no way to enable the fields for changing. Is there a way to fix this. Thanks people and take care!

Oh, TYPE E, when issuing an error message, all fields are disabled unless you tie it to a field or group of fields. This is commonly done by using the CHAIN...ENDCHAIN statements in the PAI of the screen. Do you have access to this? I assume that you are issueing the message from within a MODULE, right? You are probably calling this module in the PAI flow logic of the screen. You will need to do something like this.
Here P_BUKRS is the screen field and CHECK_BUKRS is the module where you are checking the value and issuing the error message. Using the CHAIN, you can tie other fields to the check so that they are also enabled when the error message is issued.
CHAIN.

ENDCHAIN.

Setup user registration/email confirmation/login/captcha ?

I'd like to setup an application to allow users to submit poll questions and then vote yes/no.
Is there a sample app available that shows how to setup a new user registration, email confirmation, and login, preferably using captchas (maybe using recaptcha.net) ?
I'd like something similar to the average forum/blog registration.

it has user-registration and the possibility to do polls (among other functionalities).

I am having some problems....... any help would be nice
I am using DWCS3 and ADDT toolbox extension wamp and phpmyadmin
I am trying to create a site for people to be able to post a profile with a picture and info and display it in a dynamic table.
I can create the form, a database and display the data on another page in a dynamic table all ok..... kind of.
I can create a user registration system with ADDT.
I can redirect them after registration to a post profile page, which has a form to upload details. I can then display those details on a user info page.
I would like to allow logged in users to be able to click on a link to their own profile page , which would show the same form that was filled out in the post profile page, but would be already populated with their previously entered information. I would like users to be able to edit the content of the form and update the information in the database and automatically delete delete any previously entered information ( only in the fields that have been edited)
How do I go about doing this?.... step by step?
I want to allow logged in user to view their own profile not every bodies.... how do I do that?
I have read on another post that to do something similar to this I should filter my database information using a session varialble MM_username that I think is created automatically after user logs in .... but I don;t know how to do this.... I really don;t understand is this the way I link my user to a page that only displays their info ? or is there another way?
I would also like to allow only people who have posted a profile to be able to edit profile ...... do I do that by
1. new user registers and is redirected to login page
2. user logs in and is redirected to an index page that has a post profile button and a edit profile button but only the POST button is active ( and links to a form to post info ) and the edit profile button is linked to a " You must post a profile first" page ( with a link back)
3 so user posts profile and is directed to an index page which has an edit profile button which is now linked to an edit profile page
Does that sound correct?

I have created the users page which submits to a members page and tell the user to edit biodata, profession, and hobbies. but on clicking I am really confused on how the id will be transfered from the members page to update biodata and the user updates the form which will show past records. this should also apply to the profession and hobbies
If I understand this right, you might want to consider providing a complete "userdata" section which comes with a Dynamic List and a Dynamic Form to have users add & update their data plus (via the Dynamic List) track all past records
Lastly is it possible I create recordset at will and the id will be passed thru since kt-login-id behaves sololy
I really can´t recommend this "pass user_id as URL variable" approach in this case, as URL variables are displayed in the browser´s address bar -- and this is absolutely insecure, because anyone could simply change the displayed "user_id" value, reload the form and hence edit data which belongs to a different user.
The only secure method is indeed to use ADDT´s session variable kt_login_id

Multiple users access one iPhoto library and view and edit

I have 3 Macs and 5 users in our family. I'd like to have one iPhoto library that any user can access from any of the machines and view and/or edit. I don't need simultaneous access (which from reading posts I can see is not possible in iPhoto).
If I move the library to external HD will I be able to access the libary from each Mac over Wi-Fi? From what I read I'd need to hold ALT when opening iPhoto in each user account, on each Mac, and choose the library on the external drive.
If I set it up like this then once photos imported any user can see them, and edit if they want to? Presumably any Projects would be in the one central library rather tan being specific to a particular user?

Yes and no
the hard drive that the iPhoto sits on must be formatted Mac OS extended (jorunaled)
iPhoto is not a multi user program and if two different people edit atthe same time it will not wrok correctly
Most importantly WiFi is not a reliable connection and has many dropouts - if you edit over WiFi you are highly likely to lose data and corrupt yoru library - it is not a good idea - viewing is slow but will work

How do you post on the forum and edit the wiki?

I'm interested in efficient ways of posting and editing the wiki. Do you know / use any?
I'm currently using firefox + pentadactyl. Pressing Ctrl+i in a text area opens vim

... OK I'm done looking it up; here is one:

The first one's basic; surrounds the target with code tags with the "c" replacement.
This will prompt for URL and surround the target with proper URL bbcode if you use the "u" replacement.
Combine such rules with autocmd and some bbcode syntax highlighting, it would make life easier with bbcode.
Note I've used '<>' instead of '[]' to not confuse bbcode.
As for the topic question, I use Firefox with pentadactyl in a tabbed container in i3. When I press Ctrl-i in a textarea, a VIM editor opens in a new i3 tab, at full size. This makes editing focused. When I need to look at the original web page, I just switch to the previous i3 tab and take a peek.

Error when trying to add and edit users in Server 4.0

I am having a strange problem with my OS X Server 4.0 Users section. I try to add a local network user but it automatically adds as a local user. Also, when I try to edit the User account (add to a group), I get the error, "The operation could not be completed. com.apple.Server.Accounts Error 2." Can anyone help and tell me what this means? As well, I can not edit any of my local network users, as I get greyed out buttons everywhere. I am definitely logged in as an administrator and I'm pretty sure my DNS records are accurate.
Edit- Fixed! Turns out I had 2 users using the same Full Name, one as a local user (admin) and one that is a local network user. I ended up using the local network user one!

I thought it might be because I'm connected to an Active Directory, but the problem seems more fundamental.

Any help would be appreciated.Credit card processing is broken into industry types, so you can further refine your search using that. You will probably be looking at 'ecommerce'. There are other types though.

Share excel 2007 with more that one users and edit at the same time

You can create a shared workbook and place it on a network location where several people can edit the contents simultaneously
Just go to the Review tab, in the Changes group, click
Share Workbook.
However, not all features and functionalities are supported in a shared workbook. Please review this article for more details:

If you mean saving the project files; iCloud, Dropbox, Skydrive will do this.
If you mean the application, then definitely not possible.

Share and edit notes with other users

Can I share and edit notes with other users in a standard app, e.g. notes, the same way I share my calender?

Sharing of notes will require you to also share contacts, calendars and reminders (in other words, you will be sharing all data).
For a "shopping list", I would recommend you share a reminders list. It is similar to sharing a calendar, but it would keep your contacts and other data separate. Just my opinion.

Managing Users - Editing a User Name and Email?

Hello!
I have absolutely no experience using the Windows Small Business Server 2003. Our IT person showed me how to add Users and this is bascially the only task I perform with regard to the server.
I recently added a new User and accidentally misspelled his name. I went back in and edited the User file to correct the name and I was able to send a test email to him and receive a response from him - however, the response came in with the sender's
name still misspelled. I went back in to the User file and found that the alias still showed the misspelled name. I corrected the error there but now the User is not able to send or receive email.
To to clarify:
1. I entered the User name incorrectly - I typed the name ending in "ki" instead of "ik".
2. Went back in to the User file and changed the name and email address to reflect the correct spelling - [email protected]
3. Sent test email to User (ik at company dot com) and received a response from User but the response listed the sender as: "Employee Ki" - instead of "Employee Ik".
4. Discovered that alias was still showing "ki" - changed alias to correct spelling.
5. User is not able to send or receive email.
My questions are:
A. Did I do the right thing by simply trying to edit the file to correct the mistake? Or should I have deleted the User and started over?
B. If it is acceptable to simply edit the file, is there some other step I am missing or that still needs to be performed so the User can receive email?

I did go through and make the correction in every tab. (That was actually how I found out that I had missed the "alias").
This employee is mostly out in the field and will be sending and receiving email from his phone or ipad. He was able to send and receive email before I corrrected the "alias" - would changing this cause him to lose the ability to send and receive
email?
Also he left me a note that he is not able to log in under the company acount. When he attempts to log in, he is asked for the "exchange account".
I suspect that this may be more involved than just correcting the misspelling. I appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide.

From your description, you want to grant users the permission to manage mail contacts. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
Based on my knowledge, you need to add these users to Organization Management Role group and Recipient Management Role group.
