Users and pw's from NT

Can portal take users and passwords from NT session? i can even use only NT user if it is possible.
How can i do that?

I've run into this issue as well. My client was using the Snow Leopard Apple Server on a Mac Mini. We checked the UPS units and they were solid with voltage regulation in place, but users and groups were randomly missing. We would re-add them and others would go missing.
We upgraded to Lion and Lion Server, but the problem persists. I've run disk permissions on the internal raid, which was a bit of an exercise in itself since Disk Utility is broken on the Mac Mini with a raid drive, but terminal was able to fix any issues. So far it seems to be working, but the problem seems random.
What's surprising is I have found next to no other reports of a similar issue. At this point, it appears to be a hardware failure of some sort. There doesn't seem to be a software answer if the disk permissions fix doesn't help it. I'm sitting on pins and needles at this point hoping this works.
Did the repair permissions fix your problem, Chris?

Hi All:
We have an application with database Oracle 10g.
I want to add a new validation to restrict concurrent user and/or session from a client. (we have almost 60 client firms using the software to enter daily trasnactions).
All users from all clients are connecting to the database using a common functional ID.
What I did was:
1) Add a column 'user_logged_in' in the master table for client and update it as Y when user from that client logged on to the system,
2) Insert the application logon details (we can figure out the client details from this) into a global temp table,
3) Create a logoff trigger to update the 'user_logged_in'flag in client master table by using values from global temp table when session logged off and
4) Restrict the users from same client if the flag is 'Y'
But the problem in this case is logoff trigger will not be executed in case if the session got killed or terminated abnormally.
Is there any other good solution for this scenario?

Meaning - if that session goes down you have NO logon details since the data isn't persistent. Is that really useful?
There is nothing you can do to account for someone just pulling the plug on: the server, the network connection, the bridge, the router, etc. And if a user is connected, starts a long-running process and then gets disconnected the process is likely to keep running in the background until Oracle needs to talk to the user again and then realizes that they are gone.
Meanwhile the user is trying to logon again but can't because the system thinks they are already logged on.

Get user and Oranization Attributes from portal channels

I am trayin to retrieve some user and arganizational attributes from portal channels (2005Q1), but, with directive "<dtpc:getStringAttribute key="attribute"/>, i can not retrieve some importants attributes as "dn" and an custom attribute from the organization that contain user entry, for example, "orgIdSuscriptor".
i don't know how to retrieve in the same channel some attributes of user entry and some attributes from oraganization entry, any one know how?

How to get the user and groups information from http header

In my current scneario, we are using Siteminder for SSO setup.. And in this process, after authentication and authorization, they are going to append the user information and group information of the user into a HTTP header and it will be sent back to our presentation services.. We have to extract the user information and group information from the http header.
My HTTP header will look like as follows..

SM_USERDN CN=Firstname\, Lastname\, xyz, OU=GPO-Low Level Security,OU=Domain Users,OU=BU FDT,

People Picker can resolve users and security group from another domain but no validation for groups

Dear all,
Here is the scenario of our issue:
We are migrating from Domain A to Domain B and in Domain A we currently have a SharePoint 2013 on which we want to set permissions for users and groups that have already migrated to Domain B.
A bi-directional trust exist between the two domains and all applications relying on trust and resolving IDs from on domain to another are working fine (Windows RDS for instance)
The "bug" that we have is when using the PeoplePicker, it can resolve without any issue a user account in Domain A or B, and a security group (type global, I haven't tried local or universal yet) from domain A or B. But for the security groups
only (it works well for users), when I click on "Save" to validate the add of the group to the site permissions, I have the following error:
I have seen a lot of similar issues on the web but no answer so far that work :(

How to export a user and their schema from one 10g database to another?

I would like to export a user and their entire schema from one 10g database to another one. How do I do this?

If you want to export a user and the schema owned to the user, and import to the same user in a different database, or a different user in the same database, you can use the exp and imp commands as described in the Utilities manual.
These commands are very versatile and have a lot of options - well worth learning properly. To give you a simplistic shortcut, see below - I create a user 'test_move', create some objects in the schema, export, create a new user in the database 'new_move' and import.

There are many variations on the theme ...
You can simplify this. You can select tables individually. You can use a parameter file. You can transport all the constraints and data. You can skip the data and only move the definitions. You can get some help (imp/exp help=yes).
And, if it's all 10g, there is a new and improved facility called expdp/impdp (dp = data pump) which has a lot more capability as well, including direct transfer (no intermediate file) together with suspend/restart. Also documented in the Utilities manual.

Retrieving user and group information from LDAP using j_securrity_check

I am using j_security_check to authenticate users against LDAP. I have made all necessary configuration for the server to perform LDAP group search as well as mentioned in the WAS documentation of LDAP settings. Now, how can I retrieve the user and the user group info after the j_secuirty_check. Apart from the UserPrincipal object which I can get from the request which just has the user name, is there any other object which will give me the user and user group info by which I need to connect to LDAP using my java code to retrieve these informations?

my java code to retrieve these informations?Hmm, you don't need the user group info to connect to the LDAP server, right? You would need the user's Id (which you have) and password (which you don't). You could use the LDAP credentials and bind as that to look up the user info via the user id. Or if the server is set up to allow anonymous bind you could do it without credentials. But if all you want is group info then you should be able to call Security.getCurrentSubject().getPrincipals() to get the user principal as well as all groups (this is true in BEA WebLogic at least).

Importing user and group database from 2.6 to 4.0

I need to import the user and groups from version 2.6 ACS to version 4.0. The 2.6 online documentation talks of using the CSUtils to create a .txt back up of the users and group. But I cannot see how to import that into 4.0. Has anyone done this. Any info would be appreciated,

I looked at what I had imported using the instructions you had supplied me and it looked fine, all users and group, tacacs privelege levels had been imported. I modified a router on our network to point at the ACS 4.0. on testing it looks like the passwords hadn't been copied across successfully. Logins are failing with 'invalid CS password' in the failed authentication log. If I changed the password manually it was fine.
Have you seen that before?

User and Group Externalization from EAS console Fails!!

Hi All, I am trying to externalize users and groups from EAS and once its done, all the login Id's (including admin and essadmin) fail. We cant log in into the server anymore because the logins are disabled.
The shared services is running fine and is talking pretty well with Essbase, but the externalization thing is not working.
The Essbase is on Linux server and shared services is on windows server and all the products are 9.3.1.
If any one faced a similar problem or have any idea regarding this issue, please let me know ASAP and would highly appreciate that as we will have to move to production soon.

You might want to Try Re-run the Config utility from the Linux-Essbase server and Re-register the Essbase with HSS.
Start the Essbase in Foreground and check if it is running
Now log on to the EAS/AAS with default admin/password if you havent changed it :); add your Essbase server using the Super user/Owner of essbase i mean the id..if you are succesful; i would always create a Test user as before Externalisation i can create users at EAS/AAS and then using Admin id ; i will push the Users/groups to the HSS by Externalising.. let me know if that helped you. Can you share iCalander/Address Book with other users and restrict them from seeing certain entries?

I'm doing some research for my boss concerning iCloud. He would like to setup a way to syncronize iCalender and the Address Book between three users but keep his personal information private. For example, he wants to be able to update his calender from his phone about an upcoming meeting/project so that the three computers at work are all updated and see upcoming events. Same goes for the contacts. If he adds a new contact or if I add a new contact, for a client or whoever it may be, he wants it to sync up for everyone. At the same time, if he adds a personal event to iCal such as, "Dinner with the girlfriend" or something irrelevant to work, he doesn't employees to be able to see that. My first idea was to setup an iCloud account but I'm wondering if you can even restrict certain things within an account.
Anyone have any other ideas? They would be greatly appreciated.

iCloud appears to provide no Address Book sharing. You might be able to do this through Google, but it would be likely to be all contacts or none.
iCloud allows you to share calendars privately (editable if you wish) to other iCloud users or publicly (non-editable) to anyone - they would need a CalDAV client to read it, such as iCal or Google Calendars.
You share individual calendars, so private events should be in their own calendar which is not shared.

How to change default /Users and /Groups to different Volume?

Users are created in /Volumes/<boot>/Users and groups in /Volumes/<boot>/Groups.
We need these to be created on a different volume, eg., /Volumes/External/Users, and /Volumes/External/Groups.
Setup Assistant correctly put user Backups into */Volumes/External/Shared Items/Backups* and also correctly put web services on /Volumes/External/ServiceData -- we want to do the same for Groups and Users.
Groups are the most critical, as the group needs bulk storage. Users we could leave as is if it can't be done.
How can this be configured? We've read File Server Admin, Open Directory Admin, and Advanced Server admin from http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/resources/documentation.html without finding an answer.

1. Create new folders on the external volume to hold users and groups, but to prevent confusion name them something other than "Users" and "Groups". /Volumes/External/NetUsers and /Volumes/External/NetGroups would be reasonable choices.
2. Share both of these folders (in Server Admin -> server name in sidebar -> File Sharing -> Volumes & Browse modes -> select each folder -> click Share near the top right).
3. Enable both folders for automounting on clients (Server Admin -> server name in sidebar -> File Sharing -> Share Points-> select each folder -> Share Point tab under that -> Enable Automount option) with the default options (Directory: /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1, Protocol: AFP, Use for: User home folders and group folders). Be sure to click Save (not just OK in the dialog).
4. To migrate users, run Workgroup Manager, and change the home location for the users you want to move (select Accounts in the toolbar -> /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1 from the hidden pop-up menu under that -> User icon tab at the left -> select the user(s) you want to change -> Home tab on the right -> select the NetUsers option from the "Where" list). Then, for each user, run this command on the server: "sudo cp -Rp /Users/username /Volumes/External/NetUsers".
5. Similarly, move Group folders in WGM (Accounts -> /LDAP... -> Groups icon on left -> select groups to move -> Group Folder tab on right -> NetGroups in the list). Then, for each group, run "sudo cp -Rp /Groups/groupname /Volumes/External/NetGroups".
6. Test to make sure all is working before deleting the old user and group folders from /Users and /Groups (do NOT delete /Users and /Groups themselves, just the individual folders from under them).

What is the best practice to create IDM user and target accts via recon

usecase:
LDAP<--->idm---->AD.
User exists in LDAP. IDM and AD are empty. Need to create IDM user and AD acct from LDAP data.
I can recon against LDAP and create the IDM user. But I cannot create AD acct in the same recon process. What is the best practice to do the above.

i think you have to have a "Per-account Workflow" set which creates the user in AD.

Restore single user and schema

Hi,
We have a MaxDB 7.5 server. I would like to be able to restore a single user and associated schema from the nightly backup.
Does anyone know a way of doing this?

Nope, there is no function for that.
MaxDB does database backups and database restores.
Seen from the point of view that the whole database is a defined statement of 'truth' it does not even make sense to do "schema"-recoveries.
Anyhow, since very often different schemas are actually used to store different databases in them, there is of course an option for that.
Recover the backup to a second instance.
Export the schema you want.
Import the schema to the target database.
Export/Import can easily be done with the loadercli.
And, before I forget - MaxDB 7.5 is pretty much gone. MaxDB 7.6 and 7.7 are available for free download for a while now. So if you don't need AWE you may want to give these current versions a try.

Have you tried running Verify and/or Repair Disk?
Have you tried running Repair Permissions?
Do you have at least 15% free space available on your HD?
