Uses of REUSE_ALV_EVENTS_GET

In some report program after preparing field-catalog i've seen the use of REUSE_ALV_EVENTS_GET.
But i think for report display, field catalog preparation and alv display function module call is enough to get the output.
So what's the specific purpose of reuse_alv_events_get?
if we don't use it in our program, what happens?

we can use this function module while handling events like top-of-list, end-of-list, user-command like.....
to print data top of the list, end of the list and handling user action on list.
this function module Returns table of possible events for a list type.
This table can be passed to the ALV display module with the form name.
REUSE_ALV_EVENTS_GET.
This FM is used to get the default event table of the ALV LIST DISPLAY.
The  IN_EVENTS internal table is of TYPE SLIS_T_EVENT.  This table contains
all the events wrapped up in the ALV LIST or ALV GRID and consistsof two fields
NAME and FORM .The NAME corresponds to names of the events like TOP_OF_PAGE and END_OF_PAGE ,USER_COMMAND and FORM will contain the name of the FORM ROUTINE that will be called dynamically through callback mechanism when the particular event will fire and is initial for all events bt default and has to be filled for
events for which handling is required.

Here the FORM ROUTINE 'F3000_TOP_OF_PAGE' is being set up for the
event TOP_OF_PAGE which will fire when the ALV LIST will be displayed ,This form
will be called dynamically by th ALV LIST display during top_of_page event and for this the modified Events internal table has to be passed to the FM 'REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY' in the exporting parameter IT_EVENTS. Failing this the form '3000_TOP_OF_PAGE' will not be called . This event is used for placing heading information like Current date and time and the name of the report.

  • Editing a field in ALV and validating the newly entered Value

    Hi Experts,
       I have an ALV report in grid display (not object oriented). My requirement is to edit a field on the output and write the validations to validate the value that was edited on the ALV output.
    This can be done using object oriented coding by using the method check_changed_data. For this to happen, i need to change the entire scope of my report into object oriented, which is like reinventing the wheel.
    Since my report was developed using classical ABAP, what needs to be done to get this functionality. Any suggestions are welcome.

    in the FM 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY'  import parameter IS_LAYOUT check out the columsn EDIT and EDIT_COLUMN. Also Use FM 'REUSE_ALV_EVENTS_GET' to get list possible event and pass a subroutine name which will be called when ever event is fired.

    How do I display a blank line in ALV header
    For eg i want if i want the ALV header to display as follows

      Are you using 'REUSE_ALV_COMMENTARY_WRITE' for displaying the header?
    If yes, then I think it is not possible. Instead, use the events table to achieve it.
    Use the 'REUSE_ALV_EVENTS_GET' FM to get all possible events and then modify
    the events internal table to specify the form name to handle top-of-page event.

    1. Things won't work if we do normal things.
    2. The important things are :
    a) New PF-STATUS is required , say 'ABCD'.
    b) Handle user_commmand
    3. First of all, from Function group SALV,
    copy the STANDARD gui status to your program,
    from SE80, by right clicking.
    4. come to your program.
    start-of-selection.
    SET PF-STATUS 'ABCD'.
    5. Double click ABCD and activate the gui status.
    6. In gui status,
    in those green buttons and yellow buton,
    write BACK1 in both.
    ie. buttons with fcode BACK1.
    Save and activate.
    6. AT USER-COMMAND.

    FYI ... for all those developers trying to select multiple rows in an ALV report, and get the selected rows - without using the OO approach to display to ALV, and without using checkboxes in the function module approach.  First off, you need to use the function module REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY_LVC instead of the standard REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY.  This allows you to select multiple rows using the toggle, line selection buttons, at the start of each row (with 'select all' button).  See the sample code below.  If you are converting from the one fm to the other, you will have to change the type of 2 of the structures to the 'LVC' structures and make minor code changes.  The example code below was initially using the REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY fm, and was converted to use REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY_LVC  to allow for multiple row selection.  The next step is to create a custom status, with a new custom button, that will start the processing of the selected rows.  Go to tcode SE41, press Copy Status, and copy program SAPLKKBL, status STANDARD, to your custom program (same name as the custom ALV rpt) and a new status name (ie STANDARD1).  In the new STANDARD1 status for the custom ALV program/rpt (tcode SE41), add a new button ('&EXE') at the end of the std buttons (items 29-35).  Assign the new button a Text, Icon and a Function Key. Thats it!

  • Sum in ALV grid display using objects

    Hi Experts,
    I have created a Report with ALV using objects and also am able to get SUM for some fields using do_sum = 'X'.
    My problem is i want to do some calculation using the total amount which i have got, how can i do that (or can it be done??).

    ABAP List Viewer
    The common features of report are column alignment, sorting, filtering, subtotals, totals etc. To implement these, a lot of coding and logic is to be put. To avoid that we can use a concept called ABAP List Viewer (ALV).
    This helps us to implement all the features mentioned very effectively.
    Using ALV, We can have three types of reports:
    1. Simple Report
    2. Block Report
    3. Hierarchical Sequential Report
    There are some function modules which will enable to produce the above reports without much effort.
    All the definitions of internal tables, structures and constants are declared in a type-pool called SLIS.
    1. SIMPLE REPORT.
    The important function modules are
    a. Reuse_alv_list_display
    b. Reuse_alv_fieldcatalog_merge
    c. Reuse_alv_events_get
    d. Reuse_alv_commentary_write
