Using a Component in many Web-Dynpros

Hi gurus,
following Problem:
I'd like to develop a simple Component, that checks (using a standard RFC-User) if the current user is a valid SAP user. Therefor I have to create a JCO Connection and check the user via RFC in different Systems. The Component have no GUI elements and should return the status of the user. Input parameters are the SAP system and the SAP User.
What is the best way to do this - perhaps a simple class where I  create manually a JCO Connection and check the user? I am not sure that is the correct way.
Thanks in advance Stefan

Hi,
  If you are looking to use this functionality across WD components within the the same development component, then using a simple class will serve the purpose.
  But I guess a more cleaner approach would be to put this functionality inside a seperate development component and expose this functionality (and others, probably) as public parts. You can then consume this from other WD compoenents.

Satyajit.

  • Using External JARs in a Web Dynpro Project

    Hi,
    I'm having some difficulties building and deploying a Web Dynpro application that uses the Apache JaxMe libraries.  We're using SP11 of Developer Studio and WebAS and we're using JDI Scenario 2+ for building and deployment.  Thus far here's the procedure I followed:
    1) Created a DC of type "External Library"
    2) Added the necessary jars to the "libraries" folder of the External Library DC project (the jars that I added were jaxme2-rt.jar, jaxme2.jar, jaxmeapi.jar, jaxmejs.jar, jaxmepm.jar, jaxmexs.jar, xercesImpl.jar, xml-apis.jar all of which were pulled from the Apache JaxMe implementation download)
    3) For each of the jars in the libraries folder I right-clicked, selected Develoment Component then clicked "Add to public part"
    Then after reading this note:
    https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=012006153200000038152005
    I created a J2EE Library Component DC following these steps:
    1) Created a new DC of type J2EE Server Component / Library
    2) Added the External Library DC that I had just created as a "Used DC"
    3) Edited the DC so that it is used a Build Time and Run Time
    Finally I went to the Web Dynpro application and included the J2EE Library Component DC as a Used DC at build time and run time.
    I was able to build all of the project successfully (doing a DC build for each) then I was able to succesfully deploy the applications to my local development WebAs (by doing a DC deploy for both the J2EE Server Component and the Web Dynpro application)  The problem is that at runtime the Web Dynpro application cannot find the external libraries.  For example, I receive the following error when running the application:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/xml/bind/JAXBException
    The "missing" class is included in one of the jars but for some reason these jars are not accessible to Web Dynpro at runtime.
    Any help you can provide on this problem is very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!
    Jason

    I created the <b>JAR</b> with the following class (structure):
       <b>com.sap.tc.webdynpro.tests.utils.TableSorter.class</b>
    I have followed the steps that was suggested in the forum:
    ==========================================================
    1) creating an Extneral library DC
    2) import the JAR "com.sap.tc.webdynpro.tests.util.jar" to the libraries folder of the External Library DC project
    3) Right-click on the JAR imported to the project and add them to the public part.
    This DC is now ready to be used as a build-time reference that will allow CBS to build the "main" Web Dynpro application that will use the external libraries. Next, we have to create a new Web Dynpro DC to hold the class files here are the steps:
    1) Create a new Web Dynpro DC
    2) Create a new public part, selecting the "Can be packaged into other build results" option
    3) Rename the JARs as Zip files and extrct the full content (folders and class files) to your root folder
    4) Import the folders and files to the src/packages folder
    5) Expand the public part node that was created and select the "Entities" node, right-click it and choose Edit
    6) In the Entity Type list select the "Folder" option then in the selected entities tree pick each of the folders that you imported in step 5 (above)
    7) Now do a DC build and a DC deploy of the project
    Then check-in, activate, and release any activities you have associated with creating these two projects. In the DC perspective, refresh the Active DCs and Inactive DCs to ensure that both new DCs appear in the Active list. Now we have to setup the references to these DCs in our main Web Dynpro application. To do this, follow these steps:
    1) Open the Web Dynpro perspective and right click the Used DCs node then choose "Add Used DC.."
    2) Pick the public part of the External Library DC that we created (first) and set it to have a Build Time dependency
    3) Again, right click the Used DCs node and choose "Add Used DC.." then choose the public part of the Web Dynpro DC that we created and give it a Run Time dependecy (weak) and click finish.
    4) Now, due to what I think is a bug. You must right click on the Web Dynpro "used DC" that you just added in the previous step, and set the run time dependency again (it seems to revert to the default values for some reason)
    5) Now do a DC build and a DC deploy on the "main" web dynpro application.
    6) Check-in, activate, and release any activities associated with adding these references and then others on your team may use the classes in the external libraries within the Web Dynpro project.
    However, when I executed, the following exception occurred:
    ===========================================================
    Error stacktrace:
    java.lang.<b>NoClassDefFoundError</b>: <i>com/sap/tc/webdynpro/tests/utils/TableSorter</i>

  • Using External Library in Mobile Web Dynpro Offline

    Hi all,
    i would like to use a jar in a Mobile Application for Handheld and i followed the steps from the wiki "Using External Library in Mobile Web Dynpro Offline" at
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/home/usingExternalLibraryinMobileWebDynpro+Offline
    >How to use External Library in Mobile Web Dynpro Offline
    >For using external jar in local deployment scenario, one can do following:
    >1. In the dc where jar has to be used, add the jar as external jar classpath entry. It can be done via <dc> > (Right-click)> properties->Java Build Path->Select "add external jar".
    >2. Do the programming using the jar.
    >3. Shut down the mobile client.
    >4. Copy the jar in the "lib" folder of mobile client installation.
    >5. Deploy the application in the IDE.
    >6. Run the application.
    >In 5, the jar will not deployed and will be picked from the lib folder during 6.

    >Note: This will work on and after SAP Net Weaver CE 7.1 SR3 with Mobile plugins from CE 7.1 SR3 (and after).
    i get a error at the deployment with the message "...package myres does not exist...":

    Thanks,

    Hi,
    1) in Development Infrastructure Perspective -> rightklick in Navigator/Projekt Explorer  -> new Project  -> (Development Infrastructure)  Development Component (DC).
    NWDS generates Project Ressources e.g. the folder "libraries"
    2) copy the jars to the "libraries" folder.
    3) rightklick on the newly created Development Component (DC) ->  Development Component -> Show In ->  Development Properties -> go to the Tab "Public Parts",
    in -> "Defined Public Parts" -> klick on Button "Add" -> give a name for "Public Part" -> at "Purpose" select "Compilation" -> Finish.
    rightklick on the newly created Public Parts -> select  "Manage Entities" and select the jars you want to use -> Next -> Finish.
    4) switch to the Mobile Apps for Handhelds Perspective ->  in Development Component  select e.g. the Service Component or the UI Component ->
    rightklick ->  Development Component -> Show In ->  Development Properties -> got to Tab "Dependencies" -> klick on Button "Add"  -> under the Node MyComponents -> select the newly created Development Component with the Public Parts/jars (that was created in 1 - 3).
    thats all, now you can deploy your application

  • Use of multiple Applications for single webdynpro component in ABAP WEB DYNPRO

    I am working on a object which have multiple webdynpro applications for single webdynnpro component.How to assign a different functionality to each application bcoz when we right click on webdynnpro component and select create webdynpro applications ,it just creates a application how so we assign diff functionality to each of them .Also in the parameter tab of the webdynpro applications ,there is a diff config id mentioned for each application.what is its relavance

    Hi Sam,
    Different functionalities for a single webdynpro component can be achieved by many ways. Among them is the use of multiple applications. Say for example if you want different views/windows to be displayed at the start up, you can achieve it by specifying at the default window, for each every webdynpro application.
    And if you want control the fields, say for example you want to display input fields as editable for one application and read only for other application, you can achieve it through application parameters. Based on parameters, in HANDLEDEFAULT method of window controller , you can specify the type of behaviour , whether it has to editable or not based on parameters and same can be used at context binding of UI properties.
    Application configuration can be used for personalization.Web Dynpro ABAP Application Configuration. This tutorial would help you understanding the concept much better. There can be multiple application configurations for a single application.

  • A question on component design in Web Dynpro

    Hi experts,
    We currently working on our console which we want to implement them using Web Dynpro framework.
    During design time,  questions have been raised: we have like 100 EJB methods for our application, about 8 EJBs, we want to have faceless component taking care of persistence.
    The question is what is the best way to distribute the methods in terms of performance and supportability (for ease of development )? We discussed the following options:
    1.     One faceless component with one component controller implements 100 methods (maybe this is the worst)
    2.     Many faceless components, one for each EJB, here the question came up: performance because we have a tab strip in the UI that accesses 6 EJBs, would it take a long time to load/unload these components every single time we switch among the tabs ?
    3.     One faceless component with one custom controller for each EJB, here the question is: can we expose the custom controller in other to use them in the tabs?  Compared to option 1 we clearly separated the methods, so it is easier to support. Furthermore we should have a performance gain since the custom controllers are only loaded on demand.
    What do you think?
    Regards,
    Dat
    Edited by: Dat Triet Banh on Jul 4, 2011 4:47 AM

    Hi
    Better to segregate the EJB's and put it in seperate controller keep atmost 30 in one controller (you have around 3-4 component ). Any component which is going to use in other component is basically based on create on demand priniciple automatically by framework.
    or
    as given in point third create a component , with say 8-10 Custom Controller  implement the all the methods and put a same method signature in Component Controller, call the same through interface thats it.

    No problem with the first view.. displays everything...
    The Problem is when i click the button to nsvigate to the 2nd view, its not loading...
    Wait symbol is coming...
    Please Help me friends...

    hi ,
    pls use  the ZCi layout for the adobe interactive form .
    Need to Insert the web dynpro script to the form.
    Note: Make sure to upgrade the Adobe Interactive for ZCI type using SFP_ZCI_UPDATE transaction
    Subsequently, check whether the update of the ZCI was successfully completed. To do this, open your form in the Adobe LiveCycleDesigner and check the version information of the ZCI script. The ZCI script is available on the "Hierarchy" tab page under the "ContainerFoundation_JS" name. The version must be800.20080513120641.469612.469346.

  • Create a entity using a session bean in web dynpro

    Hi.
    I want to create an entity bean object trough an EJB session bean in web dynpro, e.g using a form in a WD application filled in by a user.
    I understand how to display a list of entity beans through a session bean and a table, but I don't understand how to create (or edit or remove) such information.
    My session beans look like this:
    @Stateless
    public class MyObjectBean implements MyObjectLocal {
         @PersistenceContext(name = "MyObject", unitName="ProjectPU")
         public EntityManager em;
         public void create(MyObject myObject) {
              em.persist(myObject);
         public void edit(MyObject myObject) {
              em.merge(myObject);
         public void remove(MyObject myObject) {
              em.remove(em.merge(myObject));
         public MyObject find(Integer id) {
              return em.find(MyObject.class, id);
         @SuppressWarnings("unchecked")
         public List<MyObject> findAll() {
              return em.createNamedQuery("MyObject.findAll").getResultList();
    So the model class would be called Request_MyObjectLocal_create.
    I attempted to use [this|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/45/dd45e4bc295595e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm] help file but I find the answer (step 17) quite unclear.
    Help is greatly appreciated!
    Vincent.

    I've just found the solution from Steve Muench weblog, always useful by the way!
    You can find the solution at this link http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2004/05/07/handcodingDynamicDiscoveryOfEjbdeployedAppmodule.html
    In summary, we need to use the class com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory, which supports dynamic lookup, and implement the lookup ourselves.
    The code I've written to lookup the service is listed below:
    public static ApplicationModule getAppModuleManutencao() {
    try {
    Context ctx = getContext();
    ManutencaoFacadeHome home = (ManutencaoFacadeHome) ctx.lookup(EJB_MANUTENCAO_BEAN_NAME);
    ApplicationModule am = ApplicationModuleProxy.create(home, null);
    return am;
    } catch (NamingException nex) {
    nex.printStackTrace();
    return null;
    private static InitialContext getContext() {
    try {
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "admin");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "welcome");
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "opmn:ormi://dsv008:OC4J_dvt20/mct");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_AUTHENTICATION, "simple");
    return new InitialContext(env);
    }catch (NamingException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    return null;
    I hope this helps someone!!!
    Cheers!

  • Urgent ..How to use Tree component in a web based interface

    I want to make a Java web based windows explorer type interface.
    For that i want to use tree component .
    Is it possible for me to do this.
    Can anybody suggest me how to do ?

    Hi,
    I assume you plan to do this in a browser and you plan to use JTree. When using an applet, you'd have to make sure that the latest Java Plug-In is available on the client.
    If you not plan to use JTree, you could use a Tree component which is not based on swing such as the one at http://www.calcom.de/eng/dev/cctree.htm
    In this case still the browser would have to be 'Java enabled' by any kind of plug-in

  • Using existing SAP Queries in Web Dynpro for Java

    Hello,
    Does anyone knows any tool to easily reuse SAP Query reports in Web Dynpro for Java?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Diz,
    You can use RSAQ_REMOTE_QUERY_CALL (which rfc enabled) functional module to generate rfc adaptive model which can be used inside WD project.

  • Using Portal Theme for a Web Dynpro ABAP Application

    Hello everyone,
    I've created a web-dynpro abap application that I display on one of my portal pages using a Web-dynpro iView.
    Somehow, the WDA app never reads the portal theme properties and has the default SAP roadshow theme colors. I've tried almost everything including passing the theme as an application parameter using WDTHEMEROOT and WDFORCEEXTERNALSTYLESHEET params.
    Documentation states that the application should automatically read the portal's theme, but it never does.
    Interestingly, I have one more web-dynpro java application that works fine and uses the portal theme correctly.
    Am I missing anything? Are there special considerations for WDA apps to adapt to the current portal theme?
    Any ideas, suggestions, solutions would be greatly appreciated.

    >Am I missing anything? Are there special considerations for WDA apps to adapt to the current portal theme?
    What are the release and support package levels of both your ABAP system and your portal?  If the ABAP AS has a later release or SP level than the portal, the Web Dynpro framework will always fall back to using the theme of the backend ABAP system.  This is to protect the application rendering.  Running with a theme (CSS and JavaScript) from an older release or support package level could cause the application to render incorrectly.
