Using a flash animated header in iWeb, possible?

Hey guys, I have a flash header that has some animations in it and was hoping I could use it in iWeb. After playing around, I can't figure it out.
I have searched too, but only see how to add videos.
Anyone know if I can actually import and use a flash header with animations in iweb?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes you can. Just put the flash file on the server and link to it via an HTML snippet. This tutorial site, Artotems Flash in iWeb has a lot about that. I have a swf file (made with Pages 08) on thistest page that was embedded with an HTML Snippet and this code:

In this case I have the swf file in my iDisk's Pictures folder. If you'd like to put it in the Movies folder just change the .Pictures to .Movies.
Artotems' site has other types of flash code you can use depending on your flash file.

Flash animation header problem

I have created a flash animation and placed it as a header on
a template. I then created multiple pages with this template. All
pages shoe the animation except the index page. Even when I do a
save as on one of the other pages and recreate the index, it still
doesn't show up. I am stumped. What about the index page is
different than any of the others as far as code that might block
this flash animation?
Any ideas?

Integrating Flash Animation Components in Standard iPhone Application

Hi there,
Will it be possible in Flash CS5 to use a flash animation in a generic OpenGL ES Frame as a GFX component ?
For example I have a OpenGL ES Frame were I am drawing polygons, rasters and stuff with standard Objective C, and I would like to add, on top of that, a Flash animation generated by Flash CS5. The kind of thing we can do with Scaleform for example.
That would be just great ^^

Is Flash animation possible in iWeb?

I've tried dragging .swf files I made in Keynote into iWeb, but they just show up in a movie player and not a self playing animation. It wouldn't even show the transitions I made. Has anyone figured out if it's even possible to add Flash?
Maybe in March a Pro version of iWeb will debut along with the other new Universal Pro Apps. Here's hopin'. Other than that, iWeb is pretty dang cool.

I'm not privy to the details and deals made between Macromedia (now Adobe) that allowed QuickTime 4 play Flash version 3 formats. The QT 5 allowed version 4 of Flash. And, 6 allowed Flash 5. Seems they were always one version number behind.
QuickTime 7 can't open Flash published higher than version 5, still. No version 6 support and nothing about Flash MX and newer versions (now up to 8, I believe).
If you want to hide the movie controller (I do it all the time in my pages) just set the html code for controller="false" in both the object and embed tags.
QuickTime also allows "progressive download" (a.k.a. Fast Start). Again, a simple html tag is all that is usually needed (autoplay="true") for this function to work.
The feature of Flash animation that allows this speed is its use of "objects". Once created, they can be morphed into different shapes or reused without increasing file size. Video formats can't do that. And neither does your Keynote export even though it is in Flash file format.
Vector graphics (scalable) are another Flash feature but QT can do some vector graphic formats (text files are an example).
Flash files usually display quickly (small file size) and don't demand much on a CPU because of what they are. Nothing to do with the file content,
Lastly, the Flash format was never intended for "video" formats. They don't do the colors (8 bit 256 colors is the normal limit of Flash) that most graphics now demand.

Importing Flash Animations Into iWeb...

I noticed that in the few days I have had the privilege of using iWeb, I have noticed that Flash animations that I have created only show up as links on the page, and not actual Flash animations (meaning, when wanting to show the Flash animations on a website, they only show up as a small link, and don't automatically run on the website....
So, my question is this: Does iWeb support Flash animations? If so, how do you import them into iWeb without them simply showing up as links? Thanks in advance for your swift response....

Just any theme download from a site is not enough. The 3rd party themes must be designed specifically for iWeb and, as such, should have an installer included.
Otherwise, start with either the white, black, or formal themes and use graphic files from those themes to create a custom design.

Flash Animation In IWeb Site Not Showing Up In Internet Explorer

I have created a site for a company and used a flash file on one of the pages. The flash file does not open when looked at from a computer using Internet Explorer, which happens to be the client. Please advise on some possible solutions (besides using IE). Thanks!

I don't know that much about PC's, but you need to open the browser and click on the preferences, I think in the same way as you would do with a Mac and click on select javascript.
Rather than Firefox, get them to download a copy of Safari for PC from the Apple site.
Other than this I am not really sure of a solution, other than telling them to buy a Mac instead!!

Is it possible to import a png sequence to be used as an animation into Captivate 7?

Knowing that png files come into Captivate quite well, I am wondering if it is possible to bring in a sequence of png files, that are an animation, without having to bring them in one at a time and lining them up on the timeline one after the other?

Thanks for your reply. However, I have tried going the route of animated gif files already with mixed results (more bad than good) and was hoping there was an easy way to drop in a sequence of png files, as I would imagine that they would all show.
But may I ask the settings (to save the files) you used for your animated gif files? The problem with mine was that the animations would not play (most of the time) when I would run the slides with the animations in IE and Safari. The animation looked fine in Captivate but as soon as I pushed them out to HTML5 animations would not play. I have been using Photoshop with the following settings in the image below:
Also, if you could let me know if you tested your course with any gif animations in IE or Safari and let me know your results, I'd really appreciate it.

_self doesn't work when Flash is embedded into iWeb

I am currently building a site for a client who requested that all the pages be built in in iWeb so that she could easily manipulate them without my further involvement. She also requested that the site contain Flash elements such as a drop-down navbar.
I embedded the Flash elements with this code:

And used the HTML insert function in iWeb to place the Flash .swfs.
The problem is, for some reason, iWeb—as expected—is very particular as to the action script it will accept. In terms of the navbar links, I couldn't use variables. The only URLRequest function I could use was:

For some reason the link no longer works when I add the _self, even when it manages to work in the Flash viewer or even if I display the file from my GoDaddy FTP. I've been researching the problem for days, and I just can't seem to find a solution. I can't make the code any more complex, because then iWeb won't accept the link at all. I was wondering if anyone has solved the problem—a rather obscure one—and if not, I was hoping someone had a workaround I haven't seen or another way to work around iWeb's stupidity.

CVI indeed attaches to the debug output. Since it is the first to get a chance to do that for its own process it will effectivly disconnect any other debugger from that output for anything that is executed in CVI. Windows has some serious limitations in terms of piping streams in comparison to Unix systems, and this is one of them.
But what is wrong about the CVI Debug Window? You do get the information in there so it seems possible to do debugging of your LabVIEW DLL in CVI.

Flash animation in Portal

Hi Experts,
I'm wondering if it's possible to insert a flash animation in the masthead, and how could be this done?.

How to use HTML Video for iPad in iWeb

I agree with all the advantages of HTML Video. How do you use html video on your iweb site?
I want my iWeb site video to be viewable on iPads.
I have learned the technique to use the HTML Snippet tool in iWeb to successfully post Flash video. I created all of my animations using Kenote's keyframe ability and have exported them to Quicktime and then have converted them into flash with Vertical Moon's Video to SWF. Then simply upload the SWF file to a folder on your idisk, then use the Flash Video insert HTML Snippet and insert the idisk url of the SWF file and you are done. What is the technique for HTML Video?
I have found some HTML video encoders, here are the links:

http://jilion.com/sublime/video this one looks great but is not yet available and I am guessing it is a converter that will make your iMovie Quicktime into HTML Video.
I have all of the i-Apps and Final Cut Express (2 revs out of date). Can I get the proper HTML video file from these programs, unless I am missing something I don't think so.

Your videos ARE viewable on a iPad. No need for explicit HTML video coding.
If you export your movies to iPhone that's all there is to do. You can do it in QT Pro/iMovie
And HTML Video is a HTML code, not the movie itself :

Embedding a Flash animation in a Flash Site

I'm looking for a solution to the following problem. I am
developing my website in Flash and I would like to show examples of
interactive flash animations I have developed. I imported my my
.swf animation to my flash site library, but when I drag and drop
it to the stage the following happens:
1. The animation plays from frame to frame without stopping.
2. Elements which were hidden (off the stage) in the
animation now show up on the stage.
3. When I open the animation in edit view (double click the
animation on the stage) the entire animation appears as individual
frames on one timeline.
I would like to maintain the interactivity of the animation
on the site (i.e. buttons, tool tips) and I suspect there is a way
to embed the animation in the flash site while in flash.
Any ideas?

You don't really want to add new files that way. In addition
to the problems that you list, you will also be making one, large,
file. This means that it will take longer to download, and possibly
play poorly.
You should keep these independent .swf files as they are, and
"import" them using either AS2's loadMovie() or AS3's URLRequest()
to bring each file into your movie.

If I understand what you mean. I should set these vars while
creating the flash movie, right?
But that`s not exactly what I need, as I just get the .SWF
made by someone else, and display then on my application. So what I
need is something more like a param to the object tag or a
javascript command that I could call from the HTML page, and then
it would display that .SWF flipped.
I'll try to explain why I need it.
I have an application that accepts various formats, including
flash (SWF), SVG, and static images. There is a requirement that
the user should be able to see the application through a
telepromter (something like this

and that`s why I must provide an option for him to flip the
images/clips. I`ve used an embeddeb browser to display the SWF
files. The flipping option has already been implemented for all the

go around that?

Place fixed flash animation in Dreamweaver

Hi All,
I am a complete beginner with Dreamweaver, and having great
problems fixing the size of a flash animation I'm playing as an
intro. I have managed to get the animation in and it centred, but
when I tested it on another computer I noticed it had stretched and
for some reason it was possible to minimise the animation by using
the + and - signs whilst in the browser window. How can I prevent
this from happening, so no matter what machine you view from it
keeps the size and position the same.
Any advice will be much appreciated.

You will have to place your code for the flash file inside the code for the picture frame. If you have used the picture frame as a background image then position your flash file using a combination of css rules as required.
Another way (if you have flash pro), is to use the picture frame as a skin for your flash file.

Upload your flash file to a folder on your server and use an iFrame to display it on your website.

Flash animations are out of the flash window limit ...

When I place a flash animation in power point using breeze
presenter, and I publish the presentation it is possible to see the
animations that are out of the flash window limit …
What can I do to make the breeze respect the flash limits and
hide the animations outside those limits?

Just out of curiosity....is it possible that you've got
elements in flash that begin OFF the flash stage and then animate
ONTO it?
There was a *funky* artifact of creating flash animations
that played very strangely when imported into Breeze; there was a
tech note about this, but I haven't found it recently. If your
flash animation *must* be 200 x 200, then what I'd try is this:
In flash, create a mask layer and be sure to have all other
layers become masked by it. I realize that without seeing your
animation, that it's probably "easier said than done"... However,
the thing to note here is that by masking the stage in flash (and
thus all the elements animated within it), you'll effectively kill
the visibility of all visual elements that are off the stage.
