Using a pdf as a template for packaging design?

Hello,
This is my first foray into indesign and I have been given the simple task of an design for an insert for blister pack. I have a pdf showing the size and shape of the blister pack and the location of the product, but not sure how I can use this in indesign. Can I simply place it indesign and then work over the top of it or is there a better way...its' an odd shape hence why I can't simply replicate in  the layout in indesign.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.
Jenny

You can if it’s actual size. Put it on the bottom layer, lock it and make it non printing.

  • Using NTSC 720 X 480 Templates for HD 1440 X 1080

Okay so I'd like to use an NTSC template for an HD project. Is there any way of doing this? I have Motion 3 and it only offers SD versions of the template I want to use.
    Is there a way to convert a 720 X 480 template to HD 1440 X 1080 ?

Thanks for the reply TCY. I can't confirm whether your instructions are correct or not. I decided to outsource this project and ended up finding a guy who has agreed to create the slides for me for just $150. Can't beat that. (I'm a producer not a post production guy.) Hopefully someone will be able to make use of your advice at a later time.

  • How can we use a pdf form multiple times for different people (students)?

Our school created a pdf form of our report card but we are not able to "save as" the forms for use by multiple teachers for multiple students. Please advise.

Just use Adobe Reader XI.  Adobe Reader XI allows for forms data saving but it does NOT allow for locking down that data.

  • Using an MS Excel like template for data entry into an Oracle table

Does anybody know of a way, or development tool, that has the look and feel of MS Excel but can be used for data entry and be saved to an Oracle table and be embedded into a JSP page? I am currently using iSupport and have a need to allow users to enter data into an MS Excel like template, once the user saves the service request I need for the values to be saved in the attribute fields of the service request. I need the ability to map the cells of the template to the fields in the Oracle table. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Can I use PrE 11 HD DVD templates for PrE 12?

    Hello,
I have PrE 11 and just installed PrE 12.  I am wondering (hoping) that I can use the PrE 11 HD DVD templates that I have already downloaded for my PrE 12 installation.  It is unfortunate that Adobe now makes us download these templates as not everyone has a lightning fast internet connection.
    Any help is appreciated.

I have an important add on for the Premiere Elements 11 user who goes on to Premiere Elements 12 and wants to use the Premiere Elements 11 saved Online Folder (complete) as a replacement for the Premiere Elements 12 Online Folder (incomplete) to avoid the same slow Content download experience of Premiere Elements 11.
This not going to be a one on one swap of the whole Premiere Elements 12 Online Folder (incomplete) with the whole saved Premiere Elements 11 Online Folder (complete).
The 11 and 12 Online Folders are the same, except for the two new folders within the 12 Online Folder.
    So, consider:
    Premiere Elements 11 Online Folder
    Clips Arts Folder
    DVD Templates Folder
    Movie Themes Folder
    Title Template Folder
    but
    Premiere Elements 12 Online Folder
    Clips Arts Folder
    DVD Templates Folder
    Movie Themes Folder
    Title Template Folder
    Music Scores Folder (NEW)
    Sound Effects Folder (NEW)
Details are included my blog post where I tried to put this information together.

And my report should generate the letters for all the employees (using the same look and feel as given in word). Here <column_name1> contains list of all employees and <column_name2> contains list of their supervisors.

  • Use one row as a template for new ones

I'm one of those people abusing a spreadsheet as a database, so except for the header all my rows have the same formatting and formulas.
Unfortunately the only way to add a row like this is copying one and adjusting it. This means I can't have hidden columns. An alternative would be keeping a row with default values around, but I sort and filter a lot so it'd be hard to find. Maybe in another table.
Anyway, the Number manual says "If all the body cells in a column above the new row contain the same formula or cell control, the formula or cell control is repeated in the new row."
Could anyone get this to work? For me it repeats formatting but not controls like steppers, and no formulas.
PS yes, I've looked at Bento

    Lachla,
First, yes, this feature does work. I suppose that it's possible that while you think your table is built according the the requirements, it may not be. Are you sure that your headers are actually in a Numbers "Header Row"? And, are you sure that all your Body rows are identical, allowing of course for relative addressing?
    I'm suspicious because you say:
Unfortunately the only way to add a row like this is copying one and adjusting it.
There should be no adjustment necessary if the rows are identical. Adjustment for relative addressing would be automatic after a Copy/Paste.

  • How to change the default print template for broadcast PDF Export

    Hi,
I have currently designed a print template for printing purposes and use this as the template for the print button(Export to PDF),if i were to click on this button the output pdf is the desired PDF. But if i were to broadcast the template with output format as PDF it picks the layout of the current template, how do i set broadcast to pick up the print template also???
Further how to insert a page break in a PDF print template.

    Hi Nagesh,
    These setting are for
    1.Adhoc Template for Queries
    2. Adhoc Template for reports designed through report designer
    3. Template for query precalculation
    4. Template for displaying broadcasting wizard.
When we use broadcasting from query designer  to email PDF's the system uses 0QUERY_TEMPLATE_BROADCAST_PDF.
From WAD the system uses the current template layout as PDF Layout.
P.S: OSS note 1054460 -<b>Depending on the BI object type and possibly other criteria, different Web templates are used in BI broadcasting to generate PDF (and PS or PCL) formats:</b>
<i>For Web templates: the Web template itself is used</i>

Can I use an alternate (backup) Edit template for a WebApp?

Nope! If it is absolutely essential that you have different editable bits of the web app, then you might want to consider splitting your web app into different apps and linking them together with data source.

  • 24" iMac for Graphic Design studio workstation?

Hi there, I've been using macs since the early 90s for graphic design and have always bought their "professional" models, ie towers. These days it seems the line between iMacs and towers is getting a bit blurred... iMacs are pretty darn powerful. So I need to add a workstation to the design studio and am considering just getting a 24" iMac instead of a tower + apple display. I use Adobe CS2 apps (photoshop, indesign, illustrator, etc.) Rarely, I deal with 500meg layered photoshop images, but I don't do any sound/video stuff.
So my big question... is the iMac good enough for a full time graphic designer's workstation or should I stick with a tower? The difference is over a $grand.
    G5 tower Mac OS X (10.4.8)

The 24" iMac is a perfect match for a graphic designer.
On the plus side, the large screen is actually 4 inches larger than the smallest Cinema Display (20"), meaning great value. Secondly, you have the small form factor and the conveinience of an all-in-one unit, and the RAM is extremely easy to upgrade, with a ceiling of 3GB; plenty to run Photoshop or Aperture. The Nvidia graphics card is very potent as well; a must for people working with high-res images.
On the downside, you still won't get the sheer performance that a tower such as the Mac Pro will offer. You also won't get the expandability. You can't upgrade the graphics card in the iMac. You also can't upgrade the hard drive easily, and USB and firewire card upgrades (necessary to keep up with todays latest connection methods for digital cameras) are out of the question.
The 24" iMac is superb. It will give you the horsepower to run even a small graphics design business. But if you are serious about graphic design as a career, still go for a tower. You will be glad you did. I wouldn't be surprised if you found yourself selling the iMac and upgrading your system 3 or 4 years from now. However, if you expect to upgrade in that time anyway, the iMac is a better value.
Good Luck with your decision. I know you will be happy no matter which machine you choose!
