Using ADODB library in labview Activex

I created an executable and an Installer of a VI which uses ADODB library on a computer which had VB installed on it.
I installed this on a computer which did not have VB installed on it. After installing i got the Activex object "Microsoft ADO Data Control, version 6.0 (OLED)"  in labview.
Then i tried inserting Activex object "Microsoft ADO Data Control, version 6.0 (OLED)" into an Activex container but i got the message
 "Error insering Activex object: Class is not licensed for use".
How can i use the ADODB library on computers which dont have VB installed on them.

  • Using OpenCV library in LabVIEW

    Hello all!
    I'd like to know how can I use some code I wrote in C/C++, using the OpenCV libraries, in LabVIEW.
    Do I have to create a .DLL and load it in LabVIEW? If so, how does LabVIEW handles the different data types, pointers, etc.?
    The script nodes (which I'm not very familiar with) of LabVIEW run C code?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Using call library function on a dll file created in an old version of labview

    So I'm trying to update an old labview program to work in labview 2012. Everything converted over just fine but labview will always crashoverwrote some while using a  library function in a DLL that was compiled using labview 8.5. Labview exits, stating that it vital memory area. It passes an array of data to the library call and an empty array for output. I thought I could get around this problem by changing my code to initialize the array being passed in so that it would be large enough to hold all the expected output. Now instead of overwritting areas of memory it shouldn't, I get a pop up message that says:
    fatal internal error
    memorymanager.cpp line 406
    8.5.1.f5
    So it appears because I don't have the ability to recompile the DLL file it runs off of the 8.5 runtime instead of the more recent one. Is there any thing I can do about this?

    rjpierce wrote:
    So I've been trying to figure out a way around this on my own while waiting on a response. From what I'm reading, a dll created in one version of the labview runtime can't be used by a different labview runtime. Am I correct in this? I feel like I must be mistaken since that's basically the opposite of how a dll should work. If nothing else works I have access to the original code for the DLL but it requires the control and simulation toolkit. I would like to avoid having to recompile the DLL since it was put in to a DLL to avoid the need for the toolkit to begin with.
    Your problem most likely is that you try to pass native datatypes to the DLL function? That only can work if the caller and callee use the same LabVIEW runtime engine. Otherwise the memory block created in the memory manager of the caller will be accessed by the memory manager in the callee and bad things happen. Instead you should define the DLL function to use standard C datatypes (Pointer to C array) and also make sure to allocate the according buffer in the caller for all output array parameters.
    An even more elegant way would be to completely abandon the DLL approach and call the according functions directly in LabVIEW. Then you won't have the problems about mismatched runtime engines. Passing C array pointers to a DLL is less performant than passing native datatypes, but if you use native datatypes you have to make sure the DLL is compiled in the same LabVIEW version as the one you call it from.

  • How to get LabVIEW to use library created in Xcode using a library node?

    I have written C++ code in the Xcode IDE on Mac OS X. This code controls a camera driver to tell it to take a picture and save it. I want to call this code in LabVIEW. I am trying to use a library node, but when I tell it the location of the Xcode project it doesn't recognize that anything is there. How can I get LabVIEW to recognize this? (Xcode used to be called Project Builder in earlier versions). In the documentation it says to link against libvlexports.a. I have included this file in my Xcode project, but does "link against" mean something more than that?

    To create a framework in XCode that you can reference in LabVIEW for Mac OS:
    Open XCode.
    Select File»New Project.
    Select Framework»Carbon Framework as the project type.
    Name the framework when prompted. Click Finish.
    The XCode browser will now appear. Click on main.c to open the file. This is where you will create your functions. For an example open the file main.c in the Call Library Function Node on Mac with XCode zip file.
    After adding your functions, compile the framework. The compiler settings should all be left at default.
    Access your functions via a Call Library Function Node in LabVIEW.
    To access the functions in a framework using the Call Library Function Node in LabVIEW:
    Place a Call Library Function Node on the block diagram by going to All Functions»Advanced»Call Library Function Node.
    Apple-Click on the Call Library Function Node and select "Configue..."
    Click on the Browse button and browse to your .framework file and click Select to select the framework.
    Type the name of the function you want to access in the Function Name field.
    NOTE: Unlike LabVIEW 7.x for Windows, once your framework is selected, the Function Name field DOES NOT autopopulate a list of functions in the framework.  You must type in the name of the function you want to access.
    Specify the return type of the function.
    Add the number of parameters in the function and specify their types.
    The function prototype will appear in the Function Prototype field according to how you have specified the function parameters.
    Click the OK button.
    Your Call Library Function Node will appear with the number of inputs you selected as well as the output. If LabVIEW cannot find the function you specified within the framework, it will show a broken Run arrow.
    The "Call Library Function Node on Mac with XCode.zip" file (attached) contains a simple framework created in XCode along with its source code in main.c.  main.c simply contains two functions both of which multiply two numbers. One function accepts integers and the other doubles. The zip file also contains a VI that references this framework using a Call Library Function Node.  This VI was created in LabVIEW 7.1 for Mac OS.

    I think its stream, but I'm not sure that it matters that much what you

    is written in ATL and the data is extracted and placed in a LV VI file

  • How to use Call library function node for a function in dll with VOID data type

    Hi All,
    I would like to ask for your kind help,
    I am facing an issue with the call library node.
    I have a C++ function(stdcall), which has void as data type
    error code XXXX(hwnd, lID, getValue, *void data1, *void data2)
    the data1 and data2 types are always changing depending upoin the value of "getValue".
    Primarily i can use call library node multiple times and adapt each node according to the data types of data1 and data2, and extract the values and use in the code. Here is no issue. Real question is:
    My question:
    How can i just use one time call library node and make a case depending upon the "getvalue", which will control the data type of data1 and data2. Here i really looking for solutions.
    My trials:
    i used varaints as input to the call libray node for data1 and data2, and selected Parameters in call libraby node as " Adapt to type". here labview just crashed.
    i really appreciate your feedbackand suggestions.

    A variant is a very specific LabVIEW datatype (really a C++ type object internally) and trying to pass that to a function, which excepts a flat memory pointer there, for sure will crash very quickly.
    As to endianess, yes Unflatten will be able to adjust for endianess, which in this case however is most likely exectly NOT what you want. So make sure that the you select native type for the endianess input on Unflatten from String. LabVIEW internally works with whatever is the native endianess, as will most likely your C++ DLL. The platform independent big endian format does only come into play when you receive data streams over some streaming interface like a network connection. Here it is desirable to use an endian format that is independent from the actual platform that generates and consumes the data stream. LabVIEWs default endianes is big endian here.
    But as long as you pass data directly to native components like DLLs there is no difference in endianess between what LabVIEW uses and what those components use.

    At first I kept scratching my head wondering why someone would want to do this. Create a DLL in LabVIEW to call it from LabVIEW. Seems redundant. But, perhaps it's an exercise or perhaps it's for testing the DLL...
    In any event, calling the DLL worked for me in 8.2. How are you configuring your Call LIbrary Function node? I have it set up as follows:
    return type: void
    iteration: Numeric, Signed 32-bit Integer, pass by value
    array1D2: array type, Signed 32-bit Integer, 1 dimension, "Array Data Pointer" format
    len: Numeric, Signed 32-bit Integer, pass by value
    Then I called the DLL like this:

  • How to load DLL library on Labview?

    Hi
    I have an application that is working well in Visual C++ 2012. I would like to load the dll library on labview and to execute the code on labview. I have only the DLL file, the working application and the help file. Is it possible to realise this task on labview using Call Library Function Node.

    Hi
    I have attached the help file describing the dll library (MTBApi.dll). My working program made on Visual C++ Dot Net is very big and therefore I can’t attach it.
    In my header file I import at the beginning the dll library on this way:
     #import "MTBApi.tlb" named_guids
    using namespace MTBApi;
    Than I have a class:
    class CMTBClientUsingCOMDlg : public CDialogEx
    public:
    CMTBClientUsingCOMDlg(CWnd* pParent = NULL); // standard constructor
    ~CMTBClientUsingCOMDlg(); // standard destructor
    enum { IDD = IDD_MTBCLIENTUSINGCOM_DIALOG };
    protected:
    virtual void DoDataExchange(CDataExchange* pDX); // DDX/DDV support
    protected:
    HICON m_hIcon;
    IMTBConnectionPtr m_MTBConnection;
    IMTBRootPtr m_Root;
    CComBSTR m_ID;
    IMTBChangerPtr m_Changer;
    IMTBDevicePtr m_Device;
    DECLARE_MESSAGE_MAP()
    public:
    afx_msg void OnBnClickedConnect();
    CButton m_BtnConnect;
    In my .cpp file I have:
    CMTBClientUsingCOMDlg::CMTBClientUsingCOMDlg(CWnd* pParent /*=NULL*/)
    : CDialogEx(CMTBClientUsingCOMDlg::IDD, pParent)
    m_hIcon = AfxGetApp()->LoadIcon(IDR_MAINFRAME);
    CoInitialize(NULL);
    try
    // create an instance of the connection class which can connect to the server
    m_MTBConnection = IMTBConnectionPtr(CLSID_MTBConnection);
    catch(_com_error e)
    CMTBClientUsingCOMDlg::~CMTBClientUsingCOMDlg()
    void CMTBClientUsingCOMDlg:isplayError(_com_error* e)
    void CMTBClientUsingCOMDlg:oDataExchange(CDataExchange* pDX)
    CDialogEx:oDataExchange(pDX);
    DDX_Control(pDX, IDC_CONNECT, m_BtnConnect);
    BEGIN_MESSAGE_MAP(CMTBClientUsingCOMDlg, CDialogEx)
    ON_BN_CLICKED(IDC_CONNECT, &CMTBClientUsingCOMDlg:nBnClickedConnect)
    END_MESSAGE_MAP()
    BOOL CMTBClientUsingCOMDlg:nInitDialog()
    CDialogEx:nInitDialog();
    void CMTBClientUsingCOMDlg:nPaint()
    void CMTBClientUsingCOMDlg:nBnClickedConnect()
    try
    // login to MTB, using english language
    m_MTBConnection->Login(("en"), &m_ID);
    // get MTB root (forcing an internal QueryInterface() on IMTBRoot!)
    m_Root = (IUnknown*)(m_MTBConnection->GetRoot((BSTR)m_ID));

    _bstr_t name = ((IMTBIdentPtr)m_Root->GetDevice(i))->GetName();
    catch(_com_error e)
    // connection close
    My question is how to start this code in labview. How to write the function in labview, par example this function:
    m_MTBConnection->Login(("en"), &m_ID);

  • How to call Fortran .dll file that using other library files?

    Hi,
    I am trying to do some arkward tasks using LabView, and I am desperately need help....
     A little bit background:
    1. My co-worker has some code written in Fortran, where he called other libraries (many from CERNLAB or PAW). Those stuffs are pretty powerful in mathmatical calculation and simulations.
    2. In some of my LabView code, I need to call his Fortran source code in order to do some complicated calculations. I have no capablility to translate his Fortran code to Labview (or is it even possible??), so we end up with trying to use "Call library function node" where I just provide input/outputs to communicate with his code. The idea sounds simple enough?
    3. We complie the Fortran code into .dll, and then specifiy the dll in "Call library function node". The first try with a very simple Fortran code, something like c = a+b*a, was sucessful. The dll file and Call lib function worked good. It's sort of proved the concept.
    4. Now I am trying more complicated Fortran code (say Test.dll), which calling other library (.lib files) that using typical "call xxx(a,b,c)" line, and my nightmare started....  It seems nothing was excuted when I call Test.dll in LabView.
    Questions:
    1. How do LabView know if the Test.dll code needs functions from other .lib files? Do I need to copy all the .lib files to a specific folder?
    2. When I create .dll file, for LabView to be able to use it, are there any special requirement on the way the .dll is compiled?
    3. Seems there is mismatch btw the data type in Fortran and LabView. For example, LabView's  Signed 8-bit Integer seems different with a integer in Fortran. How can i know the correlation btw data type in different langurage, i.e. LabView vs Fortran?
    4. Are there any good examples that I can take a look?
    I would highly appreicate any suggestions/helps!
    Rgds,
    Harry

    You are aware that Intel Visual Fortran is the successor to Compaq Visual Fortran (I think you made a mistype with the Virtual)? So an upgrade might be at its place.
    Anyhow I'm really not familiar with Fortran at all, but lib files are usually compiled into an EXE or DLL and not loaded dynamically. 1)
    So there should be no problem with locating those libs. What most likely is a problem are other DLL dependencies such as any Fortran Runtime library or possibly other third party DLLs the more advanced code in your DLL might be using.
    Typically most compilers can be configured to link the runtime library code statically into the DLL, as altenbach reports for the Intel compiler, otherwise you must make sure to install the  redistributable Fortran Runtime Library for your compiler. Besides that you must make sure to find out what other runtime dependencies your code might have and install them.
    1) One exception I know of is LabWindows CVI which allows to also load lib files dynamically. This is supposedly a legacy feature from LabWindows for DOS, which allowed that feature to simulate dynamic module loading in order to swap modules at runtime to work around the 640k memory limitation of DOS.

  • Call a special function in the dll using Call Library Function Node????

    Dear all,
          I am calling a special function in the dll using call library function node. There is a input parameter that it is a enum type in this function. I don't know how to deal this parameter for calling this function.Has anybody solved this problem?Please advise!
          I am appreciated of you anytime.

    Most of the times an enum is just a U8/U16/U32, internally so probably you can call it with just a U8/U16/U32 or something. For the correct value you have to look at the definition.

  • Can I use C code in labview?

    Hello, I've got a fairly complicated program I've written in C that
    requires two doubles to be passed to it and it spits out two integers
    as a result of a very detailed calculation. Is there a way to have
    labview call this C function? I've tried searching the NI.com website
    but all I could find were examples where labview was being compared to
    C in an attempt to show how they are equal. Any advice/links to
    relevant information or tutorials would be greatly appreciated.

    You have two possibilities:
    Compile your C code into a DLL and call it with "Call Library Function Node".
    Use the "Code Interface Node".
    The LabVIEW Bookshelf (under help) contains a PDF document name "Using external code in LabVIEW". It will probably answer all your questions. Good luck

  • Calling LabView ActiveX Server from TCL?

    Does anyone have experience calling a LabView ActiveX server vi from
    TCL? I created a simple VI with one control (labeled "A") and one

    set viPath "D:\\National Instruments\\LabView\\Activity\\a.vi"

    $vi -namedarg Call A 1
    I get the error message "unknown parameter A".
    I have also attempted to duplicate the "ActiveX Server" example
    from the LabView help file, calling "Frequency Response.vi". This
    approach encounters the same error message:
    % package require t
    com

    ::tcom::handle0x01335AE8
    % $vi FPWinOpen True
    % $vi -namedarg Call Amplitude 10

    If anyone can point me in the right direction, or give me an

    Try invoking the Call method without the -namedarg option. The
    -namedarg option doesn't work the way you seem to think it works. The
    -namedarg option provides a way to specify arguments named from the
    method's parameter specification. For example, you discovered that the
    Call method take two parameters named "paramNames" and "paramVals".
    Tcom returns the error "unknown parameter Amplitude" because "Amplitude"
    doesn't match either parameter name.

  • Using a driver with labview

    I want to create a GUI using labview to control a data acquisition card using a driver that was not created in labview. Could someone point me in the direction of some documentation that would give me some info on doing this.
    Thanks

    If you're using a non NI data acquisition card and the manufacturer doesn't have a LabVIEW driver, then you'll probably be using either a DLL or ActiveX interface that they provide. For interfacing to third praty DLLs, start with "Using External code in LabVIEW" that is part of the LabVIEW Bookshelf. You will need details from the manufacturer on the function calls. There are some shipping examples on ActiveX. The Invoke Node and Property Node functions on the Communication>ActiveX palette are used to access methods and properties.
    If you were to mention the make and model of the board you're using, you might find someone here with knowledge of it that would provide more details.

  • How to call LabVIEW ActiveX dlls into VB6

    I'm jumping in on a project written primarily in VB6. I'd much rather wirte code in LabVIEW so what I am looking for is some example code for calling LabVIEW activeX dlls into VB6. Does anyone have example code? I need to see how the LabVIEW libraries and classes are called and used in VB6.

    Hi Drewdafis,
    Refer to this link for example code on calling a LabVIEW DLL from Visual Basic.
    Hope this helps!
