Using Aironet 350 PCMCIA wifi card
i am trying to set up Aironet 350 PCMCIA card running on my laptop. from what i have seen people have been using airo_cs module with this card but when i do:
modprobe airo_cs
dmesg shows:
airo(): Probing for PCI adapters
airo(): Finished probing for PCI adapters
so maybe this is not the correct driver for PCMCIA card. the only thing that dmesg shows when inserting the card is:
pccard: PCMCIA card inserted into slot 0
but pccardctl info and ident show no info.
any ideas are appreciated
thanks for the response. lscpi does not show any information on the card either.

I'm having a problem with a Cisco Aironet 350 WiFi PCMCIA Card (speed has to be auto) installed in a Sony Camera and intermittently not connecting to a ZyXEL ZyAIR G-110 WiFi PCMCIA Card (speed set to b only (which is 11 MBPS))which is installed in a Dell Laptop. On startup (laptop first then camera) it sometimes connects and sometimes doesn't. The ZyAir card is always fully initialized first then the Aironet is initialized.
What I also noticed that was strange is that if you toggle (fn + F2) the Centrino WiFi NIC (built into the laptop) on and then off the Aironet suddenly establishes connectivity.
Any help would be appreciated.If you use a non cisco card you can NOT use any Cisco enhancements to the standards including LEAP or 128 WEP. 40 Bit WEP will work fine as long as your card supports it.

Will Intel PROset/Wireless WiFi card work on MacBook Late-2007? I don't have an Airport card with me as this MacBook was only given to me from a friend. Also will Mac OS X 10.6 install even though the WiFi card and Bluetooth card is not in the MacBook?
MacBook Late-2007, Mac OS X 10.6, 1GB RAM, 8x SuperDrive, 235GB 5400rpm HDD, Intel Core 2 Duo T8300, Intel GMA GraphicsI would seriously doubt that you will be able to use this card as a replacement for the AirPort Extreme card in your MacBook.
A better option would be to use a wireless USB Wi-Fi adapter instead. You can find these at a number of vendors on the Internet. One would be Other World Computing (OWC).
As far as installing OS X 10.6, you should be able to install it from the OS X installation disk regardless if the AirPort card is missing. -
Cisco Aironet 350 PCMCIA Card (ext. ant.) & ACU Troubles
The problem is, if the card is inserted in the slot and the acu software v.6.6 (or older) is installed, the card is via the ACU software not able to associate to a cisco accesspoint.
How can I solve this problem?
I 've tried several ways with win 2000, win xp with and without centrino chipset. It is always the same.
At an older CB21 card with the ADU software on the same hardware are no problemsFirst thing is to simplify your challenge. Do you have an antenna attached? Are you using the MMCX adapter connection for the antenna, Adapter cables for Orinoco cards are different and won't work.
Can you configure the 350 card via ACU? if so, does its encyrption settings/security match the AP. Can you connect to any other APs via the 350 card? Go to a WiFi hotspot and test your system and card there to see if you can attach to a Linksys or other off-brand AP?
Make sure you know the wireless security settings on the AP and match them on your wireless adapter cards. Can you connect with the access point wirelessly with any other wireless cards? If yes, can you connect the 350 to the AP using the Win XP wireless settings and not the ACU? One tip is to make sure the security settings on both card and AP are turned off, make the connection, then tighten security and encyrption back down.
Good Luck

PCMCIA Wifi card for PowerBook G4
Hi,
I have bay a Belkin Wifi 802.11G PCMCIA Card on the apple shop and I couldn't set up it on my PowerBook G4.
Could someone help me with this?
Thank you very much...
PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.3.9) PCMCIA WifiI had to install the software from http://www.ralinktech.com/supp-1.htm to get my Belkin card to work.
However, put the card in and click on the PCMCIA icon that appears in the menubar. See what chipset it says it is. If it isn't RALINK, then don't use the link I sent you. You may need to locate Mac-compatible drivers elsewhere. -
Which pcmcia wifi card to get for pb17" with Airport already installed?
Title says it all really... after 3 years the airport connection to all 3 of my apple base stations (1 X new airport extreme and 2 X airport expresses) is pathetic
Thought about a USB wifi stick - but that sticks out too much - would prefer to get a pcmcia card as I don't use it for anything else
So anyone have experience of which one to get?
Note that i've got airport express already installed in the pb - so would need to disable that or something - prefer it to be compatible without having to remove it - cos it's easier that way
Thanks allguess everyone is off in the MacBook forums!

Aironet 350 Series WiFi Issues
Hello Everyone,
Your assistance is greatly appreciated in this matter. Currently we have approximately 30 of the AIR-CAP3502I-A-K9's distributed across two floors that is being controlled by a wireless controller at another site. Signal strength is excellent, however, once devices connect to the APs the transfer rate DROPS dramatically. We think it is due to the outside interference in this building which are detecting almost 400+ rogue devices nailing our WiFi. Anyone have any suggestions/ideas?Unless you know the username password, the only way is to perform a reset on the ap..... or else it would be too easy for people to access equipment that doesn't belong to them.

[SOLVED] atheros pcmcia wifi card can't create ath0 interface
Hi i solved it myself, but propably someone else can have the same problem.
I was unable to set my wireless network because no ath0 interface was created when
ifconfig wlan0 up
command executed. Just wmaster0 created and any try to connect via wpa_supplicant destroyed the wmaster0 interface.
Solution is very simple
from your rc.conf file add ! to ath5k module. Here is my:
MODULES=(.... !ath5k ath_hal ath_pci wlan ......)
or remove it at all. Probably some bug, because ath5k are still in heavy development.
Reboot.
then type commands:
iwconfig
to see what interface you have, probably wifi0 or wlan0. It is the last one.
ifconfig wlan0 up
wpa_supplicant -Dmadwifi -iath0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf &
dhcpcd
1. interface up, ath0 will appear
2. connect via wpa protocol. You must first edit wpa_supplicant.conf file to your network
3. obtain ip and enjoyI've tried setting the interface up/down and it doesn't help. I don't think there's a driver conflict (but it's a bit hard to tell as there seems to be a few different modules that work together).
So you tried to set it DOWN and then
netctl restart your-profile -

Aironet 350 drivers, help
Hi, I need the windows XP, drivers or software suit for my aironet 350 mini pci card. I have tried this site's offerings many times with no avail, I'm just looking for the most basic functionality any advice would be much appreciated.
ThanksThe program used with the Aironet 350 Mini-PCI card called "ACU" Aironet Client Utility was not updated for Windows XP.
However, there is a native driver for the 350 card within XP that should work just fine. I'm currently using this native driver myself of a few notebooks using the PCM-350 (PC card version of the card you have). -
Airport Express as wifi card for Xbox Live, then connect to Extreme network
My son just got xbox Live and we're trying to use Airport Express as wifi card for xbox (connected to xbox via ethernet). We use Airport Extreme as router for the house.
We're having trouble setting up Xbox Live, keep getting stuck at getting the xbox to communicate/access the web. Error reads "can't obtain IP address from router... make sure DHCP is enabled and has a large enough address range for all devices on network.. also make sure MAC filtering allows your console's MAC address or is disabled... "
We dont' know what else to do. I'm at wit's end before giving Gates $100... Anyone know how to get connected?
Thank you!You can also perform a simple test to verify if you have an internet connection at the ethernet port on the AirPort Express.
Move a laptop near the Express, turn off the wireless on the laptop, and connect to the Express using an ethernet cable. See if you can open your browser and get a good solid internet connection.
If you can, the Express is setup correctly and you know that you have an internet connection reaching all the way to the Xbox.
If you can't then there is a configuration error somewhere and it will need to be identified and corrected. -
Configuring wireless card Cisco Aironet 350 PCI
I'm not a newbie in linux but now faced with a trouble. I could not manage to set up the card properly. I just installed Arch 0.8 and it's not quite clear to me how to do this with Arch. I've read all available Arch's docs on this topic.
So my situation's the following:
I have the wireless card Cisco Aironet 350 PCI and I've been using it with Slackware for a year. It works quite fine. But now, when I decided to move to Arch - I cannot set it up. My card's using `airo` module and it is loading well. All the present network devices are recognized. I can see this by ifconfig -a.
I have 2 NICs in my system:
1) simple Ethernet card - eth0. Is switched off in rc.conf
2) wireless. There are 2 different devices for it in my system: eth1 and wifi0 (and it's correct). I don't know why is it so and how about this with other wireless cards.
For example I placed here network configs from my Slackware which works well with them and expect your advice on how to do the same with Arch.
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf:

Who is aware - please describe or give me a link on this, how the two devises eth1 and wifi0 are connected to each other and how to set them up in Arch.
Thnx.Excellent! It works! Thank U very much.
My conclusion - /etc/network-profiles/ is much more suitable way/place to set your wireless network parameters even it's quite steady.
And now I have a couple of extra questions:
1) What should I do with actual network parameters in rc.conf? Currently they looks like:
lo="lo 127.0.0.1"
#eth0="eth0 192.168.0.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255"
INTERFACES=(lo !eth0)
gateway="default gw 192.168.0.1"
ROUTES=(!gateway)
NET_PROFILES=(tier)
and that looks and works OK. What about gateway? Should I comment it here or not?
2)Though everything works fine now, I can see that wifi0 device is not listed by ifconfig now (only by iwconfig), but in my Slackware system it is. Don't have I to mention my wifi0 device in network profile's section:
#WIFI_INTERFACE=wlan0 # use this if you have a special wireless interface
# that is linked to the real $INTERFACE
Thnx!
And sorry for ugly English -
What wifi cards fit fully inside a (dual) PCMCIA slot?
Teh background and information (bonus funny story)
So I was poking my 9 year old laptop recently and amazingly found that via a USB wifi dongle I'd completely forgotten about for a few months, I could get wifi on said laptop, even over USB 1.1.
Then I tried to figure out how to shove the dongle inside my laptop and things kinda went south from there at about 2.7 billion miles a second.
Everything just went *flooooop* when I accidentally put the little PCB back inside the dongle the wrong way after taking it out to try and fit it inside a space inside the laptop; this wasn't problem, except I couldn't see the little blue LED. So I hastily took the board out to flip it over and I think I touched the it while doing so for the first and only fatal time...
I also tried to craft a cardboard plug to fit in the USB port on the laptop, and may have pushed the little contacts into the plastic recesses in the port a bit too much; this is unlikely to be the problem because I very carefully re-bent the contacts out again, and my flash disk works every time I plug it in, sooo... probably not that.
Anyway, now I know how to put my laptop back together again *doesn't say anything about the small collection of screws he has no idea what to do with*
Right now, my USB dongle kinda works but really sporadically; it mostly doesn't work at all. It fails anywhere between the kernel thinking the "USB cable is bad" (</quote>) to fully detecting and configuring the dongle (under either an rtl8187 or ndiswrapper-powered driver), but not letting me connect to any SSIDs. I typically have to unplug the thing and shove it back in in the previous case, or give up in the latter, which I've no idea how to get around, until it feels like connecting again (perhaps after cooling down?).
So I want to try a PCMCIA type card because...
- I can't use my flash disk without a hub right now, since the dongle would occupy the only port available (although linux does say there's a 2 port hub inside >.>).
- The port has a cute little flap over it that I don't want to remove, and it causes my USB dongle to not be able to go in properly unless I use a cable
- I'm all like jittery about the USB port possibly not working =P
I've found it impossible to find any sort of specification sheet for this box so I have no idea what kind of PCMCIA port it has, but I'd imagine type #1 if that's of any help. The laptop itself is a Toshiba Satellite 2540CDS also.
Teh point
I want to get away from the whole "vulnerable peripheral sticking out of side of laptop" thing and get a PCMCIA card that fits fully inside a laptop's PCMCIA slot, preferably without needing to use an external antenna.
I don't mind if the card takes up the space of the upper slot as well; I'm not using that one (and doubt I will soon).
I've been told that cards like this exist, but (of course) I only want one that is known to work with Linux, or at least one that should theoretically work (ie because it uses a supported chipset), and one that includes an internal antenna.
Although an antenna sticking out the side sounds like it'd look cool, so I might be okay with that once I see what it'd look like
So what do you recommend?

Well, I cant give you proper answer how you can exactly remove the PCMCIA slot.
There are many screws and in my knowledge you have to remove all covers and screw which are placed at the bottom of the unit and inside under the keyboard.
Please check this unit precise. Maybe you have overlooked some screws.
But if it impossible to remove this PCMCIA slot from the unit I recommend to ask the service partner for a detailed instruction.
Good luck

Well, you're wrong, & in fact not only is it locked, GCI does not offer unlocking for iPhones.
Fact is your post won't help the OP.
And you are 100% sure its locked to them? How can you know this? While GCI does not offer unlocking that does not mean the phone is actually locked to it. Get off your high horse.
Its possible the original owner had an unlocked phone. he was using with GCI. Or that GCI doesn't actually have locked phones. Seeing as they don't even have their own infrastructure but instead use AT&T's I doubt they'd have iPhones specifically locked to them and that would be the reason they do not offer unlocking (because there's nothing for them to unlock). And just to clarify, I'm not saying for a fact its not locked to them. It very well maybe be, but without knowing more about the phone and going by the fact GCI uses AT&T infrastrucure its possible its not locked. But here's no way to say for sure either way.
Trying a Sim card from AT&T or another carrier might just help the OP if its actually unlocked or locked to AT&T rather than GCI. -
I have a verizon iphone 5c and I took out the SIM card just being curious and put it back in, now I can only use my phone on wifi and I can't use 4G or LTE strictly wifi. How can I fix this?
Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears? If that doesn't work, try resetting the network settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.
If that fails, you may possibly have damaged the SIM. Verizon will need to give you a new one.
Best of luck.
