Using apllication jars before weblogic ones

Hi,
we have an old j2ee application based on ADF (version 10.1.3)/TopLink
and need to deploy it on WebLogic (10.3.6). After many trials and errors we
were successfull, but this action was needed - removing library
com.oracle.toplink_1.1.0.0_11-1-1-6-0.jar from weblogic. We were not able
to make our apllication's library toplink.jar (in WEB-INF\lib) be used first.
We tried to modify weblogic.xml on Weblogic server
<container-descriptor>
*<prefer-web-inf-classes>true</prefer-web-inf-classes>*
</container-descriptor>
, tried to deploy our apllication via ear instead of war with
META-INF\weblogic-application.xml:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<weblogic-application xmlns="http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/90">
<application-param>
<param-name>webapp.encoding.default</param-name>
<param-value>UTF-8</param-value>
</application-param>
<prefer-application-packages>
<package-name>oracle.toplink.tools.*</package-name>
</prefer-application-packages>
</weblogic-application>
But application still reports
java.lang.VerifyError: (class: oracle/toplink/tools/sessionmanagement/SessionManager, method: getWASSession signature: (Loracle/toplink/tools/sessionconfiguration/WASXMLSessionConfigLoader;Ljava/lang/ClassLoader;)Loracle/toplink/publicinterface/Session;) Wrong return type in fu...
which means, that still WebLogic version of toplink library is used before application one...
Do you have any other idea, what we must to do ? Thanks

Hi,
What you've tried doing is inducing a filtering classloader..
Have you ensured to add the dependency toplink library in the APP-INF/lib directory ?
As you have set the filtering classloader in the weblogic-application.xml file
If you've set filtering classloader in weblogic.xml, you need to add the dependency library under web-inf/lib directory.
Hope this helps!!
Also share the complete stacktrace of the error if the issue still persists...
Thanks,
Vijaya

    I have checked the server logs and the server is able to receive the request from the client and fetching the required details.
    I am sending these details to the client by adding to a Vector.
    I have observed one more thing, the same is working in other machine which is in another network.
    I have also tried with the other wl*.jar s but giving different exceptions.
    My server classpath consists of weblogic.jar.
    Do I have to include the client jars in my server classpath?
    Please suggest me how to resolve this.
    Please help me here :)

    Thanks for your time, :)
    I have tried all the three wl*client jars, but no use. :(
    Got the same error for wlclient.jar and wlfullclient.jar.
    And for wlt3client.jar I got some different error which is very strange...

The key-column must specify a primary key column in the related bean. However, there is no primary key column named 'productID' defined in the related bean 'ProductEJB' or else 'productID' is not being recognized due to case mismatch. My weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar

    I think u r some confusion with productID and SuppliedID . primary key of one column( productId ) can be a foreign key of other table colum( SuppliedID). but foreign key( SuppliedID) can not be a primary key of second table .u declared SuppliedId as primary key . so ur mapping is incorrect.

  • Upgrading WebLogic 10.0 to use ojdbc5.jar

    I am considering upgrading to ojdbc5.jar in WebLogic 10.0 to go against Oracle 11g.
    1) Is there any reason I should not? Is this supported?
    2) Is it ok to stay on ojdbc4.jar if we're not using the latest JDBC apis?
    3) If it's ok to upgrade, how do I override the ojdbc4.jar since it's referenced in the weblogic.jar manifest without having to edit the file/jar? Change config.xml to something like:
    <class-path>some_path/ojdbc5.jar;some_path/orai18n.jar</class-path>
    4) Also, I've been told to include orai18n.jar, does adding it to the class-path in config.xml include this jar? How do I verify the jar is actually being used?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

    Joe -
    We are facing the following issues: -
    Our setup consists of 1 weblogic home with multiple domains, where each application within the domain uses datasource to connect to different databases. JDBC driver for this datasource is being provided by weblogic's server/lib/ojdbc14.jar file.
    One of the application within a domain need to upgraded to ojdbc5 driver, and that is where we are facing issue. We added ojdbc5.jar and orai18n.jar to our application specific domain/lib directory and update the domain/setDomainEnv.sh with PRE_CLASSPATH entry pointing to the updated jdbc jar locations within domain. I have not deleted / renamed the ojdbc14.jar file under weblogic server/lib directory, since this driver is used by other applications in different domains. When the server starts I do find that the first classpath entry is for ojdbc5.jar and orai18n.jar it is followed by ojdb14.jar entry. I thought that ojdbc5 classes would take precedence, but it doesn't look like its happening and the system is using ojdbc14 classes.
    So is there a way, by which I can, for our domain, not use ojdbc14 jar file without deleting / renaming it from server /lib directory, with the file setup mentioned above?
    Best Regards-
    Dev

  • Ojdbc14.jar - which will use oracle's or weblogic

    Hi - I have a doubt on the JDBC connection. I am seeing ojdbc14.jar in weblogic's path and as well as Oracle's path. But during creating connection pool, which ojbc jar will be used by java application.

    Yes but we're talking an enterprise environment hereOk. But that doesn't change what I said.
    A class is loaded from a 'class path' which is defined from the context of the the class loader.
    IF that context is the VM itself then the first jar wins.
    IF that context is something like the url class loader then the first jar wins.
    IF that context is something like a real custom class loader then it would need to be really odd for it to find some classes in the first jar but skip that same jar to then load classes (that were in the first jar) from the second jar. But even supposing that is the case and the jar is the same jar then there is no functional difference.
    IF the jars are DIFFERENT and it some how loads classes that are incompatible, then that causes problems. As an example.
    1. The second jar contains class A but jar one doesn't and the App calls A.
    2. A (from jar two) calls B which exists in both jars, but will be loaded from the first jar (because it is first.)
    3. B is different in the two jars.
    Given the above it doesn't require any unusual in a class loader to cause a problem either. Any class loader would load the wrong classes in that case.
    With classpath isolation turned on ( = every application runs in its own protected classloader environment) you don't know how many times I saw resources being loaded into two different classloaders and conflicting with each other under JBossNot sure what you mean by 'resource' but of course the classes themselves do not conflict with eash other when loaded into different class loaders. Conversely if there are limited access resources on a computer (such as a dedicated server port) and you load two classes via different class loaders then there will be a problem. But that is because two class loaders are in play and not because of the order in a class path.

  • Use jar file for one servlet in one application (not global in classpath)

    I have a servlet application that needs a jar file to load with one particular servlet. If I put the classpath to the jar file in the jvm12.conf, the servlet loads fine. I can't run it like that, however, since I use another jar file by the same name in a different application. I would like to specify it only with the servlet that needs it. According to the online help file, it says more than one jar, zip, or class file can be specified in the servlet classpath, but that doesn't seem to be the case. We're running iPlanet 4.1. I've tried adding the classpath to the jar file after the classpath for the servlet itself (servlet.properties), but it gives the class not found error for that function. Is there a way to do this? Context.properties, maybe? I can't find any instructions on setting that up.

    You might have better luck asking this question on a web server forum. This is an application server forum and most people here are going to more experienced with iAS.

    I cant seem to find any of the previous fx textures that i used to have before. Including the nature ones such as water, wall and moon textures.

    Please give us some more information: Photoshop version and OS version (First two lines of Help > System Info).
    Did these textures come with your install or are they from a third party?
    How did you access them before? Usually Textures are Presets you load into your Patterns dialog. If you install a new version of Photoshop or Reset Photoshop, you have to go into the Patterns Panel menu and reload them.

    It should have a line describing the actual java command that starts the server, including

  • Problem in using wlclient.jar

    Hi
    I am getting a problem while doing jndi lookup .It's throwing No_permission exeption .
    I have figured out that the problem lies in using wlclient.jar as it uses iiop proptocol inside for lookup .
    We do lookup from several servers .One server needs credentials for lookup and another doesn't need .
    So the problem arises when i do a lookup with no credentials(As it's not required for a particular server) after a lookup with credentials(As it's required for that server) . These two lookups happening in same thread .
    There is no problem occuring while using only weblogic.jar .
    I think here the subject associated with a thread doesn't change when i give no credentials .

  • OamAuthenticator.jar and weblogic server 9.2.3

    Hi all,
    Can anyone please tell whether we can integrate OAM 10.1.4.03 with weblogic 9.2.3 using oamAuthenProvider.jar?
    If so,could anyone please provide any document which contains the steps to be followed for the integration process.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Swathi

    Hard to help you here. JDev 10 used to work with OAS 10g as application server. This does not mean that you can't use Weblogic9.2, but because it is not the default configuration you may have some problems doing this.
    One problem is that you need to install the ADF runtime libraries in the WLS 9.2 server, but there is no installer I know of. You can try to deploy the needed libraries together with your app, but you have to figure out which libraries you need.
    Next thing is that you should deploy an EAR instead of a WAR.

    Hi Vishnu
    Looks like a classloader issue. BEA class loader is very tricky. Any jar added manually in classpath, will end up loading only those classes. Any imports that we have in any of those classes do not get loaded. Anyhow, coming to your point, add classes12.jar inside your portal web project Web-Inf/lib folder and see if that helps. Usually thats where we put all the JARs for 8.1 SPxx applications. If this still breaks, then remove the jar from web-inf/lib folder and add under your portal app App-Inf/lib folder. First try with app-inf/lib folder having this jar. If not then with web-inf/lib. Basically web-inf is specific to that web app only. If you have a different app having this jdbc code, then put under app-inf/lib folder. Make sure that you remove the classes12.jar that you added in classpath either in env variable or in setdomainenv.cmd file.
    When weblogic uses native OCI Drivers, it refers to jars at this location: ....\beawlp814\weblogic81\server\ext\jdbc\oracle\10g or 9g. Try using one of these jars and see if that works. Most of the times I used these jars only for oracle specific native drivers.
    Word of caution. Try to use Connection Pool and a DataSource created in weblogic console for your jdbc code. This Datasource can still use the Oracle drivers that you want (instead of BEA Weblogic wrapper oci drivers) located in above location. Use JNDI Lookup and get Datasource and then connection. This is more recommended approach with many advantages then using DriverManager approach..

    Hie,
              We are facing the same problem; i.e. we are getting the same error message when we are trying to run our struts application on Weblogic 7.0.5 using JDK 1.3.1. This problem occured particularly when we tried to do a load testing using approx 20 concurrent users (a lesser load was supported though). Can you please let us know how this problem was sorted out on your end?
              thanks,

  • Problem using TopLink Grid on WebLogic

    I encountered an error using TopLink Grid with WebLogic.
    I have a servlet that persists an object through TopLink Grid, and then try to retrieve an object. It has the following setup:
    JPA 2.0
    TopLink 11.1.1.4.0
    Coherence 3.6.0.4 (bundled with WebLogic)
    WebLogic Server 10.3.4
    Cache config: Grid Entity
    Method of obtaining EntityManager: Injection of @PersistenceContext
    Transaction Management: JTA
    I put coherence-cache-config.xml and tangosol-coherence-override.xml in /APP-INF/classes in my EAR file.
    I did not use active-cache.jar in my servlet. After the WebLogic server is started, the Coherence cache client is to be launched when the persist operation is called.
    However, found that the insertion fails with error. Only when em.find() is called could the Coherence cache client be launched properly. I find it very strange because toplink grid complains about missing coherence-cache-config.xml when it tries to insert, but is perfectly ok when it tries to do an em.find().
    Has anybody encountered the same issue before?
    The log is: (the lines starting with #### are output by the servlet)
    #### Inserting new dept

    It seems Coherence is unable to load the config files using the application class loader. You could try placing the config files in a location that gives them the same visibility as your PersistenceUnit.

    StackOverflowError when deploying sbConfig.jar in weblogic sbconsole
    Hello,
    We would like to determine the possible causes of the error encountered when importing sbconfig jar in OSB 10gr3. See error message below.
    ####<Jan 12, 2011 11:31:48 AM GMT+08:00> <Error> <ConfigFwk> <crmhpdqvm04> <AdminServer> <[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '12' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <weblogic> <1294803108771> <BEA-000000> <notifyBeforePrepare() failed for listener CoreToSessionPropagator

    This error shows after clicking import, and this prevents us from reaching the activate or submit part.
    We have tried importing using the 3 ways below but the same error above is encountered:
    1. Workshop (publish via OSB - Run As Server, and OSB - Export Resources to Server).
    2. OSB console.
    3. WLST.
    We would like to know what causes this javastackoverflow. Kindly verify also the java mem args set in setDomainEnv (as the issue might be related to java memory):
    MEM_ARGS="-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m"
    export MEM_ARGS
    MEM_PERM_SIZE="-XX:PermSize=48m"
    export MEM_PERM_SIZE
    MEM_MAX_PERM_SIZE="-XX:MaxPermSize=512m"
    export MEM_MAX_PERM_SIZE
    We will appreciate any input you will provide. Thanks.

    I was able to activate the task with no out of memory issue after setting -Xmx to 2048m. The activation took around 25 mins. Not sure if this is just fine.
    I am curious on the error logs below seen during the activation. See below:

  • ClassNotFoundException using Packages / JARs

    I have a program that I wrote that is essentially a remote desktop connection, except that it can control any number of computers that connect to the server program. It simply assumes each computer is setup exactly the same and only uses a screenshot feedback from one of the computers. The following files are involved, and all located in the same directory "RemoteControl"
    Directory: RemoteControl
    RCServer.java   - The server program
    RCClient.java   - The client program
    Resolution.java - Object containing information about the client's resolution
    ScreenShot.java - Object containing a Screenshot of the client's computer
    MyAction.java   - Object that dictates what action needs to be performedWhen the client connects to the server, the server writes a blank Resolution object to the client, which the client completes and sends back to the server. Outside of a package/JAR file, everything works just fine. However, when I add the line
    package RemoteControl;To each of the files above, compile them, and create 2 jar files like so:
    jar -cmf0 manifest.txt RCClient.jar RemoteControl
    jar -cmf0 manifest.txt RCServer.jar RemoteControlWith the manifest containing:
    Main-Class: RemoteControl/RCClientWith the blank line at the end (replace RCClient w/ RCServer when creating the server jar file), the server program starts up just fine, and so does the client portion. However, when the client actually connects to the server, and the server writes the Resolution object, I receive a "ClassNotFoundException". I extract all the files from the newly created JAR files (jar xf RCClient.jar/RCServer.jar) and they contain all the necessary files (and both JARs are identical with the exception of the manifest data).
    Looking at the stacktrace, the only line number it gives (rest are all Unknown Source/Native Method) points to the middle line in the following:
    System.out.println("starting thread loop - before reading object");
    Object tmp = in.readUnshared();
    System.out.println("object was read");And the console output stops at "starting thread loop - before reading object" before printing the stacktrace. Incase needed, in.readUnshared(); is an ObjectInputStream.
    My initial guess was something to do with resources in a JAR file, since in the past, I've had to use "getClass().getResource("images/gifIcon.gif");" to get an image within the JAR file to load during the application, however my research has told me all class files within the JAR are automatically loaded (assuming they are in the same directory at the main class), and that the Class-Path line in a manifest is only needed when you try to access classes within other JARs.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    Brad

    RemoteControl/ShowMessageListener.classShortly after posting this question, I removed all the package declarations and deleted the class files and recompiled and I started getting the NoClassDefFoundError even though the .class file was in the same directory (not using a jar at this point), so I decided to revert back to earlier versions of the files above. When I compiled them and successfully ran them, I repeated the steps outlined in my OP and it started working, even within a JAR file. So, sadly I cannot provide a stacktrace anymore, but my problem's somehow solved.
    Note: The JARs that weren't working had the same output as above, which leads me to believe...
    Other than missing a few JOptionPane debugging prompts, the only possible difference I could think of is perhaps the Resolution object the server and client were using, were in different packages (or more specifically, one was in a package, one was not). Even though I did exactly the steps in my OP, I'm not going to rule out a possibility that somewhere, something wasn't over-written like it was supposed to (since I was compiling both the java files and the jars w/o deleting any previous .class/.jar files).
    And thanks for both the hasty reply, as well as informing me about the -tf option, that's a bit quicker than extracting the files and looking at the structure myself.
