Problem using TopLink Grid on WebLogic

I encountered an error using TopLink Grid with WebLogic.
I have a servlet that persists an object through TopLink Grid, and then try to retrieve an object. It has the following setup:
JPA 2.0
TopLink 11.1.1.4.0
Coherence 3.6.0.4 (bundled with WebLogic)
WebLogic Server 10.3.4
Cache config: Grid Entity
Method of obtaining EntityManager: Injection of @PersistenceContext
Transaction Management: JTA
I put coherence-cache-config.xml and tangosol-coherence-override.xml in /APP-INF/classes in my EAR file.
I did not use active-cache.jar in my servlet. After the WebLogic server is started, the Coherence cache client is to be launched when the persist operation is called.
However, found that the insertion fails with error. Only when em.find() is called could the Coherence cache client be launched properly. I find it very strange because toplink grid complains about missing coherence-cache-config.xml when it tries to insert, but is perfectly ok when it tries to do an em.find().
Has anybody encountered the same issue before?
The log is: (the lines starting with #### are output by the servlet)

It seems Coherence is unable to load the config files using the application class loader. You could try placing the config files in a location that gives them the same visibility as your PersistenceUnit.

  • Problem using Toplink with JUnit

    Hi,
    I have a problem using Toplink with JUnit. Method under test is very simple: it use a static EntityManager object to open a transaction and persists data to db. When I invoke the method from a test method, it gives me the exception:

    Where is the problem???
    Regards,
    Valerio

    EntityFacade class is very simple and it uses a static EntityManager object. Here the code:
    public class EntityFacade {
         private static EntityManager em = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("ElectroManager").createEntityManager();
         private static Logger logger=Logger.getLogger(EntityFacade.class);
         public static void insertCliente(Cliente c)
              logger.debug("Inserisco cliente nel db: " + c);
              em.getTransaction().begin();
              c.setId(getNextIdForTable("Cliente"));
              em.persist(c);
              em.getTransaction().commit();
    If I call the method from inside a main it works well, so I think the problem is not the classpath neither the URL in the persistence.xml. However the URL is:
    <property name="toplink.jdbc.url" value="jdbc:derby:c:/programmi/ElectroManager/db/electroManager"/>
    I use the latest build version of TopLink.
    Thanks.

  • How to handle connection to db problems using toplink

    Hi,
    We need to handle loss of db connection in our application. We use glassfish and toplink essentials (0.22). I suspect that a java RuntimeException is thrown by toplink. This is the code we use to access the db (mysql). The MyServiceImpl class is where I have my EntityManager to access my persistence entities. Is this the place to catch the RuntimeException? How can I handle it. Is it a reconnect I shall add to the code?
    //mike
    @Stateless
    public class MyServiceImpl implements MyService {
    private Logger log = Logger.getLogger(this.getClass().getName());
    @PersistenceContext(unitName = "myservice")
    private EntityManager manager;
    * For unit test, not exposed as a remote method
    * @param entitymanager
    * to use instead of default JTA manager
    public void changeEntityManager(EntityManager em) {
    log.finest("Changing entitymanager for unit test outside EJB container");
    this.manager = em;
    @TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.SUPPORTS)
    public User loginUser(String address, String password) throws LoginFailedException {
    log.finest("Login user " + address);
    return new UserDao(manager).loginUser(address, password);
    @TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.SUPPORTS)
    public String getSystemSetting(Setting setting) throws SettingNotFoundException {
    return new SettingDao(manager).getSystemSetting(setting).getValue();
    }

    I forgot to provide the code we are using to connect.

  • Deadlock in TopLink when using JMS listener on WebLogic

    I am experiencing a deadlock in TopLink 10.1.3 on WebLogic 9 in code that previously worked on TopLink 9.0.4 with WebLogic 8.1. As such, I'm not sure if it's due to the TopLink change, the WebLogic change or both. Anyway, we have a JMS listener (note, NOT a MessageDrivenBean) that is updating an existing TopLink cached domaing object. The JMS listener thread gets stuck when attempting to commit the transaction. The thread-dump shows that there is another thread which is blocked in the ConcurrencyManager waiting to obtain the lock on an object which is being updated by the listener thread. It appears to me that the root cause is that the Synchronization.afterCompletion() listener is running on a different thread than the one which owns the locks which were obtained beforeCompletion.
    See stack traces.
    First, the message listener thread which is waiting for participants in the transaction to commit:

    Is this the same concurrency bug which was fixed in 10.1.3.1??? As I am writing this, I am attempting to build the application with the updated TopLink jar to test for myself. Has anyone else seen this scenario with WebLogic? I should also point out that the problem only occurs when the listener is running on a separate server than the one hosting the JMS queue it reads from. It may be that when the listener runs on the same server, it does not use multiple threads in the transaction.
    Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
    - Bruno

    We've got the same kind of issue with toplink 10.1.3.0.0 and bea weblogic 8.1 SP5.
    I 've not tried with 10.1.3.1.0, did you?
    Do you have a new status for this issue.

  • How to configure WebLogic to use TopLink?

    I am using BEA Workshop to develop a webservice and I am having some issues to make it work. Basically, I am using Toplink plus JAX-WS. The main problem is how to get the EntityManager from the context in order to persist the data into database.
    Here is a piece of code, hope it can help to understand the issue:
    Context ctx = null;
         Hashtable ht = new Hashtable();
         ht.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,

         ht.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,

    EntityManager em = (EntityManager) ctx.lookup("persistence/LogicalName");

  • Problem using myfaces on webLogic

    I run into the problem using myfaces on webLogic 9.1.
    That is... a managedBean's instance is created twice in one page.
    That page is consisted with one <h:inputText> and <h:commandButton>.
    After some tests, we found out that the problems happens in a JSP which has <h:inputText>...
    This problem didn't happen on Tomcat or JDeveloper.
    We tried with another application.
    And oh my goodness, it didn't happen.
    It worked collect with no problems at all.
    The difference between two application is,
    the former managedBean extends abstract class,
    and the latter doesn't.
    Pls help me.....

    It was a program bag rather than weblogic's problem.
    In the program, it deleted all the objects in the session scope.
    So, after JSF render the next JSP, it re-create a managed bean.
    But, I'm still wonder why the same things didn't happen in Tomcat.
    WebLogic put managed bean into the session soon after JSF
    creates it.
    On the otherhand, Tomcat does that after managedbean's action
    is completed???
    Considering the JSF specification, i think weblogic is right.
    Cos,JSF put all the components and related managed bean
    into session, in the rendering phase.
    Thanks for asking anyway.

  • Problems trying to develop a template using Fluid Grid Design

    Having serious problems trying to get a template to work using Fluid Grid Design with Dreamweaver CS6
    I have develop my template with editable regions etc, however when I load it to make an html5 page and preview it on any browser it comes completely blank
    If I do this on an HTML5 document without Fluid Grid it comes out fine.
    I heard this issue is happening to other people as well
    Need to resolve this issue as soon as possible
    Your help will be highly appreciated
    Mike Riego

    Before you create a template, you need to a) properly define a local site folder in DW. And b) test your prototype (Fluid Grid page) to ensure the code is valid and it works in all target browsers/devices.
    When you're completely happy with your prototype page, SaveAs a DW Template and close it.
    DW will create a Templates folder in your local site folder for you.
    1. File > New > Page from Template > select your newly created template from the 3rd panel. Hit Create.
    2. This is a child page spawned from a Template.dwt.
    SaveAs index.html.
    Preview in browsers.  It should work just fine.
    Repeat Steps 1-2 for remaining site pages.

    - I'm getting the same error when I use WLS 6.0 SP1 & thin driver. I'm not
    getting this error when I use thin driver without WLS.
    - This is definitely a bug in WLS. As a workaround put classes.zip {that
    comes with oracle installation} before weblogic.jar in your classpath. This
    way, classloader will load the oracle supplied classes & everything will
    work smoothly

    Write a tiny standalone program that just uses the thin driver

    pool. I
    am using the driver classes that come with the weblogic.jar.
    The problem is as follows:
    I can manage to succesfully do the executeBatch a few
    times..Interestingly
    it
    executes as many no. of times as the Initial capacity(not even maxcapacity) of
    my connection pool.
    Then it gives me the following error:
    java.sql.SQLException: java.sql.SQLException: Missing IN or OUT
    parameter

    This Oracle error has error code 17041.. I could not find more infoon it, even
    from the Oracle site.
    I conclude that the connections are not getting relesed.
    But i ahve written
    con.close(); even
    con=null; (out of desparation :) )
    but still the connection is not released.
    I am getting the connection in the saveSDECData method
    I need to fix thsi problem ASAP..Any Help/Comments will be
    appreciated..
    Finally the most interesting part is :
    executeBatch works perfectly fine with the Statement object..
    so probably the culprit is the PreparedStatement implementation ofOracle..Can
    anybody validate this pls

  • Problem JDBC Connection using OCI Driver on Weblogic Portal on Linux

    Hi Team,
    I want a JDBC connection using OCI Driver in Weblogic Portal 8.1 sp4 on Linux. When I had tested using JDBC connection using Plain Java Code it is working. Also when I create the OCI Connection Weblogic Connection Pool it is working.
    But My Requirement is to create the connection using Java Code in Portal Application
    But When I create OCI connection in the code it is throwing NO SUITABLE DRIVER Found.

         props.put("user","scott");
         props.put("password","tiger");

    Hi Vishnu
    Looks like a classloader issue. BEA class loader is very tricky. Any jar added manually in classpath, will end up loading only those classes. Any imports that we have in any of those classes do not get loaded. Anyhow, coming to your point, add classes12.jar inside your portal web project Web-Inf/lib folder and see if that helps. Usually thats where we put all the JARs for 8.1 SPxx applications. If this still breaks, then remove the jar from web-inf/lib folder and add under your portal app App-Inf/lib folder. First try with app-inf/lib folder having this jar. If not then with web-inf/lib. Basically web-inf is specific to that web app only. If you have a different app having this jdbc code, then put under app-inf/lib folder. Make sure that you remove the classes12.jar that you added in classpath either in env variable or in setdomainenv.cmd file.
    When weblogic uses native OCI Drivers, it refers to jars at this location: ....\beawlp814\weblogic81\server\ext\jdbc\oracle\10g or 9g. Try using one of these jars and see if that works. Most of the times I used these jars only for oracle specific native drivers.
    Word of caution. Try to use Connection Pool and a DataSource created in weblogic console for your jdbc code. This Datasource can still use the Oracle drivers that you want (instead of BEA Weblogic wrapper oci drivers) located in above location. Use JNDI Lookup and get Datasource and then connection. This is more recommended approach with many advantages then using DriverManager approach..

  • Coherence with toplink grid

    Hi All , I am working with J PA coherence using top Link grid i have taken a dynamic web project from eclipse .(My requirement is to my web application is integrating with database in that i am using coherence as well when ever the database got shutdown i have to retrieve  the data from the coherence cache)
    *1.created the JPA dynamic webproject*
    *2.calling entities from the tables(configured the persistence.xml)*
    *3.I have created the jsp file to put the data into the database*
    <%@ page import=" javax.persistence.EntityManager"%>

    <%@ page import= "javax.persistence.Persistence"%>

              emp.setEmpId(101);
              emp.setEmpSummary("my jpa web apps");
              emp.setEmpDescription("????????????");
                   em.persist(emp);
    %>
    Its working fine (Successfully Inserted data into the database)
    After that ihave created another method to get the data from database which i have inserted before...
    code:
    Employee emp1=em.find(Employee.class,116L);
              out.println(emp1.getEmpDescription());
              out.println(emp1.getEmpId());
                   em.getTransaction().commit();

    When accessing the Coherence caches directly using Coherence API you have two options for getting access to the Entity instance. If you are calling from a non TopLink-Grid VM you can set the system property "eclipselink.coherence.not-eclipselink" to "true" and any wrappers will automatically be unwrapped but without any of the relationships populated. An easier mechanism is to cast the result to oracle.eclipselink.coherence.integrated.cache.Wrapper and call "unwrap()" One of the benefits to accessing the wrapper is all of the information for rebuilding the relationships is available.
    As for indexes you can simply add @Property(name="eclipselink.coherence.indexed", value="true") to the @Basic mappings you wish to index. A patch is required see oracle bug 9645880.
    The TopLink-Grid indexes should be compatible with the Coherence ReflectionExtractor if you are using native Coherence APIs.

    Is there anything wrong in entity mappings (I was able to solve my problem with patching of EclipseLink)?
    Thanks in advance
    Denis

    Hi Gordon,
    Thanks for your answer. Actually, I used my own 1-line patch like this (is it wrong?):
    org.eclipse.persistence.descriptors.CMPPolicy
    for (int index = 0; index < pkElementArray.length; index++) {
    KeyElementAccessor accessor = pkElementArray[index];
    DatabaseMapping mapping = getDescriptor().getObjectBuilder().getMappingForAttributeName(accessor.getAttributeName());
    // begin of patch
    if (mapping == null) {
    mapping = accessor.getMapping();
    // end of patch
    Object fieldValue = null;
    if (mapping.isDirectToFieldMapping()) {
    Thanks in advance

    I was able to accomplish this by making the ORBacus jar files into an

    There are no known issues wrt to startup classes that are particular to the HP environment. The only advice I can offer is to make sure that if there are command line parameters that must be passed to the ORB.init call, that you are correctly passing these; to confirm with HP that they support (or

    We tried this on Windows NT 4.0 sp 5 and it worked fine. When we tried it

    After that, I tried setting permissions for the cwallet.sso file to ugo+rwx, but this leads to the same problems as mentioned above.
    My second try was to setup an external WLS 12c, but it seems to be not yet possible to connect to a WLS 12c from within jDeveloper.
    Do you have any ideas ?
    Thank you in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    Robin

    After debugging the WLS Initialisation with jdb, I recognized that there was some trouble with dependent libraries.
    In the end, I solved my problem by using another OS (Ubuntu 11.10) for development. There, the WLS works out of the box, even with 64-Bit libraries.
    Thank you for your help.

  • I have a problem with ALV Grid User Command?

    Hi Experts,
    I have a problem with ALV GRID User Command.
    I am calling TCODE IW33 (Order Display) from the ALV output at first time by selecting an order. But, User command is calling IW33 Initial screen with blank value of order. Even I checked in debugging the value what I selected is passing properly, but once that screen (IW33 Initial) displays, value doesn't appear. Then, Manually, I  created another session and gone to TCODE IW33 and displayed an order. After that I came out from that order. Then again run my ALV program and selected another order, now order is displaying, but not what I selected current order instead of displaying previous order what I just displayed manually. If I selected any other order, system will display the same order what I dislayed manually.
    Here is my code.
    FORM user_command_alv  USING u_ucomm TYPE sy-ucomm
                           us_self_field TYPE slis_selfield.
    CASE u_ucomm.
    WHEN '&IC1'.
    READ TABLE it_final INDEX us_self_field-tabindex INTO wa_final.
            WHEN 'ORDER'.
              IF NOT wa_final-order IS INITIAL.
                SET PARAMETER ID 'COK' FIELD wa_final-order.
                CALL TRANSACTION 'IW33' AND SKIP FIRST SCREEN.
              ENDIF.
    endform.
    PARAMETER ID 'COK'  also the standard one.
    Could you please help me out, Where I did wrong?
    If I select any order, that order only should display.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sarayu.

    hi,
    Please check it once the Paramater ID is 'ANR' for IW33 order number.
    Hope this may help.
