Using BT hub just for landline phone use?

I have a BT hub all connected to BT Broadband, but also have acquired a spare hub and phone. Does anyone know if i can plug this 2nd hub into another phone socket and just use it as a phone hub (landline as opposed to internet phone) and not broadband, because they are great phones and very clear. Or will this **bleep** up my broadband connection through my first hub? Thanks.

You cannot connect two modems/hubs to the same line, but you can connect more phones to your existing hub, and set hub phones to answer landline calls.

I'm about to purchase Lion.  My husband and I each have a desktop, iPad and iPhone.  We currently use one Apple ID for iPad/phone purchases.  Can we purchase 2 copies of Lion with one Apple ID or do we have to use different Apple IDs for the purchase?  If we use the different Apple IDs can we still use the same ID for all of our purchases.

And just in case you were wondering, installing one purchased copy on all the Macs you own is specifically called out as allowed in the Mac OS X Lion license.
If you do not want to download multiple times, just copy the Applications -> Install Lion app to a safe place BEFORE you do the first install.  Then copy that copy to any Mac you own where you want to install Lion.

Is you Gmail address set up in your iCloud account as the primary? Then nothing to do.
If not, you can set it up that way, here: https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
Or just configure iCloud on your phone or your Mac.
On the Mac, iCloud System Prefs, sign in and check the Mail checkbox.

  • How do I use "Find my iPnone" for 2 phones?

My 12 year old has an iphone as do I. How do I use "Find my iPnone" for both phones? He cannot have an itunes account due to his age. My ipad will show the location of my phone but not his. He must use my iTunes account because he is too young for his own. Any suggestions?
    Thanks everyone.

Go into Preferences and set up your MobileMe account on his phone and enable find my iphone. You do not have to enable mail, calendar or contacts (if you have a paid account. If you are using the free service only find my iPhone is available). Then set a restriction password and disable the ability to modify account settings so he can't shut it off.

  • We have two iphones and only one ipad.  We want to be able to use "find my iphone" for both phones, which have separate apple ids.  How do we get our ipad to accept this?

We have two iphones and only one ipad - no mac.  We want to be able to use "find my iphone" for both phones.  How do we get the ipad to accept two iphone accounts?  icloud is enabled on all three devices.

Also, be aware of the following:
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  Something as small as an iPod/iPhone should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

can i use the iphone just for the ipod and wifi without simcard

Forgive me as I did this a while ago, but heres how I remember it happening:
    1. I wiped it
    2. I selected "Set up as New iPhone"
    3. It registered
    4. It was activated, and was an iPod Touch basically
    5. I sold it, so I can't try it. I now use Verizon, so no SIM, although I do have an original iPhone (retired), but can't find my old SIM.

    Hello 84wvu,
It sounds like you want to setup your Airport Express to Airplay music from iTunes.  I found an article with steps to help you get this setup:
Connecting to an existing Wi-Fi network, exclusively for iTunes music
AirPort Express used exclusively for AirPlay by setting it up in Client Mode.
Choose this configuration if the computer containing your iTunes library may be out of direct range of the AirPort Express, but is within range of the Wi-Fi network.
    How to Set It Up
Connect your AirPort Express to your home stereo or powered speakers.
From your computer, join the wireless network. Use the AirPort status menu in the menu bar on a Mac. On a Windows-based computer, hold the pointer over the wireless connection icon until you see your AirPort network name (SSID), and choose it from the list if there are multiple networks available. Enter the network password, if necessary.
Open iTunes on your computer and choose the AirPort Express(es) you wish to stream music through from the speakers pop-up menu in the lower-right corner of the iTunes window.
I also recommend reviewing the sections titled "Some things you should know about AirPort Express with AirPlay" and "Things to consider before you begin" in the full article:

I own both Photoshop Elements and Photoshop (the original editor).  I find the elements editor to be too cumbersome to use and would just like to edit using Photoshop.  When I try to install Photoshop as a secondary editor in elements I get an error message that I don't need to this because it is already supported on the edit menu and task bar.  I can not find any way to send images to Photoshop for editing - all I can do is send them to elements editor or the premier editor.  Can someone tell me how to send them to Photoshop?  Thanks!

    Hi,
The D810 requires Camera Raw 8.6 or later - the latest version that is compatible with Photoshop Elements 12 is Camera Raw 8.5 as far as I can see.
You need to either buy a new version of Photoshop Elements or use the free Adobe DNG converter.

I cannot use my spotify fro my android phone using premium.

Bad move. POP only stores the email wherever it last is checked.  It does not keep anything back at the internet provider unless you tell it to.  IMAP is far better for storing email centralized on the internet provider, and copying it to local folders on your Mac.  The phone likely won't copy it onto itself, if it is an iPhone, as the iPhone uses the same mail as the iPad.  But at least that will keep a backup on the server until you are ready to check it on your Mac.

HDD is a Toshiba 1TB, partitioned into two 500GB partitions.
    OS X version 10.9.2

Yes, sharing a TM disk is a bad idea, and disks are cheap enough so that you don't need to.
    Now
Have you tried to repair the disk yet

  • I already have a router and I'd like to use Time Capsule just for its hard drive capacity right now. Is this possible? It keeps asking me to plug an ethernet cable into it.

So I live with 3 others who already had a router running. So for ease Id like to use this device as purely an external hard drive and occasionally back-up my files and store photos/video etc. Is it possible to use this device strictly for that or do I need to constantly give it an internet connection and back-up over wifi that way...?

Suggest that you consider the option to configure the Time Capsule to "join" the existing wireless network there and backup over the wireless. The Time Capsule functions simply as a wireless hard drive in this type of configuration.
Open AirPort Utility and click Continue to to follow the guided setup to configure the Time Capsule.  Select the "Join a current network" option when it appears and then choose the option to have the Time Capsule "wirelessly join the network" on the next configuration page.
Continue to follow the prompts to complete the configuration.
