Using Clustered Storage on DFS - SQL Server reports insufficient space

We have a Clustered Storage Space setup within our DFS at \\ournamespace\shares\sofs. This server has 9TB of space, but the namespace root has only 100GB. When trying to migrate/restore databases larger than 100GB, SQL server complains about the storage
availability at the \\ournamespace\shares. Is there any way to tell SQL server that the complete path should be evaluated instead?
Our solution to this is to create a new namespace that is hosted by our CSV.

This is my restore command and the resulting error message:
Note here, I'm specifying the full path for the restore location, yet SQL server seems to complain about the "shares" namespace.

  • Use SIA service account for SQL Server reporting connections (BIP4.1)

Is it possible to use the SIA service account as a proxy for a SQL Server connection using OLE DB? This way, anytime a report was refreshed, the SIA service account would be used when authenticating to the reporting database? This is a common pattern in software development to minimize database maintenance (when there is sufficient security being enforced at the application layer - BOBJ provides this).
This would make SQL Server database security management very easy for the DBAs (just add the BOBJ service account to the database and assign dbreader).
I would think this would be an option, but a Relational Connection only provides the following 3 Authentication modes when using the IDT to create and publish a Relational Connection (OLEDB/MSSQL):
    Use BusinessObjects credential mapping
This takes the username and password from the "Database Credentials" section of the BusinessObjects User object for the user in the current session. It passes the info as hard-coded SQL authentication.
Use single sign-on when refreshing reports at view time
This is ONLY for end-to-end single-sign-on (as the error message in the next paragraph specifies) and uses the Windows AD credentials for the user in the current session. It is this method of authentication that I'd like to use, i.e. Windows Integrated Security, but I'd like to have the SIA account act as the account that makes the connection, not end-to-end.
    Use specified username and password
This is for hard-coding usernames and passwords (only SQL authentication in OLE DB).
I've tried leaving the "Cache security context" option OFF in Windows AD Authentication settings, hoping it would default to using the service account for authentication to the database... to no avail. It fails during tests in the IDT with the message:
"Single Sign-On failed in the CMS. Please contact your system administrator for details. : The authentication provider (secWinAD) associated with this logon session does not have inter-process Single Sign-On enabled. Contact your system administrator for details. (FWB 00019)"
Alternatively, a SQL user could be hard-coded into the connection (same simple maintenance on the DBA side), but we'd really like to rely on Windows Integrated Security if possible!
    Is there a way?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hey David,
Did you ever solve this? We get the same SSO error when indexing information spaces in Explorer.

  • How to use Microsoft Excel dll in SQL Server Reporting Services

    Hi,
Can you please explain me the steps to use excel .dll in ssrs

    Hi PrakashThandra,
Based on my understanding, you have created a chart in Excel, then you want to use this chart in Reporting Services, right?
In Reporting Services, it’s not supported to use a chart which created in Excel directly. But we can use Excel as datasource to create a report, please refer to this article:
Create SSRS report using Excel Data Source Step by Step. In your scenario, since you want to use the Excel chart in Reporting Services, you could create a same report in Reporting Services refer to this article:
    Charts (Report Builder and SSRS)
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Can Centura SQL Base Can be Used as a Source for SQL Server Reporting Services

I have bunch of Centura Report Builder and need to show them inside .NET WPF UI. I was thinking to convert those reports to SSRS and then show. But database here is SQL Base
and want to know whether SSRS supports SQL Base as a source. Also let me know is there a way to show Centura Report Builder inside WPF without converting to SSRS.

    Hi JAISH,
In Reporting Services, a set of data processing extensions are automatically installed and registered on both the report authoring client and on the report server to provide access to a variety of data source types. But the SQLBase is not included.
However, custom data processing extensions and standard Microsoft .NET Framework data providers can be installed and registered by system administrators. So we can install and register the data processing extensions and data providers on the report server
to process and view a report; we can install and register them on the report authoring client to preview a report. But data processing extensions and data providers must be natively compiled for the platform where they are installed.
For more information about Implementing a Data Processing Extension, please refer to the following document:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-IN/library/ms154655.aspx
As the issue about how to show Centura Report Builder inside WPF, it related to WPF. It is out of the support boundaries of our forum, I suggestion you post the question in the following forum:

  • How to build a report in web Intelligence using Store procedure under Microsoft SQL Server 2000

    Post Author: ltkin
    CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
    Hi,
How to build a report in web Intelligence using Store procedure under Microsoft SQL Server 2000 ?
    Regards,

    Hi ltkin,
Unfortunately, it is not possible in Xir2 to create Webi reports from stored procedures.
Webi reports can only be created from Universe. So in Business Objects XIR3 we can create a special universe that enables Web Intelligence user's to access stored procedures residing in the database. This is the only way that Web Intelligence user's can access stored procedures.
Please let me know if the above information helps.

  • How to print pdf file in SQL Server Reporting services report using command prompt?

Is there a way to automatically print a SQL Server Reporting services report on command prompt? For eg: We can save a pdf file using rs.exe utility. I want to print a pdf using rs.exe utility. Is it possible? I don't want to install any 3rd party software.

Thanks Simon for replying to my question.
In oracle form, there is oracle command to print the report from command prompt with the help of rwrun.exe
    e.g: rwrun.exe   REPORT="D:\Test\REP_25\MLA.REP" DESNAME="testprinter" DESTYPE="PRINTER" P_FORMNAME="MLA.FMX" P_SPRACHE="E" P_SPRACHE_NR2="1" P_WHERE_BEDINGUNG="order by land_nr" USERID="test/test.world" PSV_NAME="PSV_DEMO" PSV_JOB_ID="PS$9583" RECURSIVE_LOAD="NO"
    BATCH="YES" NONBLOCKSQL="NO" ARRAYSIZE="1" PARAMFORM="NO" ERRFILE="c:\temp\psv16.tmp"<
and to save the report we just need to change DESNAME="c:\temp\OC_100001349.pdf" DESTYPE="FILE" in above command instead of DESNAME="testprinter" DESTYPE="PRINTER".
DESNAME and DESTYPE are the input parameters of the respective report.
In SSRS, we can run the file from the command prompt and save it.
    rs -i "C:\Users\pujarswa\Documents\reports\new\LoadReport.rss" -s ww2004760:80/ReportServer_MSSQL -v fileName="C:\Users\pujarswa\Desktop\TipsReportLoad.pdf"
    -v reportPath="/TipsReport/LoadListTabular" -t -v format="PDF" -v LandNr=4 -u ap\swati -p test@# -e Exec2005
But we cannot use same command for printing as you said we need to create another script for printing files.
I have gone through the links but I dont want to use Adobe Acrobat Reader exe for printing because client it may not have Adobe Acrobat Reader on their machine.
Also I want to pass a input parameter as type="Printer" to my report which will print directly for me and same I can acheive in command prompt passing type="Printer" fileName="C:\Users\pujarswa\Desktop\TipsReportLoad.pdf"

  • Use parameters in SQL Server reporting services with sharepoint lists

I want to make report from sharepoint 2010 list and forms library in sql server reporting services.
but also want to apply parameters.
I tried but parameters but it is not working.
How I can apply sharepoint lists parameters in sql server reporting services ?
How to run or view report of sharepoint lists or form library in sqlserver reporting services with required parameters?

    Hi John,
When we use SharePoint list as datasource in SSRS it has two method to add parameter. Suppose we have a dataset (DataSet1) get data from SharePoint list. Please refer to the methods below.
Method 1: We can add parameter in the Query Designer dialog box to add parameter.
Click “Add Filter” icon in the “Applied filters” dialog box in Query Designer.
Select the corresponding field (Title), fill with specific conditions, and select Parameter option in the end of the row.
Create a dataset (DataSet2) fill with Title field.
Double click the parameter we create above, set the available values from DataSet2 field Title.
(Note: In the situation, we are get the single-value parameter.)
Method 2: It is a general method to add parameter in SSRS report.
Create another dataset (DataSet2) in the report fill with Title field.
Add a parameter (Title) get available values from DataSet2 Title field.
    Add filter in the DataSet1.
(Note: This method, we can configure multi-values parameter.)

  • QSUF (Query string url filter) and SQL Server reporting services report viewer parameters

    Hi,
    this is my issue:
I have a SQL Server reporting services web part on a page with a report with 1 parameter, lets say it's a client list
Then i have a QSUF that will be used to filter the clients list through the URL
However, once i connect the filter and the report viewer web part, the parameter goes away and is no longer accessible
I'd like to somehow keep the parameter visible, in case there is no parameter sent through the URL, i would like the user to be able to choose a client from the parameter drop down list
I saw that there is a "send empty if no values are passed" option, but i can't seem to get this working properly and i don't know if this option will make the parameter visible again
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that the query string url filter web part not worked well with SQL server reproting services web part.
Did you use the Wiki page layout in your environment?
You can change the page to a web part page, then check whether it work.
There is a similar thread for your reference.

  • Unable to insert sql server reporting services report viewer webpart

    Hello,
We are trying to add a SQL Server Reporting Services Report Viewer and when we click add we get the following error message
The file you imported is not valid. Verify that the file is a Web Part description file (*.webpart or *.dwp) and that it contains well-formed XML.
Does anyone know what the fix to this is?

    Hi,
The Report Viewer Web Part is a custom Web Part that is installed by the Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products and associated with report definition (.rdl) files that are processed by a Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services report
    server.
To install the Web Part, you must run Setup for the Reporting Services Add-in. You should not install or uninstall the Web Part independently. It is part of the add-in and can only be installed through the add-in setup package. The Report Viewer Web Part
file name is ReportViewer.dwp. It is located in the Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\15\template\features\reportserver folder and should not be moved to other folders.
To use the Web Part, you must have installed and configured the Reporting Services Add-in and configured the report server for SharePoint integration.
