Using DADs in APEX in Oracle Database Cloud

Hi,
How is it possible to call procedures via DAD like the following?
https://database-trialaxyz.db.us1.oraclecloudapps.com/apex/XYZSCHEMA.xyz_package.xyz_proc?p_param1=123&p_param2=999
Hence request path contains the procedure call.
Thanks a lot for your advice.
Karin

Karin,
That is not possible on the database cloud. Your procedure would have to be authorized to be called (which it won't be on the cloud) and your procedure would need to be able to be publicly executable, which also is not allowed on the cloud.
What you could do is create a RESTful service in SQL workshop that would accept your desired parameters, and then turn around and invoke the procedure using those parameters.

Jason

  • Network security with Oracle Database Cloud Service

    Does the Oracle Database Cloud service support SSL? Or, any form of network encryption/authentication between a client and the service across the Internet?

    Thank you Rick. I'm intending to use Oracle Database Cloud Service as a "Database-as-a-Service", however I have read that it is actually more of a "Platform-as-a-Service" offering.
    What I would like to do is to interact with the Oracle Database Cloud Service via a local JDBC client. However, from further reading, it looks like the only way to interact with the Oracle Database Cloud Service from a non-Oracle-cloud-based client is via its RESTful web services (which, as you said, support SSL).
    That is to say, I cannot simply connect to the Oracle Database Cloud Service from a local client just through JDBC alone. It looks like I would have to configure my client to make the relevant RESTful web service calls instead, and likewise configure my settings on the Oracle Database Cloud Service to make the necessary translations (from REST to SQL).
    Just to finally clarify, is my above understanding correct?

  • I want to resell Oracle Database Cloud Service. What are the criteria to do so?

    In order to resell Oracle Database Cloud Service, partners need to meet the following criteria:
    Be a Gold, Platinum, or Diamond member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork in good standing with a valid OPN Agreement.
    Have a valid Full Use Program Distribution Agreement (FUDA) with Oracle, or be in the process of applying for one.
    Have a valid Cloud Services Distribution Addendum (CSDA) or be in the process of applying for one.
    For questions about the criteria, how to apply for OPN, FUDA and CSDA please contact the Oracle Partner Business Center via phone, email or chat. The social media service also is available on Twitter at @OrclPartnerBiz
    Thank you.

    You can (using database links), but this will generally result in even poorer performance (unless by "another Oracle database" you mean using RAC?)
    It sounds more like you either need to upgrade your systems, or refactor your applications to have a smaller performance footprint.

  • GetConnection from Oracle Database Cloud Service

    I created a table at the internal JCS instance, and tried to create a web service to insert the data into the table. It's a simple insert operation, so I prefer to coding it without JPA or ADF business component.
    So far, the web service works, but it can't connect to database service.
    Here is my code snippet of the web service method which deployed on JCS, and the jndi name is database,
            try {
                Context ctx = new InitialContext();
                DataSource ds = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("database");
                conn = ds.getConnection();
                String sql = "insert into bvrequest(user_id,activity) values(?,?)";
                pstmt = conn.prepareStatement(sql);
                pstmt.setString(1, userid);
                pstmt.setString(2, activity);
                pstmt.executeUpdate();
                return "OK";
    The thrown exception is,
    weblogic.jdbc.extensions.PoolLimitSQLException: weblogic.common.resourcepool.ResourceLimitException: No resources currently available in pool database to allocate to applications, please increase the size of the pool and retry..
    Is it a correct way to use Database Cloud Service? Any suggestion/comment is welcome.
    -Paula

    Hi Paula -
    I think you need to ask this question in the Java Cloud Service forum.  If you are trying to make a connection to a Database Cloud Service from Java outside the Oracle Public Cloud, you cannot do it with JDBC.  You can only use RESTful Web Services from outside the Oracle Public Cloud to access the Oracle Database Cloud.
    Hope this helps.

    Thanks very much for any help with this.

    * Consider putting parentheses around the 3 oracle tables so the 3 of them can possibly be treated as a unit.  Assuming there's some performance impact due to the linked server, this MIGHT help, may do a little joining over on the Oracle side of
    the world.  In either case, it's a little cleaner.  They syntax below, including a few extra line breaks for clarity, should be correct.  (try the change to the ON clause suggested above too, though).
    The parentheses will not help much. SQL Server will remote (as the term is) the query to the Oracle instance if this appears to have a lower cost and there is nothing the blocks remoting.
    On the other hand, OPENQUERY can be an alternative to ensure that this happens:
     left outer join
        OPENQUERY (linknametooracledb,
                   'SELECT ...
                    FROM   "M01Tab01_Main" mn
                    JOIN   "M01Tab06_Ord" mt ON mn."Master_Recid_1" = mt."Master_Recid_1"
                    JOIN   "M01Tab09_Dx" mdx on mn."Master_Recid_1" = mdx."Master_Recid_1"') mn on td.visitnumber = mn."Pt_Acct_5"
    But this presumes that you there are no columns from the SQL Server side that are used to select data from the Oracle side. That is, the above could lead to far much data being brought across the wire.
    Then again, this does not really seem to relate to the original problem where a stored procedure was not working at all. That problem is not very easy to assist with since code post is the not the authentic code as pointed out in the thread. For instance
    inner JOIN linknametooracledb."M01Tab06_Ord"
    Has nothing to do with Oracle, but accesses a table in the schema linknametooracledb.
    I think to help dmcm, you need a really good crystal ball - at least as long he/she does not share the actual code.

  • What commands used for taking backup of oracle database using BR*Tools

    Can somebody please help me urgently to know what are the commands used for taking backup of oracle database using BR TOOLS.Also specifythe commands in detail which can be used for taking backups of oracle database ,Online Redo log files in databse using BRBACK tool,Archiving of offline, redo log files using BRARCHIVE, and Restoring a Database using BRRESTORE tool Commands(Plese specify the commands with their Syntax used).Also specify the commands with their Syntax which are used for taking backup of oracle database(online,Offline redo log files) into Tapedrives using BRTOOLS commands.
    Thanking You for helping (in advance).

    Dear Ashish,
    BRBACKUP / BRARCHIVE calls the operating system command to copy the files.
    Simple approach to get the commands is as follows.
    1. Set the BR_TRACE (as given in the SAP note 29321) and run the command for which you need to know the OS / SQL commands.
    2. This will generate the log file with the trace information. This trace has the information of the commands used by the job you have run.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
    Could you try the following command ? Seems like some dependent Windows DLL is not being loaded..
    sbttest foo -libname <abs-path-of-directory>\oraopc12.dll
    This will output the reason why oraopc12.dll can't be loaded.

  • APEX without Oracle database?

    Can you run apex without an oracle database?

    Apex is a tightly integrated application development environment based largely around PLSQL. It is included in Oracle 10 XE so is a great free solution for small to medium scale applications. Its pretty straight forward to migrate to Apex from Excel, Access, SQL Server and Oracle Forms. Or you can use database links to pull heterogenous data from other database systems into oracle. For example, I recently developed an application pulling JD Edwards data, with a SQL Server backend, into an oracle XE instance.
    So it doesn't matter where the original data is, you just need to have a free oracle XE instance in the mix. I would also suggest that if the app out grew XE's limitations it would most likely be significant enough to justify the cost of a license for a more beefy version of oracle.

    Find the hostname and service name of the database and use those values in the ORA_CON_DB constant.
    Use 'lsnrctl status' on the database host to find the service name.
    If you use a "tns" alias, you may need to create a tnsnames.ora file where PHP can access it.
    Set the environment variable TNS_ADMIN (on Linux) to the directory containing the file.

    This blog post provides a suggested methodology for helping users of VMware vROps/vCOps decide which of the existing solutions, the vROps Management Pack for Oracle EM and the VMware vROps Hyperic Plugins for Oracle, should be used to monitor their Oracle workloads.
    It’s been a nearly a year since VMware transferred the vCOps Adapter for Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) to Blue Medora and since that transfer Blue Medora has released a number of major updates as well as rebranded it the Blue Medora vROps Management Pack for Oracle EM. Over that same period of time VMware has continued to evolve their Oracle-focused (Oracle Database and WebLogic J2EE) Hyperic agent-based plugins culminating most recently with a October 2014 update to the Oracle Database plugin that provides support for Oracle Database 12c.

  • Apex with Oracle Database Vault

    Can someone point me to some document/whitepaper that describes how to setup Apex to work with Oracle Database Vault?
    My understanding is that data in tables secured by Vault's realms is not accessible even to DBAs (select any table) which is great. But how that does impact Apex applications? The data would have to to be accessible to the app's parsing schema. So unauthorized users can still gain access to the data via the Apex app instead of direct database access. Does Apex provide for tighter integration with Vault to prevent this sort of access?
    Thanks

  • Is there a way to terminate Oracle Database Cloud Service - S5 service?

    Hi All,
    I'm having a very terrible situation here. I have been trying to terminate my database cloud service but nobody in Oracle sale team or support team are able to do it. I spoke to a guy from sales team and he forwarded my call to a guy in support team which he said he'll do it and gave me a reference number. A few weeks later I got an email from a billing department asking me to pay the amount that was due. I explained to him the situation and got no words back from him. Guess what! today I checked my bank account and found that Oracle has taken the payment from me!
    I'm furiously angry with Oracle! It seems that there is no escape from the cloud service!  the customer service is terrible and there seems no co-ordinations between different departments.
    I really appreciate for your help as I dont who I should and can speak to.
    Cheers,
    Syaifuddin

    Not good to hear.... I hope it has been resolved by now.
    However, in case of such an event, which will not happen to often, you can always request your bank to block this until the situation has been resolved. In esscece this should not happen however I can imagine that in a very unlikely scenario this could happen.
    Hope Iloon Wolff-Oracle has been able to resolve this for you.
