Using Data Reference As A Component In Dictionary Structure

Dear Experts,
As we all know, we can define a generically typed data reference by using the statement below:
DATA ref_data TYPE REF TO data
Also, as we all know, we can create a structure in global dictionary with a component of type of reference to data by checking the RType check box when defining the structure. My question is, what component type should I use (choose from the Component Type column when defining the structure) if I want the structure's component as a generically typed data reference?

Create a data element as a reference type, and use the name "Data". Create the field with the type of the data element.

Date range using "Date Field" from basic component

Hello Everyone,
I have been trying to create date range option available on the dashboard based on 2 Date Filed component.
Backend for this Dashboard is BW with using BEx query. I have a info object (Z_Date)
Now I want to have 2 date box using Date Field component 1. Start Date 2. End Date.
I have tried following
1. Start Date - on Select
DS_1.setFilter("Z_Date", {"low":StartDate.getDate()});
2. End Date - on Select
DS_1.setFilter("Z_Date", {"High":EndDate.getDate()});
both the scripts do not have any problem but it doest work as it is suppose to be.
I have also tried based on following How to write script for DATE Range
But no luck so far.
Please share if any one have achieved date range working as mentioned.

1. Start Date - on Select

Or
Select Dates First Then Provide a Button (Done) .
And write code On Click Event of that Button

Internal table with data reference variable as component

Hi
i have a below structure and itab in my program and i have the issue mentioned below..
Data: begin of wa,
          col1 type i,
          col2 type ref to data,
        end of wa.
data itab like table of wa.
create data wa-col2 type p decimals 2.
Now my requirement is to fill the work area wa and append it to the table.
i have used field symbols and references but i am not sucessful as the value of wa-col2 is getting overwritten by the field symbol and it is not accomodating distinct values.

when i loop through itab the colum wa-col2 only contains 456.78 for both the records. the value 123.45 that i have passed for the first record is lost. how can get the values 123.45 for first record and 456.78 for the second record using this technique.

Using data dictionary in PL/SQL

What people think about using data dictionary in PL/SQL witch supposed to be used for a long time (selects, type declarations and so on)?
Oracle does not guarantee data dictionary names will be same forever.
Is it a good idea to restrict the using of this in the Development standards?

The reason I open this thread I am trying to improve the Development Standards
My attempt was to restrict using SELECT FROM Data Dictionary if it is possible.

Used "Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto" now my video files in iPhoto have an error message "A necessary data reference could not be resolved."

As the title states, I used the app "Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto" to get rid of 6 GB of duplicate pictures. However, now when I go to view a video in iPhoto, I get the error message "A necessary data reference could not be resolved." I am able to view the video clips (with sound, etc.) in Finder. However, I want to know if there is a way to restore them in iPhoto?????

I see that the suggested solution is to restore from back-up... is there anyway to do that without bringing in ALL of the duplicate photos I just deleted?

Try going back to QuickTime 7.4, we've seen the same problem occur with the 7.5 update. How did you make the .mov file that plays all of the files? For us, the problem shows up with reference movies (such as that .mov) made on a Mac, but works fine if it is created on Windows.

Even if you don't plan to use the declarative component anywhere else, you should pass the model reference as an input attribute to the declarative component so it can be configured by each use of the component

In ABAP/4 programs, field symbols are placeholders for existing fields. A field symbol does not physically reserve space for a field, but points to a field, which is not known until runtime of the program. Field symbols are comparable to the concept of pointers as used in the programming language C. In ABAP/4, however, there is no real equivalent to pointers in the sense of variables, which contain a memory address and can be used without the content operator. You can only work with the data object to which a field symbol points.

Sometimes you only know which field you want to process, and how you want to process it, at runtime.
For this purpose, you can create field symbols in your program. At runtime, you can assign real fields to such field symbols. All operations, which you have programmed with the field symbol, are then carried out with the assigned field. After successful assignment, there is no difference in ABAP/4 whether you reference the field symbol or the field itself.
Field symbols can point to any data object in ABAP/4 and to structures defined in the ABAP/4 Dictionary.

Therefore, you should use field symbols only in cases where you are absolutely sure of what you are doing, or if there are no other ABAP/4 statements you can use to solve your problem. The advantage of field symbols is that they can improve response times in some cases.

SSO to R/3 using a reference system

I try to setup SSO between a EP6 SP2 and a R/3 4.7. I configured the backendsystem correctly because SSO works if the users have the same user id (tried it using WinGUI). In my case the user ids between ActiveDirectory and SAP differ, so I have to use a reference system. I configured it in the UME settings and now my users can personalize their user ids, but when they click on save an error message appears that a problem occured. In the log file it says:

Currency Translation Using 'Time Reference'

Hey Experts,
Quick question.
Has anybody had experience performing the planning function 'Currency Translation' <b>BUT</b> using the 'Time Reference' field.
My goal is to have it translate the currency based on Fiscal year/period, using the fiscal 'year/period END' to determine the translation date.
However in the paremeter group for currency translation, when I click on the 'Time reference' Drop-down button to select, it's blank, and give me no choices to pick anything. Have I missed something here? Are there any other prior steps I've ignored?
I already have the fiscal year/period characteristic defined on my level.. and I've defined my 'Targ.Curr' as USD.
I can't find much documantation except for the basic help button, but that doesn't really say much.
Any advice..?

If I understand you correctly, am I then to assume using the Fiscal year/Period '0FISCPER' will not work. The F1 help say it should.
And are you saying if I use Fiscal year '0FISCYEAR' and/or Posting Period '0FISCPER3' instead, it should work by giving me the option of choosing the start or end of these two fields when I click on the drop-down of the Time Reference??
The way I have this defined is as follows.
At the level I have both:
Fiscal year/Period '0FISCPER' -> 001/2006 to 012/2007.
Fiscal year '0FISCYEAR' -> 2006 to 2007.
In my Paramter Group I have the following definition:
Target Key Figure: Value in Object currency
Source Key Figure: Value in CO Currency
Exch.Rate: 001P
Char.Target.Crcy: Currency
Curr,Date: Is currenctly Flagged, but will remove it once I have the Time Reference field working.
At the Planning area, I have a characteristic relationship defined as a derivation using 'Type' reference data, whereby the Fiscal year (0FISCYEAR) is referenced from the Fiscal year/Period (0FISCPER), and the Posting period (0FISCPER3) also references the Fiscal year/Period (0FISCPER) that are currently stored in my transactional cube.
Based on the above, I still don't get anything to choose from when I click on the drop-down for the 'Time Reference' field in the currency translation.
If you could perhaps do some screen dumps of the level you defined, characteristic relationship, as well as how u defined the parameter group, that may help.

How to use data from standard view in Web dynpro for ABAP

Hi Rodrigo,
Firstly, list the Standard component under Component Usage of the Component which you are creating in your View.
Second, In the Custom Component, view, goto context, and try to add the node from the Standard component in to your view.
NOTE: The second step requires a Node in component controller of the Standard Component.
Finally, Now in your view, get the data from that and map the data.
NOTE: To do this, I think you need to call your Standard WDA first and then only your node contains data and it will be passed.

Ext. data source and Tree component

Im using tree component and XMLConnector here.
as far as i can see results in my tree (when testing my
movie) it ouputs data thats loaded fom ext. XML file.
But the problem is that it publishes [type Function] in the
tree.
no actual xml nodes are visible, just bunch of [type

ive also searched for info / tutorial how to publish actual
xml data in the tree component but without any luck.
So what should i do and how ?

Can you place text from a word document using data merge?

I'm working with a charity that is giving away scholarships/grants. I need to create a ducument that pulls in various application data plus their submitted essay (docx format). I would like to do this via data merge but cannot find any reference if it is possible.
Please help, I really need to automate as much as possible since this is a side project.

Data merge only collects info from CSV format - which I expect you would export from Excel. (I think it'll take tab-delimited as well, but that's it.)
MS Word files can be placed, but Data Merge is not the tool to automate placing of Word-file content. If there is no formatting of their essays, I suspect you could use VBA to cause entire essays to occupy a single cell in Excel. But that would be the only way to use Data Merge to automate import of essays into InDesign.
Maybe if you tell us more we can give you some more automation suggestions. (I spend a lot of time automating translation workflows, but I still place Word files. All day long, in fact.)

What is use of Reference object in BW

Hi All,
I have a small doubt about use of Reference object.Since reference object uses same database table of referenced object and also we can not load data in this.Only loaded data in Referenced object will be available in newly created reference object.
Also if we create more than 2 objects referencing the same object and used them in InfoProvider then what is use of these objects in that infoprovider whether they have same data and also all properties.
For example if we have created two objects u2018Sender Cost Centeru2019 and u2018Receiver Cost centeru2019 referencing the same object u2018Cost Centeru2019 and used them in an InfoCube.
Then what is use of these objects whethet they are refering same database table of u2018Cost Centeru2019.And how we can differentiate them during Reporting.

in cube, u've SIDs for MD... so when u read the details for say PONo 101, u pick sender SID & receiver SID & read details from master data table...
other example:
u r working somewhere.. u have employee ID & ur other details like name, address... all these get store in 0employee master data..
when in HR module ur salary is generated, salary module will hold only ur employee ID.. but from ur ID other details u can get.. rite?
same way leave module will have ur Id.. & it can get details bout ur leave & address...
both is true for ur manager.. but when ur leave is to be approved.. ur manager ID is required...when ur manager apply for leave his managerID is used.. all this get store in same leave module..

We are enhancing WD component. We need to get a reference of WD component in custom class of enhanced View controller (post exit) so that popups can be triggered or URLs can be called?. How should we get reference of WD component? I need to know cons of our approach.

Create one static attribute in your custom class with type ref to of your component and populate this attribute in webdynpro enhancement and then use this reference in your custom class.
