USING DB-LINK FROM CLIENT-PC CAUSES ORA-03113
I created a DB-LINK from my production server "PROD" (8.0.5.0.0) to another server "IMAG" (8.0.5.0.0).
The name of the DBLINK is "IMAG".
If I open SQL-Plus session within the PROD Server the DBLINK works fine, i.e:
SELECT * FROM SCOTT.EMP@IMAG
but when I'm logged on a Client-PC with a SQL-Plus session and run the same query receive the error ORA-3113.
My Client-PC has W2000 Standard Edition.
I stopped the LISTENER on PROD Server and then start it.
The first time I logged on the Client-PC with a SQL-Plus session (after start the LISTENER) the DBLINK works fine, when I close the SQL-Plus session and open it again and try to run the query it fails again.
I'll appreciate any help you can give to me.
Thanks.
Hi Kamal,
In the Alert.log file I found an ORA-02019 error, I dont know what do you mean with "trace file", Is there any other log file instead Alert.log?
Thanks.

Problem with using database link from oracle 7 to oracle 9i
Hi To Every One
I have two oracle database oracle 7.3.4.0.1 and oracle 9i 9.2.0.1.0.
and the tns alias to connect to oracle 9i database is oracle9i and tns
alias to oracle 7 database is oracle7.I have no problem in connect to
these database using these tns aliases from either database.The tns
alias for oracle 7 is available in tnsnames.ora file of oracle9i and
tns alias for oracle 9i is available in tnsnames.ora file of oracle 7.
So there is no connection problem from each other.Connection is
working fine for each other but the problem with database links is
like this
Problem:
when i create database link from oracle9i user or public database link
from oracle9i for oracle7 user like this
SQL ORACLE9I >CREATE DATABASE LINK ORACLE7 CONNECT TO <ORACLE7USER>
IDENTIFIED BY <PASSWORD> USING 'ORACLE7';
OR
SQL ORACLE9I >CREATE PUBLIC DATABASE LINK ORACLE7 CONNECT TO <ORACLE7USER>
IDENTIFIED BY <PASSWORD> USING 'ORACLE7';
The links get created sucessfully but when i write command like
SQL ORACLE9I> DESC <ORACLE7USER_NAME>.<ORACLE7USER_TABLENAME>@ORACLE7
I RECEIVE A ORACLE ERROR LIKE
ORA-12663 SERVICE REQUIRED BY CLIENT IS NOT AVAILABLE ON THE SERVER.
OR IF MY COMMAND IS LIKE
SQL ORACLE9I> SELECT <FEILD_NAME> FROM
<ORACLE7USER_NAME>.<ORACLE7USER_TABLENAME>@ORACLE7;
I RECEIVE AN ORACLE ERROR LIKE
ORA-01002 FETCH OUT OF SEQUENCE.
ORA-02063: preceding line from ORACLE7
BUT IF I CREATE A LINK FROM ORACLE7 USER FOR ORACLE9I USER
IT WORKS FINE.
PLZ HELP ME WHAT IS THE PROBLEM THAT THE LINK FOR ORACLE 7 IS NOT WORKING WHEN
IT IS BEING CREATED FROM ORACLE9I.
Thank u.Oracle 9.2.0 does not support connectivity to Oracle 7. The newest version that will support this is 9.0.1.

How to use KeyChain API from client-side HTML scripting in Safari on iPad?
I have a requirement where I need to add client-side scripting in an HTML page to be supported by Safari on iPad that creates a private / public key pair and that creates a CSR (Certificate Signing Request) in PKCS#10 or SPKAC format that can be sent to a certification authority server using form HTTP/POST that will then return the generated certificate.
I initially thought that I could simply use the HTML 5 tag <keygen> which can do exactly what I need, but unfortunately this tag is not at all supported on mobile Apple devices like iPad or iPhone, so I have to look for another solution.
I have noticed that the KeyChain tool should be available on iPad using the documented API, but I have no idea based on the documentation whether the API can be called from client-side HTML scripting on iPad.
Question : is it technically possible using the functionalities and API's exposed on an iPad to implement what I just described in HTML client-side scripting? If so, do you have some links with useful information that can help me on my way?I have a requirement where I need to add client-side scripting in an HTML page to be supported by Safari on iPad that creates a private / public key pair and that creates a CSR (Certificate Signing Request) in PKCS#10 or SPKAC format that can be sent to a certification authority server using form HTTP/POST that will then return the generated certificate.

Speedgrade erratic cursor bug using dynamic link from PP
I'm on the latest version of CC (2014) running two subscriptions (one for work and one for freelance projects) both have developed an erratic cursor fault. Both are running Windows 7 (64 Bit) with pretty powerful machines. My process to get the fault is as follows:
Working on a PP timeline - use direct link to speedgrade - work up some clips using the sliders and colour wheels - about 5-10 mins into using speedgrade my cursor begins to act erratically. The cursor will jump off a colour wheel / slider and change values at will. I have to shut down and restart to get the software back again. As this is happening across two machines, completely separate to each other I'm a bit worried this isn't just a one off.
I have reported this to Adobe via the bug page but has anyone else had this issue?

The file that just transcoded? Or only if I make a change?
That's not an error; it's just an advisory that the length of your video and/or audio streams has been trimmed, or the location of your chapter points have been adjusted. If the transcoded version behaves like you want on a burned disc, then you can safely ignore the message.
The transcode is safe until you make a change, or do something else major like moving folders and assets around.

Dirty connections from pool? via ORA-03113
hi,
i've a fairly standard 3 tier setup with CMP beans and an Oracle server.
Its WL6.1 SP4 talking to Oracle 9.0.1 using jdriver. As part of a
failover test scenario I do the following;
startup DB & weblogic
run test to create some data via CMP - the test also uses some non bean
code to do direct SQL based on a connection retrieved form the WL pool
(new InitialContext, JNDI lookup etc)
test passes and all is good
shutdown and restart db leaving WL in place
run the test again and code that only uses EJB and CMP sucessfully
writes to the DB, but the app level SQL code that retrieves the
connection form the pool manages to create a conn and a statement but
the executeQuery throws the following;
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
at weblogic.db.oci.OciCursor.getCDAException(OciCursor.java:240)
at weblogic.jdbc.oci.Statement.private_parse(Statement.java:826)
at
weblogic.jdbc.oci.Connection.prepareStatement(Connection.java:733)
at
weblogic.jdbc.pool.Connection.prepareStatement(Connection.java:305)
at
weblogic.jdbc.rmi.internal.ConnectionImpl.prepareStatement(ConnectionImpl.java:135)
at

at weblogic.kernel.ExecuteThread.execute(ExecuteThread.java:139)
at weblogic.kernel.ExecuteThread.run(ExecuteThread.java:120)
I'm guessing that the socket in the pooled connection is bad due to the
DB restart. The only reason I can see the EJB code working is if the CMP
code traps the error and retries somehow. This feels really bad as that
means the responsibility to manage the connections state is above the
pool level rendering it useless to me.
To recap I dont understand why the EJB/CMP code works and the raw SQL
over a connection retrieved from the pool fails.
Any help much appreicated.

Joe,
Thats what i have observed too. However, i had written a test standalone
java client which created global DS & Conn objects in its
init/constructor... and then in an infinite while loop, i was using a
PreparedStatement to execute a "select * from dual" dummy query every 60
seconds using the "cached" global connection object. In between i : a)
Recycled/Bounced the DBMS and b) Invoked the weblogic.Admin CLI command
to explicitly reset the conn pool. And this DID work ! even though the
conn was held by app all along and NOT released back to the pool during the
recycling. I had the test table, test on reserve, and prepared statement
cache settings enabled on the pool. Does this mean that the PS cache was
sorta .. fooling me and it wasnt a fresh DB lookup each time after we
recycled ?I believe the refresh doesn't change the reserved-unreserved status of the
pooled connections, but it should reset the statement cache of the connection.
This is interesting. If the prepared statement you're using was not cached, it
would have been closed, but I'm wondering if your long-running (holds
connections across client-WLS calls) may cause a reference to a defunct
statement to be retained...

Simple Spatial Query caused ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
I try to run a simple spatial query to find the ID's which inside the specified circle
select n.ID,n.FEATURE_ID
from NC_MANGROVE n
where sdo_relate(n.shape,
mdsys.sdo_geometry(2003,null,null,
mdsys.sdo_elem_info_array(1,1003,4),
mdsys.sdo_ordinate_array(848948,834940,848908,834980,848908,834900)),
'mask=ANYINTERACT querytype=WINDOW')='TRUE';
but it end up of ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
Then I try another query, which I think do the similar thing
select n.ID,n.FEATURE_ID
from NC_MANGROVE n
where sdo_within_distance(n.shape,
mdsys.sdo_geometry(2001,null,mdsys.sdo_point_type(848908,834900,null),null,null),
'distance=40')='TRUE';
but same error occurs.
Is it the SQL*net configure problem. I am using Oracle 8.1.7 for both client and server.
Please help
TommyDoes SDO_FILETER Queries work fine? If so there is already reported bug and patch for that on Metalink site. Get all the patches for 8.17 spatial and install those.

Reading BLOB from SQL Server 2005 using DB Link from Oracle 10g
Hi All,
I am trying to read a table's data from SQL Server 2005 using ODBC DB Link created in Oracle 10g (10.2.0.3/4) database. I am not using oracle gateway.
I am able read all data except for the BLOB data from SQL server 2005. It gives error given below when I try to execute query SELECT * from T_TRANSACTION_DATA@sdeslink inside a stored procedure:
ORA-22992: cannot use LOB locators selected from remote tables
Kindly help how to read BLOB from SQL server 2005 inside Oracle 10g.
Best Regards!
IrfanIrfan,
If you can read the blob data using 10.2 HSODBC then there should be no problem using the 11g gateway.
I recommend you download the latest version which is 11.2.0.3 available from My oracle Support as -
Patch 10404530: 11.2.0.3.0 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER
This is a full version and does not need a previous version to have bene installed. When installing it needs to be in a completlely separate ORACLE_HOME from the existing 11.2 install.
For the Ora-22992 problem have a look at this note in My Oracle Support -
Ora-22992 has a workaround in 10gR2 (Doc ID 436707.1)

How to change the Portal Password using a link from Web dynpro application
Hello Everybody,
I have a requirement to change the user password from a web dynpro application which is available on a mobile device. Firstly User will log into the portal through a mobile device and after getting authenticated user will be redirected to the mobile application. Within this mobile application there will be a link to change the login password(Portal login). Can somebody tell me how can i change the portal login password from a link available within the mobile application. Looking forward for a suitable reply.
Thanks to all,
Regards,
Saby.Hi Maksim,
Thanks for your reply..but i would also like to know can we directly use the Change Password Iview "persoUserPassword" from the portal. Can i directly Pass the URL of this iview from the portal to a "Change Password" link in the web dynpro application, so that when the user click this link he should be able to see this Iview on his/her mobile device and should be able to change the password from there. But i dont know whether this iview will appear properly on the mobile device or we have to have a custom web dynpro application for this purpose...Please reply with a suitable answer.
Thanks in advance.

Best approach to using command link from within a custom component
I have created a navigation component "Menu" , used as follows:
<custom:menu />The contents of menu are stored in an xml file and the Menu component delegates the rendering to a custom renderer, which basicaly writes out html links. (Actually, the component does a lot more, but I'm simplifying to get to the point.).
Sometimes, I need to render a command link instead of a regular html link. I don't want to re-invent the wheel here, so I want to delegate this to the standard command link components.
Approach 1: create child components within the Menu component constructor, e.g.
HtmlCommandLink c = new HtmlCommandLink();
MethodExpression e = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().getExpressionFactory().
createMethodExpression(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getELContext(),
"#{registrationEditor.enterSubmission}",
String.class,
new Class[] { });
c.setActionExpression(e);
c.setValue("TestLink");
c.setTransient(true);
getChildren().add(c);Approach 2: delegate to the CommandLinkRenderer within my custom renderer, e.g.CommandLinkRenderer delegate = new CommandLinkRenderer();
HtmlCommandLink link = new HtmlCommandLink();
ExpressionFactory elFactory =
FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().getExpressionFactory();
MethodExpression actionExpression =
elFactory.createMethodExpression(context.getELContext(), c.getExpression(), String.class, new Class[] {});
link.setActionExpression(actionExpression);
link.setParent(component.getParent());
link.setValue(c.getLabel());
delegate.encodeBegin(context, link);
delegate.encodeChildren(context, link);
delegate.encodeEnd(context, link);Is either of these a respectable approach - they feel a little hackish. If so, which do you prefer. If not, what do you recommend?
Thanks
RichardI think either is a fine approach and not at all hackish. I prefer the second, although I couldn't tell you why (just a gut feeling). That said, I haven't tried either so there may be hidden problems. My main concern would be what happens when the request is submitted from the page, that the Restore View phase is done correctly so that the proper event is fired.

Multiple statements from one connection causes ORA-0100 Maximum open cursor
HI,
I am creating a connection and trying to run 2 statements off the connection. The connection has autocommit as false as I want to commit only after the second statement commits successfully. Upon executing the second statement, I get the ORAC-0100: Maximum open cursor error. I have verified that I have closed all the Preparedstatement and ResultSet in the first statement.
My code looks like this:
Connection myConn = DriverManager.getConnection(jdbc:oracle:thin:.....); myConn.setAutoCommmit(false); Savepoint sp = myConn.setSavePoint("save1"); PreparedStatement pstmt = myConn.prepareStatement(...) ResultSet rs = pstmt.executeQuery(); while (rs.next()){ ..... } rs.close(); pstmt.close(); rs=null; pstmt=null; Statement stmt2 = myConn.createStatement(); sql="DELETE FROM TempTable..."; stmt2.executeUpdate(sql);
I put a breakpoint just before stmt.executeUpdate and verified the open cursor are below the threshold. And as soon as I execute stmt2.executeUpdate,I get the maximum cursor error. Also, I noticed that the number of open cursors jumps to the limit after stmt2.executeUpdate(sql) as verified by the following sql
select s.sid, s.username, a.value from v$sesstat a, v$statname b, v$session s where a.statistic# = b.statistic# and s.sid=a.sid and b.name = 'opened cursors current' and s.username = 'user_name';
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better way to execute multiple statements using the same connection and commiting only after the last statement has executed successfully?I believe you need to close your connection via myConn.close() as follows:
PreparedStatement pstmt=null;
ResultSet rs=null;
Connection myConn=null;
try{
myConn= //put code to get connection in this statement here
pstmt = myConn.prepareStatement(...)
rs = pstmt.executeQuery();
while (rs.next()){
}finally{
if(rs!=null)
rs.close();
if(pstmt!=null)
pstmt.close();
if(myConn!=null)
myConn.close();

How to use "CREATE DIRECTORY" from client side remotely
Is there any way to create a logical directory from the remote client side, other than in the server? Or it's associated with the server's operating system policy? Thanks.
Hello Roland:
If your question is "can you creat an OID directory outside of the database" the answer is no. If I have not correctly understood your question please repost with more details.

Encore keeps freezing when I use dynamic link from premiere. Any thoughts?
I just got done editing my sequence in Premiere Pro CS6. I've added my chapter markers and sent to Encore via Dynamic Link. Once I choose my project name and location it begins the import. At 50% it freezes. I've tried it on multiple machines and hard drives. I've done this a million times before and have now just run into issues. Any thoughts?
I'm working on a 2010 Mac Pro and a 2013 Macbook Pro (non retina)You'll have a much better chance asking your question in the Encore forum. There are not many Encore users who venture here. This forum is for general Creative Suite questions.
