Using DB Upgrade Assistant to migrate from 10.2.0.3

Can you use the DB Upgrade assistant to migrate from 10.2.0.2 to 11gR2 Or do you have to be on a higher release of the EE db (ie. 10.2.0.5) to use the migration assistant?
Thanks.

  • Do you run Pre-Upgrade Assistant when migrate from 10.1 to 10.2

    Hello,
I tried to upgrade from 10.1 to 10.2 on Windows. Base on installation guide, you have to install 10.2 in a separate ORACLE_HOME, then run utlu102i.sql through SQL before run DBUA. Since I installed 10.2 without create start database because SID is same as 10.1. How to run pre-upgrade assistant? Or should I setup new SID for 10.2 and change it back after migrate database from 10.1 to 10.2.
    Your assistance will be appreciated,

I'd suggest to check the "manual upgrade/migration" method described in upgrade doc.
    As a summary:
utlu102.sql is just a step to verify some prereqs needed before going to 10.2
You'll need to shutdown your 10.1 DB. Copy your .ora files from 10.1.to 10.2; adjust them appropriately.
Set your Oracle_home to 10.2; keep same SID. Startup upgrade, then run catpatch.sql (if i remember correctly).
All these steps are well described in the manual.

  • Upgrade from 8i to 9i using Database Upgrade Assistant

    Hi
I installed 9i on a server that already has an 8i database. I am trying to use the upgrade assistant in 9i to convert the database to 9i. After selecting the 8i db, I get dialog saying 'Getting databse information. Please wait..' then error 'ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error'. I tried setting the 9i listener to a different port (1522) and restart listener, no luck. Any suggestions?
    Thanx

You need to try the database forum, whose ID i think is 145

  • Why we are using Application upgrade assistance??

    Hi,
    Doubts?
Why we are using Application upgrade assistance in the case of apps up-gradation from 11i to R12, whenever up-gradation assistance don not upgrade database and all custom form and reports. It will install new Tech Pack.
    Please clear my doubts.

  • How do I set up a proxy server for webmail services to assist in migrating from NMS 4.15p6 on NT to iMS 5.1 on HP-UX.

I want to have minimal if no downtime at all when moving the message store. iPlanet support hinted at an "unsupported" proxy server solution, and would give no further information. I am running the MMP with 5.1 and that supports IMAP and POP migration, but I need support for webmail services as well to complete the migration from NT to UNIX with minimal distruption of thousands of users. I am using the MoveUser utility to move the message store in hopes that will clear up some store corruption we have been seeing.

To get this in a 'supported' fashion you might want to wait until the iMS 5.2 release. iPlanet has said this release would include a webmail proxy/mmp server to do exactly what you desire.
A proxy server would not be a solution to your problem as it would have to have access and knowledge to the users mailhost attribute to determine to which host to route the webmail connection. The webmail proxy/mmp will have this functionality.
You might want to contact your iPlanet rep about this product and maybe you could get a copy of it as part of a beta program. I know iPlanet is always looking for oppourtunities for feedback like this.

  • Cannot use Migration Assistant to migrate from a Time Machine backup to a new Mac.

I have a supposedly valid Time Machine backup for both of the MacBook Pro's we have (had).  My wifes is Pro is working but mine died.  I am replacing it with a MacBook Air.  Following the steps, I tried to Migrate all my Pro files and apps from a TM backup using the Migration Assistant but it stops at 'Looking for source' and never gets past this.
I have confirmed the wife's back up is valid using 'Enter Time Machine'. However, on that same Mac Pro, if I use the Migration Assistant, it does not find the hard drive, once again , getting stuck at 'Looking for source just like on the Mac Air.
I went back to BestBuy where I bought the Air and worked with the Apple  Rep.  He tried it himself on a Mac Pro they had in the store and got the same results.
We called this into MyApple and after elevating this to the next level, they still cannot explain it.
I have used this feature in the past prior to upgrading to Mavericks so I am wondering if the fault is there?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Dave

I may have solved this (partly). A search reveal A LOT of peoplel having the same issue.  One solution put forward was that the Time Machine backups were not complete.  I noticed in mine, non of the backups for a quite a while have no Applications or System files backup.  The solution was to do a TM reset.  I did that and ran a new backup of the one MacBook Pro that is still working.  After it was complete, the backup had the Applications and System data in it.  I was able to open the Migration ssistant and it found the drive.
Now I just have to hope that the repair shop can salvage my malfuncitoning MB Pro so I can solve the main issue either by Migrating fromht MB Pro or make a new back up of the MB Pro after TM reset and use that for the migration.  Won't till tomorrow (hopefully).

  • Can I use Migration Assistant to migrate from a hard drive on the same computer?

I have a Mac Pro with spaces for four hard drives.
I currently have only one hard drive, with Mac OS X 10.6 on it.
I am getting a new, second hard drive (a Solid State Drive). I want it to be my primary drive, to install Mac OS X 10.6 on that and use that as the startup disk.
I want to leave my original hard drive in the computer as a secondary drive.
I understand that the Migration Assistant can only import settings from another, separate, Mac? Is that true?
Or is it possible to tell Migration Assistant to get the settings from this older hard drive, even though it is on the very same computer?
Thank you in advance for insights, suggestions, advice and ideas!

MA will transfer your current system preferences to the SSD regardless of where they come from.
BTW, you will need a special mounting sled for the SSD. You should find them at OWC.

  • HT4413 Can i use migration assistant to migrate from 10.8.5 to 10.5.8?

Moved back in to a house where my old imac is, want to migrate across from my newer macbook.
    Having user creation issues.
Can i go from new to old?

Most likely not by using the Migration Assistant. If all you want is your data, then simplest is to create an admin account on the old machine using the same credentials as what's on the new one, then drag & drop stuff from the new to the old. Do note that anything dealing with Mail, iTunes, iPhoto, and Safari most likely won't work. That's the stuff in /username/Music and Pictires. and in /username/Library/Mail and Safari.

  • Using Migration Assistant to migrate from a disk

    Hi
    Long story short:
iMac G5 > screen went fuzzy > logic card fried > extracted and converted disk into an External HD
    (i.e., G5 iMac converted into a brick!)
    The question:
Is it possible to use Migration Assistant to recognise and migrate my data from this disk?
    Thanks
    Jai

    Will it still work?
Yes, but see Intel-based Mac: Some migrated applications may need to be updated for some relevant info.
Also, how selective can I be with what I migrate across?
You can individually select to transfer user accounts (all or some), all network and other system settings, all applications in the /Applications folder (but not individual ones), and all other files and folders.

  • Error when using super admin account to migrate from Communigate Pro to exchange 2013

    Hi everyone,
We are facing issues to migrate mails from communigate pro to exchange 2013 using 'MigrateIMAP.pl' tool. Communigate pro has a super-admin account which can retrieve the mails from any mailbox but when sending to Exchange 2013, there is no such super-admin
account. I have created a user account granting it full access to all databases using the following:
    Get-MailboxDatabase -identity “mailbox name” | Add-ADPermission -user <account name> -AccessRights GenericAll
    Get-mailbox | Add-MailboxPermission -User <account name> -AccessRights FullAccess -InheritanceType All
The tool uses the following command: (x.x.x.x is for server IPs & mytestlist contains user accounts to be migrated)
    ./migrateIMAP.pl -d -I -U -s 100 -L mylog7 -e superadmin:password\<i -S x.x.x.x -f
    exchangeadmin:password -D x.x.x.x -i mytestlist
The IMAP4 logs shows the following error:

Anyone, please help me out, i've spent a whole week trying to solve this. Thanks in advance

I would suggest you go for third party tool.
One such tool is CodeTwo, it does the job and very cheap. It will get the job done is ziffy

  • Patch Assistant to Migrate from 11.1.1.1.0 to 11.1.1.2.0 - where is it?

Hi folks, I am upgrading an 11.1.1.1.0 Fusion Middlware/Discoverer installation to 11.1.1.2.0 (and then to 11.1.1.3.0), and have read in the documentation that I need the "patch assistant" to run the upgrade scripts. I've had a good look at the Fusion Middleware and Weblogic download pages, and while there is a patch scripts download, it doesn't contain patch assistant, which is supposed to be in a file named fmw11gR1ps1_patchassist.zip.
Has the location moved or has it been forgotten?

I too had a hard time finding this -- here is a link:

From this link, scroll down to Required Additional Software section, select Patch Scripts for all platforms.

  • Using Database Upgrade Assistant

I have one db installation with several (3) instances on.
Do I have to upgrade each instance or it is enough with one?
    Best regards
    Peråke

You have one ORACLE_HOME and 3 instances using it?
Then You have to for first upgrade ORACLE_HOME and then all 3 databases.
Only be a little bit more specific what kind of upgrade it is? Sometimes it's wiser to create a new ORACLE_HOME, upgrade it, then switch instances one by one to it and upgrade databases. Smaller downtime and in case of any failure much easier to rollback.

  • Server Assistant - Migrating from old to new

    Newbie question:
If I have an XServe with an XRAID, and I setup a new Mac Pro with another RAID (looking at Promise), can I use the Server Assistant to migrate everything?
In other words, does it work like the Migration Assistant and once it's done, I turn off the old, turn on the new and as far as the end user is concerned, everything works as it did before? I would assume that if there is more than one volume, it would ask me to verify where I am copying it to and calculate the sizes on the new volume to ensure it would fit. Haven't seen it work in practice, so I am asking for anyone who has, or who can direct me to screenshots in another manual.
I've been reading the Upgradingand_Migratingv10.6.pdf document and they use the words "volume" and "data", but I am really hoping this means stuff that is connected externally, like the XRAID, and managed by the OS X Server.
Also, they have FireWire drives. Could those just be unplugged and plugged into this newly migrated server without reconfiguration as they will be found and used as they are now Time Machine backups.
    Thanks for any insight.

If you have Firewire 800 on both machines, that might be the easiest way to go. Then you can use Setup Assistant as soon as you first start up the new Mac. It will tell you to hook up the cables to your old Mac, put it in Target Disk mode and away you go. If you have 400 on one and 800 on the other, just use a FW 400 to FW 800 converter cable.
    Good luck!

  • Error after upgrading BI Publisher report from 10g to 11g

    Hi All,
I have migrated the BI Publisher from 10g to 11g. The upgrade was done using the upgrade assistant and the installation process was a success.
