Using dinamically uploaded JARs within a JSP application

Hi,
I'm developing an application that should allow users to upload dinamically JAR files
to be further used by the application (JSP pages use some bean that should be able to create instances of newly uploaded classes using Class.forName()). I'm using tomcat 3.2.1 as JSP container. Is there any way to cause tomcat recognize the uploaded classes without restarting (if I put the uploaded JARs in [mywebapp]/WEB-INF/lib, then they will be found after tomcat is restarted, but not on-fly)?
How can I inform tomcat's ClassLoader that it should use a new classpath (containing the uploaded JARs)
TIA,
/Sasha

That was the first thing I tried, but it doesn't work...
Tomcat uses a classpath that is constructed from the system classpath and some additions when the server is started, and changes to java.class.path property from the code have no effect on the real system classpath (after tomcat stops, the system classpath remains as it was before tomcat started) and on the ability to locate any files that were added during tomcat's run.
10x anyway.
/Sasha

  • Repeater fails using {container.item} context within included JSP pages

    Greetings,
    I'm using Bea Workshop 8.1.2 and netui's based framework.
    I'm experiencing a problem relating to the use of jsp:insert tags as a way of templating the code as to make it more maintainable and cost effective.
    The problem arises when using repeaters and then binding a <netui> tag with a "container.item" context inside the included jsp page.
    Example:
    On a PageController we define on its scope a rather simple data structure:
    public String[] array={"Item1","Item2","Item3"}
    The associated index is as follows:
    index.jsp
    <netui:html>
    <netui-data:repeater dataSource="{pageFlow.array}">
    <netui-data:repeaterHeader></netui-data:repeaterHeader>
    <netui-data:repeaterItem>
    <netui:label value="{container.item}"/><br>
    </netui-data:repeaterItem>
    <netui-data:repeaterFooter></netui-data:repeaterFooter>
    </netui-data:repeater>
    </netui:html>
    This works as expected, it prints the data in the array list. Fine.
    Now, with the <jsp:insert> tag usage, we get two files index.jsp and body.jsp:
    index.html
    <netui:html>
    <netui-data:repeater dataSource="{pageFlow.array}">
    <netui-data:repeaterHeader></netui-data:repeaterHeader>
    <netui-data:repeaterItem>
    <jsp:include page="body.jsp" flush="true"/>
    </netui-data:repeaterItem>
    <netui-data:repeaterFooter></netui-data:repeaterFooter>
    </netui-data:repeater>
    </netui:html>
    body.jsp
    <netui:html>
    <netui:label value="{container.item}"/>
    <netui:label value="{pageFlow.array[0]}"/>
    </netui:html>
    With this example the {container.item} tag fails with this exception:
    "Caught exception when evaluating expression "{container.item}" with available binding contexts [actionForm, pageFlow, globalApp, request, session, appication, pageContext, bundle, container, url, pageInput]. Root cause: com.bea.wlw.netui.script.xscript.IllegalContextStateException: The Tag "com.bea.wlw.netui.tags.html.Label@cb5dce" does not have a valid parent of type DataAccessProvider. The expression "container["item"]" requires a parent of this type."
    BUT - and here is my problem with this - the label tag with {pageFlow.array[0]} PRINTS THE DESIRED ELEMENT.
    Also, on an extended example with a <form> tag around the main index html and the array structure inside a FormData class, {actionForm.array[0]} ALSO PRINTS THE DESIRED ELEMENT.
    Only {container.item} gloriously fails with an exception complaining about IllegalContextStateException.
    This is a total nonorthogonal behaviour, the features do not work as expected and indeed, with the importance of repeaters for netui's development, this preclude us from the minimum standard for structured web application design.
    Does anyone have any clue about this behaviour? If not a fix, at least an explanation...
    Thanks in advance.

  • Using Spring JMS DefaultMessageListenerContainer within Oracle CEP

    Hi everyone,
    I need to use a DefaultMessageListenerContainer Spring bean (from spring-jms.jar), have the wlevs bean factory to assemble it (it depends from a POJO) and set it as a property of an Adapter bean.
    How do I do it?
    I tried to put the spring-jms.jar into the xbootclasspath but it depends from spring-core.jar. If i put spring-core.jar into the xbootclasspath, the server dies screaming.
    Documentation says i can use legacy Spring beans within an OCEP application, well how do i do it? Can anyone tell me the right steps to do?

    Thanks for the answer :), i just had to import the appropriate packages into the MANIFEST.MF, put all the classes referring to spring-jms into the bundle and away i went.
    The application starts, listens to the JMS destination (an Oracle AQ queue) and dequeues messages correctly.
    I still have a problem when i try to suspend/uninstall the application from the OCEP visualizer.
    The JMS listener is encapsulated into an OCEP ResumableBean/SuspendableBean. It gets created and started (with a call to DefaultMessageListenerContainer.start()) within the beforeResume() method. I hoped that putting a call to DefaultMessageListenerContainer.shutdown() within the suspend() method would do the trick but... the undeployment hangs for a while, then the following is printed on stdout:

    I also tried a call to DefaultMessageListenerContainer.setTaskExecutor passing it an anonymous class like this:
    container.setTaskExecutor(new TaskExecutor() {
    @Override
    public void execute(Runnable task) {
    logger.debug("Submitting runnable task");
    executorPool.submit(task);
    where executorPool is an instance field of the OCEP bean initialized like this: executorPool = Executors.newFixedThreadPool(8);
    Anyway the result is the same, when i perform the uninstall from the OCEP visualizer the application is undeployed, but with the same painful message.
    Any hint on what i'm doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance!

    I had very similar problems with adding the correct JDeveloper .jar files to Tomcat's lib folder, but did eventually resolve my issues.
    The problem I am having now, however, is the following error message:
    Error Message: oracle.jbo.html.RequestParameters.addParameter(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;)V
    Yes, I have deployed the bc4jhtml.jar file from JDeveloper to Tomcat\common\lib!
    My web-app is a very simple BC4J JSP application. I have one BC4J component in its own project and JAR file, and one JSP referencing that BC4J component - I deploy the BC4J JAR along with the WAR file from the JSP project. Needless to say, the JSP works fine within JDeveloper..!
    I'm using JDev 9.0.3 and Tomcat 4.1.12. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    S.

  • Using a jar file in my application... how?

    I have a JAR file which contains some classes I need to use in my application. I however, after looking in several books, cannot figure out how to use this JAR file within my application.
    Do I simply put it in the directory with my .java files, and use an import command? I'm confused.

    If the classes in the jar are part of a package then you can import them based on the package structure. The jar file will have to be part of your CLASSPATH variable.
    i.e.
    myUtils.jar
    resides in C:\"My Classes"
    CLASSPATH = .;"C:\My Classes";"C:\My Classes\myUtils.jar"
    within the jar I have the following class:
    \ameyer\Util\someUtil.class
    \ameyer\Util\anotherUtil.class
    To use these classes I could use the following import statement
    import ameyer.Util.*;
    This would import any class at that level in the jar.
    Note: the import part of the CLASSPATH is "C:\My Classes\myUtils.jar"
    hope this helps.

    pullareddy

    Hi Pullareddy,
    Charles' answer will work for Servlets in Tomcat, but debugging JSPs is a bit more complicated than debugging Servlets.
    Here's what you need to do:
    (I don't have Tomcat, so I don't know the details of Tomcat configuration files and I can't guarentee that Tomcat provides the flexibility so that you can configure it for debugging JSPs. Each application server is configured a bit differently. Hopefully you can adjust the following instructions to Tomcat.)
    1. You need to replace Tomcat's JSP engine with OJSP and you need to setup debugging parameters for OJSP.
    This is not specifically in the JDev documentation, but you may be able to apply the information found in the topic "Remote Debugging in OC4J".
    Here are some tips:
    A. You'll probably need to specify the following jars in some Tomcat config file: ojsp.jar, ojsputil.jar, xmlparserv2.jar, ojc.jar, and jdev-rt.jar.
    B. The OJSP class name is oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspServlet.
    C. The debug parameters are:
    debug_mode = true
    developer_mode = true
    encode_to_java = true
    emit_debuginfo = true
    jspjavacompiler = oracle.jdevimpl.jsp.JspOjcCompiler
    2. You need to make Tomcat start the Java command with debugging options. (This is what Charles was talking about. One of the debug options is -XXdebug). This is in the JDev documentation in the topic "Starting a Java Process in Debug Mode". Please read that documentation help topic.
    3. You need to delete any old .java or .class files which were created in the past for your JSP. If you leave old .java or .class files around, then the debugger may not be able to stop at breakpoints in your JSPs. So, be sure to clean up old files.
    4. Set your project settings for remote debugging. This is on the Debugger - Remote panel in the Project Settings dialog box. You probably want either Attach to OJVM or Attach to JPDA. Which radio button you choose depends on what command line options you specified in step 2.

  • Using MySQL with JDeveloper 3.2 in a BC4J JSP Application

    Hi!
    I'm trying to create a BC4J JSP application using MySQL.
    I'm using the mm.mysql-2.0.4-bin.jar which I've registered in
    IDE and ClassPath. I created a connection with the option Other
    JDBC.
    I tested successfully the connection in the Connection Manager.
    After, I created a new project with BC4J. Using the 'tester' I
    got an error: no suitable driver.
    While editing the created view object I got a SQLException when
    I clicked in Attribute Mapping.
    How to solve this problem? I realized that other people here had
    this kind of problem but nobody gave a definitive solution.
    Thanks.

    Ok, I'm doing exactly the same Jdevloper BC4J over mySQL.
    I got one step further.
    In order to solve your problem:
    1. Add AddJavaLibFile ../lib/mysql_comp.jar (or whereever
    is your mysql driver) in bin/jdev.conf.
    resart the application
    In that case your driver will be available for all tasks.
    It works for me.
    My problem:
    When I run the Tester for my generated module, I obtain:
    No attribute with the Primary key property was found...
    Can you emeil me the procedure if you find how to use
    BC4J over mysql

  • How to use central output server in JSP application

    Dear All,
    We have developed a jsp application which is running on JBoss.We want to create receipts in PDF format.For this we are using central output server.Our approach is as follows:
    When request comes from the user, we are generating .dat file by fetching data from the Oracle database depending upon credentials and then pushing this file into data folder of Central output server.From there we are waiting for PDF file in predefined path.Here we found this is asynchronous way of producing receipts.
    Is there any other way that is synchronous or the way we are approaching is the only way of doing it.A sample would be of immense help.
    Note:The concurrent hits would be around 5000 in a peak hour.Any help would be highly appreciated.

    I don't think you can get things to operate in a synchronous manner. You have one application - perhaps running on a totally separate server - feeding data files to a different application. The only way to make it even semi-sychronous would be to throttle the JSP application in some way to prevent it from placing a new file into Central's data folder while there was already one there.
    I assume your problem is knowing which PDF belongs to which user. If that is the case you could send some type of unique identfier (IP#?) as a "job" parameter that would then be used as the specific PDF file name instead of letting Central create a random file name.

  • Using MS-Access database in JSP application

    Hi, all. I am new in JSP world. I have an Access database and Id like to access it in my JSP Application.
    Does anybody know I could do this?
    TIA
    Fernando

    Define your database as an ODBC source and then use the JDBC/ODBC bridge. It's actually only a few lines of code - see http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jdbc/basics/index.html

  • Direct calls within the oracle application server to the IIS using reverse

    trying to direct calls within the oracle application server to the IIS using reverse proxy. I am having problems...
    What is trying to be achieved is a call to the 3rd party web server (IIS with Oracle SSO plug-in) that will be invoked from the OAS.
    Any suggestions

    First you might get more response if you move your question to following forum:
    Oracle Application Server - General
    Second, I didn't quite understand your question. Can you pl. clarify it bit more? What exactly do you mean by invoking IIS from OAS (I am assuming by OAS you mean OC4J here)?
    Thanks

    go to '''TOOLS '''then '''OPTIONS''' then '''ADVANCED''' then '''NETWORK tab''' then '''SETTINGS tab''' and select the options '''NO PROXY''' click '''OK''' and '''OK '''again in the next screen. With that you have disabled the proxy settings.
    ''if you like to not disable the proxy settings choose'' : '''Auto-detect proxy settings for this network''' (it is in the same session)
