Using "Execute Javascript" to mark a course as Complete.

I am using a 3rd party Flash-based player (Flashform) to
bundle Captivate and Flash made SWF files into a SCORM 1.2 package.
My final SWF is a Captivate assessment, which, if passed, should
change the course lesson status to “completed”. Can I
accomplish this by using “Execute Javascript” on a
button and run something like:
“FSCommand("LMSSetValue","cmi.core.lesson_status,completed");”
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Jon

If you were using only the Captivate-published files for
SCORM, it would likely be fairly straightforward to do what you're
looking for.
Unfortunately, since you're using a 3rd-party player, you'll
have to consult the documentation for the player to determine which
capabilities it exposes and how you can access those capabilities.

  • Using Adobe Acrobat - Is it possible to execute JavaScript to report to LMS to track pdf was viewed?

    Question:  Using Adobe Acrobat - Is it possible to execute JavaScript to report to LMS to track pdf was viewed?
    What I would like to do is to create a pdf with an Acknowledgement button that when click will report (via JavaScript) to the LMS (Learning Management System) that the end user viewed/acknowledged the pdf.
    Can this be down with JavaScript in this fashion?

    Thanks, (My fault, as I should have specified this.) Due to legacy reasons I need to use ie, and so I can't use the PrintPdf firefox plugin. So from reading the rest of that thread, the best method does seem to be to get hold of a copy of acrobat, and add a Print() script in each file, and open it in a new tab.
    At least it gives me somethigin to try anyway :-)

    Hi,
    I am having issues with executing javascript for a button in adobe captivate 5.  Let me explain what I am trying to do.  I am working on a WBT that has three skill checks throught the course. These skill checks are not graded or tracked for completion.  I currently have an image button that has the command "Open another project" The first image button is pointed to SkillCheck1 and I have the html file and swf file in the published root folder.  This currently works fine.
    However I want to use javascript to open a new window 800X600 with not toolbars at the top.  I got this part working with the code below:
    window.open('http://www.adobe.com','mywin',
    'left=40,top=40,width=800,height=600,toolbar=1,resizable=0');
    My only problem is, once the popup opens, my WBT goes to a page that says [object] and thats it.  I am uploading two images to show what I have.  Can someone help resolve my issue of the WBT going to

  • Captivate 3 Published file won't execute JavaScript

    Pulbished Captivate 3 course.   Final screen has an exit button with the following script:  ab_SetScoreStatus(100,'completed');ab_CloseWindow();       When I post the course to our LMS it uploads fine, but when I try and run the course I get an error when I click on the Exit button and it doesn't do anything.   I had someone try the same thing on their computer and it works fine for them so I'm thinking it's something with my settings.   This used to work for me but then I got a new computer so not sure if the settings (IE, Flash or ????) are different or what.   I'm running Flash 10, and IE 8.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

  • Creating a Flash Object to Mark a SCORM 1.2 course as completed

    I am working in an Articulate program that is flash based.  I don't get much control over the way parts of it function, so I have added a lot of extras to it via flash movies I inserted.
    There is one thing I am trying to figure out.  I want to add an object that tells the LMS to mark the course complete.  I don't need it to check if the score has been submitted or anything like that, by the time a student gets to this object, the test should be done.  I just need a flash movie object I guess with the script that writes the completed status to the LMS.  Anyone ever have to do this?

    I had to do this once.
    If memory serves me right, I had to dig into my companies SCORM implementation javascript to figure out the function that needs to fire off, and then call that from a JS function on the page, which you can call directly from Flash using the ExternalInterface classes.

    When creating a new window in safari, using command T, the marker have not activated the search field. It means you have to click there every time. Changed after upgrading to Mavericks. Anyone knows how to change this?

    Yes, you can do something like that. What you would do is create a button for each image and then hide them. When I do this type of thing I place all of the buttons on a template page and then hide the template.
    You can then use JavaScript to copy the icon from any of the hidden buttons to the main button that you've set up to display the image. For example, suppose you set up 10 buttons named b1, b2, b3, ...b10. The code to copy the icon from one of them to the button used to display the image (b0) would be something like this:
    // Get the icon from the b3 button
    var oIcon = getField("b3").buttonGetIcon();
    // Get  reference to the b0 button
    var f = getField("b0");
    // Set the icon of the b0 button to the icon retrieved from the hidden button
    f.buttonSetIcon(oIcon);
    // Show the b0 button
    f.display = display.visible;
    This code would go in the Mouse Up event of the smaller button.

  • Using browser javascript to copy selected text from a pdf file opened in Air app.

    I have posted this question on reader forum as well, but I think it is more suited here...
    I am trying to create a note-taking application in air. I want to extract selected text from pdf file as a string object or to the clipboard.
    Obviously, all pdfs in my local storage will not be scripted to recieve postMessages and act accordingly, and that is not practical either. So, my problem is, how can I copy the selected text in the pdf file (opened as an object in htmlloader within my Air app) to clipboard or directly in another control by say clicking a button in air application? I suppose, this is possible using javascript, however, I don't know which reader methods are exposed to the wrapper htmlloader control. In short, I want to execute app.execMenuItem("Copy") command through htmlloader javascript. Any alternate solutions are also welcome.
    This is similar to passing inbuilt commands/methods/functions (of adobe reader) to pdf-reader plugin embedded in a webpage via javascript. This is possible in IE where the pdf is rendered as activex object, and hence JSObject interface of pdf document/reader is accessible to the browser javascript. I have also read that this same JSObject is accessible to VB as interface for IAC, so as the Air is Adobe's own product, I was wondering if equivalent of JSObject is accessible to htmlloader control as well.
    Thanks in advance...

    Thank you Thom for your reply...
    from
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/javascript.html
    ...Through JavaScript extensions, the viewer application and its plug-ins expose much of their functionality to document authors, form designers, and plug-in developers...
    As it is explicitly mentioned, that the functionality of adobe reader are exposed for plugin development, I thought someone here might have used external javascript to execute some safe methods in adobe reader. The functionality (i.e. external javascript interface-JSObject) is already available for VB programmers to develop IAC. Further, the Acrobat SDK example called "AcroPDFinHML" shows how one can embed a pdf-reader in a html page and execute some safe methods (like gotonextpage(), zooming etc.) in IE as ActiveX plugin. I have checked it myself for adobe reader 9, and it works perfectly, so there is no security issue as such to implement the same for another browser (like in my case, the htmlloader control in flex/air app).
    I intend to create a note taking application in air, where it is very much required that I should be able to copy selected text from various pdf documents, that are open in my app, and subsequently paste/collect/save the collected notes and process them afterwords (offcourse, from the pdfs that allow me copying text). However, it is not happening for me here. As the pdfs are opened through adobe reader plugin, it does not register the copy command executed by my air app. It registers the system level copy command (by keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C), but my air app has no way to execute the system level copy command programmatically. So I am kind of stuck here...
    Thanks again for your reply. Having known what am I intend to accomplish, any other (may be alternative) solutions will be appreciated nonetheless...

  • Execute javascript with input parameters of a taskflow

    Using JDev 11g PS4
    I have a taskflow that uses some javascript. When the taskflow has been loaded, I need to execute a javascript function that uses 2 input parameters of my taskflow.
    I don't really know how I can execute the javascript with my input parameters.
    As a test, I have added a commandButton in my taskflow that will do the job:
    <af:commandButton id="btnRefresh" text="Open">
                <af:clientAttribute name="long" value="#{pageFlowScope.pLong}"/>
                <af:clientAttribute name="lat" value="#{pageFlowScope.pLat}"/>
                <af:clientListener method="doNavigate" type="click"/>
            </af:commandButton>How do I do the same when the taskflow loads instead of needing to push the button.

    Please find attached sample based on your use-case:
    http://adfsampleapplications.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/JavascriptOnLoadSample.rar
    It invokes a javascript function on pagefragment load by passing the input parameters from the taskflow.

  • Execute javascript after update and submit in Skillbuilders Modal Page

    Hi,
    I'm editing, say, list of my employees in a tabular form opened in Skillbuilders Modal Page.
    I have to execute same javascript code after the changes in the tabular form have been submitted.
    I've tried using a Dynamic Action fired on Page Load, but that gets executed before the update is completed.
    Does anyone have an idea how to accomplish this?
    Thank you!

    Thank you for your answers.
    Yes, I'm trying to execute javascript code on the child page, the modal one.
    Basically, there's a button on my parent page which opens the modal page. The modal page has buttons Cancel, Delete and Save. Clicking Save button submits the changes and if there are errors, errors are shown and we stay on the modal page.
    My modal pages are all of fixed dimensions and if there are errors, I have to adjust the other regions (adjust their height, add a scrollbar, etc) in order to show everything in the modal page.
    I have written a function that does exactly that, but I have to execute the function after the page is loaded and the regions are shown. But, if I execute it using onload attribute, or setting a dynamic action which fires on page load, the function gets executed during the submit, before the regions are shown.
    I hope I have managed to clear up the problem.
    As always, thank you.

  • How do I use OracleMaps Javascript API from a different host than MapViewer

    Hello,
    I have successfully set up the Mapviewer quick start 10131, and am able to view the sample page showMap.html perfectly. I would like to run this same sample on a different server than where Mapviewer is installed. Let say mapviewer is installed on jstraub-winsvr:8888 and I want to run showMap.html from jstraub-linux1:7777. I tried changing the function showMap and the location to oraclemaps like the following:
    <script language="Javascript" src="http://jstraub-winsvr:8888/mapviewer/fsmc/jslib/oraclemaps.js"></script>
    function showMap()
    var baseURL = "http://jstraub-winsvr:8888/mapviewer";
    var mapCenterLon = -122.45;
    var mapCenterLat = 37.6706;
    var mapZoom = 4;
    var mpoint = MVSdoGeometry.createPoint(mapCenterLon,mapCenterLat,8307);
    var mapview = new MVMapView(document.getElementById("map"), baseURL);
    mapview.addBaseMapLayer(new MVBaseMap("mvdemo.demo_map"));
    mapview.setCenter(mpoint);
    mapview.setZoomLevel(mapZoom);
    mapview.display();
    Now when I try running this page on jstraub-linux1:7777 I get a Javascript error, and in Firebug, I can see that there are request like the following:
    POST: http://jstraub-linux1:7777/mapviewer/ReturnLocaleOper
    GET: http://jstraub-linux1:7777/mapviewer/mcserver?xml_request=%3C?xml+version=%221.0%22+standalone=%22yes%22?%3E%3Cmap_cache_admin_request%3E%3Cget_client_config+map_cache_names=%22mvdemo.demo_map%22+format=%22JSON%22/%3E%3C/map_cache_admin_request%3E
    Obviously those requests are bogus since mapviewer is at jstraub-winsvr:8888 and not jstraub-linux1:7777, I just want to run the page from jstraub-linux1:7777. Anybody know how I do this?
    Regards,
    Jason

    I believe that I am having the same problem. While I don't yet have a resolution, I do have a bit more information that may be useful. I have examined the oraclemaps.js script file and found some relevant references to the Javascript document.location object. As I watch the script execute, it seems that the author has made the assumption that the page served to the user has been served from the same Oracle Application Server running MapViewer. I have listed the lines that contain references to document.location below. (The line numbers may be off by a line or two as I have made some minor changes to facilitate my investigation.)
    Line 742 : //_f16._f104="http://"\+document.location.host\+"/mapviewer/foi";
    Line 6280 : var x2=String(document.location);
    Line 10270 : var x40=String(document.location);
    By changing line 742 to...
    f16.f104="http://mymvserver:8888/mapviewer/foi";
    ...I believe I have the script looking in the right place. (Previously, it had been looking for /mapviewer/foi on the server that originally served the page.)
    The x2 variable (at line 6280) seems to provide the current document location as a means to determine the MapViewer URL. Once again, the author seems to presume that MapViewer is found on the same server that originally served the page.
    this._f53=x2.substring(0,x3\+x5\+2)+"/mapviewer";
    I changed this line to read:
    this._f53="http://mymvserver:8888/mapviewer";
    Having made these changes, I have moved past the "object not found"-types of errors I had been getting. I now get "Permission Denied" errors which, I am thinking, may be the result of cross-site scripting problems predicted by the previous poster.
    So, my question is this: Is it really expected that the page that integrates the map display must be served by the same Oracle Application Server instance on which MapViewer is running? This strikes me as an absurd limitation, so I assume it is not the case. Indeed, there is a post on this forum by another user who claims to have written an ASP.Net application that uses the Javascript interface to integrate MapViewer and the map display ( Link:securing mapviewer ). This is precisely what we are trying to do; but I have yet to determine how to go about doing it.
    Can this be done? Is there any documentation that describes how to accomplish this?

    Hi,
    From your description, my understanding is that you want to restrict edit form with jQuery/JS.
    If you want to restrict the default edit form with jQuery/JS, you could refer to these steps below:
    Enter your editform.aspx.
    Add below code under <asp:Content ContentPlaceHolderId="PlaceHolderMain" runat="server">.
    Save this file.
    <script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.11.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function PreSaveAction(){
    if($("select[id$='DropDownChoice']").val()==""){
    alert("please choose a value!");
    return false;
    return true;
    </script>
    The screenshot below is my result(it will not save data after clicking OK in the message alert):
    If you customize your list with InfoPath, you could check the checkbox “Cannot be blank” under Validation section or add a rule for your validation as the screenshot below:
    In addition, you could check your code with pressing F12 to debug your code.

  • Execute Javascript on EXE

    Hello,
    I've  published a SCORM compliant project from Captivate 4 as Flash(swf) now using the same project I am trying to publish it as a stand alone(exe) project but having problems with Captivate's "Execute Javascript". I am trying to call a function which is basically located within the output HTML file but since my intended output is a exe file, I am bound not to use the said action from Captivate prompted error was: "Internet Explorer cannod download. Unspecified error".Is there any way to avoid this?
    Is there any similar procedure I can work with for projects intended to be publish as stand alone?Or am I just missing something.
    Thanks
    -Miguel

    Hi Miguel,
    At a very basic level, AIR is a local web browser... meaning it can render and display LOCAL .htm pages and execute JavaScript... just like IE, FF, or Chrome will do for content fed from a server.  This means that you publish your Cp project as a web project, then tell AIR where the local .htm file exists on your hard drive.  AIR will then display your Captivate .htm file as if it was in a browser... allowing your JavaScript functions to execute.  I have developed a Captivate AIR player for other clients of mine and there are a few things to keep in mind.
    1.  Adobe AIR requires the AIR runtime to be installed on the end users machine
    2.  If you have any .f4v or .flv video files targeted for "progressive download" in your project, you'll have to adjust your Flash Security settings in order to get these to play properly.  If you don't have any of these video files... you're good to go!
    3.  If you don't have Adobe FlashBuilder, you can use the free FlashDevelop program to build your AIR project.  It takes a bit to set up your development environment, but it's free.
    If you're interested in the Captivate AIR player, please PM me.
