Using external Variables between proxies in OSB

Hello there,
Im trying to figure out if it is possible, to store some kind of message (could be payload, XML, or just a string) to an external variable so it could be reused among different proxies. Anyone knows if this is possible, and if yes, how can it be implemented? I have seen in "The Definitive Guide to SOA: Oracle Service Bus, Second Edition" an approach with xquery, but im not sure if that is helpful: +"OSB has the ability to store XQuery, WSDL, XML Schema, XSLT, WS-Policy files, and more as reusable resources. The ability to store these resources (sometimes referred to as assets or artifacts) along with proxy services makes OSB a lightweight service repository. It's certainly a best practice to reuse these resources whenever possible."+
Thank you in advance

As I said in my previous post, my case is this: I would like to be able, to have a common variable that I would be able to assign inside one proxy, and used from another proxy. I don't know if it can be implemented. Calling from one proxy to another in order to pass the variable is not my case. One scenario is that one proxy will be able to save in runtime a value in an external variable and another proxy would be able to use it. By saying :+"You can definitely reuse them without any problem, but you can hardly put any value into them from proxy service (in runtime)."+ you mean that I can have an external variable pre-assigned, but I will not be able to update in runtime? Is this 100% sure?
Thank you for your quick answer.

  • How to use a variable between interfaces or class?

    Hello All;
    Far by now I can say that the forum is very helpful for me. Thanks for all the people who have the time and generosity to help our problems. Thank you.
    Unfortunately I have a problem <Again :( >
    I want to use a variable in two different *.java files.
    Is it possible?
    The Variable i want to use is; int CiftSayisi
    The variable is declared in the CamCalib.Java under a button's Action Listener.
    Here is the code;
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent arg0) {
                        ImagePair.main(null);
                        String[] ImPath = list.getItems();                                           //Storing Items in an Array
                        Dimension dim = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize();                     //Dimensions of the Screen Storing in an object
                        int ScreenHeight = dim.height;                                           //Definition ScreenHeight
                        int ScreenWidth = dim.width;                                          //Definition ScreenWidth
                        // System.out.println(ScreenHeight);                                                    //Testing of the Dimensions
                        // System.out.println(ScreenWidth);                                                     //Testing of the Dimensions
                        int CiftSayisi = ImPath.length -1 ;
                        if (CiftSayisi == 0){
                             System.out.println("Added Images do not Construct a Pair");
                        else {
    }Now i want to use it in another java file which is ImagePair.Java in the loading part of the interface;
                 setType(Type.UTILITY);
              setTitle("Image Pair Selection");
              setResizable(false);
              setAlwaysOnTop(true);
              setBounds(100, 100, 450, 68);
              contentPane = new JPanel();
              contentPane.setBorder(new EmptyBorder(5, 5, 5, 5));
              setContentPane(contentPane);
              contentPane.setLayout(null);
              textField = new JTextField();
              textField.setBounds(61, 11, 22, 20);
              textField.setEditable(false);
              textField.setEnabled(false);
              contentPane.add(textField);
              textField.setColumns(2);I have a text field in here that i need to fill with the value of CiftSayisi

    I didn't bother reading the code, since you didn't format it.
    But to answer your question (if I understand it correctly), yes, it is possible to pass variables between different object instances (not from an interface specifically, since interfaces don't have members). The simplest way to pass the variable as an argument to a method or constructor. If these aren't available, you could create a static global variable, though in a multithreaded app you'd have to synchronize access.

  • SetRGB using external variable (LoadVars)

    Hi!
    I'm trying to do following: I'm loading a hexadecimal color
    value (like 0xFFFFFF) from an external file into a Flash-movie. I'd
    then use the value to change a movie clip colour.
    I'm using Flash 8 Professional, but my code should be
    compatible with MX 2004 / Flash 7 too.
    I succeeded to change the color using action script in the
    timeline:
    //Defines the hexadesimal value for tcolor1:
    tcolor1 = 0x990000;
    // my_mc turns red:
    var my_color:Color = new Color(my_mc);
    my_color.setRGB(tcolor1);
    stop();
    But, as I added the LoadVars operation, it seems that I
    cannot load the variable (color value) correctly:
    import mx.data.components.DataHolder;
    var my_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    my_lv.onLoad = function(success:Boolean):Void {
    my_lv.load("colors.txt");
    // my_mc turns red:
    var my_color:Color = new Color(my_mc);
    my_color.setRGB(tcolor);
    stop();
    There's something wrong with my use of variable or then in
    the Loader. I was able to trace the tcolor value to the Output
    window but somehow it does not show in the movie clip instance
    color (instead, my_mc turns to black)
    External txt file content looks like this:
    &tcolor1=0x000099
    I'm not very familiar with ActionScript 2.0 or LoadVars so
    any help is welcome. THX!

    Nope, the problem remains (flatcoat, thanks for pointin out
    the spelling mistake in tcolor). I get the value in Output
    correctly, but movie clip turns to black whatever I try.
    Could the problem be related to the fact that flash is not
    able to load the variable in time? see topic:

  • Using Shared Variables and Initialize Front Panel Binding (to PSP)

    Hi,
    I use LV DSC RT 8.2.1
    I have a Vacuum System That includes signals from - Pumps failure, Valves status, Vacuum gauge, start Pump ...
    Each signal is read by a FieldPoint.
    All the relevant FieldPoint Channels are read by the Server (a computer in the Ethernet Network) and published to the network in the form of Shared Variables.
    I have a client VI that is reading the Shared Variables published by the Server using Front Panel Binding.
    Problem :
    Some of the Bindings are in the mode 'Write &Read' and that causes some initialization problems.
    For example - Valve #1 is Open, and then a User start running the Client VI, (the Valve #1 Status mode is 'Write & Read")
                           if in the VI the status of Valve #1 is closed (before running it) then the Valve status is changing to Closed.
    I want the Client VI to first read the Physical status of the instrument and then to change the Value if the User changes it.
    But that's seems to be a problem when using Front Panel Binding... (is it?)
    I know I can Deploy a lvlib in the Client Side and Item Bind to the Shared Variables or Use DataSocket.
    (Is DataSocket is a Reliable method when connecting to Shared Variables? What are the disadvantages when using DataSocket?)
    What is recommended by those of you that are experienced or by NI ?
    Sincerely Yours,
    Amitai Abramson.

    Amitai Abramson,
    Hello and thanks for using the NI Forums.
    I'm glad that you've read the Using the LabVIEW Shared Variable Tutorial on our website. Check out these other resources:

    The issue that you are seeing by having "Write & Read" bound items on both the server and client side is essentially a race condition, you don't know which one is being read/written at what time. To resolve this issue I would take a look at some of the documents below.
    Using a Local, Global, or Shared Variable in Parallel Loops Can Cause Race Conditions
    Using Local and Global Variables Carefully
    Tutorial: Local Variable, Global Variable, and Race Conditions
    Locking a Shared Resource or Variable in LabVIEW Using Semaphores
    You mentioned not wanting to have two sets of shared variables (one on each side), but this is a great method to resovle this issue, that, or you can develope some sort of hand shaking to prevent these race conditions.
    I would suggest that in the future when using these forums you try to ask only one question per thread and make it more concise. It's hard to tackle multiple questions and such broad questions as "I want to know all the ways that I can connect to Shared Variables, and I want to know the advantages and disadvantages." I suggest this because we want you to get your questions answered and more concise questions will result in quicker and better answers.

  • Using HttpServletRequest object to share variables between static methods.

    Does anyone know of the overhead/performance implications of using the HttpServletRequest object to share variables between a static method and the calling code?
    First, let me explain why I am doing it.
    I have some pagination code that I would like to share across multiple servlets. So I pulled the pagination code out, and created a static method that these servlets could all use for their pagination.
    public class Pagination {
         public static void setPagination (HttpServletRequest request, Config conf, int totalRows) {
              int page = 0;
              if (request.getParameter("page") != null) {
                   page = new Integer(request.getParameter("page")).intValue();
              int articlesPerPage = conf.getArticlesPerPage();
              int pageBoundary = conf.getPageBoundary();
                int numOfPages = totalRows / articlesPerPage;
                // Checks if the page variable is empty (not set)
                if (page == 0 || (page > numOfPages && (totalRows % articlesPerPage) == 0 && page < numOfPages + 1)) {
                 page = 1;  // If it is empty, we're on page 1
              // Ex: (2 * 25) - 25 = 25 <- data starts at 25
             int startRow = page * articlesPerPage - (articlesPerPage);
             int endRow = startRow + (articlesPerPage);
             // Set array of page numbers.
             int minDisplayPage = page - pageBoundary;
             if (minDisplayPage < 1) {
                  minDisplayPage = 1;
             int maxDisplayPage = page + pageBoundary;
             if (maxDisplayPage > numOfPages) {
                  maxDisplayPage = numOfPages;
             int arraySize = (maxDisplayPage - minDisplayPage) + 1;
             // Check if there is a remainder page (partially filled page).
             if ((totalRows % articlesPerPage) != 0) arraySize++;
             // Set array to correct size.
             int[] pages = new int[arraySize];
             // Fill the array.
             for (int i = 1; i <= pages.length; i++) {
                  pages[i - 1] = i;
             // Set pageNext and pagePrev variables.
             if (page != 1) {
                  int pagePrev = page - 1;
                  request.setAttribute("pagePrev", pagePrev);
             if ((totalRows - (articlesPerPage * page)) > 0) {
                 int pageNext = page + 1;
                 request.setAttribute("pageNext", pageNext);
             // These will be used by calling code for SQL query.
             request.setAttribute("startRow", startRow);
             request.setAttribute("endRow", endRow);
             // These will be used in JSP page.
             request.setAttribute("totalRows", totalRows);
             request.setAttribute("numOfPages", numOfPages);
             request.setAttribute("page", page);
             request.setAttribute("pages", pages);
    }I need two parameters from this method (startrow and endrow) so I can perform my SQL queries. Since this is a multithreaded app, I do not want to use class variables that I will later retrieve through methods.
    So my solution was to just set the two parameters in the request and grab them later with the calling code like this:
    // Set pagination
    Pagination.setPagination(request, conf, tl.getTotalRows());
    // Grab variables set into request by static method
    int startRow = new Integer(request.getAttribute("startRow").toString());
    int endRow = new Integer(request.getAttribute("endRow").toString());
    // Use startRow and endRow for SQL query below...Does anyone see any problem with this from a resource/performance standpoint? Any idea on what the overhead is in using the HttpServletRequest object like this to pass variables around?
    Thanks for any thoughts.

    You could either
    - create instance vars in both controllers and set them accordingly to point to the same object (from the App Delegate) OR
    - create an instance variable on the App Delegate and access it from within the view controllers
    Hope this helps!

  • Communicating Between Multiple LabVIEW Executables on different computer using Shared Variables

    hi,
    I need to develop some executables which will be launched on different computer of a LAN. Some DATA are common. I need to share the data using shared variables.
    I usually used LabVIEW so I 'm familiar with shared variables but in this case, the RT target is a part of my
    project.
    I do I need to procceed in my case?
    thanks

    Ok but it's not my configuration and I haven't found my answer in the tutorial.
    You speak of a case where there is a computer and a RT target under the same LabView project. As I said earlier, I often use labview RT and shared variable between computer and RT target. But I assume here it's different.
    My question is : how do you acces to the SVE from 3 computers (without any RT target)?
    1. If I create 3 labview projects using the same Shared Variable, do I need to use the same .lvlib on each project?
    2. Is it possible?
    3. How can I configure where the SVE should be? When I use a RT target, It only depends where I put my Lvlib. But here there is 3 projects.

  • Can I share Attributes/Variables between 2 different Class Driver Sessions?

    I am designing a Simulator of Instrumentation following these steps:
    1) re-programming, re-compiling, and re-building the DLLs from the advanced class simulation drivers included in IVI Driver Toolset 2.0 using LabWindows/CVI 7.0;
    2) then i create a VI in LabVIEW 7.0 which calls an IVI Class Driver obtaining the desired simulated output data.
    My problem is that I need to share variables between different DLLs in LabVIEW.
    I want to simulate a circuit which consists of a battery and a resistor. I've got 2 instruments: a DC Power Supply and a Digital Multimeter.
    The DC Power Supply acts as the battery providing a certain voltage level, and the Multimeter measures the Voltage and the Current in the resistor.
    I've designed a VI in LabVIEW which uses 2 different sessions: one which calls the class driver IviDCPwr, and the other one which calls IviDmm.
    I wish to be able to access the attributes from "nisDCPwr.c" in the file "nisDmm.c".
    For example, to write a line like this:
    Ivi_GetAttributeViReal64 (ViSession vi, ViConstString channelName, NISDCPWR_ATTR_MEASUREMENT_BASEV, 0, &reading));
    inside the source code "nisDmm.c" of the advanced class simulation driver.
    The problem is that the only ViSession accessible from nisDmm is the handle from the Digital Multimeter, but not from DC Power Supply.
    Would this be possible? Is it "legal"?
    I've tried another approach through the declaration of external variables, but unfortunately I get a run-time error in LabVIEW.
    The only solution I've found is using auxiliary files going between, through the functions included in the Low Level I/O Library .
    Nevertheless, the solution proposed above would result much more convenient, faster and safer in my application.
    I hope everyone has understood my question, and anyone can help.
    THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME!!!

    Doesn't anyone have an answer?
    Or any proposal?
    Or even a clue?
    THANKS!

  • How to pass variables between loaders

    Hi,
    I am trying to load an image, with descriptive text and a back button on the click of a thumbnail of the image. I am using a MovieClipLoader instance to do this.
    Here are my problems:
    1. I tried loading the image, with the text(which is within an external swf), using the same loader, but since I am placing them dynamically, depending on the dimensions of the image, I need to pass variables between the two. The image loader is taking longer than the text (obviously) but I need the dimensions of the image before I can place the text. How do I do that??
    2. I tried using two loaders, with separate listeners, and the problem once again is that the text loads before the image, and is hence placed with default values instead of the values derived from the image. The code is within onLoadInit(). Is it possible for me to get the dimensions of the image from onLoadStart()???
    3. There is a back button within the text.swf. I want the image and the text.swf to be unloaded when this button is clicked. How can I achieve that? Can I call loader.unloadClip(target), from within this? Will it recognize the variable?
    4. Is there a much easier way to do this, which I am sadly unaware of?
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Tried the onloadstart() function, but it gives target._width and _height as 0. So that is ruled out...any other suggestions?

  • Linker error using extern with 2 libs

    Hi,
      I have written two libraries, both libraries need to share access to a variable, GblVal. So in one lib, when GblVal is changed, the other lib should also see this change.
    I have tried to achieve this through extern in the following setup:
    lib1:
    lib1.c:
    int GblSum;
    void Do(){
    GblSum=1;
    lib1.h:
    extern int GblSum;
    lib2.c:
    #include "lib1.h"
    void check(){
    printf("%d",GblSum);
    finally I have a main process that has both compiled libs
    main.c:
    Do();
    check();
    obviously my code doesn't actually do the above, but this is just the gist of what I'm trying to do. I'm fairly certain that I am setting my extern variable up right, however I can't compile lib2 due to:
    Undefined symbol "_GblNum" referenced in lib2.c
     what am I doing wrong? I have suspicions that this is a linker error but I'm not really sure how to fix it.
    thanks

    Static libraries (usual file extension .lib) are simply collections of compiled object files. To use functions and data contained in a static library in an application, the library must be specified as one of the input files to the application. At link time, the linker searches the library to resolve unsatisfied function and data references and extracts the object modules required to satisfy them.
    Dynamic Link Libraries (usual file extension .dll) are compiled and linked code modules (that is, they contain their own run-time support) that expose the addresses of particular functions (and, less often, data items) contained within the module. If an application uses functions from a dynamic link library, the DLL is also loaded when the application is run and the function/data addresses made known to the application. DLLs are most often used to share common code between applications, but because they are self-contained they are also a common way of building applications using different technologies (e.g. a CVI application can use a DLL built using Delphi or VC++).
    Normally, a DLL is associated with an import library which is linked in with the calling application. This import library resolves references to functions and data in the DLL used by the calling application by 'telling' the application which DLL the functions are in and how to find them in that DLL. Applications can also explicitly load DLLs at run-time if required.

  • Storing variables between executions

    Hello =)
    I am trying to store a variable between executions of my program. I can not use a file to store the variable. I have done it before by storing the variable in the class its self (I think) but I cant remember how I did it. Any Ideas?
    Thanks =D

    The variable im trying to store points my program to
    a database, the database might change locations on
    the network so I need to be ablet o store the
    location variable in a palce where it can always be
    accessed no matter where the database or my program
    are with out having to staticly refrance a prefrance
    file (thats when i ment what i said i cant store the
    variable in a file) Hope this helps =PThanks for the information. But why can't you store this database URL in a config file? I don't see your reasoning.
    Anyway, this is in the scope of what the preferences API can do, although I would put this in a config file, myself, so that I could easily edit it externally.

  • Issue in using presentation variable as filter condition in the reports

    Hi,
    I have an issue in using presentation variable as filter condition in my reports the details are as follows:
    Details :
    We want to implement the Max and Min variables through Presentation variables only.we do not want to implement it through session variables in this case.
    We have two variables MIN and MAX to be used as Presentation Variables,for a column of the report (which is a quantity),so that the user wants to see the data for this column within a particular range.i.e the Min and the Max.This part has been implemented well . The issue is when the user wants to see the full data.In that case we will not pass any values to these two Presentation Variable or in other words we are not restricting the report data so we are not passing any value to the variables,this is when the report is throwing the error. we want to leave this variables blank in that case.but this is giving error.
    Please suggest how can I overcome this issue.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Praveen

    i think you have to use guided navigation for this. create two reports first is the one you are having currently and second is the one in which remove the presentation variable from the column formula. i.e. the same report with no aggregation applied.
    Now create a dummy report and make it return value only when the presentation variable value is not equal to max or min. guide the report to navigate between the first and second report based on the result of the dummy report.

  • How to use shared variables to address multiple Watlow controllers on the same COM port

    Hello,
    I am trying to use LabVIEW 2010 to control 4 Watlow temperature controllers on one COM port. 3 are Model 96 and 1 is an EZ zone controller. Each controller has a unique modbus address, and I am trying to read from and write to individual registers (such as closed loop setpoint) using shared variables. I am getting return data when reading (although the data appears to be invalid), but am unable to change the value in the register by writing. How can I be sure that the Modbus server is sending commands to the correct controller?

    Peter,
    Thanks for the reply. I have actually solved that problem. I realized that the Modbus server address has to be the same as the controller's Modbus address.
    I have, however, run into another problem. Perhaps you could help me with that. I have a system with 4 Watlow controllers, 3 are series 96 controllers, one is PID only and 2 are ramping. The 4th controller is an EZ zone. I am using RS485 for communications and the controllers are all wired in parallel for communications and power.
    I have set up 2 Modbus servers for 2 of the controllers.
    This is the first I have ever worked with Modbus based communications. I have successfully programmed using the Modbus read/write VIs, and am wanting to move to shared variables. My questions right now revolve around addressing, Modbus I/O servers and COM ports. Specifically, at this point, I know the addresses need to match up between the server and the slave device (Watlow controller in my case), how many servers can I create and use on one COM port? If the number is limited, is there a way I can specify an address that I want the server to talk to? Will the broadcast mode work to request data values from the controllers?
    I'd appreciate any information you can help me with, or if you could point me to some sort of concise 'How-To' for Modbus communication.
    Thanks.
    Chuck
