Using F4 for open dataset

HI ,
I want to use open data set for write file to server and my question is how i can use
F4 for the server files ?
Regards
Joy

Hi,
You can tru using the below sample code for the required functionality,
data  l_path       TYPE dxlpath .
PARAMETERS:     p_fname    LIKE rlgrap-filename .
*-- F4 functionality for filename on Application Server
  CALL FUNCTION '/SAPDMC/LSM_F4_SERVER_FILE'
    EXPORTING
directory        = '/usr/sap/input'      "directory created for the required functionality
      filemask         = ''
    IMPORTING
      serverfile       = l_path
    EXCEPTIONS
      canceled_by_user = 1
      OTHERS           = 2.
  IF sy-subrc <> 0.
    MESSAGE ID sy-msgid TYPE sy-msgty NUMBER sy-msgno
            WITH sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.
  ELSE.
    p_fname = l_path.
  ENDIF.
Hope it helps

I can not open pdf with parameter page like: http://example.con/pdf/1.pdf#page=20 that just get result alway open first page. Everyone can help me?

The PDF Open Parameters do not contain the option to link directly to a bookmark, as was mentioned, but I've developed a script that can add this functionality to your files. Have a look here, if you're interested: http://try67.blogspot.com/2011/06/acrobat-link-to-specific-bookmark-in.html

  • Problem writing file ANSI to UTF-8. OPEN DATASET FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE

    Hello everybody,
My report needs  to create a file in ANSI so I am using this sentence: * "OPEN DATASET p_dir_a FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT."*  almost all charters in the file are well generating excepting for this two: ( Á ) & ( Í ) because SAP assigns the same code to both characters ( Ã? ) = 'xC3'  which is not correct, the right code should be ( Á ) = 'xC1'  ( Í ) = 'xCD' respectively
from this string = ( ÁÉÍÓÚáéíóúàèìòùÀÈÌÒÙ ) only those two characters are wrong converted.
Also I tray to catch a conversion error with this sentence:
              TRY.
TRANSFER <field> TO p_dir_a NO END OF LINE.
              CATCH cx_sy_conversion_codepage.
                MESSAGE 'error' type 'I'.
            ENDTRY.
    but never enters in it.
Does anyone know where I can configure SAP to SET this value correctly?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Open Dataset for input in BINARY MODE not working after ECC 6.0 upgrade

    Hi All,
Our requirement is to download an XML file from the application server and there is a customized program to download these files.
This program uses the statement,  Open dataset ...for input in BINARY MODE
and it works perfect for 4.7. There were no issues. But, after the upgrade to ECC 6.0 this does not work.
When the data is read in ECC 6.0 , it is shown in some special characters and it could not be opened with XML editor and the file is not completely downloaded. I read through the forum and tried the following statement as well,
Open dataset....for input in LEGACY BINARY MODE.
After this statement, there were no special characters, but there is a blank space introduced before every character.
    Example : TEST(actual)
                      T E S T (After the legacy binary mode)
Could you please let me know if there is any solution to rectify this problem. Appreciate your help.
    Thanks a million.
Edited by: Manikd on May 12, 2011 3:52 PM

But this program was already using BINARY MODE and after upgrade this is not working. I know, it may work in TEXT MODE. However, I cannot change the whole program to TEXT mode now.

If the file already exists, its contents are retained, and the system moves to the end of the file. If the file does not exist, the system creates it. If the file was already open, the system moves to the end of the file.
But, I am not sure what exactly will happen if the file is already open.
Please help me understand it better.

    Hello,
    From SAP HELP.

    Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_TOO_MANY_FILES', was not
         caught and
        therefore caused a runtime error.
The reason for the exception is:
The maximum number of open files (100) has been exceeded.
please let me know what should makes changes to avoid this abend?

Standard programming problem, should be rather trivial to find with a quick search. Basically there's always a limit of how many open file handles you can have at a time.
Please try to consult the ABAP help next time before posting (or search on SCN). A quick check for [open dataset|http://help.sap.com/abapdocu_70/en/ABAPOPEN_DATASET.htm] would've told you the following:
You can open up to 100 files per internal session. The actual maximum number of simultaneously open files may be less, depending on the platform.
Most likely you actually don't want to have all those files open at the same time and you simply forgot to use a [close dataset|http://help.sap.com/abapdocu_70/en/ABAPCLOSE_DATASET.htm] after reading each file.

  • OPEN DATASET in ABAP MAPPING

    Hi Gurus
I'm trying to use the statement OPEN DATASET into a  ABAP MAPPING but when I test in ID I get this error:
    <Trace level="1" type="T">Error in mapping program ZCL_FI_CFD_MEX (type SAP-ABAP, kernel error ID UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION) </Trace>
Also I've a ABAP program to test MAPPING and in debbuging time OPEN DATASET is everything OK.
Can I use any ABAP statement in ABAP MAPPING?
    Thanks in advance.
    Carlos

    Hello Carlos,
Please check exception handling implementation in your ABAP mapping - precisely speaking, handling of exceptions for OPEN DATASET. From error message you receive, it is seen that the exception is raised in OPEN DATASET and this exception is not handled. List of exceptions that can occur when calling OPEN DATASET is given below (taken from ABAP documentation):
    CX_SY_FILE_OPEN / DATASET_REOPEN
    CX_SY_CODEPAGE_CONVERTER_INIT / CONVT_CODEPAGE_INIT
    CX_SY_CONVERSION_CODEPAGE / CONVT_CODEPAGE
    CX_SY_FILE_AUTHORITY /OPEN_DATASET_NO_AUTHORITY, OPEN_PIPE_NO_AUTHORITY
    CX_SY_PIPES_NOT_SUPPORTED
    CX_SY_TOO_MANY_FILES / DATASET_TOO_MANY_FILES
    Non-catchable exception / DATASET_PIPE_POSITION
Please let me know what exactly exception occurs so that more accurate analysis of the issue could be provided to you.
Please also provide source code extract of the affected mapping program (the part where OPEN DATASET is called) if possible.

  • OPEN DATASET no new line

    Hi,
I'm transferring data through an ABAP program to a file in background. The data is transferred ok, but the whole data gets inserted in the file as a single line.
I'm using the commands: OPEN DATASET file FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE and all its variants ENCODING, LINEFEED, etc and also try ending my row data with CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES constants for end of lines (it is takes as Text and gets concatenated in the row).
Is there any way in which the data in the file writes in the new lines instead of one line?
    Thanks & regards

    Hey Sebastien,
While transferring data, You should do it in a loop and endloop. And then close the dataset. Also I always recommend you to take a Field in the ITAB with some Flag or some Name like Tabnam so that you can always play with the data as you want.
Example : if you are transferring QMEL table data make sure your structure will be like mentioned below.
    TYPES : BEGIN OF ty_qmel,
            qmnum          TYPE qmel-qmnum,     "NOTIFICATION NUMBER
            qmart            TYPE qmel-qmart,        "NOTIFICATION TYPE
tabname        TYPE char10,         "TABLE NAME FOR IDENTIFICATION-----> This makes you to identify which table data it is.
            END OF ty_qmel,
Then While reading the data transfered from one system A(Data transferred from) to another system B(reading the Transfered data). It will be easy if you do like this.
OPEN DATASET file FOR INPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT MESSAGE gv_mes IGNORING CONVERSION ERRORS.
      DO.
            READ DATASET file INTO gv_string.
    If sy-subrc  = 0.
          IF gv_string CS 'QMEL'. -
    > Note you can always Identity which table data it is
            CALL METHOD cl_abap_container_utilities=>read_container_c
              EXPORTING
                im_container           = gv_string
              IMPORTING
                ex_value               = wa_qmel
              EXCEPTIONS
                illegal_parameter_type = 1
                OTHERS                 = 2.
              APPEND wa_qmel TO it_qmel.
           Endif.
    Else.
    Exit
    Endif.
      ENDDO.
      CLOSE DATASET file.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,
    Bhargav.

  • Fetch excel file from app. server using open dataset...

    Hello Experts,
Our functional consultant is asking me if it possible to get an excel file from the
application server file using OPEN dataset and in background mode? If yes, Please tell me on how to do this.
Thank you guys and take care!

    Hi Viraylab,
    to download this the procedure:
you can use the FM 'EXCEL_OLE_STANDARD_DAT ' for this purpose.
this FM 'EXCEL_OLE_STANDARD_DAT' can be used to start Excel with a new sheet and transfer data from an internal table to the sheet.
Here are some of the parameters:
file_name: Name and path of the Excel worksheet file e.g. ?C:TEMPZTEST?
data_tab: Name of the internal table that should be uploaded to Exvcel
fieldnames: Internal tabel with column headers
How to build the field names table:
data: begin of i_fieldnames occurs 20,
    field(60), end of i_fieldnames.
    i_fieldnames-field = ?This is column 1?. append i_fieldnames-field.
    i_fieldnames-field = ?This is column 2?. append i_fieldnames-field.
    to upload follow this:
OPEN DATASET dsn FOR INPUT IN BINARY MODE.
    DO.
    READ DATASET dsn INTO itab-field.
    IF sy-subrc = 0.
    APPEND itab.
    ELSE.
    EXIT.
    ENDIF.
    ENDDO.
    [/code]Rob
    or Try this function module.
    FILE_READ_AND_CONVERT_SAP_DATA
    pass 'XLS' to I_FILEFORMAT..
Dont forgot to Reward me points .....All the very best....

  • OPEN DATASET FOR INPUT IN TEXT MODE - linesize issue

    Hi,
I faced a problem when opened ANSI file with CYRILLIC in ECC 6.0 Unicode system - the system cuts the line to 250 characters. Below is snip of code:
    REPORT  Z_TEST_01 LINE-SIZE 1023.
    DATA:
      file TYPE char40 VALUE 'ansi_file.txt',
line TYPE char1024, len TYPE i.
OPEN DATASET file FOR INPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT.
    WHILE sy-subrc = 0.
READ DATASET file INTO line ACTUAL LENGTH len.
            WRITE: / len, line.
    ENDWHILE.
    CLOSE DATASET file.
In this case, variable LEN always get value 250. File-content is correctly converted from ANSI and all CYRILLIC is displayed to the screen. I changed type for LINE - initialy the type was STRING, actially.
Further, tried to open it in BINARY - like this:
    DATA:
      file TYPE char40 VALUE 'ansi_file.txt',
line TYPE char1024, len TYPE i.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <hex_container> TYPE x.
OPEN DATASET file FOR INPUT IN BINARY MODE.
    ASSIGN line TO <hex_container> CASTING.
    DO.
      READ DATASET file INTO <hex_container>.
      IF sy-subrc = 0.
        WRITE: / line.
      ELSE.
        EXIT.
      ENDIF.
    ENDDO.
    CLOSE DATASET file.
    WRITE: / line.
In this case I got bigger linesize (obviously 1024), but faced conversion issues - the file contains some CYRILLIC and it is messed. Played for few hours with conversions - using additions: IN LEGACY BINARY MODE... BIG/LITTLE ENDIAN, CODE PAGE... without success. So decided to ask...
Well, I searched SDN for a similar issue, but didn't found, except this one:
    Re: OPEN DATASET STRING Problem
Could someone points me what am I doing wrong? How can I read my ANSI file with line-size more than 250 chars? Actually, in my case line size may vary up to 1800 chars. Further, afrer conversion and some validation, I should save it back to the AS.
    Many thans in advance.
    Regards,
    Ivaylo Mutafchiev

Sorry for the noise - it is not an issue anymore.
