Using frames for Flash content

I have to say I don't like frames at all, but I want to do
the following and I'm not sure how to achieve it....
I have an XHTML site which I want music playing on
continuously. The front page has a Flash jukebox on it, but
subsequent pages obviously reload the Flash movie, restarting the
song. The Flash movie currently sits on top of another picture
(using a transparent wmode).
Does anyone have any idea how to get this movie on every page
without it reloading? Alternatively, is there an ActionScript trick
to sort this out?
Cheers,
Andy

You could try doing something similar to this

with sharedObjects.

  • Proxy / Cache server for flash content / videos / stream

    hi there,
i've tried to search the web, but so far no straight answer...
we are looking to implement/deploy a proxy server to cache and then serve flash content (published in the internet), so we can reduce our internet bandwidth utilization. Windows Server 2008 has Windows Media Services which have a feature to cache windows media content or split live stream. (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/howto/articles/cache_proxy.aspx)
is there a similar product to deal with flash content?
thanks in advance for all responses!

I'm more or less in the same boat. I've got the admin console
up. I am able to run the vodtest application locally pointing the
video file to rtmp://localhost/vod/sample.flv or using the server
name instead of localhost as in rtmp://mclmedia/vod/sample.flv
I can also load the html and swf file to my xp machine that
has access to the server via our internal network. (DNS isn't
configured yet) But the connectionFailed message appears when I try
to call the videos using rtmp://mclmedia/vod/sample.flv

  • Must I use frames for this?

I have some external links that I'd like to keep within a
site versus opening a new browser window (for branding purposes).
Do I need to set up a page with frames to essentially bring those
sites into my main content area?
    Thanks!
    Eric

  • Alt tags for Flash content; How do I get rid of them

With the new Dreamweaver update, all my flash files have
acquired Alt tags. I imagine this has something to do with the
javascript it is now using to load the content. However, how do I
get rid of them! My clients HATE them, and I do too!

    OK -
This is the only markup you need to worry about -
    <script type="text/javascript">
    AC_FL_RunContent(
    'codebase','
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#
    version=8,0,22,0','width','751','height','126','src','../SWFs/topNav?<%=Request.
    QueryString%>','quality','high','wmode','transparent','pluginspage','
    http://www.
    macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer','movie','../SWFs/topNav?<%=Request.QueryString
    %>' ); //end AC code
    </script>
But I have to ask you - what is the VBScript in there doing?
    It seems to me
to be invalid as well - 'request.querystring' needs a
    "(stringname)" or an
    empty (), no?
So - there is no "alt" attribute specified in there (nor can
    there even be
one on Flash, anyhow). Without seeing the actual page, I can
    only shrug and
    say I have no idea....

  • Help with using frames for animation

I am using frames to animate webpage using fireworks 4 (I
know, hopelessly outdated). I seem to have two different
collections of frames that interact- one for the main image, and
one for the slice I'm trying to animate as a GIF. I can't seem to
change the time delay for each frame when I'm editing the slice.
What can I do to make this work?

Yep you have answered your own question.
Choose export, file export and click the scale images option, and original options (assuming they are already jpegs).
(As you say exporting as webpage creates the page for you but can create images in two sizes (thumnails and main) which can be helpful. The downside the that the filenames for the images as numeric. 1.jpg, 2.jpg etc.)
While a longer process and with no direct control over file size and quality I prefer the file export option as above. It preserves filenames and quality is fine.
and do choose 'original' as you should avoid re-saving a jpeg as a jpeg (that causes a quality reduction)
You will need to manually bring the images into your web pages (save the exported images into your site folder and bring each one into your page individually) unless you are very clever with filenaming!
    Hope this helps.

  • Firefox is unusable for Flash contents

    As title.
I'm runnong Windows 8.1, with an i7 4.2GHz, 8GB of RAM and two high end video cards.
My system is not able to play a flash video smoothly if using firefox.
This problems continues since many months. It is a shame that firefox doesn't fixed it yet.
Please don't answer to try to delete plugin, files, reset, ecc. there is no fix yet, we need a fix from the mozilla nothing else.

there is no workaround to fix this problem, we need a fix from mozilla.

  • Using cloud for client content download?...

I remember reading when signing up for cloud about using cloud to post files for others to download. I read it as though it could be used in the same fashion as yousendit. I see where you can create folders and post files, however I don't see anything regarding security or passwords. Did I misread this or am I not looking in the right place?
    Thanks to all for reading.

Currently you can only share individual files and not folders. Also a file is either private (only accessible to you) or public (accessible to anyone who has the url). Improved sharing and collaboration are coming as noted in this Creative Cloud blog post http://blogs.adobe.com/creativecloud/coming-soon-to-creative-cloud/.

  • Is there a way to force enable wmode=direct for all Flash content on all webpages ?

I need a way to force enable wmode=direct for all Flash content that's running regardless of the webpage the Flash content is runing on.
If there isn't a way to do so now, please enable this as fast as you can in the next version of Flash.
I've read somewhere that if there's no wmode setting on the page like opaque, transparent, direct or hw the flash content will run in wmode=window setting so it would be very easy to change that and force Flash to use wmode=direct instead.
This could be done by adding wmode=direct line to mms.cfg or even add Force wmode=direct to Flash Settings, easy as that.
I really don't wanna hear the arguments why force enable wmode=direct for all Flash content regardless of webpage is not indicated to do, just do it, I really need this wmode=direct feature to be always on simple as that.
I know that on some webpages some content might run behind flash content by doing so but I really don't care cause I know what sites I'm using and what Flash content I'm runing so just enable it.
Waiting for all websites to implement wmode=direct would take ages and I don't have time to waste instead I wanna enable this feature by now since I have seen what a big difference it makes by runing Flash accelerated instead of software decoding.

You will not get what you need using stamps, especially if you ever want to use dynamic XFA forms.
The digital signatures that were signed with a self-signed digital ID won't fully validate unless the user chooses to trust the corresponding digital certificate first. You should only trust a digital certificate if you trust its source. The problem is using self-signed IDs will be difficult to use on the scale you're talking about.
Digital signatures are the best approach for your needs. They can provide both nonrepudiation of document origin as well as document integrity. You just have to figure out how to implement a solution you can afford.
You agency can become its own certificate authority and issue certificates to its employees. You'd just have to find a way to implement and manage such a system.

  • Making Flash Content Visible to Search Engines

When I was using Flash CS4, it published a HTML file that showed the text content of the movie, which made it easy for search engines to index the site. However, in Flash CS5.5, I notice it doesn't appear to do that anymore.
What do I do (step-by-step) to make my movie content visible to search engines?
    Thanks!!

Create all the text content in HTML first.... then use swfobject for Flash detection to display the Flash if the visitor has Flash, regular HTML text if not.
    http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/
    For reiew:
If you think that Flash is somehow bad for SEO, it's time to dispell that MYTH!
If fact, in some circumstances I'll use Flash INSTEAD of just HTML because then I'll have better SEO than with just HTML alone.
    http://www.worldbarefootcenter.com/
The link to World Barefoot Center in the above post is just one example. View the source code and you see a couple paragraphs of text along with regular HTML links.... but what displays is the Flash version of the image and Flash links.
The client provided the artwork for the page... and that's what they wanted to use a .jpg image. Well yes, that could be done in HTML but it would be virtually invisible to Google. So Instead I converted the image into a Flash .swf and used swfobject to display the Flash. swfobject allows you to create alternate content inside the <div> which also holds the Flash .swf, then when the page is loaded it detects if the browser has the Flash pluggin. If it does, it displays just the Flash content, if not, it displays the alternate content. Since almost everyone has the Flash pluggin, for most people the Flash version of the <div> will display.
The alternate content for that <div> can be any regular HTML text, images, media player, links, etc., anything that you would use if you were not using the Flash. Now the best part is that the alternate content can be "over the top" as far as optimizing for SEO, since it will not be seen by most viewers.
Here's another example of SEO with Flash.. again, the page is just a single image provided by the client:
    http://www.ksowetsuits.com/
View the source code. The alt content is paragraph after paragraph of information about the site, including lists and links. If it was just the HTML, it might be kind of a boring Home page. But for SEO I can go "over the top" in promoting the site, since most viewers will never see that part... but it's all indexed by search engines. The end result is BETTER SEO using Flash than just HTML.
On another Web site, a Flash video is displayed, the alt content is the complete text narration of the video. Now how many people would take the time to read that if they could just watch the video instead?? again, better SEO with Flash than without. In fact in one case we had first page search result from that video narration within 4 hours of posting the page.
On still another site with a Flash video, the alt content is another video, but a .mov version, which will, in effect play Flash video on the iPhone (not possible you say??). Well since the iPhone does not have Flash pluggin, it simply displays the .mov version of the video, while everyione else sees the Flash version.
So anyway, if Flash is a part of your Web development, you should look into using swfobject and alternate content.

  • Please bring back FXG 2.0 export for Flash Pro CC 2014

    Hi Adobe,
Flash Pro CC now supports SVG 1.1 export, please bring back FXG 2.0 export as well, here is the reason why:
Flash Pro CC can mainly export to Flash Runtime Based Content and HTML/JS Based Content, right?
For HTML/JS Based Content, we can export SVG for use.
For Flash Runtime Based Content, we should export FXG for use, it makes perfect sense!
Anyone seeing this thread, please reply +1 to agree what I said.

    Hello 周戈,
first, the most here are users of Adobe's products, not Adobe's employees, ok sometimes someone of Adobe's staff risks a glimpse here at random.
One way, which may prove promising to interest Adobe's development team is to use the "wishform" and maybe your "please bring back ..."  can serve as a suggestion. Here at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform, where you will find this: "Use this form to request new features or suggest modifications to existing features."
    Good luck!

  • Chromium flash content not displaying

I recently noticed that flash content does not seem to be loading on chromium. I have pepper installed. Youtube videos seem to be loading fine(could be html5 I guess). But flash content on other sites is not loading. It just shows a blank white area(like this : http://string-db.org/newstring_cgi/show … ection.pl). Usually, a network graph should load. When I right click on the blank area, a drop-down menu for flash appears that says 'movie not loaded'. I have enabled flash player in about:plugins. Any suggesstions?

I understood that it is installed from your previous messages, but if you type 'chrome://flash' in address bar, do you see something like
    Flash plugin 13.0.0.214 /usr/lib/PepperFlash/libpepflashplayer.so
    there?
If so, chromium should know that pepper flash is installed and use it for swf content, but it doesn't work for some other reason.
edit. I also noticed from your /etc/chromium/default that you're not usin the latest version of chromium-pepper-flash so upgrading it could help.

  • Flash content has dotted border after upgrading to Firefox 6.

Since upgrading to Firefox 6 (now 6.0.2), interaction (ie: using buttons) with Flash content creates a dotted border around the movie. This does not occur with Google Chrome, Safari, or even Opera. Normally, this flash-based version of my site requires no CSS, but I did try to link the page to a stylesheet with the tag { outline: none; } , but this had no effect. I also restarted Firefox in safe mode, but the problem persists.

Flash does not appear in the plugins list. It works fine in other browsers. /Library/Internet plug-ins/Flash Player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt exist. I can't find the flash plugin elsewhere (profile/plugins, in the App package)
I created a new profile to test if the profile was at fault. The plugin still did not load. Firefox finds the plugin but in [profile]/pluginreg.dat it adds it under [INVALID]:
    [INVALID]

  • Accordion flickers with Flash content

I think this is a known bug for accordion but I haven't seen
    any solution for this yet.
The problem is accordion flickers if you have Flash content
inside the div, if it's just text, then it is ok. This happens on
all major browser including Firefox, IE, Safari...

i had a similar problem - not the same.
it was solved magically when i added a JS file to solve a
    completely different problem.
the script i added terminates the annoying 'click to activate
this control' on MS IE for flash content. you can find sciprts like
    that on the web.
maybe you should try this to see if it works for you.
