Using getDate for ResultSet in jsp

Hello,
In a jsp I'm trying to display a date stored in a mysql database.
In the jsp i have put the following:
<TD align='right'>Meeting Date</TD>
<TD align='right'>
<INPUT type='text' name='meetingDate' value='<%= rsClients.getDate("meetingDate") %>'</TD>
</TR>
rsClients is the ResultSet where I have stored mysql table data.
But when I run servlet that subsequently fires up jsp to display data stored in mysql database I get the following sql exception:
java.sql.SQLException: Value '0000-00-00' can not be represented as java.sql.Date
     at com.mysql.jdbc.ResultSet.getDateFromString(ResultSet.java:1913)
     at com.mysql.jdbc.ResultSet.getDate(ResultSet.java:1849)
     at com.mysql.jdbc.ResultSet.getDate(ResultSet.java:1817)
     at com.mysql.jdbc.ResultSet.getDate(ResultSet.java:1865)
     at org.apache.jsp.ProcessClients$jsp._jspService(ProcessClients$jsp.java:154)
Can anyone explain why I'm getting this error please,
Cheers Joe.

I think you have store wrong data in Date Type field in MYsql
so try to store data in formate of YYYY-MM-DD right now it is 0000-00-00
Because you have try to enter any No,String or It isnot Correct date Type

  • GetDate for ResultSet

    I there,
    I am usign a PreparredStatement to read dates (with other fields) from an Oracle DB. Some of the records can have NULL values in the date fields. Reading such values from the ResultSet with the getDate method sometimes it happens that for a record with a date field set to NULL in the DB the following date is read 10102-11-29.
    I have introduced a work aroung in the code to track such strange dates but have anyone an idea about such an error.
    Thanks

    Huh. It should not return anything for a null. It should leave the java variable unchanged. Does the resultset.wasNull() return true?

  • [b]can I use servlets for Chat? new to servlets[/b]

    I want to a chat application for someprof and students
    I am using multicasting technique to send and receive messages
    I used applets and created it but applets don't support java.net's MulticastSocket so I used certificate
    Now I want to use servlets for this in JSP because I called applets from JSP
    Can it be possible? If yes please clearify.

    it is possible
    you could create a jsp page that would update like 10 or 20 or whatever number of ServletContext attributes.
    in the jsp_service or in the doPost or doGet method of a servlet:
    String messageFromUser=request.getParameter("msg");
    int num=15;
    String[] chat=new String[num];
    chat[0]=getServletContext().setAttribute("chatLine" + 0, messageFromUser);
    for(int i=1; i<num; i++) {
        String previousMessage=getServletContext().getAttribute("chatLine" + (i-1));
        chat=getServletContext().setAttribute("chatLine" + i, previousMessage);
    out.println(chat[i]);
    however, there is a pretty decent client/server chat program that can run as an applet here:

    hi all,

    can anyone help me how can i achieve that?
    i want to use css with struts presentation using tiles
    i couldn't find much information about using CSS for jsps on the web can anyone guide me with proper information in this regard?
    regards and thanks in advance

    Actually, I just realized it's the exact same syntax as regular html (which I was thinking, but for some reason it didn't work the night I posted):
    <head>
      <link rel="stylesheet" href="yourstylesheet.css"/>
    </head>I'm not sure why it didn't work for me the first time.

  • Defining the path for the use of beans in a JSP

              Hello,
              I would like to use a bean in a JSP file, via the <jsp:usebean> directive.
              I didn't find any property (weblogic property) which could define the path
              to the directory of my beans classes.
              So :
              1) i have put the path of this directory in the weblogic classpath in the weblogic
              start script.
              2) i made the same with the java classpath.
              Both solutions don't work at all.
              Any suggestion would be appreciated.
              Thanks in advance.

              We use the \weblogic\myserver\serverclasses for beans..
              of course we pack beans into jar files, and these jar files are included into
              the wls classpath..

  • What strategy do you use for development EJB-JSP ?

    Hi all,
    I'd like to share opinion about development phase.
    In particular what is the best strategy for development
    of JSP-EJB applications?
    1. You keep JSP files unpacked under your Context and copy EJB interfaces in the /classes directory
    Pro: quick web development, no packing/unpacking of files
    Contros: proliferation of EJB interfaces both on Web side and on the EJB side
    2. keep JSP files and EJB interfaces into an .ear file and drop the ear file in the deploy directory for every modification.
    Pro: compact distribution of application, no need to keep duplicate copies of EJB interfaces
    Contros: packing/unpacking of ear/war files needed for every single modification of jsp/ejb
    What do you think?
    Thanks
    Francesco

    I certainly package the stuff in an EAR file - this EAR file contains the WAR file with my JSP/Servlet/Struts code & the required EJB interfaces. As well as the WAR file, the EAR file contains a JAR for the bean implementation. I want to correctly split this up in case I end up using a seperate EJB and Servlet container - my current seperation doesn't really allow for this at the moment. I guess this would involve building:
    1.) app-common.jar - Bean interfaces, utils, data transfer classes etc
    2.) webapp.war - Front end client code including JSP's, Servlets, Struts code etc
    3.) ejb.jar - The bean implementation
    Many containers only support deployment using an EAR file - supporting deployment of unpacked structures is not a requirement in the J2EE spec and so it will depend on whether or not. JBoss 3.0 hot deployment is fairly good so getting ant to stick my EAR file in the deploy directory after each build is normally not much bother (only the occasional full restart)

  • About use of javascript in a JSP

    Hi all,
    I have the following problem.
    I have a table in a JSP that gets data from a ResultSet object.The table is into a form module.
    Each row has got a check type input whith a name and a value. My problem is to totalize a value each time user checks a record and put the value into another input text field. I think I can get it by using javascript, but I dont know javascript objects as well. Any suggestion? It should not be so hard!!!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jeff,thanks a lot for your reply.
    I tried to use this code in my JSP:
    <head>
    <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    function calculateValue(value,checkbox){
    var oldValue=document.frmScadenzeAbbinabili.txtSomma.Value;
    var newValue=oldValue;
    if(checkbox.checked==true){newValue=oldValue+value;}
    else{newValue=oldValue-value;}
    document.frmScadenzeAbbinabili.txtSomma.value=newValue;
    alert(newValue);
    </SCRIPT>
    </head>
    others tags---------------------------------------------------
    <td width="5%" bgcolor="#FFFFCC"><input type="checkbox" value="<%=rsForScadenzario.getFloat("importo_residuo")%>" name="<%=rsForScadenzario.getInt("id_effetto")%>" onclick="calculateValue(this.value,this)"></td>
    but alert box, used to check out the value, gets
    "undefined378.12" as new Value=oldValue+Value!!!!!
    Why this?
    Thanks

  • How can i use AME for the new OAF page.

    Dear all,
    I have developed a new OAF page and registered under Employee Self Service.
    How can i use AME for the approval process.
    Appreciate your ideas?
    zamora

    I will try to answer based on my experience of working with iProcurement and AME. It depends on how you want to make a call to AME , directly from OAF Page or from Workflow and your requirement. You didn't specify what you want to show the users on OAF Page and your business requirement.
    Before calling AME Engine from the OAF page or workflow, I guess you did already setup AME Transaction Type and it's Approval Groups, Conditions, Action Types and Rules. Do some testing from AME Business Analyst Test Workbench. Please note that, AME provides lot of PL/SQL API's that you have to call from your programs (java or workflow pl/sql)
    Let's look at the workflow and putting an OAF Page as notification.
    As Sameer said, you have kick-off workflow process from PR of CO and with in the workflow function, you make a call to AME Engine API's with the AME Transaction ID. This transactionId belongs to the AME Transsaction Type that you setup. Based on the rules setup, AME Engine generates list of approvers/approver and stores them AME Tables for that transactionId. Then, it sends a notification to the approver.
    In the workflow, where that notification is defined, in the message body you have to put an attribute(&XX_WF_FWK_RN) of type document/send. And this attribute will have the constant JSP:/OA_HTML/OA.jsp?OAFunc=XX_FUNC&paramId=-&DOCUMENT_ID-. This function is SSWA Jsp function that makes a web html call to your OAF Region.
    If your requirement is to just show the list of approvers on the OAF Page, you may have to call AME API diectly passing your AME TrasnactionId with other parameters. Then AME generates list of approvers and stores them in AME tables with each approver status. You can pickup those approvers using VO and show them on OAF Page.
    Hope this gives some idea.

  • How to use JNDI lookup from a JSP

    Hello,
    I know I should not be doing this (writing the lookup code in a JSP) but have to do it for some reasons.
    I am using this code in my JSP:
    try
         Context ctx = new InitialContext();
         dataSource = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("jdbc/mybillingora");
         conn = dataSource.getConnection();
         statement = conn.createStatement();
    catch(Exception excep)
    Is this code enough for a JNDI look up?? When I use this code, I get an exception:
    "javax.naming.NameNotFound exception:jdbc/mybillingora"
    Do I need to do something else??
    Why do we use :
    Properties env = new Properties();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
    "<some_context_factory>");
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, PROVIDER_URL);
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, JNDI_USER);
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, JNDI_PWD);
    InitialContext = new InitialDirContext(env);
    where JNDI_USER is the userid If ACL is configured at the JNDI server
    where JNDI_PWD is the password If ACL is configured at the JNDI server
    Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY is the initial Context factory and depends on ur JNDI service provider.
    PROVIDER_URL is the url of the JNDI server containing protocol/ip/port
    do i need to use this??
    would appreciate your help on this....
    Thanks

    If Tomcat is your servlet/JSP engine, they have a nice bit about how to do it:

  • How to use ShowValue within a UIX/JSP page to display an active link?

    I am storing URL's in the DB and want to display them as active links on a UIX/JSP page. I thought that I had this working some time ago, but now it no longer works.
    Using <bc4juix:RenderValue datasource="ds1" dataitem="myTextField" /> will display "http://www.otn.oracle.com" as an inactive link using UIX/XML which is expected.
    Using <jbo:ShowValue datasource="ds1" dataitem="myTextField" /> will display an active link using if using BC4J/JSP, which is expected.

    also taking that away.   Yeah!  Go Apple.   About all I will have left of use is an operating system and mail.     Will appreciate any help.  I am 73 and doing dvd's for Amazon so I really can't afford any more programs that are snatched away and learning curves that change every 6 months.

    Are you shooting in raw or jpeg?
    I’m not sure there is raw support for your Sony model and you don’t say which Kodak you have. But for jpegs Lightroom will normally work.
    For your existing photos it would usually be necessary to export versions to the desktop or create new folders in Finder. Those duplicates will contain the editing adjustments you have already made and can be imported into Lightroom using “Add” in the import dialog.
    I would suggest you download Lightroom and use it free for 30 days. You can then test it to ensure it meets your needs. You can download from this link:

  • Help! Using "Create" action in insert jsp page vs in submission page.

    This is regarding creating a new record using data TAGS:
    I'm in a dilemma as to whether I should use the data source tag <jbo:Row id="myrow" datasource="iss_vo1" action="Create">
    in my first jsp page ( which accepts input from a user) or in the 2nd jsp page (which does the actual commit).
    If I actually create the view record n the first page itself then I get into all kinds of problems if the user decides against saving the record and backs out.[because there is a null hanging record out there]
    But if I don't use it, then I am unable to use my LOVs in the html form.
    Can anyone help me resolve this issue?
    Currently I have used the data source tag
    <jbo:Row id="myrow" datasource="iss_vo1" action="Create">
    in my first JSP page.
    Below is my complete source code for both the JSP pages:
    Source Code for iss_add.jsp:
    ======================
    Please note that in this JSP , it creates a new record and then the user has to click on the "SAVE" button (which calls another jsp "iss_add_post.jsp") to save the changes. But what if the user does not click on the save BUTTON and instead click on the "back" tab. This is where all the problem occurs. How do I get rid of this problem?
    If I try to just use an HTML form without creating a record in this page then how will I use the LOVs?

    I can't actually see any LOV's on your first page so I am not completely sure that I understand your situation. However if you are talking about using the InputSelectLOV datatag, there is no reason why you cannot use that within a html form, without having to create a record in the RowSet.
    The Insert page is by default created without any datasources - just a standard HTML form. The form is submitted and the InsertSubmit page reads the values from the request object, matches the parameter names with your VO attribute names and does your create.
    Your LOV data will be coming from another table so doing a Row tag Create on your Insert page won't make any difference to it. Have I misunderstood something here? I have used LOV's on my Insert pages and I definitely have not created a row in the Rowset anywhere but the Submit pages.
    There is a problem on both Edit and Insert pages whereby if there are no rows in the table for which you have a datasource defined you can get problems, but it doesn't sound as though that is your problem. Maybe I need some more information from you?

  • Using normal classes in a JSP

    I have written a library of classes for use in a standard application. In a completely separate project I need to use these classes in a JSP page. Under %tomcat/webapps/myproject is the JSP file. Where do I place the "normal" class files and how do I reference them in the JSP page? Do I need to import them or add them to the classpath and should they be pre-compiled ?
    All help most appreciated
    Thanks
    Bob

    Where do I place the "normal" class files and how do
    I reference them in the JSP page?Just like you use any other class in a JSP.
    Do I need to import them or add them to the classpath and should they be pre-compiled ?Yes, yes and yes. The first thing is something you need to do for your stuff to compile (technically, you don't need to do it, but it's better than always using the fully qualified class names in the code). The second is something the servlet container will do for you when you deploy your WAR. The this is something you need to do with classes anyway. You don't need to do it for JSPs because the container will do it later, but that's all the difference there is.
