Using google calendar

i spent a lot of time trying out google calendar, and love it now. previous threads have pointed out that you cannot sync ical and google yet, but if you use google as your primary calendar, then just subscribe in ical and you'll have an updated schedule every time you refresh.
here's why i've defaulted to google: now multiple users can edit the same calendar. my wife, who does not use a mac, and i can now share a calendar, view the same events, and edit events. all changes that are made by either user gets updated to our respective calendars.
i did have one strange bug though-- i created and subscribed multiple calendars in google. most of these calendars look fine in ical, but my money calendar which has several events repeating by month, never gets displayed properly.
take a look: this is what google calendar displays.
http://i3.tinypic.com/vsdu89.jpg
but then ical has a weird glitch where i can see the outlines of an event, but won't display any info or details:

if anyone knows how to fix this, please help!

None of the annually repeating all-day events in my Google Calendar show up correctly in iCal. The work-around of giving the events a start time does at least make them visible but they don't appear in a nice coloured 'lozenge' and they display with a start time which is annoying.
Here's an event that does display correctly:
BEGIN:VEVENT
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20021226
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20021227
SUMMARY:Boxing Day
UID:DECC1D87-B635-4EF8-B464-2F3812CD4620
DTSTAMP:20040707T140415Z
RRULE:FREQ=YEARLY;INTERVAL=1;BYMONTH=12
END:VEVENT
And here's one that doesn't:
BEGIN:VEVENT
DTSTART;TZID=Europe/London:20060616
DURATION:PT86400S
RRULE:FREQ=YEARLY;INTERVAL=1;BYMONTH=6;WKST=SU
DTSTAMP:20060505T083339Z
ORGANIZER;CN=Friends & Family:MAILTO:****@group.calen
dar.google.com
UID:A77BB69E-D6FF-4CB9-9A22-3695CE73B91A
CLASS:PRIVATE
CREATED:19000101T120000Z
DESCRIPTION:
LAST-MODIFIED:20060502T135833Z
LOCATION:
SEQUENCE:1
STATUS:TENTATIVE
SUMMARY:Jo's Birthday
TRANSP:OPAQUE
END:VEVENT
Although the Google event is using a really different approach to describing the event there's no excuse for iCal failing to displaying it. If iCal can't parse an event it should tell the user there's a problem. As it is, the event is displayed but in a garbled way that makes it virtually invisible.

I am trying to share calendars with my husband (using Google calendars). He can see my calendars, but I am having trouble seeing his. We both use iPhones. We both have company email addresses. I have had to install and uninstall my gmail info on my iPhone multiple times due to errors sending and receiving emails from my company email address on my phone. For some reason, all of my emails are getting stuck in my outbox when my gmail account is installed on my phone. When I delete it, my emails get sent automatically. This is really annoying! I would do without the gmail account, but I need to share calendars with my husband. How do I fix this?

If you have two-step verification turned on in your email account, you'll have to log in with a browser and turn it off.

  • 2nd gen iPod touch - do I need to use Google calendar now?

I've updated my Mac to OSX 10.7.2 but I've not upgraded to iCloud, because I have a 2nd gen iPod touch.
As I've read Apple has not including calendars support for these, do I need to use Google calendar now?
I had Mac's for 15 years and even subscribed to MobileMe
If they're dumping my 2 year old bit of kit it's a poor show, I will keep it going as it still does a job for me, it's a shame I'll may have to move away from apple and I guess iTunes too.

That I know I've read that but unless someone comes up with a work around, before then, I'll move to google or yahoo calendars.
I'm Mac through and through, a total fan but like alot of people these day I'm having to cut back, yes it's nice I'm not paying the mobileme sub anymore but I can't justify buying a new ipod or stretching to an iphone.
Maybe I having to grow away from Apple.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
All iWork apps allow you to save your documents on your computer. You will be able to choose the destination when you want to save a document.
You can also disable iCloud for some apps. To do that, go to System Preferences -> iCloud, press "Options" next to "iCloud Drive" and disable the apps you want to.
If you have lost your old documents, you should have a backup that you made before upgrading to OS X Yosemite, so you only have to restore it.

  • Using Google Calendar with my Iphone.

I use Google Calendar with my Iphone. When I delete a recurring event it gets deleted from Google Calendar but not from my Iphone.

Try: Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Select your Gmail Account>Change the Calendar tab from "on" to "off".  It will alert you that your calendar account will be deleted.  That's ok.  Delete the Calendar account. Wait about ten seconds and then turn the Calendar tab back "on". See if doing this fixes things.

  • How can I share my ical work calendar with my coworkers that are using google calendar?

How can I share my ical work calendar with my coworkers that are using google calendar?

You can only do this by syncing your calendar to an external server - MobileMe is designed for this but if you don't already have a MobileMe account you can't start one now.
If you do have a MobileMe account the method is described here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/sharedcalendar.html#publicshare
If you don't, you could sync to Google Calendar (Google accounts are free) or wait for iCloud which should be out in a couple of months and will probably provide this sort of facility.
You might like to consider BusyCal which is like iCal Pro - similar to iCal but with extra facilities. It can sync calendars on a Lan and also between accounts on the same machine (you have to have fast user switching enabled).
There is a free trial available on their website: it's slightly cheaper from the Mac App Store. (I have no connection with this company).

  • HT2513 Can I share an iCal calendar with someone who uses Google Calendar?

That's basically the question.  I use iCal and I want to share one of my calendars with someone who uses Google Calendar and doesn't have any Apple products.  Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    Mark

I didn't explain correctly. Right now I share (subscribe) a calendar on Mobile Me , in addition to my own personal calendar. That shared calendar is staying on Mobile Me and I need to be able to access it once I move my personal calendar to iCloud. That is, if I use iCloud can I share calendars that are not on iCloud, but are on MobileMe?
You can't do this: when you migrate your MobileMe account to iCloud the calendars will be transferred there and no longer available on MobileMe.
You can share calendars privately or publicly from iCloud: private calendars can only be viewed by nominated iCloud members; public calendars can be viewed by anybody in a CalDAV client such as iCal or Google Calendar (though they are non-editable).

  • Currently using Google calendar want to move...

to strictly  using iCal since we are using Macs. I'm in Japan, and my friend is in the USA. We are currently using Google calendar to schedule our times of when we can get online and practice our Japanese. Google calendar has been set up in iCal so I can receive events from my friend, and I can send to him. Our available times are showing up correctly in iCal.
Is it possible to remove the Google portion and still use iCal for our scheduling needs? Neither one of us has Mobileme though, so it would have to be from our computers. Would we still need a host server? Would this new iCloud thing in the fall be a good alternative?
So far the google way has been fine, but I am checking into a better way if any to do this.
    Thank you.

Yes, you have to have an external server of some sort: at the moment it's Google. You can't just do it from your computers - well, in theory you could but I don't advise trying to go down that road, it requires quite advanced knowledge.
As you're not using MobileMe the only really viable alternative is iCloud when it's rolled out - both of you may need Lion, it's not absolutely clear about that at the moment. But in practice it's not likely to be any better than Google if you have that working OK now.

  • Using Google Calendar as an Exhange Server

    Community,
Using "Google Sync" I am able to get all of my Google Calendars onto my iPhone by adding a single Google Exchange account.
Now that Snow Leopard supports Exchange, is it possible for me to add this same exchange server to Mail/Calendar and get access all of my Google Calendars through a single (Google) exchange account?
    Thank you,
    Jr

    VK,
I understand that you are able to manage your Google Calendars through iCal, but its truly a pain in the ***. For example, I have 11 calendars and by the time they are all imported iCal looks so convoluted that its almost useless.
My hope was that I would be able to import my single Google "Exchange" account and get all of my 11 calendars with it. This would declutter the iCal interface and make managing calendars easier
got you. I don't know if this is possible. i suspect not.

  • HT1296 I am using Google Calendar.  I just bought an Iphone.  I got it to sync.  Everything on my Google calendar did go on my Iphone calendar.  But now I want the Iphone calendar to send and change the Google calendar.  How do I get that to happen????

    This is a question?????????
I just bought an Iphone 5s.  I did what Google said to sync their calendar to my new Iphone calendar.  Guess what it worked.  But I want the Iphone calendar to send back to the google calendar and it is not doing that. So the question is Is this possible?????  If so how do I do it????

Yeah, you fried the phone big time.
Go into iMessage settings and set the Caller ID to your phone number.

  • Icalendar keeps sending notification reminders for past events that have deleted. These were set up as reoccurring, but I no longer need. I have a mac which has my calendar synced. Also use google calendar. What do I need to do to fix this?

    PLEASE HELP

Doing that to hold an application to a desktop seems to work for me, but a more annoying problem is when I assign Mail to the far left desktop space and then then go full screen.  Mail is suddenly shoved to the far right desktop.  I gotta say, as a Unix admin that remembers the wonderful simplicity of OpenLook, this is really annoying.
And why can't I use a 2D grid anymore for my spaces?
Mission Control looks pretty, but it is a huge step backwards compared to what virtual desktop software could do 16 years ago.
