Using JDeveloper11 with Oracle9

Hi,
I'm trying to use JDeveloper 11 (latest version) with Oracle 9. I'm trying to make an OCI (not thin) connection, and I'm failing with a message like "no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path", which had me mystified for a while as I thought I had fixed java.library.path.
However, I only have the Oracle 9 client installed. I'm guessing that's why it's not able to find ocijdbc11 in the java.library.path. Do I have any recourse to get JDev 11 and Oracle 9 to play nicely together?

One thing is sure: If you want to use JDBC drivers in version 11 in OCI mode then you need the matching OCI DLL for that driver.
You cannot run 11g drivers with an OCI DLL from a 9i client.
If you do not have an 11g client installed, then the "Instant Client" (downloadable from OTN) might be an option. It's just a couple of DLLs that enable you to use OCI without an Oracle client installation.

Struts can be used with any J2EE compliant app server. It's not Tomcat specific in any way. You just have to deploy it properly.

I can't answer to all your questions, however I can tell you that:
2) The directory where to put the report file is specifiend in a file named
<serverName>.conf
in the sourceDire property
<property name="sourceDir" value="/directory/dove/mettere/i/report"/>
that you can find under ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf
3) The URL is
http://<server IAS address>:<port number>/<jsp file path>/<repName>.jsp?server=<report server name>&userid=<user>/<pwd>@<DB conn string>[&<param>=<valore>[&...]]
5) In IE you have only to set the previous URL in the address bar.

I've downloaded Oracle Data Miner 10.1.0.2 abd I would like to use with Oracle9i. But It appears this message "Cannot to be connect to Data Mining server" .

Using psp with oracle text.

we are design a simple document management application using psp with oracle text.
we can query on index and finding the record and display the result on browser page.
but we can't take document link on the same browser page. So we can't take document itself.

How to use authid with rwservlet via WebLogic Thin Client

1. Using J2EE Thin Client for WebLogic (WL) to submit interactive requests for Oracle Reports (App Server 10g) running on another server without SSO.
2. After starting basic Infrastructure, we start rwserver in batch mode (no other mid-tier components are used).
3. It appears that the cgicmd.dat file in the Thin Client conf directory on the WL server controls the DB access with the key:connect string info it has.
4. We had been allowing the testers to come in via the web through a SunOne (iPlanet/Netscape) web server instance, which in turn connects to the WL server running the Thin Client instance.
5. We noticed that anyone could run rwservlet to view report status with the showjobs command via a URL through the same mechanism as point #4 above, and were concerned about security of the reports - "bad".
6. Then someone realized the showmap command could also be specified, and thus see the DB connect string (Id/pw/SID) - "worse".
I researched securing Reports, and read through the white paper, "Securing Oracle9i Reports", and although it discusses security without using SSO, all it says is "users accessing a secured instance of Oracle9iAS Reports Services will be challenged to identify themselves by the Reports Servlet, using its own authentication mechanism (as with Reports6i)", but I can find no explanation of how that works, nor how it would work with the WL Thin Client.
Questions:
1. How are the Id's/passwords set up under AS 10g "as with Reports6i" in this environment going through the WL Thin Client?
2. Is there anything else that needs to be done to secure the created reports, and the connect string info (i.e. using authid with rwservlet?showjob, and not allowing the rwservlet?showmap to be executed at all)?

the JDBC Developer's Guide (11gR2)
gives an example in chapter 9 under "JDBC Thin Driver Support for Encryption and Integrity", sub- "Setting Encryption and Integrity Parameters in Java"
from Oracle SQL Devloper, without redirecting the client to use the OCI/thick driver, choose, new database connection, connection type Advanced. add the entry from the example noted above to the Custom JDBC URL form.

strange side note!, we could not get this to encrypt unless the sqlnet.ora file included the SQLNET.ENCRYPTION_SERVER=required. if this was set to default(accepted), and even though the jdbc thin client properties set to required, the network traffic was still clear text.

Can't compile old Cobol Programs with Oracle9i Pro*Cobol.

I'm a Cobol and Oracle greenhorn - so please apologise my question.
Here are the details:
We want to switch our db from
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0
to
Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.4.0
If I have the "Oracle 8i client" installed on my developing system (using procob precompiler) my program compiles without problems. Connecting to our old 8i db works fine.
On connecting to our new 9i db my program crashes on the first EXEC SQL statement with:
114 Attempt to access item beyond bounds of memory
So I have installed the "Oracle 9i client" to use the new precompiler
Pro*COBOL: Release 9.2.0.1.0
BUT now I can't execute my program because procob inserts some CALL "ORASQL8" which doesn't exist in my Oracle installation. Maybe ORASQL9 would work, because there are some files with this name in my Oracle dir.
How can I make my NET Express Version 3.1.11 Service Pack 1 work together with Oracle9i?
Here are my current (old) Precompilersettings from the file cobol.dir:

Problem with demo : Round-Tripping XML with Oracle9i

We have recently installed a 9.2.0.1.0 database with the intention of trying some of the new XMLTYPE samples.
I downloaded the demo : Round-Tripping XML with Oracle9i.
The first part, Mapping XML into Oracle9i, worked fine.
The second part, Re-composing XML from Oracle9i, doesn't seem to run.

I found the solution :
The database was running with a multibyte characterset (UTF8).
After changing that to WE8ISO8859P1 everything worked fine.
It is strange that Oracle suggest to use UTF8 when installing the new database (9i)
and on the other hand doesn't support multibyte charactersets for several of the XML-products.

Actually you don't need to see that viewlet. Just follow the easy follow-by steps in Metalink Note 240819.1 "How to Generate Excel output in browser using Reports9i JSP". This is faster done than watching the viewlet! You can use it for 9i and as well for 10g.
Please note the reference to note 271590.1 in the end of the document. Without that it won't work on 10g.

Pro*C/C++ with Oracle9i

I am not familiar with Oracle database. But what i am gonna do
is to write a program, to communicate Oracle Database thru
Pro*C/C++. As I know, Oracle 8.1.7 is no longer shipped with
Pro*C/C++, we just use the 8.1.5 Pro*C/++ to talk with 8.1.7.
However, we are not pretty sure whether this backward
compatibility still hold for Oracle9i, i.e. programs compiled
with 8.1.5 Pro*C/C++ library can work well with Oracle9i
database. Could any guru here kindly tell me your experience
about that? In fact, I am reading the specification of Oracle 9i
but can't find the relevant topic.

All you need to do is set the environment variable ORACLE_DRIVE (such as C: etc.) Good luck

As Winston Churchill wrote, however you might want to do a factory reset on the Apple TV.
This way all information pertaining to your daughter will be removed from the device. Specifically if see was sign into any of the streaming service, Netflix, Hulu, etc. her credentials will still be associated with this Apple TV, doing a factory reset will remove all that and make it as if you purchased the device and just plugged it in.

OPEN CURSOR using a WITH clause in the select query

I am using Oracle 9i. I have a requirement where I have a REFCURSOR as an OUT parameter for my procedure. I have declared the TYPE and created the procedure.
In the procedure, I am using OPEN <cursor_name> FOR <query>;
Ideally this works in most of the cases that I have tried earlier. However, in the current case I am using a WITH clause in my query to get the results.
I need help in understanding if the above mentioned syntax would not allow me to use the WITH clause in the query.

What error do you get , seems to work ok for me on 10g

In the Music tab of iTunes, do you have 'Include Voice Memos' checked?
