orj.log4j.Logger class.Could be you mistyped your package name here. Use "org.log4j.Logger".
WebLogic 8.1 SP2 comes with log4j.jar in ${BEA_HOME}/weblogic81/common/lib. Looks
like it's Log4j 1.2.8.
I've used Log4j from within an authentication provide with no problems but an
authentication provider probably runs in the application server context.
If you want to use log4j in your application, won't you need to add log4j-1.2.8.jar
(or whatever) to your WEB-INF/lib or modules directory or something?

  • The jstl use error in the weblogic!!

    I am attempting to deploy the example petstore in the weblogic8.1.7,but I found a error :when the server handle sidebar.jsp, a exception occurs: can not find the property "local" setter method. I am very attonished in this exception, but there is no exception in the sun application server. Finally, I download the source code about jstl. I trace the tag class which deal with the tag c:set, and found a odd question in the class the target attribute of this tag such as <c:set value="en_US" target="${catalog}" property="locale"/> donot tansfer to the java bean instance which id is catalog,but is directly as a string.Additionally in the web.xml, I had added such as words: <taglib>
    <taglib-uri>http://java.sun.com/jstl/core_rt</taglib-uri>
    <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/c-rt.tld</taglib-location>
    </taglib>
    I had been afflicted by this question for serveral days, and sincerely look forward to your solution.

    thanks for your reply,but i am sorry that I have deleted tld file from web-inf and remove the tag "taglib" in the web.xml, additionally, I change all jsp file --give the the correct uri to import the taglib <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %> ,finally restart the server, but the result is that the EL syntax is still invalid. I sincerely hope that I can get a help from again.

  • Unable to start the weblogic server from windows environment

    Hi All,
    In our training system we have installed the SOA 11g and it worked fine till today afternoon. We have logged off the admin user in windows account and logged with our login credentials into windows after that we are unable to start the weblogic server.
    - Earlier in the DOS command prompt we used to navigate to the path where the startWeblogic.cmd file located and then we execute the command, after that we will able to see the status message as RUNNING MODE in the bottom of the screen, and when ever we deploy an project using Jdeveloper in the weblogic server window some messages will appended based on the action.
    - Only when we issue the command to shut down the weblogic server at that time only the command will be back to the path from where we started the server.
    - After login to windows with our account, when we tried to start the weblogic server, it didn't throw any error instead of that after running few lines in the command window the prompt was back in to the (D:\Middleware\.....\Domains\bin)path from where we ran the command to start the server.
    Please help us to resolve the issue asap.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Make sure that the user which you are using to start weblogic server should be part of Administrator group or the group to which your admin user belongs to.

  • How to setup alias or virtual dirs in the weblogic webserver

    Hi
    I am trying to setup alias or virtual dirs for my images. How do I do that in
    Weblogic webserver. I am currently using 6.1. My JSP's also may reside in a virtual

    I think for 6.1 you need to register the FileServlet (weblogic.servlet.FileServlet)
    in your webapp with docHome as an init parameter. Where docHome points
    to the
    rootnode you want to map. Not too sure.. and I haven't tested it.
    In 7.0 you can use virtualmapping in the weblogic.xml

  • How i configure the log4j.xml in weblogic server

    hi
    i write a new lg4j.xml and i put this in WEB-INF/classes,i deployed this jar in my remote server,but it not reflected. [i am not specify the server logs, we have some API's which is deployed in server for that API log files is configured using log4j.xml ]
    i saw there is a option in weblogic - setDomain -LOG4J_CONFIG_FILE='here we give the path for log4j.xml'.I think it's only work for local machines not for the remote machines.
    i don't know how to get a log files in weblogic server

    To use Quartz primarily within an application server environment,include the Quartz JAR within the enterprise application (.ear or .war file). However, if you want to make Quartz available to many applications then simply make sure it's on the classpath of your appserver.
    You can also deploy it as a jar file or a library module as required.
    Quartz depends on a number of third-party libraries (in the form of jars) which are included in the distribution .zip file in the 'lib' directory. To use all the features of Quartz, all of these jars must also exist on your classpath.

  • Error in Logging using log4j When deployed in weblogic server

    I have deployed an SOAP based web service application as an war file and used log4j propertiers to do application logging .When i tested the application through a JAVA client the log4j log file has all the application log information but when i deployed it in the weblogic server 10.3.3 and tested it through SOAP UI it gives me just "Run time error exception" in the log4j log file(which is returned in the SOAP response) as against the application logs which i need. I have also added <wls:package-name>org.apache.log4j.*</wls:package-name> in the weblogic.xml and also changwed the logging to the log4j logging in the server ( which was perviously JDK logging) .But still it is not returning the complete application error stack trace in the log4j log file(and also in the weblogic command console) I need to get the application error stack trace in the log4j log file ( and also in the console) so it would be easy to debug the code.
    Please help me out in doing the same.
    thanks in advance

    Noman,
    have you checked that the folder D:\OracleJeveloper\Middleware\jdk160_14_R27.6.5-32 contains the jre?

    I changed Logging implementation as Log4j from JDK: http://www.2hotfile.com/image.php?di=72YU
    I created log4j.xml file under my %DOMAINHOME%\config : http://www.2hotfile.com/image.php?di=JHLI

    Even i copied commons-logging-1.0.4.jar and com.bea.core.weblogic.commons.logging_1.4.0.0.jar files into the lib folder and then i set CLASSPATH accordingly, result was negative.
    I added these lines into startWeblogic.cmd

    I resolved the exception; Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4 was setted up on my pc as well. That was the cause of problem. System was looking some paths on 11.1.1.4 server folders that belong to 11.1.14 version.
    Now, created server log which i defined in log4j.xml but no log line found in file, nothing logged according to log4j.xml config file and wls still writes its own log into its own log file which is under $domain_home$\servers\DefaultServer\logs\DefaultServer.log. What might be the reason?

  • How to use log4j into weblogic 10.3

    Hi,
    I am migrating an enterprise application from JBoss 4.3 + JBossCache to WebLogic 10.3+Coherence.
    I am blocked since I can't get log4j to work inside WL.
    I enabled log4j inside the administration console, as stated in the user guide.
    Googling I've also found that I have to copy these 2 jars
    wllog4j.jar
    llog4j-1.2.14.jar
    inside my domain lib directory (that is C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\lib), and I did it.
    Now where should I put the log4j.xml configuration file and how can I tell to WL to use that xml as log4j configuration ?
    To give you more information, my classes use log4j in this way:
    Logger log = Logger.getLogger(MyClass.class);
    And I am constantly getting this error:
    log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (it.ltm.ejba.session.EjbAServiceBean).
    log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly.
    I hope someone can help me.
    I apologize for this stupid question, but really I didn't find a good guide/tutorial on the net.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jay, thanks for helping me.
    In fact what I am trying to do is a server-wide log4j configuration.
    Your solution implies writing-deploying-maintaining 1 log4j configuration file for each application developed inside the application server.
    This is not what I want to do.
    Digging around WL 10.3 installation folders, I've found a log4j.properties file inside the medrec example application (C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\samples\domains\medrec).
    It uses this properties file setting a startup parameter to the server (file setDomainEnv.cmd):
    set JAVA_PROPERTIES=%JAVA_PROPERTIES% -Dlog4j.configuration=file:%LOG4J_CONFIG_FILE%
    I would like to do the same starting the server from eclipse 3.5.
    I am working on this, I hope you can give some hints.
    Thanks a lot

  • How can i use the weblogic jdbc driver for sqlserver?

    hello
    i have downloaded and installed the weblogic on my windows2000 server,then i want to use the weblogic jdbc driver for sqlserver2000 outside of the weblogic,as follow:
    1 add following string to my classpath environment of the wndows2000: E:\bea\wlserver6.1\lib\mssqlserver4v65.jar
    2 then i write a test program as:
    import weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class test{
    public static void main(String argv[]){
    try{ Class.forName("weblogic.jdbc.mssqlserver4.Driver");
    Connection
    conn=DriverManager.getConnection"jdbc:weblogic:mssqlserver4:localhost:1433","sa",""); }catch(Exception e){ System.out.println(e.getMessage()); }

  • How do I get the WebLogic server to use the XMLRegistry?

    I'm using WebLogic 7.0.2, and I want to use the Apache TransformerFactory and DocumentBuilderFactory
    instead of the default weblogic.* classes. I've found the documentation, where
    I define an XML Registry as follows (snippet from my config.xml)...
    <Server ListenAddress="####" ListenPort="####" Name="myserver"
    NativeIOEnabled="true" ServerVersion="7.0.2.0"
    StdoutEnabled="true" StdoutSeverityLevel="8"
    StuckThreadMaxTime="14400"
    XMLEntityCache="XMLCacheMBean_myserver" XMLRegistry="CT XML Registry">
    <COM Name="myserver"/>
    <ExecuteQueue Name="default" ThreadCount="15"/>
    <IIOP Name="myserver"/>
    <JTAMigratableTarget Cluster="" Name="myserver" UserPreferredServer="myserver"/>
    <JTARecoveryService Name="myserver"/>
    <KernelDebug Name="myserver"/>
    <Log FileName="myserver/myserver.log" Name="myserver"/>
    <SSL Enabled="true" HostnameVerificationIgnored="true"
    ListenPort="###" Name="myserver"
    ServerCertificateFileName="democert.pem"
    ServerPrivateKeyAlias="demokey" ServerPrivateKeyPassPhrase="{3DES}gAuVwsR68oAlLdIfO1PAtw=="/>
    <ServerDebug Name="myserver"/>
    <ServerStart Name="myserver"/>
    <WebServer DefaultWebApp="DefaultWebApp"
    LogFileName="myserver/access.log" LoggingEnabled="true" Name="myserver"/>
    </Server>
    <XMLEntityCache Name="XMLCacheMBean_myserver"/>
    <XMLRegistry
    DocumentBuilderFactory="org.apache.xerces.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl"
    Name="CT XML Registry"
    SAXParserFactory="org.apache.xerces.jaxp.SAXParserFactoryImpl"
    TransformerFactory="org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl"
    WhenToCache="cache-on-reference"/>
    I've played aorund with xercesImpl being in and out of classpaths, etc. But no
    matter what I do, calls to TransformerFactory.newInstance creates an instance
    of weblogic.xml.jaxp.RegistrySAXTransformerFactory and DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance()
    creates an instance of weblogic.xml.jaxp.RegistryDocumentBuilderFactory.
    I don't want to use these classes, and supposedly I can control which classes
    I will use, but it's not working for me. Has anyone been able to get this working?
    Is there anything else that I'm missing?
    Thanks,
    Ed

    I was unable to use the XMLRegistry touse the Xerces2 libraries with WebLogic 7.
    I did find in WebLogic 7 doco that the latest release of Xerces that it would
    internally support was 1.4.4 (http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs70/xml/xml_admin.html#1066271).
    If I wanted to use this version of Xerces, I would need to use WebLogic 8. This
    is not an option for me at this stage.
    So, I used this approach. When starting the WebLogic server, you can assign ClassPath
    entries to an environment variable called PRE_CLASSPATH. This will prepend the
    class path used by the App Container's JVM with the values in the variable. I
    added the xercesImpl and xalan jars to this entry.
    Because the WebLogic class loaders will always defer to the parent class loader,
    it will check this class path first. So now I can directly instantiate the apach
    implementation classes (typecasting them back to their API interface definitions)

    I'm using WebLogic 7.0.2, and I want to use the Apache TransformerFactory
    and DocumentBuilderFactory
    instead of the default weblogic.* classes. I've found the documentation,
    where
    I define an XML Registry as follows (snippet from my config.xml)...
    <Server ListenAddress="####" ListenPort="####" Name="myserver"
    NativeIOEnabled="true" ServerVersion="7.0.2.0"
    StdoutEnabled="true" StdoutSeverityLevel="8"
    StuckThreadMaxTime="14400"
    XMLEntityCache="XMLCacheMBean_myserver" XMLRegistry="CT XML Registry">
    <COM Name="myserver"/>
    <ExecuteQueue Name="default" ThreadCount="15"/>
    <IIOP Name="myserver"/>
    <JTAMigratableTarget Cluster="" Name="myserver" UserPreferredServer="myserver"/>
    <JTARecoveryService Name="myserver"/>
    <KernelDebug Name="myserver"/>
    <Log FileName="myserver/myserver.log" Name="myserver"/>
    <SSL Enabled="true" HostnameVerificationIgnored="true"
    ListenPort="###" Name="myserver"
    ServerCertificateFileName="democert.pem"
    ServerPrivateKeyAlias="demokey" ServerPrivateKeyPassPhrase="{3DES}gAuVwsR68oAlLdIfO1PAtw=="/>
    <ServerDebug Name="myserver"/>
    <ServerStart Name="myserver"/>
    <WebServer DefaultWebApp="DefaultWebApp"
    LogFileName="myserver/access.log" LoggingEnabled="true" Name="myserver"/>
    </Server>
    <XMLEntityCache Name="XMLCacheMBean_myserver"/>
    <XMLRegistry
    DocumentBuilderFactory="org.apache.xerces.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl"
    Name="CT XML Registry"
    SAXParserFactory="org.apache.xerces.jaxp.SAXParserFactoryImpl"
    TransformerFactory="org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl"
    WhenToCache="cache-on-reference"/>
    I've played aorund with xercesImpl being in and out of classpaths, etc.
    But no
    matter what I do, calls to TransformerFactory.newInstance creates an
    instance
    of weblogic.xml.jaxp.RegistrySAXTransformerFactory and DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance()
    creates an instance of weblogic.xml.jaxp.RegistryDocumentBuilderFactory.
    I don't want to use these classes, and supposedly I can control which
    classes
    I will use, but it's not working for me. Has anyone been able to get
    this working?
    Is there anything else that I'm missing?
    Thanks,
    Ed

    Hi,
    I had the same error as you. I'm agree with arvind_India (previous). You must :
    1. Define a correct Connection Pool (warning: deploy it on your managed server).
    2. Test your connection Pool on your managed server.
    3. Create a DataSource from your connection Pool.
    4. Deploy your DataSource on your managed server.
    5. Verify the JNDI TREE of your managed server (Now, the JNDI name of your dataSource must appair).
    6. Deploy your Entity Bean (the error has disapeared).

    First you install a JDK6 version after which you can install your WebLogic and Forms, Reports...
    A step-by-step example is presented here: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=7265
    Look in the 'Install WebLogic' section. Note that you probably do not have to create a separate user,
    also you can use HotSpot instead of JRockit.

  • Cost involved in changing the code using log4j.properties to log4j.xml

    i have finished my application, and it was done in such a way that logging is done using log4j but it was using log4j.properties file.
    now i need to change it to log4j.xml. i need to do this at the earliest. so i need to know the cost involved in it?. do i need to change a lot on my app to read the log4j.xml?. In my app there is a function named getProperties, which actually reads the log4j.properties file.
    this is the code of that function
    public static Properties getProperties(String filename,String path) throws myException
    //InputStream is = null;
    FileInputStream is=null;
            Properties props = new Properties();
            //ClassLoader classLoader = ResourceUtil.class.getClassLoader();
            //is = classLoader.getResourceAsStream(filename);
            File catalinaHome = new  File(System.getProperty("catalina.home"));
            try {
    is=new
    FileInputStream(catalinaHome.getCanonicalFile()+path + filename);
    } catch (IOException e) {
            if(is == null)
                String message = "Cannot locate property file " + filename + " in the classpath";
                log.error(message);
            throw new myException(message);
            try
                props.load(is);
            catch (IOException e)
                String message = "Error reading property file " + filename;
                log.error(message);
            throw new myException(message, e);
            finally
                try
                    is.close();
                catch(Throwable t)
                    t.printStackTrace();
            if(props.isEmpty())
                String message = "No properties are defined in " + filename;
                log.error(message);
            throw new myException(message);
            return props;
    }and my initialize function is
    public static void initialize()
    Properties properties=null;
    try {
    String path="/properties/";
    properties=ResourceUtil.getProperties("log4j.properties",path);
    } catch (myException e2) {
    e2.printStackTrace();
    PropertyConfigurator.configure(properties);

    1. Restructure log4j.properties into log4j.xml.
    thats done
    2. Move log4j.xml into a directory that's in the
    classpath.
    actually i donot understand what does it mean to move in a directory thats in classpath means. i have to use logging in my webapplication running in tomcat. and my log4j.xml has to reside in catalina.home/properties/. My log4j.properties have been residing here and it had worked well woth the previous function. Now what i did is placed the log4j.xml under properties folder. Now tell me what modifications should i make in the above code.
    3. Remove any code that explicitly configures log4j
    (i.e. the initialize() method) because log4j will
    configure itself from any properties file it finds in
    the classpath, automatically, the first time it is
    called.I prefer not remvoing this function as this function is being called in many of my classes... and we don't have time to edit all...
    please help... and excuse me if i asked some blunders.!!!

    Hi Naomi,
    Well... I went to use the Windows Explorer (you know, the directory list is a tree view) to see if I could select more than one node by using multiselection. I found what I expected... just one one was allowed to be selected. So I guess what you are facing is a misconception of the tree view funcionality.
    Anyway, you are right about the HasMultipleSelection attribute. if you want to implement drag & drop features you can use the IsDragable attribute. I am pasting here the info you can find in the Forte Manual:
    HasMultipleSelection: Boolean
    Library     Display
    Source Class     OutlineField
    Settable?     Yes
    The HasMultipleSelection attribute (boolean) determines whether an outline field allows multiple rows to be selected. The default value is FALSE.
    An outline field can be in one of two modes, single-select or multiple-select. If you set this attribute to TRUE, a user can select multiple nodes, and you must use the following methods to work with the nodes.
         GetSelectedNodes method
         SetSelectedNodes method
         SelectNode method
         DeSelectNode method
         GetSelectedCount method
         ClearSelectedNodes method
    IsDragable : Boolean
    Library     Display
    Source Class     TreeView
    Settable?     Yes
    The IsDraggable attribute (boolean) specifies whether or not the nodes in the tree view field can be dragged by the end user. Setting IsDraggable to TRUE means that the end user can both select the node and drag it. Setting IsDraggable to FALSE means that the end user can select a node but cannot drag it. The default value is FALSE.
    Hope this helps...
