Using multiple data points in an item renderer?

I have a datagrid, bound to data from an XML file. My XML has
multiple items,such as:
<book>
<title></title>
<author></author>
<description></description>
<cover>someimage.jpg</cover>
</book>
I need to display each book as a unit, something like:
[image] Moby Dick
Herman Melville
A long book about a whale.
How would I accomplish this? Obviously, I can easily display
the discrete info in columns, but I'd like to lay it out as one
unit.

Use a list control instead of a datagrid. Then use a custom
item renderer based on HBox or VBox depending on your preference
for horizontal or vertical layout... possibly even just a Box
control so you can change it at your whim.

Any examples of a data template using multiple data sources?

I'm looking for an example report using multiple data sources. I've seen one where they do a master/detail but I'm just looking to combine results in sorted order (sorted across all data sources). The master/detail used a bind variable to link the two defined queries, I'm thinking what I want won't have that, so I'm lost on how to make that happen. I have reports using multiple sql queries and there is a way in the data source pulldown to tell it to combine the data sources. It appears to be a more manual process with data templates, if it's even possible.
Any pointers/links would be appreciated.

That's just it. Mine is simpler than that. There is no master/detail relationship between the two queries. I have the same exact query that I run in two databases and I want to merge the results (ordered, by, say eventTime) in one report. So I think my results are going to be two separate groups (one for each data source) which I'll have to let BI merge vis XSLT or whatever it uses. That's fine for small result sets but for larger ones, it would be nice if the database did the sorting/merging.

Need charting help - multiple data points between major ticks

Hi,
I am trying to create an AreaChart in which the data shows a
consumption rate over the course of a week. The major points along
the x-axis will be Monday, Tuesday, ... , Sunday (the days of the
week). However, there are multiple data points between each day. I
only want the days of the week to show on the axis but I want to
plot all of the data points. How would I go about accomplishing
this task?

Thanks, it is getting closer now. My only problem now is that
the data points do not line up correctly with the tick marks. I've

Using a bitmap object as a item renderer in a datagrid

I have a UIComponent grabbed has a bitmap, and stored in an
array collection.
I want to display a thumbnail in a datagrid, I can make a
itemRenderer for an image with a local or remote file as a source.
But how do I use the bitmap in the array collection in an item
renderer.

Call library function node with array of clusters using array data pointer

Hello all.
I am writing a LabVIEW wrapper for an existing DLL function.
The function has, as one of its parameters, an array of structs. The struct is very simple, containing two integers. I am using the call library function node to access it.
In Labview I created an array of clusters, where the cluster has two 32-bit integers as its members. So far, so good.
Now I have to pass this in to the Call Library Function Node. Here I am running into trouble.
I have used The topic in LAVA and The topic in the knowledge base as my primary sources of information, though I have read a bunch of forum topics on the subject too.
I do understand that I could write a new function which takes as a parameter a struct with the size as the first member and an array as the second, and I might just do this and have it call the regular function, but I was hoping to do it more simply.
According to the C file which LabVIEW generates for me from the CLFN when I choose "Adapt to Type" and "Array Data Pointer", the prototype it is expecting is:

This looks like a match to me, but it doesn't work (I get garbage in data). From the topic in LAVA referenced above, I understood that it would work. It does not.
If I cast data to the pointer-to-pointer I get when I generate c code by wiring my struct to a CIN and generating, then I seem to get what I expect. But this seems to work when I choose "pointers to handles" too, and I would expect array data pointer to give a different result.
Is there any way to get this to work directly, or will I have to create a wrapper? (I am currently using LabVIEW 2011, but we have customers using 2009 and 2012, if not other versions as well).

As to the DLL function, it is a bit more complicated than I explained above, in the current case. My VI calls the function by this name in one DLL, and that DLL loads a DLL and calls a function (with the same name) in the second DLL, which does the work. (Thanks Rolfk, for helping me with that one some time back!)

As you can see, I added a temporary diagnostic with the structures that were created in the "Handles by value" case, and print out the data. I see what is expected, whichever of the options I pick in the CLN!
I understood (from the information in the two links I mentioned in my original post, and from the name of the option itself) that "array data pointer" should pass the array of data itself, without the dimSize field. But that does not seem to be what is happening.

SQL Calendar using multiple date columns

Is there any way to have a Calendar look at more than one date column? I know that it is possible to have the calendar based on a range/interval, but I need to display multiple date columns e.g. Marketing Start Date and Sales Start Date. In the Calendar component it seems possible to only choose one 'Date Column'. Has anyone come across this or know of any workaround?

Help: Chart with multiple data points

I would like to create a chart which has 2 data points. The way I know it works, each metric has only one data point. If I want the metric history chart shows 2 data points (y axis) over the same period of time (x axis). Is it possible to do such metric?

Don't believe you can have 2 data points as you are suggesting. Oracle is working on enhancing the reporting framework for EM, but not sure when BI will be there. You can send data from the OMR to an existing BI infrastructure and report from there.

Using multiple dates in WHERE clause

I have a multiple select box in a form. I am trying to select
records in SQL using the list that this form field produces. They
are dateTime values. How do I use this list in the WHERE clause of
my select statement?

Man, I really hate posting anywhere near Dan - I've been
watching his mastery for years. (Talk about the big leagues) But
here goes anyway...
I've gotten my little behind kicked by more than a view date
issues, and I have basically gotten away from exact matches (unless
you really need them).
I'd probably do something like this:

WHERE datetime_column_in_db > (OR LTE,OR GT/LT)
'#datetimeformatyoulike(form.datetimevalue1)#
Basically, finding records in RELATION to the form's datetime
value has always been much easier for me.
And God (and Dan) have mercy on my soul...

MyFitnessPal creating multiple identical data points in Health app. Why?

I am using MyFitnessPal to sync with the Health app. I logged my breakfast this morning using myfitnesspal.com which syncs with the MyFitnessPal app. In many instances (carbohydrates, fat, protein, etc.) multiple data points were created with the exact same value (i.e. there were 6 data points saying 13g fat, adding up to 78g of fat so far today, which is wrong).
Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do to fix it?
I have an iPhone 5, using myfitnesspal.com and the MyFitnessPal app, which syncs to the Health app.

Same problem with the Garmin Connect app... In the Health app, there are 5 identical entries for number of steps every hour, so Health shows me with 5x the number of steps I've actually taken (according to the vivosmart and hence the Garmin Connect app). There are also multiple entries for active calories (although all showing being shared at 12:00am), also using Garmin Connect as the source... apparently, today I've exerted over 12,000 calories!
I've also got MyFitnessPal, and from what I can tell, it appears to be tracking correctly.

Report Viewer and Multiple Data Sources

I know that it is possible to create a report in Crystal Reports using multiple data sources. But is it possible to use just the Free Report Viewer to view a report with Multiple Data Sources?
Our company uses Crystal Reports XI. I do not use the program myself, I am in the IT Department. I have limited knowledge of Crystal and do not do any of the report writing.
If this is possible, and if someone could help me out with what would need to be done, or point me in the right direction of a Knowledge Base or Help Topic that explains this, that would be great.

I believe it can but both data sources need to be set up. Ask a report designer to help you use the Designer to test this and see what is required.

Datagrid and Inline Item renderer problem

I have a datgrid with two inline item renderers. The dataprovider for my DG is a nested object (objects within objects within objects i.e 3-layered).

I use 2 item renderers (one for each datagrid column) which loops thro the 2nd level object1 and 2 respectively (the 2nd level object is a dynamic array of objects, in that the number of objects within keep changing).
Within the item renderer I loop thro the 2nd level object using a foreach and then display the data. The data is a linkbutton, which when clicked , calls a remote object function to delete the data from the database
now on the result event of the remote object function call, i call the function to repopulate the DG, so that the updated data is displayed.
When i click on the linkbutton in the first row, the backend works perfectly fine (the data gets deleted from the database and the refreshed data is sent back), but for some reason, the deleted data suddenly appears in the 2nd row.
When i delete it from the second row, it appears on the 3rd row (nothing happens in the backend since the data is already deleted).. and so on, till it appears on the last row and then the DG looks exactly the way it shld have looked after the first delete.
This is just the beginning. The second item renderer also displays a linkbutton, which when clicked, displays that data in the previous column (the one where this data can be deleted). When i click on 1st row, the data gets added in the previous column of the second row .. and so on..
Basically, my DG is acting really weird. I overrided the set data function in the item renderer to refrsh the data and called its invalidateDisplayList. I also call the Datagrid's invalidateDisplayList function after each refresh. The behavior remains the same.
Please help me on this ...

I have a label used as an item renderer and the dataprovider frequently changes. I need my label to remember the value of the previous number it was assigned to {data.ask} but am having trouble doing this.
Any ideas how to do this?

Increase performance in a multiple data source report

Hi everybody.
I have a big problem, when i make a report that have multiple data sources the performance decrease considerably, i still don't know the reason. Is it true that using multiple data sources is too slow?.
I tell you a fact: I made the report connecting via "Field Definition File", and it take at least 2 minutes to show itself but it only have 170 records, and i'm very sure that the sql statements to each data source were executed very faster.
I even heard about index, but i think they only are useful when i connect directly to the database.
All my partner told me, that Cristal Report

Thanks you, but I explain better what i was doing.
I've made a report called "Kardex de Producto" which show the behavior of the products according to its sales, purchases.
The end result which is showed by the report is correct. I used three data source in the report, so links between each table is correct. The only problem i have is the performance because i still don't know why is too slow. In fact the sql statement is very heavy, but i think it doesn't matter to the report because when it takes the data from the database (connecting via Field Definition File) even if the very heavy sql statement returns twenty record Cristal Report must show itself very quickly. Report Builder with multiple data series

I am not able to figure out how to create a bar chart using
multiple data series in the Report Builder. I can do it with
explicit CFML coding but not in the Report Builder. I am running MX
version 7 with the current (as of 9/1/07) download of the Report
Builder.
My table contains visit information by site, with standard
demographics on each visit (age, race, gender, etc.) I am trying to
analyze the data by site, for example, race by site.
I am using an SQL statement to sort and group by site &
race. I can get a chart of the number of visits for each site or
the total number of visits by race across all sites. But I can't
get race by site. The SQL statement looks like this:
SELECT race, site, COUNT(*) as counter
FROM visit_info WHERE userid = #session.uid#
GROUP BY site, race ORDER by site, race
Every variation I have tried for showing race by site either
leaves out part of the results or creates a bar chart that has the
race and site categories as separate entities (White, Black,
Chinese, Site1, Site2, Site3, etc). I've also tried creating a
combined variable (site_race) but that doesn't seem to fare any
better.
Any help would be appreciated.

Badunit's example is one possible arrangement that you might have described; that is, one column for X values and several columns for Y values. This is the case when you should respond that you are sharing X-values. With all the data in one table, you can select it all at once, so you don't have the problem with dragging additional series into the chart.
The Numbers User Guide PDF's first chapter is the place to start getting your bearings - you will learn how to distinguish Header vs. Body rows and columns. It's worth the effort to take another look at it.
Since you are using a Scatter Chart, it's important not to use a header column for X because X values must be Numeric, as opposed to Text.
