Using nican.dll with Delphi 6

How can I use the nican.dll in my Delphi application? Where can I find a pascal interface to the nican.dll?

Hello-
The nican.dll can be accessed directly in many languages. The language vendor should be able to describe how to access dll's in their language.

  • Problems in using Labview DLL with TestStand!

    Hi,
    I tried to put the VI's to create a TCP/IP Connection, read/write Data to it and close it inside a LabVIEW DLL and use these functions with TestStand.
    The problem is to get access to the ConnectionID generated as TCP Network Refnum in LabVIEW.
    I don't know how to specify the prototype entry for this Refnum in LabVIEW and how to read it with TestStand.
    Another try to pass an ActiveXReference of SequenceContext and use the SetValIDispatch method to set a local variable (Type: ActiveXReference) to the returned ConnectionID of the TCPOpen.VI wasn't successful too.
    It seems to me that the connectionID isn't a normal ActiveXReference.
    Regards,
    Sunny

    Hi Sunny -
    You should treat this parameter as a pointer to an int when calling the DLL from TestStand (or any language like C or C++). Note that you can't do anything with the value outside of LabVIEW since it only has meaning inside of LabVIEW. You can only pass it around for use in other VIs you call from TestStand.
    Hope this helps....

    Hi! I have a dll in my windows which make a password encryption (ok, I know that Java can do it to, but my client wants to use THIS dlls...). I need to use a function from this dll, I need to give the dll a parameter and I expect a result from it, a String result.

    actually, you have to go through the JNI nightmare before you can access libraries from the outside, and ActiveX dlls just won't work. I'm not 100% sure, but check in the Native Method section of this forum, and those guys there would know more about it.

  • Can I use NIDAQ32.dll with more than one application?

    We have some third party hardware and software which uses a PCI-6602 board and NIDAQ. I wanted to use some of the functions of the board for something else in a VB 6.0 program, but I always got errors with NIDAQ32.dll not being found if the third party software was running. It worked fine if I closed their software. I talked to NI, and they said you could not access a board with two applications at once. Fine, so I bought a PCI-6601 to put in the system to do my other functions. However, I still get the same error, saying the NIDAQ32.dll can not be found when I try to run my VB program. Anybody have a solution? I really need this to work, or this board is pretty useless to me...
    -Matt

    Matt,
    You CAN access a board with two applications at once. However, you can not access the same resource on a board with two applications at once. Analog input, analog output, and digital I/O are each their own separate resources. Each individual counter is a separate resource. Since your application works fine with the third-party software closed it sounds like your third-party software is doing something to the NIDAQ32.dll. I recommend contacting the developers of the third-party software and finding out what they are doing with the NIDAQ32.dll and if they even intended other applications to access the DLL at the same time.

  • How to use VS2005 dlls with jni?

    Hello,
    I have a java application using jni and some dlls.
    Previously this dlls were created using VS2003. Now I want to use VS2005 and I
    encountered some problems.
    Everything is working on my station were I have installed VS2005 but when I try to run the
    application on other station (a test station) is not working.
    I get the following error:
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: C:\App\Test.dll: This application has failed to start because
    the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem
         at java.lang.ClassLoader$NativeLibrary.load(Native Method)
         at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary0(Unknown Source)
         ......First I tried to search all the dependences and copied all missing dlls from my work station to the test
    station in the application directory. Still not working.
    when dlls were made with VS2003 I had only 3 dependences: mfc71d, msvcp71d, msvcr71d. With this dlls in
    the application directory everything was fine.
    Second I tried to install .Net framework(2.0) and vcredist (VS2005_sp1) but still nothing.
    What I'm doing wrong? Is somebody which is using dlls made in VS2005 with jni?
    Thank you
    ,Dragos

    IIRC, that message means the manifest file in the DLL points to assembly that your computer doesn't have, or it has no manifest file.
    You either need to:
    -recompile using static linking so that it has no dependencies
    -stick the correct manifest in
    -include the entire SxS (site by side) assembly folders with your application (only the ones you're dependent on). These are found in something similar to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\redist\x86

  • Has anyone done this before? (using Win32 dll with Java)

    I was wondering if anyone has succesfully completely embedded a Win32 DLL and having it launched in a Java backend using JNI? It would seem that WinMain() would be the barrier to doing this. I'm talking about containing the entire frontend inside a DLL and having it launched using a Java backend.

    1. As far as I know, dll's don't have winmains.
    2. Your wording is rather imprecise; how about getting rid of "frontend"and "backend", and asking your question again?
    (The JNI features of java allow either C or java to be the "main program; C can call java, and java can call C.)

    Hi
    Make sure you have installed ni-rio 2.1 Here is the Link . Or ni-985x 1.2.1. Here is the Link.  NI-CAN supports only cRIO 900x controllers running Pharlap RT. There is no support for cRIO 90xx Controllers running Vx Works. The use of NI-CAN api functions makes only sense if you try to use the virtual interface for frame to channel conversion. Otherwise you have to use the FPGA elemental I/O to access the 985x  c-series modules. The cRIO drivers mentioned above install examples for these cases. The LabVIEW help describes the "How to".

  • Using stored procedures with a timestamp parameter with Delphi  and ADO

    Dear Oracle experts,
    I have a problem concerning using a stored procedure with Delphi.
    I try to use a stored procedure which hast two input parameters ( a integer and a timestamp).
    The timestamp parameter is my problem since I would like to use the "to_timestamp"
    Oracle-function to create the timestamp parameter to be inserted into my procedure.
    If I insert the to_timestamp statement as a adodatetime I have to perform the conversion to the oracle timestamp in my application.
    If I want to use the to_timestamp statement I have to use the ftstring datatype but in that case I get an error because I use a string as input for my procedure were it awaits a timestamp.
    So the problem seems to be that the function call "to_timestamp" is not interpreted if it is transferred through my ADO component.
    Do you know how to use a procedure with Delphi (ADO) with a function as input parameter ?
    Best regards,
    Daniel Wetzler
    P.S. :
    This is the Delphi code to use my Procedure.
    FactsTempDS:=TADODataset.Create(nil);
    Sproc1 := TAdoStoredProc.Create(nil);
    Sproc1.Connection := TDBConnection(strlistConnectionstrings.objects[iConnectionIndex]).Connection;
    Sproc1.ProcedureName := 'ECSPACKAGE.PROCFINDINITIALSWITCHSTATE';
    Sproc1.Parameters.CreateParameter ('SwitchID',ftInteger,pdinput,0,0);
    //Sproc1.Parameters.CreateParameter ('StartTime',ftdatetime,pdinput,50,0);
    Sproc1.Parameters.CreateParameter ('StartTime',ftString,pdinput,50,0);
    Sproc1.Parameters.Findparam('SwitchID').value:=SwitchID;
    Sproc1.Parameters.FindParam('StartTime').Value:= 'to_timestamp(''2005/12/30 19:36:21'', ''YYYY/MM/DD HH:MI:SS'')';
    Sproc1.CursorType := ctKeyset;
    Sproc1.ExecuteOptions:=[];
    Sproc1.Open;
    Sproc1.Connection := nil;
    FactsTempDS.Recordset:= sproc1.Recordset;
    if FactsTempDS.RecordCount=0
    then raise Exception.Create('No line switch variable found for switch '+IntToStr(SwitchID)+' before starttime. Check BDE dump filter.')

    I have my entity manager setup in a singleton.
    I'm finding it's costly to generate the emf, but if I don't close the em (enitity manager) and emf (entity manager factory) my open cursor count climbs until I exceed the max number of open cursors on the database (11g RAC)
    I'm committing the connection, and uow, and closing the em at the end of each call.
    But until I close the emf, the open cursors aren't released.
    TransactionhistoryPkg tranPkg = new TransactionhistoryPkg(conn); //Class created over database package via JPublisher
    tranPkg.transactionhistoryInsSp(insertTrans.getCardId()); // executes db package
    tranPkg.closeConnection();
    conn.commit();
    uow.commit();
    uow.getAccessor().decrementCallCount();
    em.close();
    Am I missing something really obvious here??
    btw - I found this link helpful in troubleshooting the max cursors issue: https://support.bea.com/application_content/product_portlets/support_patterns/wls/InvestigatingORA-1000MaximumOpenCursorsExceededPattern.html

    U can use it if u sign the applet. It is a bit trick way though.

  • Call a Borland Delphi DLL with Structs from LabView

    Hello,
    I have a problem to build an equivalent Struct in Labview to the following Struct which I want to retrieve from a DLL.
    type
    TM2DScanline=record
    YWert:double;
    XWert:array[0..raster] of double;
    ZWert:array[0..raster] of double;
    IWert:array[0..raster] of byte;
    end;
    M2DScanArea =array[0..maxScans] of TM2DScanline;
    PointerToScanArea=^M2DScanArea;
    PointerToScanArea is the parameter I want to retrieve.
    If anybody knows a way for doing this, help would be very appreciated
    Thanks
    Peter

    Are raster and maxScans both constant? If I recall correctly, many dialects of Pascal just lay the elements of a fixed-size array out in memory with no size parameter; if this is the case with Delphi, then you may be able to do the following (in my example, I'll assume "raster" is a constant set to 40, and maxScans is a constant set to 5):
    Create a cluster called XWert with 40 Numeric elements (representation: DBL).
    Copy XWert and name the copy ZWert.
    Create a cluster called IWert with 40 Numeric elements (representation: U8).
    Create a cluster called TM2DScanline.
    Create a Numeric inside TM2DScanline called YWert (representation: DBL).
    Drag XWert, then ZWert, then IWert into TMD2Scanline.
    Create a cluster called ScanArea and drag 5 copies of TMD2Scanline into it.
    Create a Call Library node on your block diagram, give it your DLL and function name, and set the return value to whatever your Delphi function returns. You probably want the WINAPI calling convention.
    Add a parameter and make it "Adapt to Type: Pointers to Handles". Close the node and wire the ScanArea cluster to the input.
    Right-click on the Call Library Node and select "Create .c file...." Read through the C file to make sure its structure is similar to your Delphi record: you should see five copies of the TM2DScanline structure, each of which contains a double followed by two fixed 40-element structures of double and a fixed 40-element structure of unsigned char. You should see no reference to the word "Hdl" anywhere in the code.
    This strategy will only work if the arrays in your records are fixed at a constant size, and if Delphi lays out the arrays in memory as described above. Instead of doing all this work, you may want to write a small C or Pascal wrapper around your Delphi function. This wrapper could take simpler parameter types (which are easier to use from LabVIEW) and bundle them into the cluster before calling your Delphi function.

  • Using an external DLL with "Call Library Function"

    Hi!
    I am trying to use an external DLL which is used from Visualbasic & Delphi:
    http://www.keb.de/common/tools/KEBCOMDriver.zip
    the protKEB.dll accesses the serial port to control an KEB frequency
    inverter.
    Unfortunatly there is no prototype header file for the DLL (no help on that
    from KEB).
    I only have a VisualBasic example program which works with the DLL.
    (Unfortunatly I am no Visual basic expert)
    To initialize the com port I have to use the function: setprotproperties &
    getprotproperties
    they are declared as:
    'Setting the protocol properties
    'ctrl is a pointer to a data structure of type tProtProperty
    Declare Sub setprotproperties Lib "protkeb.DLL" (ctrl As Any)
    'Reading the protocol properties
    'ctrl is a pointer to a data structure of type tProtProperty
    'the desired protocol is entered in ctrl.prottype before calling
    Declare Sub getprotproperties Lib "protkeb.DLL" (ctrl As Any)
    and tProtProperty is:
    Public Type tProtProperty
    ProtType As Long 'Type of Protocol (tProt)
    TimeOut As Long 'ALL protocols
    Baudrate As Long 'ANSI, HSP5
    Comport As Long 'ANSI, HSP5
    Flag As Long 'ANSI, HSP5: 01 = Sendslow
    / IP: 01 = UDP
    Port As Long 'IPort number
    Txtlen As Byte 'IP : length of following
    text or 0
    txt As String * 100 'IP : IP-Address or name
    (maximum length)
    End Type
    I already tried to use a cluster with tProtProperty entries as an Input for
    the function
    setprotproperty in a call library function with:
    Parameter Type : Adapt to type
    Data Format: Pointer to Handle
    but I always get an "exception within external code....."
    What am I doing wrong?
    How does a cluster & a "call library function node" look like that works?
    Any help is really appreciated!
    thanks

    Thomas,
    LabVIEW cannot call a DLL that has structures directly, you will need to create either a wrapper DLL or CIN that will take in all of the data individually construct the structure, and send it to the DLL function.
    For more information on what a cluster looks like in native code, I would suggest creating a simple cluster, creating a Call Library Function Node on the block diagram with a cluster input. Then right-click on the Call Library Function Node and choose "Create .c file". This will generate the data structure for the cluster and give you a better feel for it. I would then suggest going to the Using External Code in LabVIEW manual that can be found in the LabVIEW Bookshelf (Start»Programs»National Instruments»LabVIEW 6»LabVIEW Manuals or »LabV
    IEW 6.1»Search the LaBVIEW Bookshelf).

  • Create a DLL with asynchronous calls in LabVIEW for use in another environment.

    Hello All,
    I need to create a DLL in LabVIEW that is going to be used from inside a Delphi environment.
    The thing that confuses me is that I don't know how to create asynchronous functions.
    Let me further explain.
    I want to have an "Init" function.
    This function starts a continuous dataacquisition process. The dataacquisition process continuously samples data at a rate of 1Msamples/sec. (in blocks of 4096 samples each time)
    I want to have an "Abort" function.
    This function stops the continuous dataacquisition process.
    The third function I need is a "MeasureAndAnalyse" function.
    If this function is called, the following block of 4096 samples is processed (FFT, ...) to retrieve the valid data.
    The fourth function can be used to check if the MeasurementAndAnalyse function is ready and return the actual result if this function is ready.
    What I don't know is how I can do all of this asynchronously.
    In my opinion the LabVIEW vi's I make are all synchronous.
    How to do this asynchronously???
    Does anybody know of an example of a similar thing?
    Thanks in advance for all the help!
    Dennis.

    Ok, after somem ore searching I found an example called "Building Asynchronous DLLs in LabVIEW".
    I will give that a try.
