Using nio, read method return 0 when readable key was selected.

I'm so sorry for my ugly English. -_-;;
Our server(that was designed by me).
read method return 0 continuously. when readble key was selected.
So the code fallen into infinite loop. and the server was hanged.
How can i solve this problem?

Best to eliminate the most obvious possibilities first. Next question is which JDK are you using? There were bugs in this area in 1.4.0 and 1.4.1.

This is a new but complicated form with many nested subforms.
It seems to render if I save the form as a PDF, and render it with the standard Process Management "Render PDF Form" service.
If I save it as an XDP, and try to render it Reader Extended it dies like this.
Any help or Ideas are greatly appreciated.

It appears the form had incorrect bindings for a list object that resulted in recursion.

Everything works well, until getting to the block

The getDate("DATE", Calendar.getInstance())); always returns null, instead of the date value in the vwo-1.csv.
Even though I change it to
java.sql.Date d=db.result.getDate("DATE") and convert to String using .toString(), I still gets nulls. The dollar amount in "Adj Close" field is fine, no problem.
The .csv fils is downloaded from YahooFinace.
Can anyone review the code and shed some light as to what I did wrong?

Help! isReachable method returns false while port 7 was prohibited

SUN said about isReachable method as follow :

but when I prohibited port 7 of the destination host, the isReachable method only returns false while I can ping successfully.

How do i return data, when my sql was opened in a ref cursor.

In Pl/sql, I was been bunged in the following situation:
I am opening a ref cursor, where i couldn't determine the return type. In that case how will i return the data for those sql.
Sample code :

Type a_ref IS REF CURSOR;

Fetch c1 into ??????;

My doubt resides in ??? part..
The columns in the select clause will vary dynamically.
Hence how can I declare my variable..

Buffered Reader read() method

I'm trying to read a data file using the BufferedReader.read() method. Where the file is valid data I cast to a char and build up a string which then gets written to a flat file.
Some of the bytes I need to read are pointers to a position in another file. These I want to read as integers, and I would expect to be able to use the value returned by the read() method directly.
However I have a problem when the pointer byte has a value from hex 80 to 99 (I can see these using 'hex' on a LINUX system). The values returned are not what I would expect eg. where I would expect 128, I get 8364, expecting 130 I get 8218 and 131, I get 402.
Above 159, things appear to be working as I would expect.

BufferedReader should only be used to read character data. The value you get from the read method is not the value that was in the file. BufferedReader simply reads character data from an underlying Reader. Your underlying reader is probably an InputStreamReader or a FileReader. Both of those readers perform a transformation from the byte data to the characters using some character encoding. If you want the actual values, you must read them from the InputStream directly or use a DataInputStream

Question about read method of InputStream

I am using read method of InputStream to read a stream from a remote machine. The network connection is not very stable (for example, a wireless network whose the signal strength is relatively low). I am wondering if read method returns -1 (which indicates the end of the stream has been reached), and if I invoke read method again on the same stream, is it possible to read any more data?
I think maybe I can read some more data even if read returns -1 in one time because the connection is not very stable. I am looking for your comments to my problem in my specific situation.

You can't. When you're in most of the PDF readers, the Share button gives you the option of Open In another app. But iBooks does not.
You need to add your PDFs through the iTunes method which Alec wrote about here:

Or you can use another way of transferring your PDF to the iPad, like Dropbox. You install the Dropbox app on your iPad and copy your PDF from Dropbox (cloud application). It opens in Dropbox app and you use the Share icon to move it into Reader.

Determine when a database was backed up without using MSDB tables?

I was wondering if there was another method to determine when a database was last backed up without using the backup history tables in msdb? whether using DBCC DBINFO, DBCC PAGE on a specific database page...etc.
Also, when restoring a database, is there a trace flag you can use to force restore details to be written to the error log?

The backup success message is written to the log, but the question is whether you can get restore information outside of successful restore messages to the log. i.e. backup file header information
And on a server I just restored a database too, if its not the source server, there will be no backup information in MSDB for the database or log file. Is there something internal to the database that would have that information?

if you restore the database -- your msdb database has restore tables, that will tell you where you got the backup from etc..

Adobe form-Able to post data using Adobe Reader 9 but not with Adobe Proff

We have develoed a adobe form using adobe reader 9.
Now when user are posting the purchase requistion using the form,they are able to post the data using
Adobe Reader 9 but not with Adobe Reader professional.
Can anyone please advice me what can be the problem here.

Adobe Reader 9 can't save the old FDA forms. FDA must update their forms.

Problem reopening and/or refreshing PDF files using Acrobat Reader V. 8.0

I upgraded to Adobe Acrobat Reader V. 8.0 and have encountered problems refreshing PDF files in the Safari 2.0.4 browser when I am logged into the secure area for Value Line Publishing. Some of the PDF Files in this area can be opened and/or refreshed multiple times. Other PDF files in this area allow me to open them once. I cannot reopen those previously viewed files (or refresh the screen) -- after refreshing, the window changes to a blank white screen, and the files do not reopen.
I am perplexed because I do not have difficulty refreshing the PDF files (within Safari) using the native PDF viewer, I did not have problems refreshing files using Acrobat Reader V. 7.0 and I do not appear to have problems refreshing PDF files using Acrobat Reader V. 8.0 when I am outside the secure area or on other web sites.
I have replaced the Acrobat Reader plug-in, manually removed all remnants of previous versions of Acrobat Reader and reinstalled V. 8.0. and I also upgraded from Mac OS 10.4.8 to 10.4 9, all to no avail.
I can clear the Safari cache files as a temporary solution, but I encounter the same difficulties with the “problematic” files once they have been opened again.
I can also download the PDF files to my hard drive and refresh them multiple times within Safari and also using Acrobat Reader V. 8.0
The software personnel at Value Line Publishing have investigated their system and have referred me back to Apple. Has anyone heard of similar problems associated with Adobe Acrobat Reader V. 8.0 used in conjunction with Safari 2.0.4?

This sounds like one of those "oddities", contributed to by a few sources.
I can clear the Safari cache files as a temporary solution, but I encounter the same difficulties with the “problematic” files once they have been opened again.
Wondering if you disabled the Safari Cache would the refresh function work correctly? As a test you can disable the Safari Cache by Emptying the Cache first via the Safari menu, then Quit Safari. Now go to the Finder>Your User Library>Caches>Safari. Single click on the Safari folder, then Apple Key + I to open Info panel. There, check the "locked" box. This prevents further additions to the cache. The downside, you lose your ability to upload images etc. within Safari (my cache is disabled, so I use Firefox for the uploads).
Then restart Safari. Try the PDF from within Safari.

Default button being clicked multiple times when enter key is pressed

There seems to be a strange difference in how the default button behaves in JRE 1.4.X versus 1.3.X.
In 1.3.X, when the enter key was pressed, the default button would be "pressed down" when the key was pressed, but wouldn't be fully clicked until the enter key was released. This means that only one event would be fired, even if the enter key was held down for a long time.
In 1.4.X however, if the enter key is pressed and held for more than a second, then the default button is clicked multiple times until the enter key is released.
Consider the following code (which is just a dialog with a button on it):

Does anyone know how I can make it behave the "old way" (when the default button was only clicked once)?

I think I have found a solution. The behaviour of the how the default button is triggered is contained withing the RootPaneUI. So, if I override the default RootPaneUI used by the UIDefaults with my own RootPaneUI, I can define that behaviour for myself.
Here is my simple dialog with a button and a textfield (when the focus is NOT on the button, and the enter key is pressed, I don't want the actionPerformed method to be called until the enter key is released):

Tjacobs, I still don't see how adding a key listeners or overriding the processKeyEvent method on my button would help. The button won't receive the key event unless the focus is on the button. There is no method "enableEvents(...)" in the AWTEventMulticaster. Perhaps you have some code examples? Thanks anyway for your help.

That will tell you the date and place of manufacture.
To know the purchase date you'd have to have Apple (genius) run your serial # They keep records on the date of purchase and original purchaser.
If you're not the original purchaser you might need to know who that was. I ran into this when getting a purchased eMac repaired under the extended warranty. They needed to know who I purchased it from and I didn't exactly remember but close enough to get the repair done. There were also records of all work done on the machine.

you can use JISAutoDetect encoding.
