Using non-XML content in a report key

I have the desire within a proxy service to log a particular key/value pair in a report log where the key value is not within any XML document I have.
Basically, during the logic within the proxy service, the service has come up with a specific result that I want to log for tracking purposes. The results varry depending on the input XML to the service, but none of the results are actual values anywhere in the input XML document. Currently I have the result I want to put in the key/value pair as just a local assigned variable.
If I try to report on that variable, I receive "XPath can only be executed against XML or MFL content". Even if I fake some XML in the varible (ie <logThis>Hello</logThis> ) I get the same message.
Is there way to report on values not within the input XML document?

You will need to assign an xml variable first even if they are constants.
<Report>
<key>ID</key>
<value>{ data($header/wsa:MessageID) }</value>
</Report>
to "report"
And then get the values from it in your Report.
./key in report
./value in report
Also, be careful when using Report in a JMS proxy. Even though it is supposed to be async, the Report will not commit in the case of an exception. Even if the Report action is in the error handler! A solution to this is to build a common Report proxy (either local or jms) and publish your Report xml to it.

class, I have retreived the xml content in the meta_data object, after that i have converted into character array and this will be sends to SAX

XML - On The Fly Report Error-

We are using the XML On The Fly report generation option to show the measurement data to our operators while they are testing the products.
But we have experienced that this option isn’t updating the report field in the TestStand Editor or OI correctly during execution when a sub seq. is calling a sub seq (not a abnormal situation).
It looks like that the “ProcessOTFStepResult” in “reportgen_xml.seq” can’t add the “StepResultBody” to the “ResultBody” when the call stack exceed 3 levels.
Is this an Option (adjustable), Limitation or a bug? Is there a solution to this problem?
I have attached an example that show the problem. It’s made in TS 3.1 but the problem is also seen in 3.5. Run it with the sequential model. It shows a dialog in each level of sub sequences, so it’s possible to follow the OTF report generation in the report tab. In the end (when the call stack is increased again all the report items is updated correctly.)

As it is designed today, the logger requires that the SQL statement contain an INSERT command. If it is not found, I do not believe that on-the-fly logging will work if the schema defines a foreign key to the UUT record.
Now, I have not tried this, but if the step result statements in the schema do not define their UUT_RESULT columns as foreign keys, the logger will just assume that they are data that you will provide, and it will not attempt to log a placeholder for the UUT record. So I believe you can then set the expression for the UUT_RESULT in the step results to assign the UUT key and the logger will just log it as a value. The database schema will likely have a constraint, but if you pre-create the record as you were suggesting, the constraint will be satisfied when you log the step result. Lastly when the UUT completes, the logger will just log the values using the UPDATE statement that you supplied.
Note that we already do have a internal suggestion/problem tracking issue (ID 47056), specifically to add support to log more than just the key for the UUT result and parent sequence call steps, but we have not determined how easy that would be and whether there are any backwards compatibility issues.

I'm using EP7 on NW7.01 EhP1. When trying to use the XML content export tool I get an error:

Using Views to access XML Content

I was wondering if anyone can help me in these questions.
I created a view to access XML Content in the database for reports. My first question is I have 18 properties in the xml document but when I created the view I only retrieve one property information. What dO I need to change in my XPath query to get all the properties see script below

Import of XML file failed in portal using XML Content and Action

I am trying to import the simple XML file which is just creating the folder in the PORTAL_CONTENT using XML CONTENT AND ACTIONS which is one way of creating the portal content. GO TO SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION > TRANSPORT > XML CONTENT AND ACTIONS > IMPORT.
The reason for using this import tool is to upload the backend Business roles, which is not not working on our corporate portal. To test the import functionality I used the following xml file (I got this XML file by exporting the test folder in the portal using the same tool)

OSB11g - using Concatenation function in report key - Xpath

While using this Xpath expression validation is sucessfull but concatenation operation is not working when checked in the message reports under operations tab.

can you try assign concatenated value to some xml element first, like
assign : <value>{fn:concat(a,b)}</value> to e.g. value
and then report key ./text() in variable $value

How to write non-XML data to a file using an OSB FTP Routing?

Hi --
Situation ... I need to write non-XML data to a file using FTP. A proxy service retrieves XML and transforms it with XSLT to CSV format, then gives it to a Biz service to file it out, using FTP. Simple.
Problem ... OSB sends the contents of $body to any service it calls. Because $body is a SOAP document, it has to contain XML. So therefore I have to put my CSV data into an XML element, in order to put it into $body; and this inner element then gets written to the file, which I don’t want. But if I don't enclose my CSV content in a tag, I get "Unexpected CDATA encountered" trying to assign it to a variable.
There has to be away around this!

Solved. Steps:
-- Transform the XML to CSV using an XSL transform. Put the CSV data inside enclosing XML elements, and use a Replace action to put the XML element + CSV contents back into *$body*.
-- Define an MFL transform that only knows about the enclosing XML elements. Use a delimiter of "\n" (hard return).
-- Route from the proxy service to a Biz service that has Service Type = Messaging Service and Request Message Type = MFL; specify the MFL transform, which will receive the incoming *$body* variable, strip off the enclosing XML element within it, and pass the CSV contents to the FTP service.

You need to maintain the validity period on which your stock can be calculated. The user will see special values when asking for stock outside this period (don't remember the special value).
It can be a fixed period (in a first step, I will recommend that). For instance : from 01.01.1000 to 31.12.9999. Thus you will never have any error.
It can also be a dynamic period (generally linked to the last data load).

Report using an XML Source

We have developed some servlets which will generate XML output under a given schema depending on the parameters passed to them.
After reading about the XML pluggable data source we where wondering if it is possible to set the XML source of the report to point to our servlets as the source of the XML stream. Is it possible to point to
http://myserver.com/myapp/myservlet as the source for the XML Document used in the report.
We need to dynamically pass parameters to this servlet in order to generate the required XML document... is it possible to pass this parameters to the report, so it could access the servlet with them? like
http://myserver.com/myapp/myservlet?docid=10
Doing so will let us re-use our XML servlets as sources for our reports avoiding separate connections and processes in the DB. Is this possible?

Is it possible to use an XML Data Template to create a report in APEX?

Hi,
I have created an XML Data Template in BI Publisher passing one parameter and running two queries, then created an RTF Document Template to present the data.
I can create a nice report in BI Publisher using the two elements. I have used RTF Document Templates to publish reports in APEX but the data comes from a Report region running a single query.
I would like to run a report based in this kind of XML Data Template, in order to use several children queries related to a parent query. Is it possible to do it in APEX, or you have to use BI Publisher?

I have the similar question. I used data templates in BI Publisher but now I want to use the same data template in Apex to print some reports.
I tried to some examples but these were only using report queries. I also tried with the Web Service but this didn't work for me either maybe because I didn't
used it in the right way. When I used the WS I received the binary of the report so the WS worked it was just the how and where to use it that didn't work for me.
Now this older entry is BUMPED maybe we find a solution for our problem this way.

But in my case i want to use 4 view objects to generate report as pdf. So, kindly suggest me how to resolve this issue.

Hi,
When we develop simple XML report also we used to get single data source either generated either from RDF or PL/SQL, in OAF XML data is coming from VO and XML Publisher API’s will process that data.
This approach works fine if you are having one VO, but if you are having two VOs then it is not possible (As per my understanding and comparing this scenario with simple XML publisher report).
I also faced same problem few months back, on my form I was having two VOs one for header and other for Lines and I have generate Report to show the data for both Headers and Lines. In my case I created a separate VO that was containing both Header and Line details and I was passing header Id to query that. I used query this VO only when someone clicks on “Print” button and it worked fine for me.

I have applied the solution what you suggested above (<cfprocessingdrirective suppresswhitespaces="yes"), still whitespaces are existing in my output.
The output what I am getting is,

However this solution removes most of the whitespaces, I want exact output as flash file is expecting so..
Where ever I am calling the CF functions, there I am getting the whitespaces. like below cases.
startdate="#getProjectStartDate(sProjectIdList)#" -> output I am getting for this statement is -> " 12/09/2009 "

Using Non cumulative key figure in Real time cube

Hi gurus,
I have used non cumulative key figure in a real time cube and when i tried to enter some data using RSINPUT ,it is giving an error and the data is not getting saved.
Can anyone please tell me how to use the Non cumulative key figure in the Real time cube .

Hi Ravi,
Please make sure that when you use a non cumulative key figure iun your real time info cube, then choose a time reference characteristic for that key figure.
Then, this time reference characteristic applies for all the non-cumulative values of the InfoCube and must be the u201Csmallestu201D of the time characteristics present in the InfoCube.
