Using ODBC driver FOXPRO DBF

Hello, i am defining a connection using ODBC with foxpro, i am able to see the table but not the column
Are there parameters to adapt somewhere (SBO,...)

Hi Bertrand
Please let me know the following information:
- Exact version of Crystal Reports Designer. (For this information open Crystal Reports. Go to Help > About Crystal Reports).
- Exact version of the Business Objects Enterprise.
- Exact version of the Database.
- Type and the version of the driver used to connect.
- Are you able to view all the columns when you create Crystal Report directly using ODBC connection?
- What happens if you create the Data Connection using OLEDB or Native connection?
Hope this helps.
Thanks!

  • Minimum Install for Using ODBC Driver.

    What is the minimum installation required for using ODBC from a client machine.
    EG I have an application in Access and I want to connect to a table on my oracle server. The user machine, has Access installed, and I don't wnat to install the whole 50 megs(OK I exagerate A little but not much) of NET 8 client just so they can look at a table in Access from Oracle.
    What specific elements are necessary in the install, TCP/IP, Named pipe protocol adapters?, required support files?, SQL*plus 8?
    Say its a version 8.0.4 server for arguments sake and I want the least hassle setting up 50 users who already have office installed with the latest version of MS ODBC32, they have no Oracle software on their machines.
    null

    Unfortunately, you'll need to do at least a minimal Oracle client install. While we probably don't actually rely on everything that gets installed here, we don't test our driver with anything less than a minimal install.

  • Cannot create DSN using ODBC Driver 8.1.5

    I was able to create new DSNs using Oracle ODBC Driver 8.1.5 and linked Access tables. But all of a sudden (yes, without any reason, I was not downloading anything at that time) , I got ODBC-Call Failed. And when I tried to reopen (browse) the linked table, a message saying -
    One of the library files needed to run this application cannot be found.
    Then I realized that I cannot configure existing DSNs using Oracle ODBC Driver 8.1.5. I trid to create a new one. But after I selected the Oracle ODBC Driver, it did not bring me to the screen to set up DSN, and just went back to the same ODBC Datasource Administrator window.
    I tried to use SQL Plus to connect to the Oracle server and it worked. But when I tried the ODBCtest, I got the same message with more details -
    SQLSTATE: IM003, Native Error Code: 160, Driver Message: Specified Driver could ont be loaded due to system error 1114. (Oracle ODBC Driver).
    I tried to follow the 'help' hint but nothing's working. I reinstalled the ODBC driver, and even downloaded the MDAC 2.6 that appeared in one old discussion topic, but still have problems.
    Was it something suddenly crashed? Could someone please help? (p.s. I am using win98). Thanks!

    What version of the mfc42*.dll's do you have in your system directory?

  • Using SQLBindParameter, SQLPrepare and SQLExecute to insert a Decimal(5,3) type fails with SQLSTATE: 22003 using ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server

    Hello everyone.
    I'm using SQL Server 2014, and writting on some C++ app to query and modify the database. I use the ODBC API.
    I'm stuck on inserting an SQL_NUMERIC_STRUCT value into the database, if the corresponding database-column has a scale set.
    For test-purposes: I have a Table named 'decTable' that has a column 'id' (integer) and a column 'dec' (decimal(5,3))
    In the code I basically do:
    1. Connect to the DB, get the handles, etc.
    2. Use SQLBindParameter to bind a SQL_NUMERIC_STRUCT to a query with parameter markers. Note that I do include the information about precision and scale, something like: SQLBindParameter(hstmt, 2, SQL_PARAM_INPUT, SQL_C_NUMERIC, SQL_NUMERIC, 5, 3, &numStr,
    sizeof(cbNum), &cbNum);
    3. Prepare a Statement to insert values, something like: SQLPrepare(hstmt, L"INSERT INTO decTable (id, dec) values(?, ?)", SQL_NTS);
    4. Set some valid data on the SQL_NUMERIC_STRUCT
    5. Call SQLExecute to execute. But now I get the error:
    SQLSTATE: 22003; nativeErr: 0 Msg: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server]Numeric value out of range
    I dont get it what I am doing wrong. The same code works fine against IBM DB2 and MySql. I also have no problems reading a SQL_NUMERIC_STRUCT using SQLBindCol(..) and the various SQLSetDescField to define the scale and precision.
    Is there a problem in the ODBC Driver of the SQL Server 2014?
    For completeness, here is a working c++ example:
    // InsertNumTest.cpp
    // create database using:
    create a table decTable with an id and a decimal(5,3) column:
    SET ANSI_NULLS ON
    GO
    SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
    GO
    CREATE TABLE[dbo].[decTable](
    [id][int] NOT NULL,
    [dec][decimal](5, 3) NULL,
    CONSTRAINT[PK_decTable] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED
    [id] ASC
    )WITH(PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON[PRIMARY]
    ) ON[PRIMARY]
    GO
    // Then create an odbc DSN entry that can be used:
    #define DSN L"exOdbc_SqlServer_2014"
    #define USER L"exodbc"
    #define PASS L"testexodbc"

  • ORA 2005 error when you using ODBC driver of 10.2.0.3

    I am getting following error when connecting Oracle 10.2.0.3 to Oracle 11.1 database from a thrid part application:
    Issue Description. An application using Oracle ODBC driver version 10.2.0.3 to communicate with the Oracle database 11g tries to update the field “SOURCE_CODE” of LONG data type in table “SUBROUTINE” returns the following error.
    ORA-02005: Implict -1 length not valid for the bind or dfeine datatype.
    I updated my client to 10.2.0.4,, error is still present. Does any one know what patch to install to get rid of this error. I cannot modify the third party code.

    What are the system requirements (supported config) of 3rd party app?
    According to the 9.2 Error Messages document,
    >
    ORA-02005 implicit (-1) length not valid for this bind or define datatype
    Cause: A negative length for the define variable was passed to a define function.
    Action: An explicit, non-negative, length parameter must be passed.
    >
    Perhaps you should report this back to vendor as a bug.
    You could also turn on odbc tracing (driver/dsn config) to catch the cuplrit statement.

  • ASE ODBC driver related questions

    Hi Friends,
    I am using ODBC driver (the framework over ODBC API) to connect and read data from ASE database server on Windows.
    I've few questions about ASE ODBC driver. Can you please guide me.
    1) ASE has a DB option called "textsize" which sets the limit on amount data we can fetch in select statement.
         This option can be set either in the DSN configuration (Advanced->Textsize text field) or by "set textsize <number>" for a session.
         --- While scanning BLOBs (image data types), I want to increase this limit to 512MB in my application. But, I don't want to override the limit if user has Text Size field in the DSN configuration.
        * how can we (programatically) find out the Text Size value set in the DSN configuration?
           --- Is it possible using some ODBC function?
    2) What is the maximum limit on the data returned by SQLGetData function call at a time?
         --- Can we determine the size of the data stored in a column, especially the BLOB (or image) columns using ODBC API?
             or do we need to run the query "select datalength(ColumnName) from tablename" ?
    3) Which the most stable and reliable ODBC Driver Manager for Unix and Linux OSs? Is it unixODBC?
    Many thanks in advance for your clarifications and time.
    Best Regards

    Thanks Paul.
    This is not with SQLGetData. In fact, SQLGetData is working fine for me.

  • ODBC Driver for Redhat Linux Configuring

    HI,
    Any one know the procedure of installing ODBC driver in redhat linux.
    The requirement is the application is running on windows and oracle 11g database is running on linux. All the Exe of application uses ODBC driver to connect to oracle database 11g.
    Is there any process to install ODBC driver in linux so that i can ran all the EXE's in linux. Can any one provide the docs on these topics.
    i have read some topics and enquired most of them they said can be done using the wine utility in linux. So i think to post in Oracle forum so that i get some clue to proceed.
    Thanks in advance...

    Oracle provides a driver that allows a Windows client to connect to databases on any platform. If you're looking for an ODBC driver for a non-Windows client, there are a few third parties that produce these sorts of drivers (DataDirect comes to mind), but most of them are commercial. http://www.unixodbc.org is an open source project to do the same thing.

  • Specifying Partner Failover in odbc.ini for Linux ODBC driver for SQL Server

    Hi,
    We are trying to specify the partner failover when making connections via Linux ODBC driver for SQL Server. Do you know a way to specify partner failover in the DSN entry in odbc.ini?
    We are using Linux ODBC driver for SQL Server and unixODBC DriverManager.
    Our DSN is:
    [MyDSN]
    Driver=ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server
    Description=MyDSN
    Server=MySERVER,<port>
    I also tried to use the following connection string in Python (via pyodbc) bypassing the DSN and connecting using the server name.
    cnxn = pyodbc.connect("Server=server1,<port>;UID=sa;PWD=<pwd>;Driver=ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server;Failover_Partner=Server2,<port2>;Database=MyDB")
    If the standby DB is on server1 connection fails. It doesn't try server2. If the DB is principal on server1 connection succeeds.
    Thank you,
     Liviu
    LLL

    Hello,
    Did you use ODBC Driver for SQL Server to connect to database that uses database mirroring?
    According to
    the BOL,it does not list "Failover_Partner" as ODBC Driver for Linux connection string keywords.
    But ODBC driver for Linux supports
    AlwaysOn Availability Groups or Failover Cluster Instance by specify MultiSubnetFailover=True when connecting to a SQL Server 2012 availability group listener or SQL Server 2012 Failover Cluster Instance.
    The following case is about similar issue and it seems that ODBC Driver on Linux does not recognize Failover_Partner in connection string. (Not test myself).You can refer to:

  • Executing multiple SQL statements fails using ODBC

    Executing multiple SQL statements will fail with error 'ORA-00911 invalid character' when connecting to an Oracle database using ODBC driver version 8.01.07.00.
    When I use either my application or the Oracle ODBC Test client utility connecting using ODBC driver version 8.01.07.00 I can only get a single CALL statement (as shown below) to execute:

    ','Event File
    Name','\\KILLIANS\BATCHCTL\SampleDemo1\JOURNALS\1.evt','','AREA1','','','','','','1','','','','','',' ','');
    When I try to execute the following string with multiple CALL statements (as shown below) it fails with the following error being returned - ORA-00911: invalid character
    CALL BHInsert (TO_DATE('2003.07.23 10:04:28','YYYY.MM.DD HH24:MI:SS'),'BATCH_ID','1:CLS_FRENCHVANILLA-1','
    ','Event File
    Name','\\KILLIANS\BATCHCTL\SampleDemo1\JOURNALS\1.evt','','AREA1','','','','','','1','','','','','',' ','');
    CALL BHInsert (TO_DATE('2003.07.23 10:04:28','YYYY.MM.DD
    HH24:MI:SS'),'BATCH_ID','1:CLS_FRENCHVANILLA-1','Version','Recipe Header','1.0','','AREA1',' ','
    ','','','','1','','','','','',' ','');
    CALL BHInsert (TO_DATE('2003.07.23 10:04:28','YYYY.MM.DD
    HH24:MI:SS'),'BATCH_ID','1:CLS_FRENCHVANILLA-1','Version Date','Recipe Header','5/18/2001 1:28:32
    PM','','AREA1',' ',' ','','','','1','','','','','',' ','');
    CALL BHInsert (TO_DATE('2003.07.23

    Shepard','','AREA1',' ',' ','','','','1','','','','','',' ','');
    I've tried adding a line feed in addition to the space at the end of each call but that doesn't seem to help. Also have tried unsuccessfully to change the seperator used between each call using various valid continuation characters.
    Executing multiple CALL statements from within Oracle's SQL Worksheet connecting as the same user and password, as my application executes successfully. However when I try this from within the Oracle ODBC test client, it fails with the same ORA-00911 error that I'm seeing in my application.
    I'm currently trying the more recent ODBC drivers, however any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Can you take the begin ... end block and run it using SQL*Plus?
    I can't think of any documentation that would specifically answer this question. I'm sure if you read & absorbed the ODBC Programmers Reference (2000+ pages) you'd be able to find out, but I don't know of a quick way to find out.
    You can enable SQL*Net tracing. There are a fair number of options for enabling this tracing-- http://tahiti.oracle.com has all the Oracle manuals online, which should give you enough info to configure exactly what you want.
    I would suggest, however, that you look into more performant/ scalable alternatives rather than going too far down this path. A block with lots of SQL statements with literals isn't going to make your database happy even if you get it to work.

    Hello,
    Thank you for your help,
    XE is installed on Linux Server (192.168.19.30) and is started
    XPClient is installed on Windows XP Client (192.168.19.100)
    I can connect to XE using http://192.168.19.30:8080/apex
    The problem is that I can't use ODBC driver
    In other hand, I can connect to the server in SQL command line, using :
    CONNECT SYSTEM/*******@192.168.19.30
    I saw in Oracle documentation that in Windows it's necessarie to use environnement variables to setup XEClient.
    Do you have any idea on how to configure client and ODBC driver ?

  • Connecting remote FoxPro dbf file using jdbc odbc bridge driver?

    Hi all,
    I am new to this topic, (even I read some threads)
    I need to access some FoxPro tables (dbf files) and select some data and save to an oracle table. what is the best method to do this?
    If I use java as development tool. which other drivers or methods to use beside jdbc-odbc driver?
    I read from this link but I didn't understand.
    http://java.sun.com/products/jdbc/faq.html#5
    "5. How can I use the JDBC API to access a desktop database like Microsoft Access over the network?
    Most desktop databases currently require a JDBC solution that uses ODBC underneath. This is because the vendors of these database products haven't implemented all-Java JDBC drivers.
    The best approach is to use a commercial JDBC driver that supports ODBC and the database you want to use. See the JDBC drivers page for a list of available JDBC drivers.
    The JDBC-ODBC bridge from Sun's Java Software does not provide network access to desktop databases by itself. The JDBC-ODBC bridge loads ODBC as a local DLL, and typical ODBC drivers for desktop databases like Access aren't networked. The JDBC-ODBC bridge can be used together with the RMI-JDBC bridge, however, to access a desktop database like Access over the net. This RMI-JDBC-ODBC solution is free.
    "

    Another solution by using HXTT DBF, a commercial type 4 JDBC package: You should read Remote Access Questions section at http://www.hxtt.net/en/software/dbf/faq.html#remote .

  • .How to Change Path to dbf files Using Visual FoxPro ODBC Driver

    Using vb.Net 2008, full Crystal 2008.
    I have a Crystal report that uses a Visual FoxPro File DSN pointing at a folder with dbase (.dbf) files.
    I need to be able to change the folder location at runtime. In the RDC, one key part of this has been specifying a connection string, such as:
    "Driver={Microsoft Visual FoxPro Driver};SourceType=DBF;SourceDB=" & gs_FileDSN_Path & ";Exclusive=No;Collate=Machine;Null=Yes;BackgroundFetch=No;"""""""
    However, I can't find any .NET documentation confirming this syntax and, even more importantly, where does it go?
    I tried 2 variations as:
                    reportTableLogonInfo.ConnectionInfo.Attributes.Collection.Add(New NameValuePair2("Connection String", ls_ConnectionString))
                    reportTableLogonInfo.ConnectionInfo.Attributes.Collection.Add(New NameValuePair2("ConnectionString", ls_ConnectionString))
    Followed later by   TableN.ApplyLogOnInfo(reportTableLogonInfo)before calling
    But I don't know if the correct attribute name is "Connection String", "ConnectionString", or something else.
    I also tried to set the connection string to the QE_ServerDescriptions property, as in:
    reportTableLogonInfo.ConnectionInfo.Attributes.Collection.Add(New NameValuePair2("QE_ServerDescription", ls_ConnectionString))
    None of these variations nr many others seem to work.
    BOTTOM LINE:
    Could someone provide sample code for overriding the dbase files folder location specified by a Visual FoxPro FileDSN?
    Thanks!

    OK, I came to the conclusion that the tables or the report somehow hold on to the File DSN for dear life and I can't change that fact.
    So I'm going to change my approach and instead of changing the connection properties of the tables, I'll modify the properties of the File DSN on the fly.  Ugly, but an OK solution for my use scenario.
    It would still be great to get a code sample for the original question but, it's no longer a burning issue for me.
    It would be nice if the support team created a document describing in detail how to achieve database location changes using .NET for different scenarios. It's a common need and the RDC object model had such a document.
