Using OpenAL without redist

?I am developing a cross platform application that uses OpenAL. I want to have things set up so that all the files needed to run the application are available in the directory structure for the application project. This means a developer would simple need to sync to the directory and perform a build to get a working copy of the application.
I have discovered that the project needed a newer version of OpenAL for Windows 7 than what I had currently been using. However when I try to add the latest version of the DLL into the project the application fails to start. If I install the redistrubtion files onto the system, the application works fine. I would very much like to avoid having someone run this installation program as part of setting things up for development purposes.
What files need to be included in the project so that OpenAL can be used to develop and run a windows application?

I was able to resolve my issue. Before posting, I was trying to include the OpenAL32.dll and wrap_oal.dll file in the same directory as the application. However, this was not working for me.
The application is 32-bit and I was running it on a 64-bit version of Windows, and it turns out that I had grabbed the 64-bit versions of the DLL's instead of the 32-bit version. Once I got the 32-bit versions of the DLL's everything worked fine.

depend on the document program more then anything else really
when ever I open a doc with word it make a history for undo and redo action file in the same dir
with bootcamp you only have read not write access to the osx partition so it would fail to be able to create that file
but if you can get word or whatever program you use to open the file not to place a temp file in the same dir
or use a program which did not make any type of temp file or used a program where the temp file would be located elsewhere where you decide it would work file

This user has found a "hack" to turn off faces. Several users have reported success with the method. I can't comfirm the method as I've not used it. Use at your own risk.

Start of solution:
I did some digging in the prefs of iPhoto and found out the following. This is how you can disable (turn off) Face detection, without deleting faces found so far (just in case you want to restart processing at another time):
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Open Terminal Application (Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app)
3. Type the following (exactly as is):
defaults write com.apple.iPhoto PKFaceDetectionEnabled 0
(then return)
4. - Start iPhoto - Faces stops getting on your nerves...
If you ever need to re-enable faces, just do the same again and replace the 0 with 1.

When I use Firefox without menu bar I can see bookmarks. How ever when I activate menu bar the bookmark is missing from toolbar. I tried opening in safe mode and resetting toolbar but it didn't fix the issue. I am using version 7.0

Do you mean the Bookmarks Menu button on the Navigation Toolbar?
You only see that button if the menu bar is hidden.

See used fonts without opening ai doc

hi,
is there a way to see what fonts are used in an illustrator document without opening it.
maybe an applescript or something, but it should not be a third party app or plug-in.
by the way: it should work with mac os x

Try to reset - Press both the home and on/off buttons for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo reappears.

How can I open textedit documents using Word without the document looking like gobbledygook?

Word documents from other computers open in Textedit on my macbook pro (10.6.8). When I try to open them with Word -- by using "open with" or changing the preference in "get info" or just by dragging the file to the Word icon on my dashboard -- I get a window asking what I want to convert the file from. No matter what I choose, the documents open as a jumble of symbols. Is there any way to change this? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

That's true, and that's what I've been doing, but I use dropbox to work on documents on different computers, and pasting things into new documents makes it more difficult to keep things organized. I'm hoping there's a way to created a Word document on my macbook air, put it in my dropbox folder, and then open it as a Word document on my macbook pro. Is that feasible?

Since downloading Adobe Reader 11.0.07 on 5/20/14 .pdf files will not open without saving them first. I want .pdf files to open first BEFORE I save them (using Windows 7 and Firefox 30.0)

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Folders open without toolbars, windows to not refresh, other issues

I am having a problem on my Mac G5 Dual 2GHz, it is running OS 10.4.11
For the past few days when ever I open certain folders on our network volumes the finder windows always open without a toolbar and there are a variety of problems with these folders. When I scroll or open a subfolder that folder doesn't refresh or gets all fragmented (visually) like there are thirty little copies of the folder on top of each other. If I close the window or change the view it corrects itself. Also if I navigate to said folders in a program (InDesign) it sometimes crashes the program.
Our network has not changed in anyway, the only new thing in our office is that a few computers started using Leopard.
Our network is using xinet, appletalk, various Dell servers running NT.
Any guesses what is going on?

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, move these files to the Desktop.

Hi All ! earlier I was using Microsoft Excel to upload text in SAP (FM - 'TEXT_CONVERT_XLS_TO_SAP'). It was absolutely fine. but, now I wan't to upload text using Open Office excel. i have saved the fle with .xls extension, but it is giving me error. Please advice how to upload text using Open Office excel.

How to use database without wizard

Can anyone help me to use recordsets without using the appwizard at the creation of my project?
the purpose is to input on the database values from a form without using a database project, so in my MFC project I do the following and then I faced problems :
In the class which I use the database I add the member variable
CDatabase m-Mydatabase;
on an "OnButton" function of this class I do :
m_Mydatabase.Open(NULL,FALSE,FALSE,stringconnect)
I have many dialog boxes, each dialog has a form from which I get data and put them on the database and vice versa.
I create fo each dialog box a RecordSet, and I include the .h file of the record set in the dialog class in which I'm going to use it.
So now how to use this recordset and put the values from controls to database ?

Make a CSV using OPEN HUB including some nodes of a hierarchy

I have a requirement that needs to make a CSV using OPEN HUB DESTINATION in BI7. I'm taking the information of a virtual cube (SEM ). However, I have the detail in 0CS_ITEM. In this Infobject there are some nodes that have to be displayed in the file, but this nodes are the acumulated of some 0CS_ITEM.
My question is: Do I have to make an abap program to read de hierarchy and make manually the adittion of the acumulated and display it into the file? Is there any other way to get this target without making abap code?

Instead of ABAP program I suggest you to create infospoke..and it will show a message in which format you want to save..

That can be a symptom of a poorly performing DNS. E.g. IE tries a lookup but doesn't wait long enough to get the answer; meanwhile the lookup proceeds, gets cached, etc.; so now when you try your "refresh" it is all there ready to go. Unfortunately,
I don't think there is any way of tuning your TCP to avoid this symptom. A workaround would be trying a different DNS. (A related workaround is to avoid a DNS relay to your router and make the OS aware of your real DNS.) A way of changing
the symptom is to always do enough in a cmd window to ensure a complete lookup is cached before you make your first request using IE, (e.g. using ping -n 1 because you don't care at that point if there
is connectivity for ICMP). But there may be problems doing that, depending on aliases and redirects and short Time To Live values.
